Supersons +1 prompt answer Parte Dos
Parte Uno
Original Prompt
Jon couldn't help but take a peek at the large metal ring constructed behind the massive form of Dr Fenton, its size and shape dwarfing man and son. He couldn't watch for much longer, however, as their encounter with Daniel was expedited by Damian's impatience. Maybe he was just itching for a fight, or a supervillain to beat down. Either way, as Superboy, it was his job to make sure Daniel walked out with all his limbs intact!
"Daniel Fenton." But Damian was interrupted just as fast as he had started.
"Ew, no, it's Danny thank you very much. Only my parents when they're angry, and- bleh- Vlad, call me Daniel."
Damian scowled (he was doing that a lot today). "Daniel Fenton, we have some questions for you."
"Guess that's not gonna happen."
Time to intervene. Jon stepped between Damian and Danny, arms outstretched, with a friendly but diplomatic smile. "What Damian here means is we're suuuuper curious about your dad's research, aren't you Damian?"
"...Yes."
"If you wanna know more about my Dad's research, why don't you uhh." Danny bobbed his head at Mr Fenton's direction, the man in the midst of grabbing onto an unfortunate bystander and extolling the virtues of his next invention.
"Your father has proven lacking in his ability to explain his own work, which is why the responsibility now falls on to you, Daniel Fenton, if that's even your real name."
Wow, laying it on real thick, aren't you Damian.
Danny very pointedly ignores the death stare (hehe, death stare) from Dami to look to Jon. "And you are...?"
"Jon, I'm here with my dad too! He's a reporter, but some of this stuff's got me bored out of my mind. I mean, a flying toilet? Really??"
This manages to get a chuckle out of Danny. "You saw that too? And here I thought I'd get to see some normal inventions around here."
"I know right! I feel subconscious even with bathroom stalls and stuff. What are you gonna do, bring a flying curtain?"
"Honestly I know some folks back home who could find it handy." Danny said, a mysterious smirk on his lip. What could be so mysterious about a bunch of streakers back home? Or...
"Would you like to elaborate on that statement, Fenton?" Damian cut in. "Or the function of the garish-looking gateway erected by your Father?"
"Oh that? That's the Fenton PortaPortal."
"Porta what?" Jon asked.
"The Porta Portal. Portable Portal. It's like the one back home, 'cept it's light enough to move around."
"Portal to where exactly?"
Danny shrugs. "The Ghost Zone, where else?"
"You mean to say your parents have breached the afterlife using science?"
"Hah!" Danny laughs. "But it won't work, trust me." There was that knowing grin again.
"You seem pretty sure, Danny. Also wait, you have one of these back home?"
"Yeah, and it let in the raging hordes of the undead on my town. Overshadowing (that's possession btw), taking over the school with meat, box-based assault, replacing people like changelings, that one time a ghost tried to blow up my sister with a laser, that one time the Ghost King kidnapped the entire town and transported it to the Realms..." Danny listed out various dangerous situations like it was Tuesday, ignorant of the dawning horror upon his audience's faces. Jon himself was starting to feel a little green. Ghosts? Hundreds of ghosts? Each of them capable of possession, and according to Danny, much more?!
"How has the Justice League not heard of this kind of thing?" Jon tried, but failed to hide the slight shiver in his voice.
Danny shrugged. "Guess they dismissed our calls as pranks or something."
"Your father wishes to unleash the legions of undead upon Gotham?!" Damian stepped forward, getting up in Danny's face.
"Woah woah woah, chill out man. Mom and Dad actually learned from the last time and built like eight layers of shielding around the portal, not that it'll be necessary since it won't work anyway."
"And why are you so sure? Did you sabotage it? For whwat purpose would you tamper with your own parents' inventions?"
"Dami, maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions." Jon said, trying to pull Damian away without any obvious use of super strength.
"Yeah Dami, I'm just a kid, like you. You see an engineering degree anywhere that can be used to sAboTAgE anything? 'Cause I don't."
Damian glared at the other boy for just a second longer, before Jon was finally able to pry him off the poor kid. "I'm so sorry, Damian's just kinda intense sometimes, he really means well I-"
"It's fine. Besides, I'm bored as hell over here too. Since we're about sixty-nine million years below the average age of this place. what say we hang and laugh?" Danny got up and stretched his legs.
"Sure! Hey you seen the oven that's supposed to bake pizza in under ten seconds? Come on, Damian spotted this amazing design flaw, you just have to come with."
As Jon dragged them away, Damian muttered under his breath, deviously. "Good job, Kent, escorting Fenton to a secondary location for further questioning."
~~~~~ They spent the next hour roaming the convention centre, laughing and snorting their lungs out at the inventions, and the rich suckers lapping them up. Although Damian was initially as frosty as Superman's ice breath, Danny's mention of a glowing green ghost dog managed to gain his attention, if veiled behind suspicion and accusation. Looks like no squeezing was necessary, but the idea of a whole town of magical beings that possessed as easily as they breathed still made Jon nauseous.
"My parents actually get me keep him, without the threat of dissection, it's amazing!"
"Your parents dissect animals?" Damian spat out with all the hatred of a thousand dying suns.
"Ghosts, and they never have. Kept getting away. For some reason. Nowadays they're more into non-invasive study. and by non-invasive I mean totally invasive of things like privacy, and alone time." Danny grumbled.
"I feel you, man." Imagine having a dad with super hearing. Or growing up with the world's greatest stalkers.
"Privacy is an illusion." Damian being normal challenge IMPOSSIBLE
They had no more time to banter before Dr Fenton's booming voice echoed across the centre.
"AND NOW FOR THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR, THE SHOWCASE OF THE FENTON PORTAPORTAL AND THE LATEST IN FENTON SURVEILLANCE TECHNOLOGY, BEHOLD!"
"Just watch." Danny said.
