Putting on the gayest lenses I have and annotating gifs of The Sentinel (TV Series, 1996-1999) S1E1 'The Switchman'
Part 0/9
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
(alternatively, for moblie users: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9)
HULLO Since hardly anyone posts about the sentinel on tumblr I've annotated a gifset of S1E1 The Switchman with the gayest thoughts I have about it in the hopes it drives some other people insane as well.
This post has no actual gifs in it (horror, I've lied, clickbait, etc. etc.), but contains context and explanations if you've never heard of the show and want some of that.
Also big thanks to Becky for transcribing the pilot back in 1999. I could not hear half of what these guys were saying lol.
Brief context! The Sentinel is an episodic detective buddy-cop show centred around two guys-- Jim Elison (cop) and Blair Sandburg (anthropologist grad student)-- who are partners (oh my god they were partners) that go around solving mysteries and catching bad guys. More info on Fanlore here.
Don't want to spoil anything but the main premise on the show apart from the great banter and the fact that they were roommates (oh my god they were roommates), and very touchy with each other (hence the 27 gifs I have set up just for S1E1 help me), is the idea of Jim being a Sentinel.
That is to say, the guy (after being part of a tribe in Peru in the jungle, long story, watch ep1) has super senses which help him in his detective work, but they are difficult to control and Blair, who happens to be an expert in sentinels, subsequently ends up helping Jim in, essentially, training his senses (and tagging along through his escapades) (hence, becomes a guide of sorts for Jim).
Cue great opportunities to balance out the pairing, gives Jim a chance to rely on Blair, etc. etc.. The opportunity for shipping gets jucier when you start incorporating the sort of spiritual nature the Sentinel (and their guide) has as members of the tribe into it (don't want to spoil anything, feel free to ask though and I can talk about what I know), which has been inspiration for many soul mate aus, bonding aus and fate-driven aus, that sort of thing.
As a disclaimer, I don't know much about tribes, indigenous cultures, or their religions, or spiritual matters, and although the sentinel tv series is closely tied to a presumably fictional tribe in Peru (more discussion about it here), I don't know whether it is a good representation of tribal and/or indigenous culture or their beliefs (probably not), and most if not all of my knowledge surrounding visions, and spiritual planes, like that which Jim seems to keep finding himself in, and tribal obligations, roles and responsibilities and such, is from the show and fandom (fanfics and discussion threads and the like). If anyone does find whatever I say to be inappropriate or offensive, please let me know.
For anyone who has heard of the Sentinel/Guide trope, congrats! I do believe this show has one of the oldest iterations of it in fandom history people can find. Although in the show itself it is mentioned that the idea comes from a monograph of Sir Richard Francis Burton (British explorer, b.1821-d.1890), I do believe such a monograph is fictional, though I haven't researched the subject fully.
(More threads/discussion about the trope here, here and here :D)
In the sentinel (tv series), I believe Blair is the only so-called 'Guide' we come across, and for all intents and purposes does not have any sort of supernatural power. He's just some guy who knows a lot about this stuff, and thus can 'guide' Jim by helping him control his senses. That being said, he perhaps have a sort of spiritual responsibility, as is mentioned in S3E1 'Warriors' (spoilers :D), though it is not mentioned to a great degree.
For tumblrinas who have not encountered the Sentinel/Guide trope, welcome! See the above links to people who can explain it much better than I. Essentially, fandom has taken the above descriptions of Sentinels and Guides and have run away with it in a variety of ways, particularly in transforming the role of Guides.
I think a fun example of this is the Sentinel/Guide aus I've been seeing crop up in danmei (chinese bl novels). Let me know if you'd like to hear more about that. I am raring to go. (There's a list of about 16 different danmei with the trope here, for any fans like me who eat that uppp.)
(For Sherlock Holmes fans interested in the Sentinel/Guide trope, a GREAT get-yourself-into-it is Observations on Sentinels and Guides in Victorian London by RyuuzaKochou, a The Sentinel/Sherlock Holmes (rdj) crossover AU fanfic which features a more omegaversey, sentinels and guides are known au take on the trope.)
You probably don't need all of that context to enjoy the low quality gifs I have made lol, but just in case people were curious and weren't going to watch the show for themselves it is here.

Thoughts about Dota: Dragon’s Blood now that I’ve finished it
When I discovered that Netflix was gonna make an anime series with none other than Valve about Dota 2 I was, at first, shocked about it. It was unexpected and weird considering to make an anime series about a videogame with so many characters to choose and with a specific type of game. Was it going to be exactly like the source material? Who was gonna be the main characters in a world were you have a total of 119 heroes? Was it gonna be like a traditional or computer based anime?
The trailer helped a lot to see what we were gonna witness towards the first season: Traditional animation with computer based on the creatures, focusing primarly in 3 characters (Dragon Knight, Mirana and the Invoker who, coincidentally, each with the main attribute of the game), lot of action scenes and fun enough, some inspiration in other classic series such as Berserk.
I’ve watched the whole season in 2 days and honestly it was a really good anime! It introduces the characters pretty well along side the lore or the world of Dota withouht having to be a die hard fan of the videogame. Look at it as a way to introduce the game so you can give it a try. I also like to mention that the ending gives you a good way for us to wait at the new season (if there is one of course but I have my hopes very high considering that so far this show is the top 2 in Netflix on Peru)
And now, as always, I’m gonna post the good and bad stuff of what I’ve seen:
The Good: - Animation: I was really worried that the animation would be mostly like the Ultraman, Pacific Rim or the Godzilla animated films. This is mostly because the computer only are very limited compared with the traditional animation style which gives more emotions and movements towards the characters. The only computer scenes are done by the creatures (dragons or the big fluffy cat mounts of Luna and Mirana).
- Character designs: There is wide variety of characters in this show but clearly you can notice the main ones than the secondary. The heroes looked way different than the game like for example, Davion reminded me a lot of Guts from Berserk but less edgy while Mirana seemed way more younger than her videogame counterpart. It’s like they have their bases on the characters but written them differently.
- MARCI. Marci is the best. I love her.
- Music: This is one of my fav aspects of the show. As far as I’ve found the music was composed by Dino Meneghin and has this sort of ol’ videogame vibes music with the beats but also mixes with a style of a fantasy adventure. Props to him on making such a great job and also not making me skip the intro, because it’s lit!
- Voice acting: I’ve listened this anime with the english voice actors and it was nice. Gives them more character emotion like Davion being very cocky, Mirana wise and fearless, Invoker emotionless but also concerned. Plus, Tony Todd is there! Loved his voice acting in the videogame! I’ll have to listen in the latin american spanish because I’m curious about it too.
