She'd never expected to be pregnant on her wedding day. It was nobody's dream, to be round and swollen while stuffed into a pretty white dress that you just know would look so much better if you weren't pregnant, on your feet all day, unable to partake in any of the drinking.

Her bachelorette party wasn't all that. But she didn't want it to be. The only people she would have invited were the other wags, girls she didn't know all that well. No, her bachelorette party was her and Olivia getting their hair and nails done.

They ended the day getting dinner, just the two of them. They sat there, sharing a too big pizza while Olivia went over her details plans of the wedding.

It was the best bachelorette party ever.

Daniel had two bachelor parties. One that was organised by Max and Lando to be the wildest night of his life, with almost all of the grid accompanying them. And one where he could invite Milo.

The party with Milo was mini golf. Carlos was happy to carry Milo around on his shoulders, teach him all that he knew. The boys had all agreed to let Milo win, but he didn't have to know that. After the golf they had dinner and drinks.

One thing about Milo was he couldn't keep his mouth shut about the baby. Maybe Daniel should have reminded him that Baby Ricciardo was a secret, but he didn't expect Milo to just blurt it out, either.

But none of the drivers were surprised. They couldn't be surprised about baby Ricciardo, not when the couple hadn't exactly been good at hiding it. Daniel's hand on her stomach, the little list of baby names they'd all seen on his phone.

The party without Milo, when Milo was at home with Olivia and his momma, it really was a party. Loud music, drinks, dancing, it had everything. But, the moment Daniel got more than three drinks in his system, he was talking about her.

Arm over Max's shoulder as he slurred out his name and how much he loved her. "I want to have another girl," he said to Max, but it was barely audible. "A little girl that looks just like her."

When she had her first dress fitting, there wasn't a bump. Or, at least, the bump did little to change her frame. Her dream dress fit like a glove and Daniel's mother was crying.

It was naïve to think that the dress would still fit by the time the wedding rolled around. Her bump had gotten exponentially bigger, to the point where she couldn't hit it anymore. Now that the drivers knew, it was only time that the rest of the world knew.

They didn't announce it in any way. No, Daniel's Instagram usually had a picture of her in his photo dumps and this was no exception. Just, this time, her bump was visible in the picture.

If the world of F1 was losing its collective shit, neither of them noticed. The Ricciardo family was wrapped up in their own little bubble, just the way they liked it.

A week before the wedding, her dream dress wasn't fitting. Why the fuck wasn't it fitting? Well, she knew why. It was stupid to think anything would fit over her bump.

"I hate this baby," she said through tears as she rubbed her bump. No, she didn't hate baby Ricciardo, not in the slightest. Actually, she loved baby Ricciardo more than anything. But still, she couldn't help but wish she wasn't pregnant.

The dress she wore on her wedding day wasn't her dream dress. She couldn't wear those cute white heels she wanted to wear, couldn't even see her feet.

As she stared at herself in the mirror, just an hour away from being walked down the aisle, an hour away from marrying the love of her life, she was ready to cry. She held it back, though, couldn't afford to ruin her makeup. "What're we gonna do with you?" She whispered as she cradled her bump.

"Momma?"

She looked at Milo in the mirror before she turned towards him. "C'mere, baby," she said and held her hands out towards him. Fuck, how was he almost seven?

As her son wrapped his arms around her, she wanted time to stop. Just stop, let her live in this moment forever. He was growing up so damn fast, he was going to be a big brother soon. "You look beautiful, momma," he said.

This time, she couldn't help the tears. Stupid pregnancy hormones. "Thank you, Miley," she said through a shaky breath as she stood up and grabbed a tissue. Gently she dabbed at her eyes, trying to save her makeup.

She smoothed her dress over her bump and took Milo's hand. "Let's go become Ricciardos."

Daniel had never been this nervous before. Not in his first race back after McLaren had let him go. He was sweating in his suit as Max stood with him. All of their guests were seated, but the most important people were missing.

The door opened and Olivia and one of her friends, one that had been over a few times, walked in. They tossed the petals out of the little white basket as she walked in behind her.

Daniel knew her relationship with her family was... strenuous, at best. That was why they weren't at the wedding. With her father not there to walk her down the aisle, Milo held her hand.

Daniel's breath caught in his throat. He knew she wasn't in her dream dress, not the dress that matched Olivia's, but she still looked amazing. Holy fuck, it was enough to bring tears to her eyes. But that wasn't what actually did it.

Milo was the one walking her down the aisle. Milo in his little suit that near matched Daniels. He stood tall and proud, head held high as he walked his mother towards his step father. 

The kids sat together through the ceremony. Milo couldn’t stop himself from fiddling with the little pieces of petals as his mother got married. They were incredibly well behaved throughout, with Olivia’s grandparents, and Milo’s grandparents now, too, keeping them company. 

This close, Daniel could see the faults in her makeup. He didn’t care about the faults, she looked gorgeous with or without it. But still, Daniel could see the smudges under her eyes as he slipped the ring onto her finger. 