Jack slammed his fist upon the on button, which was thankfully on the outside this time. The circular rings around the portal spun and spun, creating an electric whirring sound building up to a crescendo...
Only for the portal to fizzle out, as the crowd's jeers reached a fever pitch.
"Told you so."
Danny's triumph lasted not for another minute, however, when his body shivered and a cold mist broke through his lips. "Shit." He muttered. At least Jon and Damian were looking away. Danny's eyes scanned the crowd. Jack Fenton's sorrow was wiped away as the sensors in his suit came to life. He whipped out a comically large ecto-gun, shouting. "I KNEW IT! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK FROM GHOSTS!!!"
Danny needed look no longer as piercing laughter filled the auditorium. A swarm of green bats descended upon the centre, causing chaos and confusion. Those among the crowd sensible enough to run for the exits found themselves halted by bars locking them shut. Jack opened fire, but was overwhelmed by dozens of ghost bats.
Danny looked for anywhere he could silp away and transform. Damian and Jon did the same. None of them could an opportunity, as two pairs of hands swept them off their feet, and bindings tied them together. Their eyes widened as they gazed upon their captors. Two men adorned with white face paint. One in a gothic waistcoat, the other with green hair and a purple suit.
The infamous Joker, and the not as infamous Freakshow, both in hysterical laughter.
"I really gotta give it to you Danny-boy, that sabotage act you pulled really put us for a loop!" The Joker gasped out between laughs. He pulled out a remote with a large red button. "But I, the Joker, have out-sabotaged your sabotage! AHAHAHAH"
The Joker pressed the buttom, causing the portal to roar back to life.
"Damian!" Bruce Wayne yelled.
"Jon!" Clark Kent shouted.
"DANNY BOY!" Jack cried out, but they were too late to stop the swarm of bats carrying all three boys through the newly reactivated portal, and were too late to follow before the whole thing blew to pieces in a fiery halo.
To be continued....
So I saw your requests are open and what about clotted cream x reader (can be gn) who is a legendary of the sky?
Imagine clotted cream saw reader's floating chamber hovering over creme republic and thought it was a threat?
This is my first time requesting so I am bad at explaining like this (Can I be Shiba anon?)
YESS YESSSSS ive thought about this idea at least once anon you big brain ❤️❤️❤️❤️
notes ; clotted cream cookie x gn legendary! reader, fluff, woah this is kinda long, ooooooh legendary reader surprising and subtly flirting with clotted cream summary ; the consul has been leaving his office more often lately. who could he be meeting?
a/n: added a little story after the meeting heehee also i didn’t really use the floating chamber idea but i did keep the ‘clotted cream being suspicious of reader at first’ idea
Tumblr media
the creme republic was known to possess the most advanced technology in earthbread, even more advanced than any of the five heroes’ kingdoms. none of those silly stories of sugar gnomes, legendaries or deities; everything was ruled by technology and the beloved consul of the land.
so it wasn’t a surprise when clotted cream cookie, who grew up in the creme republic being taught that legendaries didn’t exist in the republic, was suspicious when he first saw you wandering around.
at first he thought it was just a trick of the light, or maybe even some citizen cosplaying a famed legendary like the fabled sea fairy cookie or moonlight cookie. but when he squinted his eyes, it was clear that it wasn’t just some costume you were wearing. the way your smooth hair rustled in the wind (that you created yourself, clotted cream was sure, because he couldn’t feel any wind on him now) was on a level of natural that no wig could ever mimic. gold sparkles adorned your skin and shined in the sunlight. long eyelashes framed half-lidded eyes as you gazed at the grassy ground, using little hand movements to play with the flowers below you. the dangling pieces of your outfit, like your hair, was flowing in the wind. your beauty was ethereal and out of this world, perhaps literally.
still, for clotted cream cookie, duty comes first. he sets his priorities straight as he walks up to you with a practiced smile, eyes not leaving your peaceful figure. he is almost shocked by the intensity in your glowing eyes as you turn around to face him, but he keeps his confident smile on and asks, “it’s an honour to have such a lovely looking deity here. the creme republic has never been able to welcome any legendaries from folktales, and yet here you are in broad daylight. may i have the name of the beautiful deity in front of me?"
“who’s asking?” you reply softly. your voice is as calm and powerful as your aura.
he continues smiling, “my name is clotted cream cookie, consul of the creme republic. i regret to say this, your majesty, but it is not often that we see such a stunning legendary cookie in the creme republic, and the public are wary of your presence.”
your lips perk up into a small smile. “i don’t see anyone around here but you. my eyesight must be failing me.”
“i wouldn’t dare suggest such a thing,” clotted cream laughs lightly, but his smile doesn’t meet his eyes. “as honourable as it is to be in your dazzling presence, might i suggest you relocate to another resting place, so as to not disturb the common folk here?”
“young consul, if you want me gone, then you must simply say so,” you return with an equally airy laugh. “i assure you that your people are not worth harming, young one. won’t you let a deity admire the greenery of the creme republic?”
by now, clotted cream knows that you are aware of his intentions towards you. and despite your reassurance that you will not harm the creme republic, he cannot help but continue to be wary towards you.
which is why he flinches when you slowly reach a finger out to caress his cheek. the coldness of your skin shocks him, literally bringing a chill down his spine. the chill was an unpleasant reminder of a higher, stronger power, as though the god of death had touched him themself. he could only hope that you weren’t actually said god.
“let’s make a deal,” you whisper while tracing your finger along his jawline. he tries his best to not lose his composure at your action. “allow this wandering deity to stay in your land for a week, and if i do harm a single citizen here, then you shall chase me away, and i shall not complain. will you agree, young consul?”
clotted cream cookie manages to muster a challenging smile. “and what do i get in return for your stay, your honour?”
“do you see the flowers blooming below me?” and he looks down to confirm. indeed, the flowers appear more pure and lively with you standing above them. “i promise i will help your land prosper.”
