Snowy day at our little house. I’m clearing off the cars and shoveling snow to clear our walkway. The Hot Wife is cleaning the house. I’m gonna go for a hike through the woods later this afternoon.
A damn fine day!

i think it fucks immensely that bk moon went out of his way to 1) establish rakiel wished to live a long life and eventually pass away of old age, 2) have him very briefly envy an immortal being only to be told very clearly to be careful what he wishes for by that very same person because living forever isn't all it's cracked up to be, 3) make the main antagonist be another immortal being who is so desperate to die he's willing to destroy the universe just to finally rest and 4) have said antagonist psychologically torture rakiel with the threat of making him live for a thousand years as everyone he loves and knows eventually grows old and dies and becomes nothing but forgotten memories.
only to then end the novel by making rakiel also immortal
like. god. it's so fucking good i love it. i'm not being sarcastic i genuinely think it fucks and it's one of the best ways bk moon could've wrapped up the plot.
it's a happy ending by all means but it has consequences and through the entire novel we've been shown and told over and over again just how heavy the consequences are and/or will be on rakiel.
he got his happy ending but it was at a price and by the last time we see him he's only just starting to pay for it.
it's great i love it
#i talk a lot <3#cpsm#cpsm spoilers#rakiel magentano#i also think it's funny that this puts bk moon in the very awkward position when it comes to his 'romance' with adeline#because either rakiel allows her to remain human and sees her grow old and eventually die just like acheros threatened him with#(and like he will do with absolutely everyone he loves anyway <3)#or he keeps her alive and frozen in time just like acheros wanted to do with him forcing her to be cut off from the world#in most ways that matter and see the people she loves grow old and die. again. just like acheros threatened to do with him :)#like. either way. the situations sucks for them <33#i do think it's cheap if he can make her immortal without it being a big deal. because. why wouldn't it be.#it would be absolutely broken if absolutes can just. make people immortal for funsies whenever they want. that would be bad writing.#but again i also think it's cheap that he made alicia an angel for no other reason than bc someone needed to remind us lloyd is married#to a woman actually. like. she doesn't even do anything why did you ruin the absolute tragedy that is being an immortal being surrounded#by very mortal humans just to make awful 'my wife is annoying' jokes. i hate you.#sigh. it's lose/lose when it comes to women with this man and his choices.#either they're fridged to make his male characters sad or they become the butt of misogynistic jokes. i cannot fucking win.#ANYWAY. do i think any of this was on purpose? maybe idk i certainly hope so and want to believe it is because otherwise it would be#too much of a coincidence but like. this is also the man who wrote a character very explicitly and clearly wishing to live a quiet life#with his family in his middle-of-nowhere estate where nothing ever happens with no contact at all with royalty and court#so he can laze about and do absolutely nothing. and then married him to a queen who cannot stand lazy people and squeezes the last bit#of talent of everyone around her. and he saw nothing wrong with this. so like. i genuinely cannot tell with this man sometimes 🙃🙃

love the idea of transhet laios
#random thoughts#dungeon meshi#chilchuck watches in horror as laios slowly animorphs into his second wife#'he didn't have a second wife?' not yet babeyyy#i am neutral verging on negative on trans chilchuck (negative being mainly because i see it everywhere)#i don't like it when people take the male character who looks the youngest and make him trans like 'well duh'#so he's cis to meee. and bisexual but quiet about it in the same way he's quiet about literally everything else about him#he knows what being trans is because one of his daughters is trans :] flertom#the way she treated her transition was throwing herself headfirst into gender roles like wanting to get married and worrying about her look#which laios definitely won't do (she was horrified when she saw how she would have stayed in the village and had a family in the au viewer)#but it'd be interesting to see chilchuck try to be supportive by encouraging her to try traditionally feminine things#which laios wouldn't be very interested in and probably wouldn't be able to connect the dots on her own that he's trying to be supportive#so she'd just be like. questioning why chilchuck keeps getting her weird gifts#pink and frilly and aaaaaaa#probably use some of the gifts for weird things. uses a sewing kit for taxidermy.#appreciates the new baking supplies probably#he gets her a journal which she genuinely uses#chilchuck seeing how she reacts to his gifts and knowing she doesn't get what he's doing but he's not gonna open up about it#so here have some more stuff until you get the point#btw this is unrelated but does anyone else think it's weird it's marcille who was able to put herself into the shoes of chilchuck's wife?#like she literally viewed him as a child for the longest time but now she's miss empathy???#honestly i think it'd've made more sense if laios did it? like how he put together the cannibalism thing#like i know he's not good with social cues but it could have been a chance to demonstrate how well he knows chilchuck#laios in another life would be the world's greatest detective