Mrs Ricciardo. She was Mrs Ricciardo now. 

Daniel didn’t say anything about the evidence of her tears as he kissed her. And, once he had his mouth on her, he never wanted to stop kissing her. He couldn’t dip her, like he wanted to, but his hand cradled her bump, cradled baby Ricciardo. His baby. She was his wife and she was carrying his baby. 

This was the best day of his life. 

Their family and friends were cheering as he walked her out of the church and into the car. Even then, even in the car, he couldn’t keep his lips on her. But he had to make sure she was okay, that took precedent. Even knowing that, Daniel couldn’t pull his lips away from her own. So the words were mumbled against her lips. “Were you crying?”

He tried to sound concerned, by her lips against his had his voice coming out as more of a desperate whine. 

But, as soon as he said it, she pulled away. “I’m fine, Danny,” she said and went to rub at her eyes, rub away the evidence of her tears.

Daniel caught her wrists. “You look beautiful,” he whispered and kissed her again. “My wife looks beautiful.”

The way she looked up at him, fuck, he could have kept her in that car forever. “Say it again.”

“My wife.”

When they arrived at the reception venue, their friends and family were there, waiting. As soon as they climbed out of the car, Milo and Olivia were pulling away from their grandparents, racing towards them. Daniel couldn’t help but pick Olivia up and place her on his hip as Milo held his mothers leg.

“Are we a family now?” Olivia asked, her voice coming out almost like a demand. 

But nobody could blame her. She’d been waiting for this moment for a year and a half. 

Daniel rolled his eyes, but he was grinning. “We always were a family, Badger.”

There was no part of her wedding that the new Mrs Ricciardo didn’t enjoy. She wasn’t in her dream dress, but, now she had that ring on her finger, now she was married to the love of her life, she didn’t much care. 

She danced, but she didn’t dance the night away, like she had dreamed. She couldn’t help but be emotional as she sat with Daniel’s parents, her mother and father in law, watching the guests at her wedding. They were dancing more than she was, at her own wedding. 

Holding her bump, speaking softly to baby Ricciardo, she watched as her husband and her children danced. Daniel’s grin was so wide as the three of them were the centre of attention on the dance floor. That was the man she loved. That was the man she married. 

“Your daddy, your siblings and I can’t wait to meet you,” she whispered to baby Ricciardo as her mother and father in law watched on, hearts melting. “You’ve got the best daddy going.”

And, as Daniel put Olivia down after spinning her around, he looked over to his wife. She smiled at him, a smile he’d never forget. As Olivia went to dance with Lando and Max took Milo to get something to drink, Daniel walked over to her. 

“Hi, baby,” he said as his hand met her bump. And then he looked up at his wife, meeting her eyes. “Hi, Mrs Ricciardo.”

“Hi, Mr Ricciardo.”

He kissed her, and she never wanted to let him go.

Oh my gosh, such a good question to ask! 😆 A very hard one too Cassie, lemme think on this 🤔

Okay, a few things that would be a must would be:

A "Meanwhile, on the boat..." moment, or perhaps a montage of moments where things are happening throughout the MCU movies that happened post-TFATWS and Sam and Bucky are just 😂 on the boat, hearing about the events after the fact. I keep thinking about the scene in season 7 of Supernatural where they montage Dean commenting on what Castiel does with his new godlike powers while Dean fixes his car, but it doesn't have to be like that (3:16-3:46 here for reference lol).

Sam needs to save Bucky from falling. Sam had someone he couldn't save in the air. Bucky didn't have anyone to save him when he fell. Sam and Bucky both need that catharsis and it's wild that didn't happen in the first season.

Sam flying around as Bucky snipes at things 😂 Again - how did that not happen in the first season?

Sam and Bucky must either be already roommates or looking for an apartment which will be the place they will live in together.

Sarah, AJ, and Cass must be in it as well as other people we've seen like Carlos, Tommy, Isaiah, and Eli.

Another song by Curtis Harding must close the show's next sunset ending (it MUST be a good ending where they look into the sunset again, I'm sorry, I don't make the rules). Perhaps Can't Hide It by Curtis Harding?

Joaquín! There must be more Jay, I refuse to believe there wouldn't be so much more Jay in a season two.

FLASHBACKS. WHERE. WERE. THE. FLASHBACKS. Gimme Sam and Riley flashbacks, flashbacks of Sam with his family, gimme more info on Sam.

Can we???? Get more info on Sarah too???? Like was she married before??? Who are Cass and AJ's dad or dads??? How does she feel about Sam disappearing for a huge chunk of years??? I just want to know more about her.

And GIDEON. GIVE SAM HIS OLDER BROTHER.

Acknowledgment that Sam found Bucky in Europe but kept Bucky's secret and visited Bucky. Also that Sam visited Bucky during his time as a goatherder in Wakanda, possibly with a reference to the costco tub of lube 😂

MORE EPISODES. GIVE US MORE EPISODES. GIVE US TEN EPISODES AT LEAST, YOU COWARDS.

