Grazie agli amici di @sommelier_wine_box ho avuto il piacere di assaggiare un vino poco noto poiché prodotto da un piccolo produttore del Lazio, Marco Antonelli: Kosmos riserva 2015 (uve Cesanese 100%). L’azienda, in quel di Olevano Romano alle porte di Roma, ha solo 3 ettari. Non ha un sito internet ma solo una pagina Facebook. Pochi fronzoli, molta dedizione e concretezza. Una artigianalità che nel vino si vede, si respira, si sente. Con potenza e piacevolezza. Già nel bicchiere con un colore granato intenso, vivo. Uno sprigionarsi di odori che sanno di ciliegia marasca quasi sotto spirito, prugna matura, arancia sanguinella, mora. Si apre un bouquet di fiori come viola e rosa canina per poi passare al tabacco dolce, alla noce moscata, alla vaniglia. Noti dolci per un vino che in bocca poi esprime la sua freschezza nonostante l’età. Caldo, sapido, secco. Bella la persistenza ma soprattutto i tannini che sono al limite dell’eleganza poiché si integrano perfettamente donando all’equilibrio un valore incredibile. Stupenda infine la chiusura bocca e la pulizia che offre. Kosmos è un vino che è una spanna sopra molti altri. Un vino che si integra bene con la carne specialmente alla brace ma, vi assicuro, può essere sorseggiato senza che stanchi.           a delightful smile graced the lips of the young girl as she ran down the stairs, almost tripping in the process.  such an exciting day, and yet, sophie still had to share it with someone.  short legs carrying her to the tall woman waiting for her,  the blonde opened her arms to greet her in an euphoric hug.    “  MAMA !!  ”    giggling, sophie jumped up and down just a little bit impatient as she couldn’t wait to tell.    “  we had so much FUN today!  we were supposed to show the class something we like and we could draw something or make something or just write about it.  do you want to see what i did?  ”    her ENTHUSIASM made it obvious she would show it to her no matter what she said.  the little girl was too proud of her work to not show it to the older woman.

              the dynamos, her friends, her soulmates, the true love of her life. she hadn’t spoken to them in months, hadn’t dared to. his threats had been enough to make her squirm back from those thoughts. all she wanted was to make sure her girls were safe, that they would be happy and if they knew what was going on, they’d go into panic. so she had stayed away from calling them, hadn’t even answered any letters. it was all she could do in this situation, to protect them from the harsh reality that was her life these days.

              still, she had given in, just this once. replying to the call, speaking with both rosie and donna and she had never felt so full of love until he had gotten home and realized exactly who she was speaking with. whatever had she done to deserve this? if there was someone up there punishing her for something couldn’t they just end her already, this was enough, her pain couldn’t grow anymore. she had stopped feeling when he was home so she’d protect herself from everything he said and did. it had worked, this far at least.

             “ i’m sorry ” voice weak while she placed the phone on the table, blue eyes shining with worry while she took a shaky breath, why couldn’t she just listen? why did she have to go against everything he said, when would she ever learn? “ i promise, it won’t happen again, i swear. ”

           anger pulsed through his veins as he looked at her.   he could tell the moment he walked in who she was talking to   -   could hear it in her voice.   and after he’d TOLD her over and over again she was done with those girls.   why was it so hard ?  why did she insist on breaking the rules ?   when was she going to learn to behave like a wife ? 

              “  you’re damn right it won’t.  ”   he replied,   his voice almost a growl as he picked up the phone and threw it against the wall so hard he could hear it shatter as he wrapped his hand around her neck.   did she think he liked punishing her ?   or was that she got some kind of sick satisfaction out of rilling him up ? 

             his grip was firm but he wasn’t squeezing,  not yet.  “  i’ve told before those girls aren’t our kind of people  -   they’re not worth your time.  ”   daniel whispered,   his hand slowly starting to close.   “   say it.  tell me you understand   -   because if i find you talking to them again,   i just...   i don’t know what i’ll do.  ”   there was a menacing quality to his voice mixed with what sounded like genuine concern for her.

     it was past eleven and sophie found herself unable to sleep. the little girl had been supposed to sleep for a whiel now, but her thoughts simply kept her awake.  two days. two more days before she would go to school and the young blonde was scared. her mother had told her it would be fine and that the other children would love her but there was still a little doubt within her. 

giving up trying to find sleep, sophie hopped off her bed, quietly walking towards her door. she could still see the light in the living room, guessing her mother was still awake, maybe working. quietly, almost a little ashamed, the girl walked closer, entering the living room without much noise. but no doubt, if she wasn’t completely focussed on her work, she could have noticed her anyway.    ❝  mommy.  ❞    she quietly called out for her, walking closer. hands playing with the hem of her nightgown, the blonde avoided looking up at the other, worrying she would be angry about her still being awake.    ❝  mommy, i can’t sleep.  ❞