“then it is a deal, your almightyness,” he lifts your hand off his cheek gently and shakes it. his stomach does a flip at the sight of your alluring smile.
-
little does clotted cream know, the common folk of the creme republic adore you. children visit your resting spot everyday, bribing you with candies and squeezing a story or two out of you of your wonderful travels and asking “how is it like to rule the skies?” questions. sometimes they drag their parents along who also respect you because of the trade secrets you share with them, allowing their businesses to bloom. the elderly come by every once in a while, sitting down with you as all of you hold folktale telling competitions or recipe sharing conversations. even some of the creme republic’s leaders, who were curious about the legendary deity that clotted cream cookie had encountered, had stopped by to chat with you before returning to their work. in less than a fortnight, long after the deal was expected to be off, nearly the whole of the creme republic was in love with you.
and despite the number of visitors you receive on a daily basis, the consul whom you struck the deal with never fails to stop by and chat with you himself. sometimes he invites you to the night markets and treats you to the creme republic’s delicacies; on other days he sits down with you on the grass and asks about your legendary life.
clotted cream cookie is enamoured with you, to put it simply. unlike the usual respect or awe cookies would have for their gods or heroes, he sees you as a normal person who just so happens to be extraordinarily powerful. yet it doesn’t diminish the admiration he has for you, which is clear in how the look in his eyes becomes softer and softer over time.
“i wonder if it’s a legendary thing to just stop by random kingdoms to say hi to their leaders out of nowhere,” clotted cream comments, resting his head on a tree that the two of you lean on. it is the twentieth day since your uninvited visit, and the deal has not been broken yet. he doesn’t think it will any time soon, with how gentle and motherly you treat the citizens.
you laugh as a reply, and clotted cream does not stop the smile from edging up onto his lips. “no, it’s actually the first time i’ve done this. when you live for thousands of years with no duties to do, you get bored very easily. i hope that my visit to the republic was beneficial, other than helping your land prosper.”
you turn to him and look at him in the eye. he no longer flinches at your glowing eyes, but rather finds himself drowning in them. he can’t tell which is worse.
“it was. do you have any more tales to tell me?” he struggles to get the words out. he must seem so utterly embarrassing in front of a majestic god.
“oh, i’ll tell you one alright,” your laughter sounds like chimes in the wind and it is a sound clotted cream can never get enough of. he gets dizzy when you lean in and whisper, “once upon a time, a lonely wandering legendary cookie decided to visit a land full of advanced technology, wondering if they, a mythical being, could fit into such a society.”
“while they were admiring the greenery of this land, a handsome lad came up to them with the intent to drive them away because of his suspicions towards them.” clotted cream continues staring at you dazedly. an uncharacteristic, silly and smitten smile appears on his face. “did the handsome lad drive the beautiful deity away in the end?”
“he didn’t,” you giggle, covering your mouth with your sleeve. “he let them stay on the basis of a deal, and ended up befriending them in the process.”
“i wonder,” clotted cream starts, unwilling to let you continuously take the lead in this flirty conversation, “if this lad would like to get to know the beautiful deity even better.”
“if he does i’ll be surprised,” you can only hope the blush on your cheeks are not clear enough for him to see, “but i won’t be upset about it. in fact, i’ll be elated if he does.”
clotted cream musters the courage to lift your hand to his lips, before looking at you again. his eyes already tell you that he’s infatuated with you; though it isn’t like your worshippers haven’t loved you romantically before, you’ve never felt as ecstatic as when clotted cream looks at you like this. “then,” the consul’s voice is but a whisper, “i’d like to get to know you better, my dear.”
“isn’t it too late to say this?” you laugh again. “we’ve been having moonlit conversations for around two weeks straight.”
“i do hope it’s not too late to make you fall for me, though.”
his words are bold. his face is flustered yet confident. you wonder if coming to the creme republic was a mistake, if getting lost in his emerald eyes was the result of this trip. however, when he squeezes your hand and kisses it lightly again, waiting for your answer hopefully, you realise that perhaps this visit was more than worth it.
you smile and squeeze his hand back, hoping he understands your reply.
General's Gaze
Tumblr media
General Zod x Fem reader
Requested by: @mask-knife-is-heimdalls-wife
Warnings: Smut, swearing, threats, mentions of killing.
A/n: 18+ (tho I don't really care)
Summary: Y/n is human, Kal and her grew up together on earth. (In this story Krypton wasn't destroyed and Kal's family is still alive. Kal brings Y/n to his planet and Zod can't help his fascination in the human female.
__________________________________
"Kal! Are you for real!?" Y/n yelled while she slammed her suit case. "I actually get to meet your folks and see your planet!?"
He stood behind her smiling and shaking his head.
"Yes, but they've never met a human before. It is quite different there."
She turned to him and grabbed his forearms, not being able to reach his shoulders. "Is there sufficient oxygen!? I don't wanna get there and die cuz I can't breathe!"
"Don't worry, Krypton has oxygen."
Y/n nodded and put her hands on her hips
"Good good....h-how are we getting there? Not like we can't book a plane ticket or take the bus."
Kal walked into the living room and sat on the couch, Y/n fallowed him. She went into the kitchen and snatched a soda out of the fridge, throwing one to him. Y/n cracked hers open, she leaned against the counter and took a swig, pointing at Kal.
"So, you gonna fly us there? Or we takin a trip to NASA to snag a rocket? Or are you gonna phone one of your relatives?"
"We're taking the ship I came in." Kal replied.
"Alright, let's go."
______________
Kal and Y/n entered the ship, she sat down in one of the seats and cracked her knuckles.
"You know how to fly this thing?" She asked.
"It flys itself, I just have to punch in the location."
"Let's do it."