Things I can live without but I think would be a waste if they aren't in a hypothetical season two:

A huge and exciting action sequence during a New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade with Sam being the King of that parade.

There's a team of villainous jugglers in the Marvel comics called the Death-Throws. I really want them as secondary comedic villains who may or may not be kind of good people a la Jessie, James, and Meowth from Team Rocket in Pokemon movies. Just let Sam and Bucky have some comedy villains in the background doing their thing, Marvel.

Visiting Steve on the Moon. I just think Sam and Bucky deserve space shenanigans. I will also take a Facetime, if that's too out of budget, though.

Misty Knight cameo where Sam and Misty either imply or outright talk about being exes. Probably amicable, though, it would be funny if Sam's a bit awkward about it, but Misty's chill with him.

Karli resurrection. She deserved more of a redemption arc than Walker. Bring her back to life, Disney, I dare you.

Bucky and Falcon!Redwing don't get along. More because Bucky is jealous than anything else.

A VISIT TO WAKANDA! Do they go to Birnin Zana? Do they visit the town Bucky was living in as a goatherder? Do they go to Ayo and Aneka's home for dinner? Maybe they possibly only let Sam into the country while Ayo is like "I told you to lie low for a while, White Wolf" to Bucky 😂

Baron Zemo can have a cameo, if only because Anthony Mackie was bummed that Daniel Brühl isn't a part of Cap 4.

Wildest Options I Don't Think Would Happen But I Would Love:

SamBucky wedding. It all takes place the days leading up to their wedding. Or, if I'm being more realistic, a wedding. Like, if, say Sarah and Rhodey were getting married or Carol and Valkyrie or perhaps Ayo and Aneka.

SamBucky kiss? Though, again, highly doubt that and I'm really okay with SamBucky not being canon.

Fourth wall break where Feige himself walks into a room, sits down, and apologizes about how he treated Sam Wilson's character in the MCU and promises to do better. He pulls out an entire slide show and the episode is just him talking about how he will be integrating Sam more thoroughly into the MCU. I'm talking how specifically Sam will cameo, where he will cameo, pitches for other projects Sam will be heavily tied to, the works.

FOLLIES FOLLIES FOLLIES. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE(?)

Last night, Carnegie Hall was New York's hottest gay club as every one of us turned up to weep over Sondheim's breathtaking score, played by a divine 30-piece orchestra. Fifty Broadway actors shared the roles and songs of this wonderful show, culminating in a lineup straight out of our wildest dreams.

Though we were robbed of a Donna Murphy triumph with "Could I Leave You?" due to filming schedule changes, we received the impromptu comedy show of the year as Beth Leavel grappled with a broken mic stand and brought the house down anyway.

Kate Baldwin as another eleventh-hour addition proved to be the best moment of the night. Her "Losing My Mind" will go down in history as one of the most divine we will ever hear. Not since Marin Mazzie has a theatre been so rapt, so silent, so in awe. She's always struck me as a Phyllis, but now proves she has the range.

Jennifer Holliday does what she wants, and what she wants was a smooth and seductive "I'm Still Here" full of gravitas even as she meandered far from the written notes and rhythms. She turned a five-minute showstopper into a nine-minute showstopper complete with a standing ovation to open up act two.

Karen Ziemba led six of our finest dancing Broads over sixty (or even seventy)(Mamie Duncan-Gibbs, Ruth Gottschall, JoaAnn M. Hunter, Dana Moore, Michele Pawk, and Margo Sappington) in a "Who's That Woman" original choreography to a standing ovation.

So many thrilling performances, one after the other. I am deeply in love with Barbara Walsh now, and it's honestly a crime she and Carolee Carmello were so underutilized by only having "Waiting for the Girls Upstairs" (Phyllis and Sally don't get much singing in that number, and it's a tragedy). I need to seriously contemplate the Barbara-Phyllis/Carolee-Sally dynamic immediately.

I am now dead. I have ascended. I will never come back to earth again. But the final tributes broke me. The reveal that Sondheim said in a private zoom reunion that Follies was his very favorite original score. The late Harvey Evans' epitaph. Original cast member Kurt Peterson ending the concert with "hey up there, way up there, what'd'ya say up there..." All of it underscored by Sondheim's brilliant work. I am in tears all over again.

ive written dan/renee before actually!!! it was for a writing game and its in the same verse as my burlesque au :) its a very old piece so please be mindful of that, but here u go:

2 — A small, fleeting kiss — which is immediately followed by a passionate, hungry kiss.

Burlesque is a pompous, smoke-filled, luxurious industry —  one that Renee has been part of for too long. 

From the years of shiny costumes and coy music, Renee had compiled a lifetime of purple bruises on her thighs and knees, a small fortune made up of tips, and one too many fleeting crushes on the just as fleeting dancers Renee had the pleasure of working with. It is certainly ironic, in a way, that though Renee's job is by the most part making the men fall in love with her —  an easy task, really —, it is the women that she trails after at the end of the day.  