- Character’s personalities and evolution: When we see the first episodes we have a base on the main characters who take some time but change greatly. Davion starts as fearless and willing to help anyone but sometimes craves for attention to become someone who doesn’t know his purpose anymore yet still fights for what he believes it’s right even if it can risk his life; Mirana wants to do everything on her own but then realizes sometimes help is a good choice. Luna is someone who obeys anything Selemene commands yet in the end starts to doubt her goddess actions.
- References to the videogame: The most common scene is the beginning where the Oracle introduces us the concept and the base of this whole world, showing still images of the other heroes fighting each other but also in the next episodes it gives us scenes like the seller from the secret shop who has some of the items. It’s like a nice way to tell the audience that this is based on a game and they can find more playing it.
- Cliffhanger ending: It’s very obvious that they want to continue this series with more seasons and they make a good way by giving us different endings to the characters. We want to see what’s gonna happen now after all this journey that is just the beginning.
The Bad:
- Characters who are not very likeable nor interesting: One of those who I didn’t really liked was Bram, Davion’s squire. I mean he cares truly for Davion but was just there in the first and last episodes only, we don’t truly see his potential and makes him uninteresting at the end.
- Some nsfw scenes: As mentioned, there are some implied nsfw scenes which limits the audience. I understand there had to be a brothel in a black market but then in the elfs scene (if you know, you know) I kind of feel it was a biiiiiiiit unnecessary but hey, it’s their culture not my own.
- Not enough Marci.
- More use of the skills of the characters: Here’s a thing I kind of find lacking a lot and was that most of the characters didn’t use much of their skills based on the game. I mean Davion has his blood dragon thing that heals him quickly (?) and sometimes Mirana shoots his arrows/stars but then nothing much. Terrorblade is the one who truly uses more the skills.
I hope that with this long review you can dig it and watch some of this nice anime that has a lot of potential and let’s see if we can see more heroes next season!

Movies I watched this Week - #79
I was finally down to watch Adam Price’s Borgen, the terrific Danish political series, about the first female prime minister of Danmark (created just before Helle Thorning-Schmidt became one in 2011). I planned on binging the whole 40 hours in one week, but it’s too much for one sitting, and I took a break after the first season.
Naturally, I connected mostly to the proximity of all the locations where the action takes place (and which I walked around many times). But I also loved the gorgeous (and terrific actress!) Sidse Babett Knudsen (Photo Above) trying to balance her two roles of a talented leader and a loving wife. Her domestic/love life story line was nice, but predictable. Each episode dealt with one theme (female equality, sovereignty, compromise, etc) wrapped neatly into a tight package. Also, it was good to visit with the many other actors that I’ve now seen on dozens of other Danish films. 8/10.
🍿
The Seven Year Itch, another Billy Wilder mid-50′s sexist farce, about lascivious males “hunting” for loose females while their wives are on summer vacation in Maine. Marylin Monroe as the gorgeous but ditzy “Girl with no name”. Contains the throwaway scene of the subway breeze grate as Monroe’s white dress is blown upwards by a passing train. 3/10.
🍿
2 more from Argentina:
🎦🎦🎦 Official Competition, a Spanish-Argentinian meta-film about film-making, a-la-’Day for night’. With Antonio Banderas and a radiant Penelope Cruz. Starts as a empty caricature which is played out on giant, modern, empty stages, and ends as an hilarious farce and some real heart. 7/10.
🎦🎦🎦 I love it when I serendipitously pick up a random film I never heard of, and it turns up to be a gem. The Argentinian Lina from Lima is such a film. It tells a simple story about an unremarkable poor woman from Peru, who works as an Au-pair for a wealthy family in Chile. She plans a Christmas trip back to Lima to see her teenage son.
Like the lonely protagonist who lives in quiet desperation, the film is unassuming and mundane. But Then! Out of the blue and without warning, whenever she's sad, she starts dreaming in spectacular song and dance numbers, choreographed Busby Berkeley-style to old Peruvian folk songs. The contrast is jarring and emotional. The ordinary-looking middle-age woman turns sultry, sensual and desirable, and her story reminds me of Cleo, the live-in maid in Cuarón’s ‘Roma’. The sad life of a migrant worker.
Wonderful discovery of the week!
🍿
The Valet, a sweet comedy about a Mexican Beverly Hills parking valet who’s hired to impersonate a lover of a famous actress. Generally feel-good story which eventually turns into exaggerated multicultural cliches (Mom’s Mexican food softens even the cruelest of hearts).
With  ‘Marie “Minerals” Schrader’. 5/10.
🍿
2 with Vanessa Redgrave:
🎦🎦🎦 Howards End, the Merchant-Ivory old fashioned period piece about class and real estate in Edwardian Britain. I usually don’t like costume melodramas, and in spite of the pedigree of this turn of the century adaptation, I didn’t care for this one either. Pretty set design & cinematography and outdated class politics.
🎦🎦🎦 The whistleblower, with Rachel Weisz, Monica Bellucci, David Strathairn and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. A true story about a Nebraska policewoman, who worked for the UN Peace Corps in Bosnia, and uncovered a sex trafficking and sexual slavery conspiracy facilitated by DynCorp employees and many at the UN itself. But the sadistic violence and brutal ugliness of the subject matter was translated into an grim and depressing movie. And the police procedural script was predictable, clichéd and utterly unoriginal. 2/10.
🍿
Brian and Charles, a quirky Welsh production by a first-time director. It’s about an oddball inventor who lives in a tiny village, and who, like Dr. Frankenstein, builds a seven-feet humanoid washing-machine robot. “Charles” has a Stephen Hawking voice and a childish but benevolent nature. Amusingly ‘different’. 5/10.
🍿
Last week I saw, without any prior for-knowledge, Anne Hui’s masterful ‘A simple life’. I vowed to seek her many other films. Sadly, her latest Love after love was hugely disappointing. This gorgeously-filmed 1940′s period drama was pure hokum. A boring, cliched soap opera of the style that is popular with (mostly female) Chinese audiences (just like the Spanish Telenovelas, Korean soaps, etc.). The story was incomprehensible to me, and completely without emotional attachment – unlike this prior 'A Simple Life', which was emotionally complex and nuanced. 2/10.
I will still try some of her other films, but heck!
🍿
5 Re-watches:
🎦🎦🎦 Conspiracy, an understated dramatization of the Wannsee Conference from January 20, 1942, where 15 senior Nazi officials met to define and codify the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question", the bureaucratic nature of the genocide. With Kenneth Branagh as Heydrich and Stanley Tucci as Eichmann. Based on the only actual transcript from the 90 minutes meeting, it must have been impossible to do right: Showing how the ‘banality of evil’ happens, they nearly had to glamorize the individuals who signed off on the plan.
I wish it was much more “realistic”, describing the proceedings as they really might have happened and less ‘dramatic’. I read that a 1984 German film, Die Wannseekonferenz, was better. 5/10.