___
A couple hours went by, as Y/n just watched the stars pass by the window. She began to doze off, leaning back in her chair. Y/n heard a voice in her head, a man's voice. It was dark, controlling. When she finally drifted into sleep, a tall man came into view.
"Hello, my dear." He said. The man gently caressed her face, she couldn't help but be attracted. He had short dark hair, beautiful blue eyes that cold kill. Every curve of his muscles was perfectly outlined with a black suit that was a material she couldn't Identify.
"W-Who are you?" She stuttered.
"General Zod, you're on your way to Krypton?"
He began circling her. Y/n's nervous levels rising, Zod's gaze was so intense she thought she would melt.
"Yeah...your suit...it looks like Kal's. Are you from Krypton."
Zod stopped behind her, leaning forward. She could feel his breath on her neck....dang he was close.
"Yes, I look forward to seeing you."
"Why am I dreaming of you?" She asked, spinning around.
"I have the abilities to enter your dreams....turn them into nightmares if I desire."
Chills ran down her spine, she quickly turned to him. Y/n nodded and rubbed her hands together, she looked him up and down assessing just what the fuck she was looking at.
"Alright, you've gotta be just a figment of my imagination. Because this?" She motioned up and down. "This pristine chunk of man can't be real....I'm sorry."
Within a blink of an eye, Zod whipped out a knife and impaled her in the side.
The air caught in her throat, and she tasted blood. A smirk spread across his face.
"Now am I real?"
".....we'll see."
With that Y/n yanked herself out of her dream, she flew forward almost hitting the panel in front of her. Kal grabbed her just in time and pulled her back into her seat.
"Woah! You alright!?"
She didn't answer, she immediately touched her side. There wasn't a wound...but there was pain.
"We'll see." She repeated.
"We're here." Kal said.
_______________
Y/n walked with Kal and a couple of guards, they were lead into a large room, as they entered she scanned everyone she passed. Looking around the room, it was bright. Blue and gold lined the wallls, doors, and windows.
As they got closer to what she assumed was a throne of some sort, she locked eyes with a man...The man. That same smirk, those blue eyes, that dark expression that could kill the devil.
Kal had to stop Y/n from walking into someone, he grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Y/n!"
"Huh? Yeah....what!?"
He pointed at a rather handsome man in front of them, the man smiled and nodded.
"This is my father."
Y/n held out her hand, to which he looked confused. She glanced over at Kal then back at his father. She smiled, took his and and slowly shook it.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Y/n Y/L/n."
"Jor-El."
Y/n heard slow heavy footsteps behind her, Kal's father looked over and smiled.
"Ah, Y/n. This is General Zod."
She spun around, his expression not faulting Zod looked her up and down.
"If you come with me, I'll show you to your room."
Y/n looked over at Kal, she was scared. She didn't know this man, he was fuckin scary. She didn't think he was real.
He watched as she felt where he had stabbed her, that smirk returned.
"Come." Zod said, she could tell by the way he said it he wasn't suggesting shit, it was a command.
"Mk, I'm comin."
___________________
They trudged through the halls, she started to question if they had a destination at all. Y/n swore they passed that painting three times before.
"Mind telling me just who the fuck you are?"
"I suggest you don't speak to me in that manner."
They rounded the corner and she was suddenly pressed to the wall, she could feel the cold metal of his blade pressed to her side again.
"You wonder why I chose you?" He asked.
"Yeah, just outta no where you just decided "Oh well shit, this is a good time to jump into her dreams, stab her to make a point that wasn't made until twenty minutes ago."
He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her jaw, she flinched.
"Please. Don't."
"Shh, I've chosen you. You're mine. Any man touches you and I will kill them."
"Christ, you that obsessed?"
________________
Time passed and Y/n felt his gaze on her back constantly, she tried to tell Kal but he thought it was funny. She attempted to tell other women but they got jealous and brushed it off.
Everytime another man came close to her or attempted to flirt, he randomly came out of thin air, scaring the absolute fuck out of her.
"Why hello." A man with blonde hair said. "Im Kad-Von. I've seen you around, you are most beautiful."
Y/n smiled and crossed her arms, the man came closer setting his hand beside her head on the wall.
"Wow, you're really close."
"I see the way you cower in the gaze of Zod. I can protect you from him."
This man was getting way to friendly, she could kick his ass if she knew that they wouldn't shoot her into space.
"I believe that-"
"What do you think you're doing?" The man was interrupted by a deeper voice.
"Zod! W-what are you doing here?"
"Keeping you from making a serious mistake, take your hand off the wall and step away from her."
Y/n actually felt relief when he came around the corner, she couldn't saw why but she felt safe.
"Woah woah, Zod. This woman isn't your property."
"Remove yourself from our presence or I'll show you just how wrong you are."
Zod stepped closer, the other man chuckled and shook his head, he leaned in for a kiss but Y/n smacked him and ran.
She could hear a scream coming from behind her, Y/n didn't know what the General was doing to that guy, frankly she didn't wanna know.
Y/n went crashing through a crowd of people, more men looking at her like she was fried chicken. She bolted inside, and pushed her way into her room. Y/n went to slam the door but Zod caught it and pushed it back open, making Y/n stumble to the floor.
The General closed the door and slowly stalked towards her. Y/n stood up, her back hit the wall and Zod came so close she could feel his breathe upon her neck.
"He didn't deserve you, I do."
Zod's lips crashed into hers, making her moan. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he lifted her leg anto his hip.
"I've been watching you for a long time. Long before that day in your dream." He whispered.
Zod spun her around to face the wall and pulled up her skirt. She pressed her ass against his groin, he leaned forward so his chest was against her back.
"You want this? Huh? You want my cock?"
"Y-yes, please."
She suddenly felt his cock slide into her, they both let out groans as he started to thrust.
"Mine." Zod whispered in her ear. "Mine."
He held her hands above her head and thrusted hard into her, with his other hand he gripped her throat and gently squeezed.