It is just as ironic that, with Kevin and Matt as exceptions, it is women that Renee works with. Burlesque performers are in their majority female, which might be the most pleasant part of the job once money is not on the table: Renee had lost count of how many hours she'd spent watching her fellow coworkers prim themselves for a performance, everything from Katelyn's discreet lip gloss to Allison's over-the-top rhinestone craze, each more beautiful than the other as they align themselves in the dressing rooms. 

Renee Walker loves women. It was not news to anyone —  certainly not news for some of her coworkers, whose warm hands Renee had felt on her for more than just rehearsal —, and it could never be contested, however blind the men who come to the Foxhole may be. 

So it made sense, of course, that the moment Danielle Wilds walked into that dressing room was the moment Renee's train of rational thought came to an abrupt stop. The rest, as one might know, is history.

A Friday night has the Foxhole dripping from head to toe in visitors, the anticipation of the audience rumbling through their small dressing room as the first performers of the night finessed the last details of their performances near the exit, coached by a rather unamused Nicky. From the other corner of the room, Neil —  newest addition to their line-up, nearing his debut stage but just inexperienced enough to be Kevin's prodigee —  is being thoroughly handled by the aforementioned, who was just as impatient at styling their fellow performers as he was meticulous at it.

Renee couldn't see what Neil looked like over Kevin's wide shoulders, but she doubted there was anything to worry about: Burlesque is not all talent, and as long as Neil is able to sell himself to the audience, he'll be finer than most.

Allison had just left the seat near Renee unoccupied to practice her routine for one last time before going up on stage when Dan slipped into it, her dark skin shimmering with glitter under the artificial lights as she leant her elbows against their shared vanity, bright pink wig falling over her shoulders in waves.

They had a shared number, today —  Renee's wig, though a pastel blue in contrast with Dan's bright pink, reached under her chin in a graceful bob cut, matching with the naturally short nature of her dress, as sparkly blue as her makeup. In front of the mirror, they looked like a matching set; someone's wildest dreams come true. 

Dan's red lips open in a smirk, all white teeth, and Renee hates every inch of her, from the dangerously short hem of her skirt to the thigh highs that draped all over the dark skin of her legs, an image Renee couldn't forget even if Dan allowed her to. 

"Already got your good luck kiss from Reynolds?" Dan hums, brushing through her wig with carefully manicured fingers, her tanned hands part of Renee's most common daydreams. 

Renee hums back, running a hand through her wig's blue fringe. "Jealous?" she asks, the glossiness of her lips only as heavy as the glossiness of her eyelids. "A woman like you has no need for jealousy."

"Not jealousy," Dan disagrees, turning to consider Renee in her entirety. Dan's eyes are so dark they're almost black, molded by eyelashes so long and thick Renee felt the urge to reach out and touch —  it was the kind of stare no one could turn away from. Her tinted lips moved slowly as she said, "I have no one to be jealous of."

"Oh?" Renee replies, averting her eyes from the way Dan's skirt riled up ever so slightly as her legs crossed. "And why is that?"

Dan motions dismissively, the nonchalant depiction of arrogance. "Our girls are pretty, but they're not me," she clarifies, "and you don't do boys."

In spite of herself, Renee's lips tug into a smile. "No, I do not," she answers, leaning back on her chair. "If Allison heard you saying that…" Renee smacks her lip gloss-filled lips together, trailing her sentence into the ground.

"Allison can have anyone else she wants," Dan hums, in that ruthless way of hers Renee can only hope to keep for as long as Dan lets her have it, "as long as it's not you."

Renee leans closer —  just to see what she would do, really; how far Dan was willing to show just how much no one else could have Renee —, and Dan's fingers close around her chin immediately, manicured long nails brushing against the soft skin of Renee's cheeks. "See?" Dan asks, almost in a purr. "I don't have to prove a point. You're about to break your neck for just a kiss."

She hums in agreement, hands coming to rest against Dan's exposed knees, the warm skin singing under her palms. "One kiss, Wilds," Renee drags out as Dan leans in, "and just one. You wouldn't want to ruin your makeup."

"Not mine," Dan agrees. "Yours, I would."

"And survive Kevin's scolding?" Renee brushes her nose against Dan's, feeling the fingers on her chin tighten. "Aren't you eager?"

"Aren't you?"

Renee presses a kiss to Dan's inner wrist, letting her mouth drag through Dan's pulse. "Self-restraint is a virtue."

Dan makes a sound of agreement. There is a lipstick mark on the inside of her wrist, courtesy of Renee's dark makeup, but she doesn't bother to wash it off as she tips Renee's chin back for a quick, short peck. 

She's about to pull away when Renee's hand closes around her wrist, keeping her close. Dan's red lips close around a smug smirk, and Renee barely cares that they're in the dressing room. "Where's your virtue now?" she prompts, infuriatingly arrogant. "I don't see it."