🎦🎦🎦 The World’s End, a pub crawl in the midst of an alien invasion, the third of the ‘Cornetto trilogy’. In my mind I adored Edgar Wright‘s output (never seen ‘Scott Pilgrim’ yet). But thinking back, while ‘Hot Fuzz’ is one of my all-time favorite comedies, the rest are actually unremarkable.
- The Marmalade Sandwich!
🎦🎦🎦 “... Jahé means 'hello'. I can say 'hello' in a lot of different languages. Not yours, but a lot of them...”
Happy to have introduced Midnight Run to Ahmed, and to enjoy it one more time. Still a perfect 10/10 in my book, without a single false scene. And right in the mid-point of the movie (never realized that before) the silent embrace with the daughter he hadn’t seen in 9 years, which was devastating. Extra sauce to Danny Elfman's score.
🎦🎦🎦 Thief, Michael Mann’s atmospheric feature film debut (!), and precursor to ‘Heat’. With moody Tangerine Dream pulsating score. Shout-out to the long coffee-shop confession scene. Willie Nelson must have acted in dozens and dozens of films beside this one.
RIP, James Caan!
🎦🎦🎦 Working Girl, Mike Nichols’s corporate Cinderella romance, about late-80′s office politics, female empowerment, and especially about giant hair and shoulder pads. Haven’t seen it since then, and was surprised to see how well it stayed. With Sigourney Weaver, Alec Baldwin and creepy Kevin Spacey as three separate villains, and with Carly Simon’s distinct ‘Let the river run’ theme song. 7/10
🍿
Ocean’s Twelve, one of the worst films I’ve ever seen (?). Never having seen Soderbergh’s Ocean Trilogy until last week, and liking the first part-Eleven OK, I jumped into the sequel, and hated everything in it. A fake, empty, self-indulgent money-grabbing exercise. 1/10.
🍿
First watch: Hot shots!, a 1991 ‘Top Gun parody’, with all my favorite 90′s stars, Charlie Sheen, Cary Elwes, Jon Cryer and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. (/sarcasm). 2/10

Watching The Mysterious cities of gold, episode 2-3-4
Tumblr media
Today I am continuing on my (re)watching of the Mysterious cities of gold, AKA in France as "Les mysterieuses cités d'or." Here's a link to the first episode.
Last episode we encountered Esteban, a child with the power to control the weather, as he leave Barcelona for Peru to learn more about his origin, accompanying Mendoza a greedy & ambitious sailor with a slight noble streak, who sneak Esteban on the ship he'll be sailing on. The episode ended as Esteban discovered there was another "stowaway" on the boat: Zia, a young Inca girl once abducted from her peoples, and now abducted again when Governor Pizzaro demand her back to spy on her peoples.
The episodes:
The episode Open with Esteban & Zia bonding about being both stowaway. They discover that both have a similar necklace, although Esteban's is missing the central circular piece (that we know Mendoza has). Zia clearly express her dislike of Mendoza & Spaniard as a whole, since they are invading her homeland. She make an exception for Esteban however, since he is also from South America (still unclear exactly where)
Tumblr media
Alas the two kids are caught by Pizzaro's captain of the Guard, Captain Gaspard, a rude, angry and mean bully, who threaten to throw them overboard, in spite of his superior telling him not to. He only refrain when Mendoza intervene, who take the responsibility for the children's, earning the ire of Gaspard (who cannot beat up Mendoza since without him, the ship doesn't have a sailor capable of navigating the Strait of Magellan).
Tumblr media
After that, the episode spend some time showing the life on the boat, learning that Captain Gaspard & the other officer on the boat are planning to get rid of Mendoza once the ship pass the strait, foreshadowing Zia's ability to use & read Quipu (image bellow), and building up to the Strait of Magellan. There's also a cool scene with butterfly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that passage in the Atlantic Ocean, it is now time for the Strait of Magellan, that was build up during one whole episode as something to be feared (like it's real world counterpart). Mendoza being essential for the navigation in the strait, will have to stay awake 3 whole day and night to guide the crew. As soon as they enter the strait, he avoid a dangerous wave that would have shattered the ship, and keep supervising the navigation through storm, snow & powerful currents. There's a whole sequence where Esteban hallucinate the cliffs as rock monsters swallowing & crushing ships, as well as depiction of wreckage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the ship escape the strait, and reach the pacific Ocean. Tired and about to faint, Mendoza prove once more he is ahead of everyone, using his achievement & Esteban's reputation as child of the sun to get on the good side of the crew, much to the annoyance of the ship officers.
But as the ration run dry for the crew, the officer keep feeding themselves with good food, and Esteban try to get something good to it from their own reserve. He his caught, and Gaspard put him & Zia in a cage, and try to fight Mendoza to the death. But perhaps responding to Esteban's distress (remember, weather control), a tornado appear and crush the ship. Many peoples die (we see sailors being carried away into the sea by the sails they were trying to pull back.) and the officers leave early, letting Mendoza & his sidekicks, Esteban & Zia on a broken, drifting ship, slowly coming apart. On it, they witness a Saint Elmo fire.
Tumblr media
After making a fortune raft and leaving the ship as it come apart, they drift for a while, survive a shark attack, and as they are despairing, they see hope: First, seagulls, which mean there's land nearby. And then, an Island.
Tumblr media
Since their boat is drifting away from it, Mendoza (again) attach a rope to himself and drag swimming the raft toward the island, fighting a shark along the way. This always one feat after another with this guy.
While the name of the island is never given, it is one of the Galapagos island, not too far from Peru.
And that's where the fourth episode end: the main cast reaching a mysterious island after surviving a difficult and draining journey.
Some reflections:
Again with Mendoza:
Last time, I said Mendoza did one Circumnavigation, but it turn out I was underestimating him: he crossed the Strait three time, so he did "AT LEAST" one, and likely traveled multiple times between Spain & Peru.
Beyond that tho, the tendency from the first episode continue: he's a greedy man, but has a good side. He take time to teach the kids about navigation or about the various phenomenon you can see on the ocean. He is fiercely protective of them against Gaspard & Gomez (Gaspard "smarter" friend). It's clear that he wouldn't let the kids be hurt, and he take enormous risk to ensure their safety.
Yet because he ultimately want to use them to find wealth, it's hard to know how much is legitimate care & feeling of responsibility, and how much is just wanting to make sure they don't get away from him.
I'm rediscovering this character and finding him such an interesting case of "not exactly mentor" figure.
Realism:
I find it impressive that the show took so much effort to try to depict reality. While it's not perfect, and remain a fantasy series with supernatural elements, when the character encounter a phenomenon or a place, it's heavily based, or litterally is, a real thing. From using a real historical figure (Pizzaro) & real meteorological conditions (St Elmo fire), to having Mendoza give a clear, if simplified, explanation of why the strait is dangerous (The difference of depth between the Atlantic & the Pacific + powerful winds from the North).
