We were in a funk, in need of inspiration and change.  So we did it, and pulled the trigger.  With a single click, it was done.  BOOM.. and on Sunday we received our first Blue Apron.  At $60/week, it’s a bit hefty considering we only got three meals (for two people each) when we normally spend close to $70 for a whole week’s worth.
First meal was “Seared chicken with French lentils and goat cheese salad.”  It was.. “okayyy” and “meh” were the reactions.  The husband enjoyed the lentils and chicken, and I wasn’t too thrilled with the goat cheese.  There was too much tang that I guess i’m not used to any more.  I’d have to admit though that the chicken was great quality, resulting in such taste that it just needed salt and pepper.  But the lentils, I’ve never really liked enough to buy again.  I had heard so much about it via FoodNetwork but maybe I overcooked them before, and just got sick of them, this was not fun to eat.  If I could, I probably would’ve swapped out the lentils for couscous or some other kind of carb, or just do away with it and add more chicken to a giant bowl of argula, goat cheese, and radishes.  Did I tell you that radishes were on my list of yums lately?  They add the right amount of crunch and some offer a little heat that is unexpected.  No sugar like you’ll find in pickles (Wickles, you’ll still hold a place near and dear to me) and no other ingredients.
Tomorrow’s menu will include the “Shitake mushroom burger with miso aioli” and some homemade loco-moco, sans rice.  I’ll post tomorrow and hopefully get some pictures in.