Renee tugs her close, and Dan follows. 

Their mouths brush, lipstick against lipstick, and Renee snarls, "Shut up," before pulling Dan into a heavier, deeper, longer kiss, her hands coming to rest against Dan's neck to keep her close, thumb dragging up and down her jugular.

Slowly, Roy shuffles into the kitchen space to open the fridge and close it again, then to the pantry closet to open and stare at the bare shelves before closing it again. Unwillingly, he gravitates back to the couch and into Jamie’s orbit once more.

“What is this?” He asks, leaning against the arm of the loveseat and squinting at the flatscreen.

Jamie shrugs.

“Some eighties movie they got playing. “S’Halloween,” Jamie says impatiently, handing the crisps off to Roy. “See, that lot is all skeletons.” He turns his face away from the television, wagging his eyebrows conspiratorily at Roy. “I’m definitely Daniel, fast-talking and quick on my feet, like.”

Roy surprises himself by laughing, and Jamie’s expression rearranges to offended.

“Sure,” Roy says, shaking his head. “You’re definitely Daniel. No, really,” he continues when Jamie keeps watching him suspiciously. “A motor-mouthed little prick, that does match.” But in truth, Roy can see both, can’t stop seeing both boys in Jamie as the film continues.

Sometime after Mr. Miyagi gives Daniel the car, Roy falls asleep.

He dreams of the career-ending match against Man City, only they’ve won instead of lost. Armand and Daniel had an entire war over deodorant for a while. Armand doesn't get it, it smells synthetic and chemical and weird no matter how many brands Daniel brings home to try. The spray on kind? Disgusting, he hates the butane propellant in it. Old Spice? There's nothing 'spice-like' in this Daniel, the name makes no sense. The roll on kind with aluminum in it? Why would you wear something that stains your white shirts yellow when sweat alone does no such thing?

Armand puts it in the garbage. Daniel takes it back out. Armand puts it back in the garbage again. They bicker about social norms and what it means to smell 'human'. Compromise comes in the form of Daniel saying fine, he'll skip using it but only on the nights they stay home because he's not being the one sweaty guy at the opera. Armand says fine so long as he gets to pick the scent on nights they go out. Daniel counts this as one of this three major wins against Armand, because everything else? Fuck it, it's not worth fighting over, let him have his way.

Smith: Best friends with Daniels and pretty close with Porter as well. Smith's a very pale and lanky Russian man, is the friend of the group who's the butt of most of the jokes but actively finds it funny; he's very aware of his weaknesses as well as his strengths. He spends as little time outside as possible and mostly just codes, watches TV/Youtube, and plays video games. He's very upbeat, easy to laugh at others and himself, and has very "shut-in kinda loser" vibes. He's very sweet and can be quite bumbling sometimes as well. He's aware his girlfriend is significantly hotter than he is. He has one tattoo that just says "shrimp is bugs" with a doodle of a shrimp under it on the back of his left leg.

Lovely: Smith's significantly hotter girlfriend. She does squats holding members of the Den when they go out drinking. She's extremely straightforward and honest, also takes a joke like a champ, and can be overly brusque. She's Guyanese, Taiwanese, and Samoan, and sports a lot of tattoos. Pilot: The most private and reserved of the Den by a large amount. She doesn't often join in their after-work hangouts, and doesn't add much to pre-meeting conversations. She's the oldest of the group but the group doesn't know that because she just likes to ask "What do you think?" in response to any probing about her age/ethnicity/sexuality/hobbies/etc. Pilot letting out a snort is the equivalent of Smith's full-body laughs, although she makes some very witty jokes herself. She also has a slight emotional sadism streak -- she doesn't really do anything to people, but when anyone is distressed or upset she looks amused, including her friends. She also has a fair amount of tattoos; half in black ink & half in white. Lots of snakes, spiders, and bugs. She's a chronic hater and enjoys making fun of stuff.

David: This is a lie, you won't run into David. The Den barely runs into David. He's so, so normal it's disconcerting. The wildest thing he does is go to a club that's both a knitting club and a book club. He has a husband who's as painfully normal and average as he is. He's the cleaner of the group and removes all traces of bodies and evidence perfectly, none of anything he takes care of has ever shown up. Everyone but Pilot is a little scared of him because of the juxtaposition between Average Joe So Boring And Plain vs. Your Body Will Never Be Found.

Okay, so you shouldn't have been on your phone in the middle of a big corporate meeting, that was on you.

But man, it was boring. You just didn't care anymore, it was as simple as that. You'd only ever taken the job to get you by through a rough patch and then as the way life often goes in the corporate world you ended up stuck there because it was easy. A simple 9-5, low effort, sat at your desk faffing with spreadsheets and numbers. Easy, no thoughts.

But since you'd met Daniel your world had been turned upside down. Picking strangers up in a bar is never a good idea, you knew that much, but when an extremely handsome Australian is flirting with you like there's no tomorrow you don't have to say no. Even if he's telling you he's a racecar driver, which is obviously bullshit. So you took him home, and he proved to you within ten minutes that it was completely the right decision.