Farm Lexa has this hand bound book she made back when she was around sixteen. She made it to keep her pressed flowers. The very first page has pressed daisies and a date below them followed by a happy scribble, "Clarke asked me on a date."
The dandelion Clarke put in her hair after their first kiss. A black eyed susan they picked after their first time as they walked around the run down farm.
The petals of the deep red roses Clarke gifted Lexa the day they decided to get engaged.
One of each of the flowers Lexa walked down the aisle with. One of each of the flowers from Clarke's bouquet.
The english primrose that popped up in Lexa's garden not long after little Madi laughed for the first time.
The Lilly of the Valley a baby Saige found fascinating because fairies lived in them.
The poppies the twins ended up ripping from her garden because it matched their hair.
The small piece of baby's breath that showed up around the tree where they buried their baby soon after Lexa stepped out of her grief.
The sunflower petals that remind her of Clarke and their little sunshine boy Aden.
Every wild flower the kids offered her. At least one petal from the bouquets Clarke got her. Her favorite flowers from her garden. The ones she found on walks. All dated, all with a note on why they made her smile.

Betty (1992)
"You know, I wanted to ask Thérèse when I saw her in the cellar. I wanted to say: 'Show me your wound.' I wanted to have a wound, too. I've always been chasing that wound. I must be looking for pity. I'm not a victim. I'm not to be pitied. No one ever hurt me. I'm the one who did the hurting. I'm a fool. Say it! I blew it all. I've soiled everything, myself included."
#betty#1992#french cinema#claude chabrol#georges simenon#marie trintignant#stéphane audran#jean françois garreaud#yves lambrecht#christiane minazzoli#pierre vernier#nathalie kousnetzoff#pierre martot#thomas chabrol#yves verhoeven#henri attal#coco bakonyi#emmanuelle bataille#mélanie blatt#powerful and devastating in equal measures. a tightly focused study of one vulnerable soul in freefall. as the titular Betty#Trintignant gives a truly phenomenal performance; her character is a self destructive alcoholic who has just broken up her marriage to the#high society son of a general and signed a document promising not to contact their young children. in a drunken reverie she stumbles into#the reassuring figure of long term Chabrol collaborator (and former wife) Audran‚ who takes it upon herself to try and nurse the younger#woman back from the brink of oblivion. what follows is a quiet‚ unhurried study of a desperate psyche‚ all the more affecting for the#subdued‚ nearly vacant performance Trintignant gives: she is a woman hollowed out by her experiences and her addictions#i was surprised to read reviews with negative responses to the character (even in reviews that appreciated the film); i felt nothing but#pity for poor Betty‚ as much a victim of her vices and her psychological makeup as the people around her‚ perhaps more so#some took issue with the very ending in which she appears to 'win' and to start a new life but i think that reading ignores everything that#comes before: there can be little doubt that Betty will destroy this too‚ that we are simply witnessing the end of one cycle and the#beginning of another. challenging‚ soul searching stuff but a truly great central performance from an actor soon cruelly taken from us