Even when the explanation isn't exact, it still ground the series and give it a more tangible feel of adventure. Knowing the strait is real make you feel like you learned about something you might genuinely see one day. And thus the fantastical aspects of the series can feel like something that could legitimately happen. Of course not really, but their presence among the real give some substance to them.
This goes even further with the series not shying from death: on those three episodes, we see multiple sailors fall in the ocean. Right after one pass overboard, Mendoza explain that "if you fall in, no one could save you", essentially making it clear: this poor guy is dead.

Legend of the Three Cablleros: Nazca Racing and Mexico A-Go-Go
Tumblr media
Saludos Amgios and welcome back to The Ride of the Three Caballeros! And we’re almost at the finish line! After this reviews only 4 episodes, 2 reviews and a top 12 list/celebration of this long and fun as hell journey, this one for free to thank kev for paying for all these reviews and because without him this probably woudlnt’ of happened for some time and I thank him for that. Point is we’re so close I can taste it to being finished here so with nothing else to cover, after the cut we’re diving right into adventure.. literally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nazca Racing:
So we open at the outside of Sheldgoose Manor as while we’re not at the scene of the action YET, the show has kept it’s tendency to have intresting intros as it goes on. Point is Xandra is incredulous about the guys claims of a magic barrier.. for some reason. Seriously Sheldrake is a powerful sorecerer, has a lair, even if they don’t know about that part, why WOULDN’T his place be shielded from you guys? Still she has to test it punchiing it , arrowing it and throwing a rock at it.. and the rock does take out a window prove it even if i’ts vandalism but that wasn’t a crime thousands of years ago and no one saw them so we good.
Our heroes brainstorm back at the Cabana what to do, ignoring the girls suggestion that since the cabs can’t get through the barrier they can but are ignored because ... I dunno. I seriously dont’ know, they haven’t treated the kids like this before or since. Also if you were wondering why not humphrey, spark of life. Too risky. But this discourse is interupted as there’s a signal in peru. The trap has been sprung and the girls warn it might be since they KNOW the cabs will show up where they are and have time to plan but are brushed off. We also get the start of a thread with Jose as he gives all his money to some kittens who are actually con artists. Turns out that’s WHY he’s poor: he gets money easily but donates it all to bogus charities. You know like Louie’s kids or PETA. It’s a nice character trait, showing despite being a lady’s man and having a bit of an ego.. he’s still a very good guy if very, VERY gullible. Hopefully it comes up againa s this smacks of a flaw brought up and solved in one episode, and while ti’s adressed her it really dosen’t get resolved, but with 5 episodes left after this I HIGHLY doubt it.
So our heroes are off to the Nasca lines of having gotten there with the help of a shady pilot... instead of you know.. porting there.. but given the Nazca Lines are best seen from air according to wikipedia and best shown off that way, as well as the fact it’s revealed you can enter the realm the creatures represented in the lines inhabit via plunging into it, it does make sense. She could’ve TOLD them all this before going but this is one of her off days. The Nazca Lines are a real life set of geoglypys that look really damn cool, and show up in all sorts of works, the two off the top of my head are Mega Man Starforce 2 where their used as the basis for the villians, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5ds, where there used for the basis for the earthbound immortals.. also villians, a series of powerful and evil gods, and naturally represented by cards, that bring people back from the dead to serve as their avatars, known as the dark signers.
Tumblr media
As you can see they also look really fucking awesome. Sadly I have not had a deck with them as I haven’t really thought about it and you need a field spell to keep them alive, but still good stuff. Really need to watch that arc in full some day.
Point is the plane starts to fall apart because the pilot swindled them, or rather Jose, and they have to jump without a parachute as there’s only one. Xandra of course leaps first forgetting her friends don’t have god strength or durability and will just go squish if her logic doesn’t pan out. Panchito naturally leaps without thinking and Jose decides why not and sky captain and the crappy plane he bought for 5 bucks decides to snatch the parachute so Donald’s forced to leap.  It does work though and we do get one of the best parts of the series thus far: our heroes are drawn in chalk which is beautiuflly animated and a really creative idea. Granted the magic chalk thing dosen’t make a LOT of sense given the lines are carved in.. but at the same time we’re talking about three talking birds and a goddess chasing after an overweight one percenter, his talking staff and said talking staff’s son/lover/donkeybatmonkeyrat. Exact accuracy to real life can be waved just a smidge. Point is they find Mono, a monkey and one of the guardians of the lines, who Feldrake apparently trapped, though Xandra is suspcious. NOW, after their already in the trap basically.
Tumblr media
But yeah Mono tells them Feldrake is going after the Nazca Gyroscope, a device at the center of the earth that keeps the earth orbiting the sun.
Tumblr media
Point is our heroes have to stop him though Xandra is again suspcious as Feldrake wants to conquer the world not destroy it....  forgetting the whole lava lizard scheme... just.. seriously what was his plan there. rule over a pile of ashes.. actually given Feldrake’s competence and intellegence so far. that’s probably exactly it. Why is Sheldgoose the one getting called fool a lot again?
So we get another really stellar Musical Number, draw the line as our heroes progress through the Nazca world. Also I forgot to mention but earlier, in a nice bit of setup, we set up both that jose is a talented artist, which comes in handy here, while donald struggles and doubts himself. Can.. .can relate. Say that a lot but REALLY can relate. They end this wonderful song easing on down the road while our villians watcht hem.. instead of you know going ahead up and erasing them as is their plan.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the trips sneak into Sheldgooses mansion trying to find some sort of evil scheme or lair or some clue they can use. But instead june, looking for some secret in the money vault, instead is caught by security so a chase insues and our heroines spend the episode barely outrunning the security dogs.. who SHeldgoose apparently raised.
Tumblr media
Don’t.. DON’T want to think about THAT any longer than I have to. Point is they find Feldrake’s hidden lair we saw in the second episode where Sheldgoose found the staff. Not bad stuff, just really not something I need to spend an hour recapping.
So our heroes continue along encountering Hanzy, another guardian with giant hands who they free from a finger trap.. and her reasoning is both adorable and chucklesome, as Sheldgoose, having a piece of the chalk, drew a finger trap and never having had one in her size she just had to try it. So the party gains another member as they tread carefully past the spider, the final guardian and one who will eat them without a second thought.  With that they reach the gyroscope.. and Mono turns on the cabs revealing Sheldgoose tricked him into thinking they were the bad guys and this is naturally a trap. And that is part of the episodes problem: the tension from “well their walking straight into a trap” is kinda.. nonexistant. OUr heroes ran in blind, and even when suspicious in the liens being on their guard amounts to nothing and we know from last episode this is a trap. It’s one thing to have a plan turn out to be a trap for the heroes or for the villians, as we’ll see later this week, that’s fine.. but either the audience isn't aware or there’s general tension from our heroes not knowing. Here there’s none of that.
