Word of warning for international folks since BeadzByDre is based in Canada: I ordered my #bracelets on March 16th intending for them to be a birthday present for myself (my birthday is April 1st) and Nik’s bracelets timed for Worlds which he received w/o incident. Unfortunately, the first shipment got lost so I didn’t get the replacement bracelets until 2 months later and only after Dreylin contacted FedEx. I guess better late than never - I still mourn the loss of the Team Kevin Koe toque I won on FB last year that you can’t buy anywhere that I never received, presumably due to C19 related international shipping issues (I won something in the Sandra Schmirler Foundation auction after the Brier/Scotties that was a full month delayed and only after the foundation opened an inquiry w/ the shipping company). . . Olympic gold medalist Matt Hamilton not only knows about BeadzByDre but was also seen wearing one of the bracelets during CNIA. I actually had a funny moment w/ the legendary Sue Cassidy in the bathroom in Irvine of all places. We were washing our hands and she asked if I knew about the bracelets so I showed her my wrist. Let me introduce you to #Johan the #curling #goat This is the second #crochet goat I’ve made (I gifted the first one to swimming GOAT Katie Ledecky). No surprise here, Johan was inspired by 🐐 @niklasedin 😉 He has a curling stone, Thor’s hammer, and a small black hat - an homage of sorts to the Hardine hat Nik’s been wearing during #WMCC2021 I tried and failed 3x making the hat, it’s still too small for Johan’s head but it’s the best I can do for now. I also don’t have black duct tape (yet). If I get some black duct tape I can turn my own hat and Johan’s hat into #NikEdinsHat . . Confession: I’ve been getting quite irritated whenever commentators refer to Nik as 2x and reigning World Champion because I know he’s a 4x World Champion who’s going for his record breaking 5th title and 3 in a row. I know I’m biased as @teamniklasedin ‘s biggest fan, but several commentators keep saying it, and I’ve read through the media guide, there’s at least 2 places where it clearly says Nik is a 4x World Champion, why are commentators repeatedly taking away 2 of the World titles he rightfully earned? I can’t help but wonder if people are actually rooting against him to break the records he’s trying to break this year because then that would really solidify his status as a legendary GOAT and create a resume unlikely to ever be broken. I mean, I’ve spent enough time in the FB groups & YT chat to know that there are people who root for certain teams at certain draws just for the simple fact that they want every single team to carry at least one loss this event. As some of you may know, I’ve commissioned a series of #curlingfanart for members of @teamniklasedin over the past few months starting w/ 🐐 @niklasedin ‘s #birthday With how things have gone the past year due to C19 & given the fact that #WMCC2021 starts the day after my birthday, I decided to commission art for myself because we all know nobody’s commissioning art for me) combining two of my current passions - #curling and the Ray__C community on Twitch & Discord. My birthday is in 2 days & #WMCC2021 gets underway in 3 days! 🎉💃🏻 The athletes have taken the ice for their first practice sessions already & pretty soon #curling fans all over the world will be glued to their TVs and/or computer screens to catch all the action. I of course have been reading through the media guide as part of my Worlds prep🧢 on several of the bios that say single but I’ll chalk it up to C19 times leading to some editing misses... . . I acknowledge my bias because we all know how much I love 🐐 @nikladedin & @teamniklasedin so it’s no surprise I’m rooting for @svenskcurling to win gold in men’s & all the disciplines. What’s neat about the media guide is that the Records & Stats section shows plain as day the greatness of Nik Edin. The people who put the media guide together purposely put 🐐 as the photo to kick off the section. When Nik wins his 5th Worlds gold on 4/11, he’ll solidify his place in the record books as the only curler in the field w/ 5 golds. Currently he’s in a tie w/ Randy Ferby, Glenn Howard, and the Richardsons (Ernie, Arnold & Garnet) - w/ 4 World titles each (& only non-Canadian in the group). I’m certainly pulling for Nik to achieve this historic feat and cement his legendary status. . . Bummed Thomas Ulsrud won’t be competing at Worlds this year. He holds the record for most wins at Worlds at 88 games total. Andy Kapp of Germany has 72 wins, & in 3rd w/ 71 wins is 🐐 Nik. When Team Edin win all 13 of their RR games, the SF, & the final, this will bring Nik’s total to 86 games won, just 2 shy of tying Ulsrud’s record. I guess 🐐 can always break Thomas’ record en route to winning WMCC2022 gold. According to @worldcurling #WMCC2021 marks 🐐 @niklasedin ‘s 10th appearance at Worlds. Should he be successful in leading @teamniklasedin to another gold, that’ll make for a historic 5th title. Wishing @svenskcurling safe travels as they head into the Calgary Curling Bubble, especially since someone just tested positive at figure skating worlds in Stockholm. . . My fan cutout has been in the bubble since the Scotties and I love my seat (3rd row in the center), but since Worlds starts the day after my birthday, I’m hoping I get a seat upgrade for when Sweden gets the featured games since I’m wearing the Edin jersey and holding the NSYNC dancing goat in my hand. . . While my #Icevengers were in training camp prepping for Worlds, I’ve been doing my own prep of sorts: checking the WCF website, creating schedules, ordering stuff online, using my birthday PTO on 4/2 so I can have my own little WMCC2021 kickoff celebration, etc. Bummed that I never got to sport last year’s uniforms & I can’t get this year’s uniforms since they’re not made by Dynasty Curling this time (I think they’re made by Craft in Sweden & not being sold to fangirls/collectors like me) so I made the draw schedule w/ the special heritage jersey and matching mask from last year. I will never get tired of seeing 🐐 @niklasedin and the members of @teamniklasedin on top of the podium. Given the success of the Scotties in the Calgary Curling Bubble, things are going full steam ahead for the Brier. Men’s Worlds & 2 Grand Slams are expected to happen in April. Worlds actually start after my birthday (4/1, seriously, no joke). I’m still skeptical the events in April will happen as planned because C19 is still around and raging, but if it does happen and Canada allows athletes from all over the world in, then best believe I’ll be cheering for my #Icevengers as always.