"Say it."
"Hmm?"
"Who do you belong to?"
"Ah, fuck. Y-you."
His grip became tighter, he pulled her head back against his shoulder.
"Who?"
"G-General Zod."
THE END ❤️
(Fake ASMR Commission) Tomboy Giantess Flirts With You
------------------------------------------------------------
"Oooh, who's that down there? They look pretty cute. Hopefully they won't mind if I give them a bird's eye view~"
...
"Yoink! Heh heh~"
"Woah. Chill, little one. You're acting like I'm gonna bite your head off or something. I mean... I'll admit. You do look like a snack. Don't take that literally though. I may be... You know... Huge. But I'm not a monster. Not in a moral sense at least."
...
"See, that's the thing. Ever since monster people integrated into human society, everyone has been frustratingly cautious around giants specifically. Dragon-kin? That's fine. Slimes? No problem. Fairies? Oh, everyone loves fairies."
"But for some reason, giants are feared way too much. Even by other monster folk. Why do so many people assume that Big = Scary? It's like everyone forgot that giants are abiding by human laws. We're not gonna do anything bad."
...
"Ugh... Sorry. We just met & I'm already venting my problems to you like we've known each other for a decade. I should introduce myself before saying another word."
"My name is Colossa. And I'm a giantess who lives near the city."
...
"What's so funny? Is it my name?"
...
"Well yeah. We giants always get names befitting our massive size. I'm surprised we're able to keep finding ways to twist big adjectives into names."
"So anyway... What brings a cutie like you out here all by yourself?"
...
"Just a nature walk, huh? Well, if you're trying to appreciate the scenery then how about I put you on my head? Then you can see the world from my point of view."
...
"Oh come on! Don't be that way. Step out of your comfort zone. Live a little. Just hold onto my hair if you're afraid of falling off. Nothing bad is gonna happen."
...
"Nuh Uh! I insist. You're going on top of my head. Just relax. It'll be fun."
...
"Oh My God, you don't need to scream. Haha~ You're not in any danger. Just look at this view! I see the world like this all the time."
"Just hold on tight if you're really that afraid of falling. And even if you do, I'll provide you with a very soft landing. I assure you."
...
"That means whatever you want it to mean. Use your imagination."
"Anyway... This is awesome, right? I can hear you laughing up there. And just a moment ago, you were screaming."
...
"A fearful laugh. Yeah right. Just admit that you're enjoying this."
...
"See? I told you this would be fun. I bet there's plenty of humans out there who wish that a giant would do this for them. The dynamic of our drastically different sizes allows for a world of unique possibilities & fun ways for us to interact with each other."
...
"Oh, you wanna stay up there? That's fine by me."
"Wait a just a damn moment... I just thought of a great idea. How about I go for a walk while you stay on my head? You can pretend like I'm a giant mech that you're controlling. And we can just kinda... Talk about stuff, you know?"
...
"Yeah, that's what I thought. No one would turn down an opportunity like this. Enjoy the ride. And the view of course."
*giant footstep sounds start & go on for... a while. I'll let you know when I want it to stop. lol*
"So... Where are you from?"
...
"The city. Oooh, so we live close. That's convenient. I work in the city. Multiple jobs at that."
...
"Well, for starters... I'm an attraction at the amusement park."
...
"Yes, you heard that correctly. I am one of the attractions. There's a couple things I do. The first goes as follows."
"An attendant ties a bungee cord to one of my fingers. And then they tie that bungee cord to a human."
"After that, they climb onto the palm of my hand, I lift them up &..."
"I use them as a yo-yo!"
...
"Hahahaha! I'm kidding. If I really did that, then the human would be at risk of splatting into my hand on the rebound &... Well, we can't have that."
"What actually happens is the human simply jumping off my hand & letting the bungee cord do the rest."
...
"What if it breaks. What do you think? We have equipment to prevent accidents. Ever since I started this gig, there's never been an incident."
"The second thing I do at the amusement park is act as a swing ride. There's a couple ways I can do this."
"I can either attach a human to each of my fingers using bungee cords & swing them around that way. Or if there's less people, I can just clench them in my fists. Not too tightly of course. It's perfectly safe. Never had an issue."
...
"There are probably other things I could do at the amusement park if I wanted to, but I wanna talk about my other job. I'm a construction worker."
...
"Unsurprising, right? A giant working for construction. It makes all the sense in the world."
"Naturally, I do stuff like building, helping my co-workers with scaffolding & heavy lifting."
"But above all else... I LOVE when I'm put on demolition duty. It's so invigorating! Nothing beats the privilege of getting to break something! Tear it apart! It's great when I've had a bad day & just need to take out my anger on something."
...
"Oh relax. It's not like I have violent tendencies or anything. We all have our emotions. Still though... I suppose it's reasonable to feel uncomfortable in the presence of an angry giant even if they mean no harm. We're just so... Big. We gotta be careful around the smaller folk."
"Speaking of being careful... There's this one co-worker I know in particular. She's a Drider. And lemme tell ya... Driders really hate giant shoes. Must be a deep-rooted fear that bug folk have."
"One time, I didn't notice her below me & almost stepped on her. I felt terrible knowing what could've happened. It took her a few days to warm up to me again. Can't say I blame her. That must've been really scary for her."
...
"Yeah, being a giant isn't always as cool as it seems. There's some perks, sure. It's fun to tower over everything & be super strong. But I have to be so careful. Walking around in the city is a tricky endeavor."
"There's cars, people, infrastructure... One wrong move & something bad will probably happen. I gotta take it seriously. Can't just throw my weight around."
...
"You know you should never ask a girl's weight, right? Hehe~ Don't worry. It's fine. I understand your curiosity."
"I'm 150 feet tall & weigh over a thousand tons. So uh... Yeah. I carry a lot of responsibility within this body of mine."
...