So our heroes are trapped in a cage while Sheldgoose and Feldrake head up top to erase them, as if their drawings on hte line, the way they came in are erased so are they. It’s a good plan.. and the tension is dissipated again as hanzy just casually tosses the cage off, mono apologizes and our heroes use the chalk to draw themselves flying machines, with Donald only having a balloon and a basket. Comedic gold.  Despite once again any dramatic tension this episode evaporating like ..t ears in the rain? I dunno I don’t have a metaphor that works here. Despite this the race is genuinely thrilling with sheldgoose busting out a shark rocket launcher since neither Feldrake nor Xandra’s magic work in the lines. Nice touch by the way. But he runs out of chalk (”You should’ve learned how to conserve space!”) though our villians reach the exit first by unleashing the spider, who Jose tries to smooth talk into not eating them.. and Donald, like me afriad of spiders, iconically shouting “KILL IT, KILL IT WITH FIRE!”
The heels erase Hansy, which is genuinely sad. Our heroes do escape in time though before he can get them and while Feldrake makes a speech in an awesome moment, Xandra just.. ignores it and fills him full of arrows.. well the g rated equilvent about that, I don’t think any of us want to see Wayne Knight bleed buckets. I”m still not over that scene from Jurassic Park where we saw nothing but I imagined it all right.. I.. imagined it *shudders*
So i’m scared for life but our heroes are free and revive hanzy with the chalk and we get a really sweet payoff to Donald’s trouble drawing as his new finger for her is a bit crooked but she loves it. It shows even if your art isn’t as good as other people’s it’s still worth something. A nice message. Feldrake once again berates Sheldgoose who points out the cabs can escape death again and again... giving Feldrake the idea to go talk to death personally. And yeah these teases... while I get this series was made for streaming.. they keep hurting the story slightly like they did here. Though I will give them credit this one.. ends up ratcheting up the tension next time so props.
Final thoughts on Nazca Racing:  This one was decent. The animation was gorgeous and always the jokes were top notch, and the subplot was a nice opportunity for the triplets to take the stage and have an adventure.. but the plot banks a lot on our heroes walking into a very obvious trap and that just sours things for me. Still it’s not a bad episode like “World Tree Caballeros” or “No Man is an Easter Island” for the reasons stated above. And there was no daisy for an episode so while I badly wanted to find out how she’d react to the events last episode, we also got a break from her being bitchzilla, queen of monsters for an episode.. for an episode. “Sigh”
Tumblr media
Mexico-A-Go-Go:
Okay back on form. Our heroes return home to find.. a conspiracy board all around the house.
Tumblr media
Sadly it’s not that but it turns out the girls haven’t slept since the mansion and while Donald objects to their breaking and entering, they soon reveal what htey found: The Sheldgooses have all been linked to eveyr major disaster over the centuries... ever since Feldrake, who we see as a mortal for the first time, holding his OWN book as a counterpart to the heroes. They also uncovered a connection to Clinton coot and the sheldgooses but don’t have time to elaborate before Donald waves them off to check his messages.  Unsurprisingly it’s Daisy who says “In light of recent events” i.e. you know seeing Donald’s friend save her life, dapper abandon her and seeing donald fight an evil sorcerer and wrangle a bear, to give him one more second chance.
Tumblr media
Yeah i’ve spent a good chunk of this series complaining about Daisy.. and given she appears in the final two episodes i’m probably not finished. But this is just.. wow. So now she KNOWS, if not all the details that Donald and his friends are entangled in something big and scary, that involves a lives bear and actual fucking magic, so that his ducking out on her last time was NOT him being irresponsible or going to hang with his pals or something stupid, but probably something pretty important, she’s not fully aware of everything but she’s aware ENOUGH to know Donald really is making something of himself or at least is trying and really didn’t mean to mistreat her.. and she STILL is giving him fucking ultimatums!
Tumblr media
I just.. i’m so done with this whole fucking subplot. All of it. Not just Daisy, Donald constnatly having a moan about loosing her and whining about going on missions to save the world instead of keeping this ungrateful, bossy, self esteem shattering, shrill, selfish, gold digging, impossibly high stand’s keeping big gulp full of bitch.
Donald.. buddy YOU CAN DO BETTER. Xandra’s right there and even if she’s not interested there’s a WHOLE TOWN of rich, eligible ladies. Go woo one of them! it’s hard getting out there, believe me I know, it’s VERY hard and i’ll probably die alone.. but your a good man, you have good friends. Friends who’ve screwed up yes but good friends to wingman and wingwoman for you. Just... leave Daisy behind. It’s not good for your mental health to keep bending over backwards for someone who wants you to be something you’ll NEVER be. Who wants someone sophisticated and with a steady job.. and the latter part’s never going to happen now your a Caballero, and given that’s more important.. good! If she can’t see what you do or won’t take the time to fucking listen... MOVE. ON. I know moving on’s hard but you have to. For your own health. Staying stuck in place over a person just hurts you and them.
And as for Daisy..  this is easily the worst version of the character. And I went into this FULLY KNOWING this version was bad, FULLY KNOWING she was going to be grating and some of the things she’d pull like Dapper thanks to spoilers. It’s why I held off watching this for so long.. and turns out while it was worth it, the series is quite good, my fears were JUSTIFIED and no amount of reading it could prepare me for how terribly written and horribly damaging this all is.  And I do mean damaging: Kids pick things up from media. And while I should’ve caught on sooner, can’t fully blame a cartoon, I did as a kid and teen get my idea of romance from cartoons and tv and thus got the idea that pining after someone in secret was okay and they’ll come around eventually and starring at them and what not is entirely fine and not creepy. Of course it isn’t, of coure you have to say something, and of course you have to let it go if there with someone else. I know that NOW, and there have been much better geek gets the girl plots. .but it still seriously fucked with my autistic brain’s view on friendships with women, something I still struggle with at times.  And that’s why I take this shit seriously: Because while thankfully I never bought into THAT , shit where “it’s okay if it’s a WOMAN, abusing a MAN”. Men can be abused to. It’s why we had SO SO MANY unfunny stalker characters in the 2000′s, and so many plots like this where the guy is wrong.. because h’es male and his partner being domineering and expecting him to change everything without doing anything for them or treating them as an equal.. is just not okay.  And it speaks to a bigger problem.. out of touch writers who assume because THEIR wives are only with them out of obligation that’s how ALL relatoinships work, when no it’s not get a divorced please god. The Duckverse REALLY doesn’t need this According to Jim, My Wife and Kids, George Lopez, Home Improvement, Cleveland Show, King of Queens, Dinosaurs, Rick and Morty, Glen Martin DDS, etc all bullshit. People break up and Donald deserves better. And I genuinely blame both EP Matt Daner and Tony Anselmo for this. And I have a LOT of respect for both guys, i’ve made that very clear.. but Matt as EP and thus the one in charge fo the overall storyline is clearly the one who thought of this and Tony, who helped write for Donald this series, didn’t either get Tress, whose been doing daisy for two decades and is as knolwedgle for her as he is for donald the same courtsey or chime in given he should know daisy better. Both of these men should know better. Danner wrote for Xiaolin Showdown, that had great female characters for the most part and Tony is a grown ass man whose worked with women and is married as far as I know. Figure it out.  This Daisy thing has EASILY been the worst part of this retrospective as a whole, the worst part of this series and probably the worst thing i’ve seen in a duck property.. and again I saw daisy ACTUALLY HIT DONALD.