Sometimes I remember how Elizabeth Swann's story ends and get all annoyed again just like little kid me, she spent the whole time craving adventure and to be out on the sea and then after everything, after becoming the pirate king, she ends up playing 'I think I like this little life' and playing house waiting for 10 years when she can see her husband again as he can come on land :/

thalia is so growing on me i love my rich woman who has Problems.. i gave her ice powers for like. the elsa vibes.
#but im like damn... gale...karlach....stay away from her... or else ur gonna explode in the end....#really a coin toss between those two and im gonna be sad at the end but that's the thalia experience 😭😭#also i dont think she's gonna save the tieflings... not bc she's evil but she generally doesn't care... and curing the tadpole is her utmos#priority. like she's already stressed with her chaotic magic killing her if she loses 50/50 now you have to add brain worms on top of that?#funny that shri'iia does more heroic deeds and she's like. the evil aligned chara#but thalia is generally very cold in a sense that she's always looking at the bigger picture and she's willing to sacrifice/disregard#who gets caught in the crossfire.. like that's just another responsibility she has to bear for Her. and she's very the type to sacrifice he#own happiness for her Duty vibe. like i think she's just learned how to be content with whatever she's left with.#also she's her father's heir bc she's the only child to her father's First Wife. and thalia get step siblings along the way but i think tha#grief of losing her mother / becoming an adult/handling adult affairs quickly made her jaded on a lot of stuff#and she feels like it's her responsibility to lead her noble house to higher pastures so her step siblings can live freely#like she's just taking all the work to herself - as the Heir. and that's what she was doing UNTIL she gets the wild magic#now suddenly she feels like she's cursed. and the fact that it's chaotic by nature and so dangerous..!! she can't stay in court or at home#over the fear of harming someone. and she's learnt that to get rid of a problem you always have to go to the root of it#hence why she's travelling around finding more info and source of the wild magic in hopes to cure herself from it#and she kind of put her life on Pause bc she believes she can't get anywhere with this curse. but its like gworl u put ur life on pause lon#before that.. anyway her end goal is that once she cures herself and she's normal again she'll prob marry some other old money heir#set up trusts for her siblings and live a quiet life. but that wont happen obvi hehe#also one of the siblings' name is melpomene... being named from the goddess of comedy thalia is kinda boring lol#essentially her story is like. she learns how to have fun. essentially. depending on how i rp her idk yet actually

reading my own oc lore and being gagged as if i didnt write it
#robin and aria you will rule the world forever and ever#me when theres a slow connection forming between ppl who cant stand each other and they have to come to terms w the fact that#they need each other desperately#not enemies to lovers bc theyre not lovers. they kiss sloppy style bc they want to break each others bones#its the adrenaline of fighting w someone#the inherent homoeroticism of pinning someone against a wall bc you hate them so much it makes you want to get closer to their#beating heart. so you can feel the fear and excitement manifest physically#also its an office romcom#and its also an expression of the despair the typical heterosexual lifestyle instills in me#marriage and children and a suburban home where no one cares about what happens to you#where youre just supposed to cook and clean and love him and do his laundry and watch tv and not have friends and babysit#thats total and utter misery to me#this one goes out to all the girlfriends and wives who are stated as such before theyre given personhood#women who are mothers and sisters and daughters and caretakers before theyre friends and workers and hobbyists#theyre loving and kind and sweet and quiet and friendly before theyre funny and weird and angry and righteous and cool#im sorry that the world puts us in these roles and i hope so desperately you get the relief of living a full life one day#that they dont open your funeral with how good of a mother and wife you were. how well you served the men in your life#anyways#sorry for dumping all that the state of the world just makes me feel things ig

The longer I am alive, the more my brain replays that scene in Lilo and Stitch where the scientist is watching Stitch fret around at night, and the scientist says something like, "poor thing, doesn't even have fond memories to keep it warm at night" or something
As a kid, I didn't realize how comforting memories could be, and I rarely had the luxury to create them.
I am glad I survived. It would have been easier, with fond memories to comfort me during painful times. I have many now, though, and they are indeed good company.

Started the day with the Hot Wife making some really banging hash out of the leftover corned beef and cabbage from New Year’s Day.
We both spent the day cleaning the house and prepping for delivery of the new stove we’re getting tomorrow.
Now we’re finishing up the evening reading: her a non-fiction book on infrastructure and me a film study of Queen Christina (1933, MGM, starring Greta Garbo), a movie that I love.
It’s been a good end to a crappy week. Hope y’all had a good day too.

I'm not even joking or extrapolating when I say the safety of this man has been giving me anxiety for the past few months. I've stopped reading the updates right before work because I know if he dies I will start genuinely crying