"That's a great question. I'm not sure how I don't stress the streets' weight limit. Hmmm... You know what? Let's not think too much about that."
...
"Why'd I pick you up. Well..."
*giant footstep sounds stop now*
"God, why can't I find the words for this? It isn't that complicated. Um... Hold on. I'm gonna take you off my head now. I want you in my hands for this."
...
"You're really cute &... You know... Good looks usually get a person through the front door &..."
...
"Sigh... I wanna get to know you. I don't know why that was so hard for me to say. It's just... I work with humans all the time, but I've always wanted to establish a personal connection with one. I'm not saying we need to start a relationship if you don't want to. I feel that would come off too strongly. We just met. But I at least wanna go out on a date with you. Maybe we can be friends. Something more if you want."
"Ugh... I sound like such a bumbling mess right now. I wanna state my desires, but don't wanna overwhelm you. And I don't even really know if I'm looking for romance or just a friendship."
"I'm sorry. This is all probably frying your brain, isn't it?"
...
"You... You get it. Really? You understood all of that?"
...
"You'll go on a date with me. For real? Seriously?"
...
"That's so awesome! I could jump for joy right now!"
"Buuuuut I won't. I'd cause some pretty bad tremors if I did that. Don't wanna set off an earthquake because I got too excited."
...
"Yeah, let's discuss date ideas. I can think of a few ways in which a human & giant can mingle. We just need something fun that we can both agree on."
"I'm really looking forward to learning more about you, little one."
Fratboys and Full Rides (TEASER)
Johnny Worthington x monster!reader
Tumblr media
“Hey! Party’s over. Why are you still here?” A tall, horned monster asks me. He crosses his arms as he waits for an answer.
I frown when I see him wearing ROR gear. I only remember seeing him for a few seconds when we started cleaning the main room. “I’m just here to hang out with Javier, but I had to go to the bathroom. I helped clean up earlier, if you remember?”
“I’m the leader of the most prestigious fraternity on campus, sweetheart, I don’t have time to memorize every face I see.”
I cringe internally at ‘sweetheart’. “Yea, don’t ever call me that again, thanks. I’m just gonna go find my friend now.” I turn to walk away, but get yanked back by one of my wings. “Hey!”
“Did you hear what I said, charity case? Go home!” He barks, “You’re not permitted in the building without an escort!”
I whip my wing out of his grasp and with one swoop, go from being one and a half feet shorter than him to being two feet taller than him. Wings have their perks in the face of entitled trust fund babies. “Touch my ‘charity case’ ass again and see how quickly you don’t have limbs to monster-handle folks with.” I spit, the embers in the back of my throat already heating up. I can see the smoke billowing out of my nose.
“Woah, woah, what’s going on here?” Javier says, just having walked into the hall and taking the scene in with a healthy amount of shock.
“Your fuckin’ friend here’s finna lose his hands if he keeps up the bullshit, that’s what’s going on!” I hiss.
“Your girlfriend has a mouth on her and is a few more words away from being banished from this frathouse, Rios. Handle her.” He sighs, like my existence is just an annoyance to him.
Javier jumps between the two of us before I can burn the guy’s face off and says, “There are a couple things you need to know about y/n, Worthington. One, her fire melts things, two, she has a temper, and three, she is not my girlfriend. She is an independent person and I can’t exactly ‘handle’ her, but if I’m expected to be able to deescalate things between you two, I can’t have remarks like that made.” He looks at me. “Are you good?”
“Is he good?” I ask, incredulous. “He pulled my wing! And on top of that he was yelling at me for no fucking reason!”
“Okay, and I will talk to him about that later, but right now we need to go, okay?”
I look between Javier and Worthington, the latter wearing a shit-eating grin that says he knows I’m torn. I toss him a glare, then growl, “Fine.” I whip around, flying down the hallway as fast as my wings can carry me. I pause at the door, impatiently tapping my foot while waiting for Javier to catch up. When he reaches me I mutter, “Make sure your stupid fuckin’ rude ass buddy over there knows if he ever treats me like that again I’m gonna ‘handle’ it how I want to. I don’t care if I get expelled man, fuck that shit, I hate when trust fund babies treat scholarship students like we’re worth nothing!”
“Yo yo yo, y/n, slow down, I get it, I get it - I’m on a few scholarships myself. But that’s not gonna solve anything. And you’ll get banished to the human world.” Javier reasons, “The best revenge right now is to not let him see he gets to you. Worthington is my guy, okay? He’s not gonna do that again. He’s not even the type to do that from out of nowhere so something must be up for him to even disrespect you like that. I’m gonna make sure he knows, and I got your back. Okay?” He says, hand on my shoulder while he waits for me to chill out.
I push the doors open as hard as I can, expelling some of my anger with a breath of fire. “Okay.” I say irritably, “But I don’t like him. I hate him. So don’t even try to get us to be friends or any dumb shit like that.”
He laughs. “I won’t, but if you wanna hang out on campus you’re gonna have to be around him without burning the building down. A lot of my time’s spent doing frat activities, so...”
I roll my eyes. “Whatever, Javier.”
“Do you promise not to breathe fire?” He asks.
“If he promises not to be a dick, then sure.”
(I'm in a real fix. Here I brought back a buncha souvenirs from the Sweets circle an' all, but ain't no way I'm gonna be able to finish 'em on my own.)
(Worse-case scenario I could hand 'em over to Niki-han, probably...)
(But these cakes look like right jewels and handin' 'em over to him when he wolfs everythin' down with a lick o' the lips seems just a bit of a waste.)
(Maybe I'll pop 'em into the freezer and have 'em over several days? Be real nice if Jun-han showed up in the meantime, though.)
Woah, these all look super expensive. They're gonna put my souvenir to shame.
Kohaku: Your souvenir?
Jun: After our shoot ended, we somehow decided that since we were there, we might as well go souvenir shopping. Can't remember who started it, though.