Tumblr media
And this is worse. Because instead of one moment of terrible writing and misplaced slapstick that comes off as abuse, it’s just a constnat barage of emotoinal abuse treated as if i’ts DONALD’S fault. Donald did nothing wrong to her and his only crime is obessing of this hellspawned hardian. Fuck this entire plot with a garden rake lined with acid.
Also just a quick note before we speed through Daisy’s screentime to get to the good part of the episode, there’s, at least no yet NO proper reaction to Donald’s new life and it bothers me it bothers me a lot. She learns he has this whole secret life and has no fucking questions just more of the same old bullshit. “SIGH”
So yeah this b-plot: Donald wants to stay for Daisy
Tumblr media
And the others drag him along though this time.. Donald comes off as the asshole because he KNOWS they need him, knows he’s useful and knows this is more important but drags his feet anyway for someone who again, has done NOTHING good for him. And even with the girls saying the’ll help and telling him to keep the mirror handy, he still keeps complaning up until the plans reveaeld.
Tumblr media
The plan, which.. May I think, the orange one. I know June is purple, but while May isn’t on board for this, the plan is to have April and June do the totoem pole trench and have donald be the face. So the entire plan is basically this
Tumblr media
They have an actually nice date till the ruse is revealed, and while he says “I can explain” which he can.. she PUNCHES the mirrror saying explain this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So our heroes need to go to Mexico, Panchito’s homeland and somehow, in a series based on and starring primarily south american characters... one of the two times we visit the region and the only time we visit one of the cabs two home countries. Now the latter part i’m fair on since they were likely saving Brazil for the season 2 that never happened and didn’t want to blow their load just yet. The other part.. not so much. I’m not saying set the entire series there, there’s a lot of world, but most of the locations aside from the world tree are pretty common for globetrotting adventure: Easter Island, Stonehenge, Mt. Rushmore, The Pyramids, the Moon, and coming up Camelot and Shangri La. These aren’t BAD settings mind and are used creatively and probably will be in the two I haven’t seen, and the setups involving king arthur and a yeti spa do sound like they wont’ dispoint, but you had a real opportunity to teach kids, and my grown man self, about South America and ya blew it.
But we’re in Mexico where after meeting a spooky cloaked guy who says they might not leave alive
Tumblr media
So our heroes enter the temple and the other side and find a bunch of chickens who see Panchito, who insisted on the trip due to his luchadores code of always helping the incident, as a god and their chosen champion for the goddess of light as the preistess explains. So we get a montage of Panchito getting pampred while the other cabs get pushed around, ending at a restraunt.  Xandra is naturally suspcious as the locals are being AWFUL vauge about what’s going on here, and this is getting pretty midsomar. Donald is distracted by daisy and Jose is distracted by a beautiful senorita, leaving Xandra to TRY and get panchito to think.. before being distracted herself by a mysterious handsome latino gentleman in black. Though during the dance with thier respective partners, Xandra and Jose both remark that it’s weird.. but are distracted by the sexy long enough for it to be revealed what Panchito’s duty is: as the champion of life.. he has to fight the champion of death. No Prize for guessing who. Though unlike with “Nazca Racing” where the teaser removed all tension since we knew it was a trap, here the teaser last episode helps, as we don’t see Team Feldrake till this moment, and we know something involving death itself.. and finding out panchtio’s representing life just ratchets up tension: we know the bad guys are involved.. but we don’t know how or what they’ll do.
And the how is simple: A one on one wrasslin match!
Tumblr media
Or lucha match since we Panchito’s a luchador and we’re in mexico. He’s wearing his usual outfit while Sheldgoose is wearing standard wrestling tights.. so a superstar babyface versus a heel comentator... but actually entertaining this time. As you can tell I love wrestling. While i’m more of a casual fan, I watch OSW and some other wrestling youtubes and don’t really watch the product at the moment, I do love and respect the sport and love a good wrestling episode or series of television as a result, so this hits the spot.
So the match goes on and Panchito has the clear lead as Sheldgoose is playing by college wrestling rules and Panchito is playing by pro wrestling rules. And while you can use standard holds well you gotta mix the two together kurt angle style. Eventually Xandra decides to confront the sexy bird and sexy boy, and finds out, in a twist I didn’t see coming they ARE the god of life and god of death, respectively. While I knew this was a fight to the death, as death explains, a symbolic battle between the two with real stakes to keep ballance, I thought these two were just illusions brought up to keep Xandra and Jose from leaving or digging deeper. Instead they were just doing it on their own and as the god of death shows, they were genuinely intrested. I mean... why not get some while preparing to have your champions do battle. God for you death god, multitasking like that. Same for you goddess of life. Get it girl, you get after it. Jose is a fine man. I’d tap that if I could. Get after it.  So Xandra warns Panchito who finds taking life against his code and Jose again shows his awesomeness by pointing out the obvious: the match is timed, so if they run out the clock it’s a draw. Might lead to something but it’s better than nothing. So Panchito TRIES this, but Sheldgoose has leopold “Throw mommy to daddy” (One of my faviorite gags of the episode), and wacks him with feldrake before the whole thing becomes a brawl. And the god of Death does not take DQ’s or outside intefernce well and instead kills them all for breaking the rules.
Tumblr media
Not kidding. The main cast is DEAD minus Xandra, as Death still wanted to bone her, but she refuses. So now Xandra is left while al lher friends are dead while the god and goddess head off in his caddy to go knock over mailboxes I guess.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts on Mexico-A-Go-Go:  Outside of .. certain parties, this was a REALLY fun one, with a great wrestling theme, a great mystery and the awesomeness that was the god of death, who was smooth, cool and thoroughly interesting and I wish there was a second season and his and xandra’s dynamic was really interesting. One of the series best, helped by the fact the Daisy bit while thoroughly irritating, was religated to a pretty funny subplot, with May being understandably skeptical of the plan, it somehow working and the sheer redicuonsess. It dosen’t make daisy tolerable, but it makes the episode better.

