i really think having an emotional connection is so important to bakugou sexually.
like, i think he has to be in the exact right mood in order to get off by himself at home alone. can't be too tired, can't be too stressed out, can't have too much on his mind regarding work or other things, and even if it's been a while and his body is sensitive and wanting for it—if his head is not right, he can sit there for hours and never reach his peak.
which is why i think ultimately he doesn't do it that often, because it pisses him off to waste the time and not find the release. makes him more agitated. i think porn for the most part doesn't help him because he's too picky, literature probably helps a bit more, but he's still picky, and his imagination can get him there, but his headspace has to be right.
i think he's slow to hands-on stuff, when your relationship starts, and you can tell he's going to be like that pretty quickly. he responds to your touch like it's an accident; you reach out to hold his hand and he pulls his back like your knuckles have knocked by chance, like you're too close. it's not meant to be a rejection of any kind, it's just—he doesn't want you to touch him if you don't want to. if you don't mean to.
but when he realizes that you mean to, that you want to—
it has him skyrocketing. surprises him terribly, the affect you have on his body, and how quickly, because not even he can always have that affect on his own body.
you reach up to push some hair out of his face and your fingers skirt his cheekbone and he feels like a stupid gross disgusting puddle of mush. you loop your arm through his and lean into him while you're walking and he feels like a prize, like he's yours and you're his and you want everybody to know and that gives him a rush of pride that makes his head woozy.
he's dropping you off at home after date number he-doesn't-know and you're staring up at him outside your front door and he knows he should kiss you so he does and his whole body lights up with a heat he doesn't recognize at all. just from that.
and then he finally gets it: that heart-aching, stomach turning, body shaking want he's only ever heard about, and now finally feels.

Older coworker Bakugou who’s not really your boss but is assigned as your “tutor” for the first few weeks (I’ve never worked in my life can you tell?)
He’s stuck with the rookie and he hates it, but you’re so sweet and shy around everyone, having just moved in to the big city while being a small town citizen your whole life. It’s a big change, people are rude and scary but you’re finally getting started on your dream! You’re an optimist, eager to meet new people, always saying hi and have a good rest of the day! Enjoy your lunch! It makes him sick
And still he doesn’t explode, after all he’s a grown ass man he can handle a dummy like you.
But oh when your trial week is over and he’s finally done being your training wheels, you get assigned a project together. Your boss is way too busy to attend some of his less important meetings, so you two will have to cover for him.
And Bakugou gets to see you in action, embarrassing yourself in the real world outside of the office.
You greet the bus driver on the way to your first meeting of the day, earning a scowl and tsks from the people behind you in line.
You apologize for pushing through the crowd of people as you’re crossing the street, the masses of sweaty limbs not even sparing you a glance. “Sorry!” “Coming through” “Ow! Sorry! I’m really sorry!”
Bakugou is hard of hearing, but he’s pretty sure you’ve apologized at least fifty times in the span of an hour. To people you don’t know. To people who don’t care about you.
You say hello every time you enter a shop, and you try to talk to strangers at the supermarket near the office. You say goodbye and thank you to the bus driver every time you get off. You smile at moody teenagers and offer them your seat.
After the first month trying to ignore you and your little antics, Bakugou grows tired.
“Oi, rookie.” He calls you that because he can’t remember your name. “I know you’re new to the city and all, but you really gotta stop being so friendly and naïve or you’ll get mugged or somethin’ mkay?”
You stare at him with fish eyes and a downturned mouth and he can feel his ears burning pink.
“What’s wrong with being friendly?” Katsuki swears your eyes are getting watery, and he doesn’t know what he’ll do if he makes you cry.
“There’s nothing wrong with it, ‘s just that people here are shit. They don’t care about you, so you shouldn’t be wasting your time being so nice that’s all” He tries to be gentle-r but he’s one of those rude big city people too.
To his surprise you furrow your brows and say “I won’t become an asshole just because I’m surrounded by them. So don’t worry about me, I’ll keep doing my thing and if someone tries to hurt me I trust you’ll tackle them down.” You throw him a teasing smile and get back to work.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems like a lot of people still don't know this. ashley reese, who met alex at that pool party and interviewed him like a year ago is treated by the fandom like she's some kind of angel and is very much loved (even though she did nothing special?) when she's... well, I'll let you decide.
she thinks miles is such a bad person that he shouldn't be allowed to have a dog (x)
she very much enjoys him getting a really bad review (x)
she's glad about him not joining am for 505 (x)
she calls out am fans who still like alex and alexa, even though she's the exact same ("when she gets comments like this all the time" girl, you're the one writing similar shit. she has other posts discussing alexa and alex, but they're old, like the ones from the last screenshot) (x, x, x, x, x)

The way some people characterise Buffy in fics like you described genuinely put me off Buffy fandom for years, it was absolutely everywhere, in Spuffy fics, in faith/buffy fics, it felt like I couldn't read a fic without the obligatory 'Buffy apologises to whoever the fuck for being so mean' and I just stopped, it was so baffling
For real its so weirdly pervasive. It genuinely blows my mind bc I totally get the urge to use your fic to call out a character/plot point you don't like, more power to you. Like I'm constantly imagining rewrites of the scenes where Xander is at his most insufferable but no one in-show is verbalising obvious holes in his bullshit (my big one is that besides a one off line from Buffy that everyone in the show ignores and a DELETED line from Giles is that NO ONE calls him on his absolutely infuriating "I was jealous of Angel being with the girl I like and I'm gonna have the gall to pretend it was bc I saw him turning evil coming" BULLSHIT)
But like. Buffy? You came out of this show and the person you had beef with and want to call out is BUFFY? THE VAMPIRE SLAYER? The protagonist of all time? Bc she's mean sometimes :( people try to apologise for trying to kill her and she's so unsympathetic :( she carries out her responsibility as the Slayer whether she wants to or not even if the person she's targeting is a character I like :( why won't she apologise. why won't she apologise. why does she insist on taking up space. why can't she just be nice all the time. yes my ao3 tag is princessspuffy why do you ask. yeah I know their relationship is abusive but I think Spike would forgive her :)