I went along with it, but had seriously no idea what to buy...
So I wound up picking out some basic cookies you'd see at any tourist spot with a typical touristy greeting printed on 'em.
Jun: Yeah. I mean, you've been a great roommate to me. That is, if you don't mind, of course.
It's a lil' early for bedtime, so won'tcha tell me about yer trip? I'd love to hear all 'bout it over some cake and cookies.
Jun: Sure, why not. My trip, huh...
Well, I had my hands full with Ohii-san trying to run around everywhere the whole time, pretty much~
The idea behind the whole shoot was for the four of us in Eden to do some sightseeing however we pleased, but...
At least some part of this stuff's gotta be scripted, yeah? Our sponsor's a tourism company, after all.
I got a real fright when we went to this one street lined with old townhouses. When I looked back, no one else was there.
Turned out while I was giving it my all to introduce the place in front of the cameras, the other three were chilling on a bench having some mitarashi dango outside a teahouse.
Goddamn! And it wasn't just Ohii-san & Nagi-senpai, but even Ibara joined 'em, y'know~ They all had these grins plastered on their faces as if to say 'nice shot'!
Y'see, before comin' to ES, I hadn't ever gone on a trip to somewhere far away before. I didn't know a lick 'bout anything beyond what was right around me.
I can't even begin to picture the place ya went to shoot at, Jun-han, but someday I'd like ta have a look 'round myself.
Jun: You could go whenever you have the time, really. You gotta make a transfer, but the trip itself won't take even half a day.
I know, I'll send you stuff over HoldHands 'bout the places I liked best, and some photos, too.
Hiyori: Jun-kun, so this is where you were!
Jun: Ohii-san!? What're you doing here...? Didn't you say you were gonna stay the night over there and come back in the morning?
Hiyori: I just didn't feel like it anymore so I came back early, you see. Are you having a little tea party? Let me join you!
Kohaku: Fine by me. I'll go an' get some tea ready.
Hiyori: Hmm? Haven't I seen these cookies somewhere before?
Jun: Well yeah, that's the souvenir I bought. Didn't you buy the exact same thing, Ohii-san?
Hiyori: Oh, that's right, now that you mention it. I bought so much else that I'd simply forgotten.
Speaking of souvenirs, I bought quite a number of those too, but they were so heavy I couldn't possibly carry them all by myself. I told the driver to drop them off at the dorm entrance, so I'd like you to go fetch them!
Jun: Are you talking to me?
Hiyori: Obviously. After all, Jun-kun, this is you we're talking about so of course you'd take care of it!
On that note, I'm currently in the mood for some black tea. Kohaku-kun, do prepare some for me, won't you?
Jun: (...And here I thought I'd have some rare peace and quiet tonight.)
Jun: (Well, this feels more like my usual routine, anyway.)
All That Was Fair
Summary: Jamie turns to the bookstore owner in search of help
Chapter 31
***
Jamie was at the end of his rope. With every passing hour, he watched Claire get worse and worse. She was pale, drawn, with dark circles stark under her eyes. Her ashen skin, so different from the soft gleam of its usual pearl, made him want to break down sobbing. She was so different from the vivacious faerie he’d come to know. It broke his heart to see her despondence, and he loved her far too much to endure her suffering in silence for even a moment more.
So he decided to turn to the one place he might find help.
The bookstore owner.
It seemed foolish— bordering on mad— to go to a complete stranger for help on the love of his life. Only this Geillis seemed to be the only one besides Claire herself that knew anything about the Fair Folk. Jamie couldn’t simply take her to a hospital. Going to Geillis was the only thing he could think to do. He was out of options.
He sat then on the couch, with Claire draped over his lap like a flesh and blood blanket, having just arrived at a decision.
“Mo ghraidh?” he said quietly.
He reached out a hand to tangle gently in her curls, his fingers delighting in the softness of it.
“What is it, Jamie?” she asked.
Even her voice came off weak, hard as she was trying to sound unaffected. There was a breathy tonality, as if she couldn’t quite draw in enough air. A chilling reflection of her exhaustion.
“I’m goin’ tae go back to the bookstore,” he said simply.
At that, Claire sat up, pushing her hands against his thighs to brace herself enough to get upright. Big whisky eyes regarded him with a bewildered expression.
“To see the witch? Why?”
It took Jamie a second to realize what she had just said. He was opening his mouth to answer the “why” when the first part of her question finally sunk into his brain. His heart stopped beating for a solid second at the same time as his brain ground to a halt.
“Did ye say ‘witch’?” he asked hollowly.
Claire furrowed her brows and stated simply, “of course. The one who gave you her notes on traveling through the stones? That witch?”
“I—” Jamie’s tongue was tied in knots as he struggled to get on board with this new reality-shattering revelation, “I didna ken witches were real,” he finished lamely.
“Oh,” Claire said, with the same patience Jamie had when explaining something like toothbrushing to her, “she is. That just means she is a human who understands about our realm.”
Blinking, Jamie gave her a look. He was struck dumb for the moment, but as soon as he regained the ability to speak, he demanded, “ye kent she was a witch all this time and didna tell me?”
Claire blinked her weary eyes and gave a nonchalant shrug, looking a bit more like herself as she answered with a straightforward, “It didn’t seem all that important.”
“Ehmm... so… how did ye know?” he asked, trying to keep up.
“Sensed it. I just sort of… knew. Like how you know when someone is from a different place that you haven’t been. We both saw each other for who we are. Plus it makes sense, since she obviously knew I’m of the fair folk, that’s why she gave you the book.”
Jamie gave a hesitant nod. He was about to ask more questions about witches when he noticed Claire was raising a hand to her head and rubbing it wearily. His stomach turned over in sympathy.
Overcome by the bittersweet tenderness, he reached out a hand to replace hers, cupping her face gently.