And then he invited you to a race and you rolled your eyes and told him you didn't mind what job he did. And then he told you it wasn't a lie so you said okay fine, expecting to be taken to an underground drag race or something. And then you were sat in the back of a very, very nice car and you were being driven out of the city and you were being led through masses of stands. And then you realised you were watching Formula One cars, and the Australian named Danny was in fact a driver, and a bloody good one too.

You'd barely blinked and it had been six months. The best of your life, with Daniel desperate to spoil you and show you the glamour he had been blessed with. You loved it, of course, you did. Fancy dinners, destinations beyond your wildest dreams, private jets. But you'd run out of paid time off and you had to miss the rest of his races for the season, right as it was ramping up to the summer.

Daniel had offered so many times to take care of you. He promised you that if you quit your job you'd never have to want for anything again. He'd pay for everything, he could afford to, he wanted to. But you couldn't, it was too early and too fragile in the relationship to give up everything for him. What was different about Danny was that he understood you, and he respected your decisions. He supported you in wanting to work your way up yourself, that you didn't want to give over all of your independence. He liked that you liked him for so much more than his money.

Your phone buzzing in your hand brought you back from your recent daydream about the last race weekend you'd been to, and the impromptu weekend in Dubai he'd whisked you off to afterwards because he felt like it. However this week, it was Daniel's turn to exist in your life. He was visiting you for a few days in his week off, but you hadn't been able to get the time off work, so he was left to entertain himself in your house for the day.

He knew you were in a meeting, but he wouldn't stop texting you. And because you were completely and utterly addicted to him, there was no way you were ignoring a text from him.

It flashed open before you could stop it. At first you didn't register the brown blur across your screen, as you flinched from the sudden colour amongst the simple messages you'd been sending back and forth. Your mouth went dry when you realised what it was.

It was Daniel, alright. Standing in your bathroom, with a white towel wrapped far too low around his hips. His phone held up, that signature grin on his face when he knew he was causing trouble, which was a lot of the time with Danny. He was wet, skin shining in the mirror. Every muscle was outlined down his strong shoulders, defined six-pack and your personal favourite, the obnoxiously perfect V-line. Your stomach clenched and you nearly choked on the water you'd just taken a sip of.

You had to click the phone screen off as you began to splutter, one of your colleagues thumping you on the back and asking if you were okay. You managed to choke out a yes, and convince them that they could go back to their segment for the marketing department. If your face hadn't been bright red before, it most certainly was now.

Your next mistake was looking back down at your phone.

You were your own worst enemy sometimes, but there was nothing that was going to stop you from seeing what he'd sent now. This time you were smart enough to not drink whilst you discreetly opened it, and you were glad you didn't because the sight alone would have been enough to put you in a hospital.

You'd been expecting another selfie, maybe one of his stupid smoulders he liked to play with, or a filter to ruin the mood. But no.

The towel was gone, and Daniel was on your phone in his full naked glory. Tattoos out, messy hair, the whole shebang. The hand not taking the photo was wrapped around his erection, his head tilted back to show you his neck that you so loved to bite.

You were glad that you didn't have to add much to the rest of the meeting, and you must have looked out of it because by the time you got to lunch a simple "I think I ate something bad last night," was enough to get you sent home.

Your hands were trembling as you unlocked your door, with no idea what to expect behind it. Danny hadn't sent anything else, and you'd been too stunned to reply to his last image. The house was silent, which wasn't too surprising, you'd expected him to be hanging out in your room.

You were right, although you couldn't deny that you were a little disappointed when you saw he'd changed into grey sweatpants and a bright yellow hoodie. He was crashed out, laid starfish on your bed. You decided to give him a taste of his own medicine.

"Daniel!" he bolted upright, eyes widened in confusion and fear "You sent me pictures of you NAKED whilst I was in a WORK MEETING!" His brain seemed to catch up because a wicked grin slowly made its way across his face, not an ounce of remorse to be seen.

"Sorry," the fucker even had the audacity to blow you an air kiss.

"You don't need to worry about me quitting my job, if you keep pulling stunts like that I'm going to lose it," you scolded him, but your tone was already lightening. His hair was messy on the top of his head and the photo was still burnt into the back of your mind. You'd stared at it for twenty minutes in the ladies' toilets straight after the meeting.

"You loved it though," he reached up to pull the hoodie off as if to prove his point, giving you an in-person viewing of what he'd shown you hours before. You rolled your eyes, hands on your hips as if you could keep up the hard-to-get act for much longer.

Kaylee Bryant On "Legacies," The Importance Of Queer Rep On TV, Hosie, And More

"I have so many people constantly telling me that watching Josie on the show has made them feel more comfortable in themselves."