why is Ryan the one who's most similar to the Doctor?
Tumblr media
i lost the first version of this so let’s hope this goes better the second time around.  i’m answering these asks together bc in my mind they’re related to each other.  first i want to link you to this post, which is a character analysis of ryan in s11; now i’m going to try to do a more in-depth analysis of the specific moments that make me think that ryan is both very like her, & is in a way her favourite.
let’s start by looking at the moments where ryan’s action seem to actively parallel the doctor’s.  from right at the start, in twwfte, ryan defends himself for having touched the glowing squares by insisting that “you all would have done the same,” to which the doctor instantly agrees that she would.  immediately prior to that, he’s the first to follow her when she goes chasing after t’zim-sha.  in ghost monument, his immediate reaction to the tardis is a desire to press the buttons, which is really just such a doctor-y thing to do.
he’s also, imo, very like the doctor in the way he expresses anger.  he burns cold.  he tends towards snark, & the doctor’s attitude towards the companions in s12 is like a more intense version of ryan’s attitude towards graham in early s11.  his almost snarling response to the waitress in rosa is really reminiscent of the way the doctor tends to react to being condescended to.  also, his use of krasko’s temporal displacement weapon against him, stranding him in prehistory, seems like the sort of thing the doctor would very much like to do, though probably - probably - she’d stop herself.
there are several moments where ryan does what it feels like the doctor would do.  he physically blocks the door a spider’s trying to get through in arachnids, much like the doctor will in spyfall pt.1; it was particularly noticeable in praxeus, during the whole sequence when he’s investigating in peru, collecting a companion & a dead bird he carries around in his backpack.  god, i love him.  also, not for nothing, in orphan 55 he develops a crush on bella, who later turns out to be a very violent young woman, & he seems barely put off by being held at gunpoint.  he & the doctor clearly have the same type.
i definitely have to discuss cyhm, especially the way ryan’s nightmare reflects the doctor’s reality - a world on fire, a friend incredibly changed, tragedies which happened in their absence.  the parallels & particularly the contrasts between them in this episode are so interesting, & the episode ends with ryan questioning what travelling on the tardis really means for him.  maybe i’m biased, but i feel like ryan just gets the doctor.  there are so many moments when the two just seem to be on the same wavelength, right up to the moment where he’s the first to pick up on her suicide mission in timeless children.
but it’s more than that.  he’s the least noticeable in the early s12 tensions between the doctor & the companions, bc he’s probably the least confrontational about it up until fotj.  he seems like he doesn’t want to push, bc on some level he recognizes how fragile her facade is, & i think he’s also worried that they’re just not prepared to deal with the fallout - that’s it’s so much worse than any of them can imagine.  his resignation to his inability to help at the start of fotj, the way his head drops, all his expressions & body language, really get to me.
then, when he does step up to call the doctor out, he really gets to her.  she always reacts very strongly to him, she’s affected by him, & not only in negative ways!  back in twwfte, we see her watching him ride that bike, which i can’t help but find significant.  they also have a conversation about aaron & about responsibility at grace’s funeral that i think really impacted the way the doctor interacts with her companions, & it’s certainly what caused her to treat aaron with such hostility in resolution.
in ghost monument, she stays back to talk to ryan, which i think is the only moment she goes out of her way, unprompted, to offer emotional support to someone who doesn’t really obviously need it.  earlier in the episode, when ryan does his ‘call of duty’ bit, she goes out of her way to lecture him on appropriate tactics, despite his supposedly temporary presence, which he really takes to heart.  he’s the one she builds the rescue plan around in spyfall pt.2, the one she trusts to keep his head in a crisis (even over yaz!), & in ascension she gives him a defensive shield to set up instead of weapons like the others.
these are some of the things that make me say he’s her favourite; certainly he’s the one she seems the most attached to, the one she has the greatest connection to.  he’s also definitely the one who can get the biggest reaction out of her in s12, starting in fotj with the “thousands of years” bit which is in response to ryan expressing support, then again in diodati when his comments are what lead to her summit speech, then again in ascension when ryan pointing out that she can’t protect anyone gets her to shout at him.
but he’s also the one who reaffirms her sense of identity as the doctor in fotj, in a moment when she desperately needs that, & he always has faith in her & backs her up.  he’s a reminder of the good in her every time he commits to being what she wishes she could be, what she inspired him to be, most noticeably in his commitment to pacifism.  & he’s the one who lets her go, in timeless children, the one who holds yaz back & allows the doctor to be who she needs to be.
when i say he’s like her, i mean he’s the potential of her, the things she can’t be, the things she is absolutely determined he, unlike her, will get to keep being.  & when i say he’s her favourite, i mean she’s latched onto him, for his bright shining youth & for the things that make him like her, & especially for the things that make him different & better, for all the mistakes she can keep him from making.  & interestingly, after ghost monument, she avoids being alone with him, possibly bc she’s afraid of the influence she’ll have on him when there’s no buffer.
i really hope this is all coherent.

Sarah Jane Adventures: Death of the Doctor (2 episodes, s04e03, 2010)
The Doctor is dead. Long live the Doctor.
Luke is talking to the Bannerman Road Gang over webcam when UNIT arrive at Sarah Jane’s home. Colonel Tia Karim bears bad news: The Doctor is dead.
The Shansheeth discovered the body of a Time Lord and, upon confirming the DNA, organized a funeral. The Shansheeth delivered a holographic epitaph via Colonel Karim and Sarah Jane doesn’t believe the news, but Rani helps her to cope. Later that night, Sarah Jane muses with Luke that the Doctor cannot be dead. After all, she believes that she’d know somehow as though a piece of her was missing.
The Bannerman Road Gang take a road trip with UNIT to the funeral location at Mount Snowden, a massive UNIT base. While getting into the private car, Clyde experiences a jolt of energy, but he chalks it up to simple static electricity. When they arrive, they find out that the Brigadier is stranded in Peru and Liz Shaw is unable to leave the moon base in time for the service. They also see a group of Groske – a blue and tame version of the Graske – who tell Clyde that he smells like time. Clyde notices the energy on his hand and the Groske simply says that “he’s coming.”
The gang attend the gathering of remembrance where Sarah Jane requests that Karim open the coffin. The colonel replies that the Doctor was injured and a viewing is impossible. Sarah Jane notes that the last time that she saw the Doctor he was preparing for regeneration. He could have a completely different face now.
As the Shansheeth officiating the ceremony asks everyone to recollect their memories, Clyde recognizes the static as artron energy and a newcomer arrives. Enter: Jo Jones, previously known as Jo Grant. Sarah Jane recognizes her from the way that UNIT described her and they hit it off right away. Rani and Clyde meet Jo’s grandson Santiago who talks about the family’s globetrotting activism.
