Shutters I just lost a run where I had maxed out squad size and all three “boost damage 1 sec after skill” items (spinach, formula, curry), and the aspd +5 for 5 ingots with 50 ingots, and many operators that benefited heavily from that (Meteorite, Siege, Ayerscarpe, Exusiai, Gummy, Whisperrain, you get the idea)

I’m starting to think the issue is less with my operators or luck with items, but my strategy for phantom. How does one kill a theatre kid?

Without knowing HOW you lost I can only guess at what you're doing wrong, but it looks to me like you don't actually know how to attack Phantom.

So here's the deal. When unblocked, Phantom has 40% Physical and Arts evasion. This makes him MUCH tankier than he should be, and he's already packing a lot of HP at 80k.

You've got two strategic options (and one cheesy counter that gets expanded on later)

Cage this guy - Phantom's ability to jump past operators blocking him isn't spammable. It's on a 10 second cooldown on his first jump, and 15 seconds for every jump after. If you bait out his jump early with a fast redeploy, you have ten seconds to block him where his evasion is disabled and he's vulnerable to getting his ass kicked. Keep in mind that he hits like a truck (1500 ATK) and ignores 40% of his enemy's DEF, so you'll want someone with a huge HP pool or evasion to actually block him. If you set up Phantom's killbox properly ahead of his path, you can burst him very quickly.

Overwhelm him with sheer volume - While Phantom is immune to all disables in the game besides Irene's lift, he ISN'T immune to slows. This means that if you have a lot of ranged damage and operators that can slow him down like Suzuran or Saria S3, you can simply hit him enough times that his evasion won't save him. Your main DPS options should be those with high ASPD and damage like May (who can also slow him) or Thorns. Slow, powerful hits aren't going to cut it here, you need to attack him so many times he can't dodge everything.

And now for the cheesy counter, ignoring evasion. In the future, Heavyshooters will get a module that makes their "High accuracy point blank shot" trait actually mean something and let them ignore evasion, but until then, Fartooth with S3 can rip into Phantom from his spawn with her infinite range and anti-evasion. You may also use True damage to ignore his Evasion, but without Civilight Eterna I don't really recommend this method because of Phantom's enormous HP pool making this a risky strat.

5. "What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?"

You would think it's his own themesong, but no. It's Sleeve by Erin Coburn, because the theme of finding new life and purpose with love, even enough to "throw away my storyline and make a new one with you", is peak Ebenholz to me. (And also fits my hc of him learning to play guitar to spite the Witch King, hellaaaaa)

12. "What's a headcanon you have for this character?"

Ebenholz spent a lot of time in the Rhodes Island A/V room, during his early days as an operator. The low lights were comforting when his headaches were bad and he didn't want to go to his room, and having not gotten the chance to watch movies growing up, he had quite a few to catch up on. With this, he's probably befriended Whisperrain and Robin, among other characters. Both of them are fairly quiet and respectful of boundaries enough that Ebenholz would appreciate their presence.

24. "What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?"

The more I think about it? Gladion from Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Looks super edgy and acts standoffish, but actually has a huge heart? A rich kid running away from a legacy that tried to trap and control him? Temperamental around most, but softer and protective of a counterpart in white? Ties to genetic experiments trying to recreate a terrible power?!

They are so similar the more I think about it. I am exploding from this revelation.

After reading Whisperrain's operator record I really want like, a vignette event or something focused on the Rhodes Island movie club they definitely have now

Like you've got Nian, Dusk, Robin, Whisperrain, Fiametta etc being so into movies, with the end of Whisperrain's oprec showing Robin inviting her to watch a movie with her. I really want an event where we'd get to see them all just hanging out, maybe going on a small adventure

idk whether I wanna use my medic token on Whisperrain (shes 1 potential away from talent boost) or save it for Silence (needs like at least 2 more copies before the token helps)

Whisperrain losing her memories with each “death” is also why she’s keen on keeping the tickets to the movies she goes to and why movie tickets are her Token item: After reforming, she can look at her belongings and gauge approximately how much stuff she did and how much time passed. Plus, you having a matching ticket means that you were important to her, even if she can’t remember. It’s proof she existed, that she existed in others’ lives, and that others were important to her.