This week, Kaylee Bryant squeezed us into her schedule to talk about their role as Josie Saltzman on Legacies. As a huge Josie fan, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a morning than talking to Kaylee about The Vampire Diaries, Hosie, our favorite books, and more! Here's everything we talked about:

1. What was your audition for Legacies like?

My audition process was very interesting because they kept a lot of it a secret. I had no script and a fake character name. And then I had my second audition, a chemistry read, which Jenny Boyd [Lizzie] wasn't even at. I walked in and immediately just flat-out asked, "This is for the twins, right?" So it was long, but short and intense at the same time.

BuzzFeed: Wait, did you know which twin you were going to be playing?

I initially auditioned for Josie, and then during chemistry reads, they started asking me to read for Lizzie. And then we had our final callback where I finally met Jenny and we both read for both roles. They never told us [who was playing who] until Jenny had her appointment to go dye her hair blonde.

2. What's a typical day on set like?

Gosh, it changes every time. If it's a busy day on set, we're talking like 8 a.m. call time where we spend about two hours on hair and makeup and go straight into rehearsals. If it's a big sort of episode that involves stunt work and wire work, you're talking about doing maybe two scenes in a day. But if it's an average day, we can do anywhere from three to five scenes and we can start at 8 a.m. and wrap at 8 p.m. It really depends. I'm surprised if I'm not surprised.

3. You’ve said you’re a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries. Josie played Elena in the musical episode — what was that like?

It was surreal for sure. They had talked a little bit about doing a musical episode since Season 1. And I always thought that they were joking when they talked about doing Salvatore: The Musical!, so when they said Josie would obviously play Elena, I was like, "Hahaha." And then I got the script and realized I actually was playing Elena. The musical aspect of it was the easy part. The difficult part was, I think, getting into the iconic Elena attire and trying to feel normal. Because we have a lot of crew members that worked on The Vampire Diaries, and they kept coming up to me being like, "This is weird. I feel weird."

4. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve filmed with Courtney Bandeko (Finch) this season?

I really did love the scene that we had in the town square [when] we got on a moped. There were so many fans in the town square that were huddled in the rain — it was pouring rain, freezing cold — trying to snap photos of us. And it was kind of one of those surreal moments where it felt full circle, that I was on a Vampire Diaries spinoff in town square. It was a lot going on, but it was a lot of fun. It's always fun working with Courtney.

5. You and Danielle Rose Russell (Hope) also have amazing chemistry — what’s your favorite scene you’ve filmed together?

Oh gosh, we have a lot that are pretty amazing. Honestly, I'd say [Season 3] Episode 14 — we finally got to do a lot more scenes together. And it's always fun, especially when it's Josie, Lizzie, and Hope, because we have so much history character-wise. Any time you really get to dive into that, we love it.

6. I know Josie and Finch are working through some things right now, but I gotta ask — how do you feel about Hosie?

I love it. Danielle and I loved the idea of Hosie starting from Season 1, and we kept asking and asking and asking for it. So it's kind of funny and full circle that now the fans have kind of taken our side with things, and now they won't stop asking for it. All we want is this beautiful, dynamic relationship. And I think that the fans want that as well.

BuzzFeed: Yeah, I mean, people have even been asking me about Hosie, and I don't work on the show!

Oh, I'm sure! [Laughs] Obviously I love it, though.

7. Is there a particular Josie moment you’re really proud of?

Josie has a scene coming up in Episode 18 — or 19? — I don't know, but it's good. It's sort of the pinnacle of everything that Josie has felt over the past three years kind of culminating into one moment. So, I'm excited for people to see it.

8. You recently came out as queer. How has playing Josie, who’s pansexual, impacted you personally?

I felt a lot of pressure when I initially booked Josie because I was still figuring out who I was and what my label was. And playing a character who was so comfortable in who she was, it was inspiring [to me] in a way that I think a lot of other people watching the show have been inspired. I have so many people constantly telling me that watching Josie on the show has made them feel more comfortable in themselves. It's kind of amazing that we all have the same experience in that having queer representation makes you more comfortable.

9. You’ve been vocal about your Asian identity, and your character has spoken Japanese on the show. Did you have a hand in incorporating that into Josie’s character?

No, not at all! So, I spoke Japanese a few times on the [Instagram] Live and one of our writers, Penny Cox, saw me speaking Japanese and immediately went to Brett [Matthews] and was like, "We need to make this happen somehow." And then all of a sudden, I had a script in my hands. So it was a surprise, but a fun one.

BuzzFeed: Are you fluent in Japanese?

Gosh, no! I'm barely fluent in English. [Laughs] I would say I speak at the level of maybe a second-grader on a good day, though.

10. If you could pitch any storyline for Josie, what would it be?

I always joke that I want an episode that takes place overnight. That way, we all have to be wearing pajamas the entire episode. I just want to wear some comfy clothes for a whole two weeks, that's my main goal. So we can have a pajama episode, that's my pitch.

11. What's it like getting into character for Dark Josie scenes?

It's different in the sense that I know Josie so well. And knowing Josie in turn makes me understand Dark Josie. I have a whole different playlist of music that I listen to for Dark Josie — and I have the wig, which helps a lot with getting into character.