Jo is upset to learn that the Doctor returned for Sarah Jane. He never stopped in for her. But they share the belief that they’d feel it if the Doctor died (even on Metebilis III), so they start brainstorming his faked death. They also bond over their shared experiences on Peladon with the great beast Aggedor.
Meanwhile, Clyde pursues the mystery of the artron energy and we learn that the Shansheeth are trying to harvest the mourner’s memories of the Doctor using a memory weave that will kill the former companions. Clyde, Rani, and Santiago overhear the Shansheeth plot. They run back to Sarah Jane and Jo just in time for the Doctor to make contact through (and then exchange places with) Clyde.
Clyde’s on a red planet somewhere, but the Doctor is here. The companions catch up with the Doctor’s new face and the Time Lord confronts the Shansheeth. The Shanseeth reply with an energy beam and the sincerest wish that he rest in peace.
In the energy beam, the Doctor and Clyde swap places a couple of times. Once released, the Doctor runs with the assembled allies to safety behind a locked door. The Doctor grabs hands with Jo and Sarah Jane, spiriting “Smith and Jones” away to the red planet, the Crimson Heart. Clyde is left behind with Rani and Santiago in the locked room. They are soon rescued by the Groske and taken to his hiding spot in the ventilation system.
The Shansheeth, meanwhile, reveal that they have the TARDIS and are building a method to break in.
Sarah Jane and the Doctor work on the gadget that he used to swap places with Clyde while Jo muses about why the Doctor left her behind. After all, he did promise that he’d see her again. The Doctor reveals that, just before his regeneration, he visited every one of his former companions and is very proud of what Jo has done with her life.
Colonel Karim discovers where Rani, Clyde, and Santiago are hiding and locks them inside while turning up the heat. Luckily, the Doctor and his companions have fixed the device so they can return to Earth without leaving Clyde on the Crimson Heart. The Doctor saves the teenagers but Sarah Jane and Jo are captured by Karim and the Shansheeth.
The Shansheeth plan to use the memory weave to conjure a physical TARDIS key from the memories of the companions. They want to use the TARDIS to stop death on a universal scale and put an end to pain and suffering. Karim, on the other hand, merely wants to leave the planet and travel the stars.
The Doctor stops the memory weave’s operation by calling to the companions through the locked door and asking them to remember every adventure that he shared with them. Clyde and Rani also tell Sarah Jane to remember all of their adventures on Bannerman Road and Santiago prompts Jo’s memories of their Earthbound travels.
The memory weave overloads and begins a self-destruct sequence. Jo and Sarah Jane are trapped, but the Doctor reminds them of the lead-lined coffin. It provides just enough protection to shield the companions from the blast. The Shansheeth and Karim are destroyed and the Groske is amused by the smell of roast chicken.
Everyone hitches a ride home with the Doctor in the TARDIS. The companions say their farewells – Jo has no idea about the Time War, but why would she? – and the Doctor hies off to his next adventure. Rani and Clyde help Santiago figure out how to reunite with his parents, then Jo and Santiago say goodbye as they move on to Norway.
Sarah Jane tells her friends about the echoes of the Doctor around the globe: Tegan is fighting for aboriginal rights in Australia; Ian and Barbara Chesterton are Cambridge professors who are rumored not to have aged since the 1960s; Harry Sullivan is a doctor working on vaccines; Ben and Polly run an orphanage in India; and Dorothy McShane has raised millions through her company “A Charitable Earth”.
All of that from a simple Google search for “TARDIS”.
Long live the Doctor.
What a powerhouse story! Russell T Davies provided a story reflective of his years on Doctor Who, right down to the pacing and well-crafted prose. It’s also saturated with Doctor Who lore, including scenes from 36 adventures which I am not going to list here. Believe me, it’s tempting…
The attention to detail about regeneration – Jo knows about it since she met the First and Second Doctors – and the Last Great Time War is amazing. It’s also fun to watch the Doctor toying with Clyde about regeneration. The idea of 507 possible regenerations was a jest by this incarnation, but we know for a fact that regeneration can indeed result in changing into a form other than a white male.
I was amused by the Doctor musing about ventilation shafts, particularly in light of The Ark in Space, The Hand of Fear, and Planet of the Daleks. I also laughed about Amy and Rory’s marital adventures on the honeymoon planet. Ah, sentient planets.
Last but not least, the memory weave has a distinctive sound in science fiction history. It is unmistakably the activation sound for the proton packs in the Ghostbusters franchise. That takes me back.
Rating: 5/5 – “Fantastic!”
UP NEXT – Sarah Jane Adventures: The Empty Planet
The Timestamps Project is an adventure through the televised universe of Doctor Who, story by story, from the beginning of the franchise. For more reviews like this one, please visit the project’s page at Creative Criticality.

Definition and definition of film / film
While the players who play a role in the film are referred to as actors (men) or actresses (women). There is also the term extras that are used as minor characters with few roles in the film. This differs from the main actors, who have larger and more roles. As an actor and actress, good acting talent must be required that corresponds to the subject of the film in which he plays the leading role. In certain scenes, the role of the actor can be replaced by a stunt man or a stunt man. The existence of a stuntman is important to replace the actors who play difficult and extreme scenes that are usually found in action-action films. Movies can also be used to deliver certain messages from the filmmaker. Some industries also use film to convey and represent their symbols and culture. Filmmaking is also a form of expression, thoughts, ideas, concepts, feelings and moods of a person that are visualized in the film. The film itself is mostly fictional, though some are based on actual stories or on a true story. There are also documentaries with original and real images or biographical films that tell the story of a character. There are many other popular genre films, from action films, horror films, comedy films, romantic films, fantasy films, thriller films, drama films, science fiction films, crime films, documentaries and others. This is some information about the definition of film or film. The information has been cited from various sources and references. Hope it can be useful.

The first television shows were experimental, sporadic programs that from the 1930s could only be seen at a very short distance from the mast. TV events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the crowning of King George VI. In Britain in 19340 and the famous launch of David Sarnoff at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the United States, the medium grew, but World War II brought development to a halt after the war. The 19440 World MOVIE inspired many Americans to buy their first television, and in 1948 the popular Texaco Star Theater radio moved to become the first weekly television variety show that hosted Milton Berle and earned the name “Mr Television” demonstrated The medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment that could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the United States took place on September 4, 1951, when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco on AT & T’s transcontinental cable and microwave relay system was broadcasting to broadcasters in local markets has been. The first national color show (the 1954 Rose Parade tournament) in the United States took place on January 1, 1954. For the next ten years, most network broadcasts and almost all local broadcasts continued to be broadcast in black and white. A color transition was announced for autumn 1965, in which more than half of all network prime time programs were broadcast in color. The first all-color peak season came just a year later. In 19402, the last holdout of daytime network shows was converted to the first full color network season.