BuzzFeed: Well, now I have to ask what music is on that playlist!

I think "Bury a Friend" by Billie Eilish is a great one for Dark Josie. Also, "Villain" by K/DA is a prime example of a perfect song for Dark Josie, so I listen to that one as well.

12. What's your go-to Starbucks order?

Plain black iced Americano. Aria [Shahghasemi, who plays Landon] says I drink coffee like a sociopath. [Laughs]

13. What TV show are you currently binging?

I just finished watching Alice in Borderland, which is a Japanese show on Netflix. And I know Feel Good Season 2 just came out, so I think that's my next binge.

14. Damon or Stefan?

Stefan! They're both beautiful and I love them very much, but I'm Team Stefan when it comes to Elena.

15. If you could work with anyone from The Vampire Diaries, who would it be?

Ian Somerhalder has a lot of dogs. So, maybe I want to work with him for the sole reason of just talking about dogs. [Writer's note: Kaylee revealed she has two rescue dogs, one whom was sleeping right next to them during the interview! Kaylee described the dogs as "both complete and total nuts," but said she misses them about five minutes after getting into the car to go to work.]

16. Do you think you’re most similar to Josie, Lizzie, or Hope in real life?

I would say I'm an eclectic mix of the three. I can be very headstrong like Hope, very outspoken like Lizzie, and I try to be as loving as Josie, but sometimes that doesn't always work. But I'd like to think all three.

17. Is there a role people would be surprised to learn you auditioned for, but didn't get?

I've been auditioning since I was eight, so there's quite a few Disney Channel shows and movies. And I'm sure people would be surprised because I think I auditioned for like, all of them. It's very funny, one of the first jobs I ever booked in television was Kickin' It with Leo Howard [Ethan]. Talk about full circle — going from being 12 years old and having no idea what I'm doing to being a series regular on [Legacies] and welcoming Leo to the set.

18. Who's your favorite Disney princess?

Oh, I love Mulan so much. She was, like, my first crush ever. I also love Moana, but it's Mulan 1,000%.

19. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I mean, I do eat rice every day. So maybe just white rice — you can make rice into candy and...yeah, let's go with rice.

20. If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one book, what would it be?

Oh no! I recently read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, and I really enjoyed that book. Oh god, Is that the one that I want to bring, though? I mean, I really enjoyed it and it has many different aspects to it. I don't know. Or should I go with Harry Potter? I go through different genres too, like right now I'm in a big sci-fi phase, but other times I'll go the opposite direction and only read biographies. Yeah, that's super hard. I don't think I would know!

21. On that note, what's your Hogwarts house?

Initially, when I was younger, it used to just be straight-up Slytherin. And now, I recently took the Sorting Hat Quiz and I got Ravenclaw. So I'm going to go with Slytherclaw.

BuzzFeed: What's Josie's house?

Josie would be Slytherin. She tries very hard and, you know, not everyone in Slytherin is evil. She just, you know, has her way of going about things.

22. Has anything super funny or embarrassing happened to you on set?

I trip a lot on set. I get scared very easily — if I come around the corner and somebody is walking the other direction, I get scared. Everybody knows to walk slowly around me because I get scared so easily.

23. What's your wildest fan story?

I've had people cry before. And I'm an empath, so if somebody starts crying, I immediately am like, "Please don't cry, because I'm gonna cry." And then it turns into this whole thing. Once we were shooting in the town square and this young girl with her mom started crying, and I just hugged her and I didn't know what to say. So there's a lot of that. There's also the occasional, "Where's your twin?" and...I don't have one, sorry! But yeah, I would say the people who cry always throw me for a loop.

24. How do you unwind after a long day?

I have an hourlong drive home from work, so I usually listen to a lot of music. And by the time I get home, taking off all of my makeup is very therapeutic. Because over time, we're working 13-hour days, 16-hour days, and it's just powder constantly building up on my face. So, washing my face is always very therapeutic. And then just laying back and reading a book and petting my dog is the best.

25. Is there a celebrity you get told you look like a lot?

Most recently, Sara Waisglass [from Ginny & Georgia and Degrassi]. We follow each other on social media now and I completely messed up because I don't know how Twitter works at all. I forgot that there's a DMing interaction, so we followed each other and I was like, "Oh, that's nice." And then just recently, I saw that she had messaged me being like, "We're twins! We should be friends!" And I immediately messaged back, "I'm so sorry, let's be friends!"

26. Who's your biggest celebrity crush?

Oh, I have so many. But consistently since I saw Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany. Hands down.

27. Finally, have you ever caught someone watching a TV show or movie that you're in on a flight or anywhere else?

We were all, as a cast, flying to — was it New York Comic Con, or San Diego Comic Con? — one of the Comic Cons. And we were all sitting there and we saw that Legacies was actually on the airplane as an option. And we were all just uncomfortably staring at each other. Yeah, that was surreal.