“I’m goin’ tae ask her if she kens anythin’ that can help ye, lass,” he said gently, “Just because ye dinna ken what’s goin’ on doesna mean we canna find answers.”
She leaned her face into his touch until his hand was the only thing keeping her head raised.
“That’s not a bad idea, Jamie,” she said quietly, “let’s go.”
“‘Let’s’?” Jamie echoed, “nae, a nighean. Ye can barely stand on yer own two feet. I wouldna have ye do anything other than rest.”
“And I would not have you go to a witch alone,” she countered.
Jamie’s eyes widened and he felt his brain kick into overdrive. “Do you mean she might be dangerous?”
“No,” Claire said with a shake of her head, still leaving her face pressed into his hand, “I know she’s not. But I’m coming.”
His stubborn lass.
Jamie brought his other hand up to frame her face, fixing her with his best admonishing stare.
“I said no, mo Sorcha. Ye’re stayin’ here.”
He saw the spark of resistance flare in her eyes before she made the move. Pulling away from him, Claire stood abruptly to her feet. Weak as she was, she swayed for a second, thrusting out a hand to grab hold of the top of the couch and steady herself. Jamie popped up beside her, getting ready to reach out to grab hold of her waist, but she took a hasty step back.
“I’m going,” she insisted.
Jamie was left trailing after her as she began to walk stubbornly toward the door (her weakness only betrayed by the way her body shook with tiny tremors). She grabbed the bolt and slid it free with a clang before throwing open the door and walking outside.
“Claire!” Jamie called, running out after her, barely snagging the car keys and his wallet from the table before he did, “wait!”
She whirled around— the most energetic thing she’d done in a long while, it hurt him to recognize— and placed her hands on her hips. As she did though, her eyes grew wide as if she was suddenly feeling dizzy, and her hand shot out instead to brace against her knee.
Getting hold of herself, she straightened once again. “Like I said, I’m coming with you. Now, should I do it myself or are you going to help me?”
Knowing he’d lost the battle and terrified that he’d be forced to watch her collapse as she stubbornly walked to the car if he refused, Jamie caught up to her.
Gently taking her by the arm, he said quietly, “alright, a leannan, my stubborn lass, you win.”
***
Claire had laid her head down on his lap the moment they were both seated in the car. She spent the majority of the ride to Inverness slipping in and out of consciousness while Jamie worried over her. He prayed under his breath that God would send them answers in the form of this witch. She’d provided him with revelations once before, so Jamie could only dare to hope she’d have a solution just waiting for them.
As he pulled into the public lot nearest the bookstore, he found himself daunted by the distance Claire would be forced to walk. She hadn’t seemed to have noticed that they weren’t moving anymore, and her breathing was shallow as she drifted in that odd state of half-consciousness.
“Claire,” he said gently, his voice catching in his throat, “we’re here, a nighean.”
She raised her head, curls falling back behind her, and then dragged her body upright. She rubbed again at glassy eyes, trying to find the necessary strength.
“Take yer time,” he said softly.
When her hand fell away and her eyes connected with his, the desperate look inside of them sent him crumbling to pieces.
“Do you really think she’ll know what’s happening?” she asked in a tiny voice.
The air in his lungs was expelled with a whoosh. She wasn’t asking him that, not really. She knew he would have no idea— he’d only just learned about the existence of witches mere minutes ago. No, she was asking him to tell her everything would be okay. And that much he could do.
“Aye, a nighean. I pray that she can gi’ us somethin’. It’ll be alright.”
She gave a shaky nod, and Jamie took that as her being ready. He went around to her side to take her hand and pull her out of the car. She got out easily enough, but once she was standing outside, she fell against Jamie’s chest. He quickly encircled her in his arms, holding on tight to keep her upright.
“Woah,” he murmured, “take a second. Ye’re okay.”
The words felt weak even in his own mouth.
She took his advice, leaning against him for a drawn out moment before she raised her head just enough to say. “Okay, let’s go.”
Of all the tortures Jamie’s brain had conjured in his life— speculations about how it might be to die by fire versus drowning or other such morbid games— the torture of the next few minutes of watching his very ill faerie struggle to walk down the street topped any agony he’d considered before (save maybe the time when he’d left her at the stones and thought he’d be facing a life without her).
He kept one arm wrapped tightly around her waist the whole time. The weight of her leaning against him was obvious, and he worked to support her as much as possible. As she struggled to put one foot in front of the other, drained as she was, Jamie cursed himself for giving in so easily and allowing her to come along.
But she pushed on, his stubborn lass. After a couple slow and shaky blocks, they arrived at the bookstore. There was only time for a single exchange of hopeful looks before Claire stepped away and took his hand instead.
He pushed open the door with a jingle.
*
Just like the last time, they were greeted by the air of other-worldliness. Knowing as he now did that Geillis was, in fact, partial to things not of this world, the odd atmosphere made more sense. It took a moment for Jamie’s eyes to adjust to the dim lighting and an even longer while for the goosebumps on his arms to ease.
Claire must have sensed Geillis’ presence before Jamie did because there was a squeeze to his hand the second before a red head popped out from between two shelves in the back.
“Ooh, the lovers, back again. Did ye read my wee notes, fox cub?” Geillis cooed.
She emerged from between the shelves holding two old books to her chest, looking quite excited.
“Yes, they were verra… informative. I thank ye for it. That’s actually why we’re here…”
Jamie was about to launch into his plea for help when Geillis suddenly stopped dead in her tracks a few feet before reaching them. Her eyes went wide as she looked at Claire, a frown slowly forming between her brows and on those cherry colored lips.
“I see…” she said softly, “something is wrong wi’ yer fair one, aye?”
Sensing something— maybe it was a laxness in her fingers or maybe it was just his intuition— Jamie glanced down at Claire just in time to see her face freeze and eyes go distant. He let go of her hand and whirled around to catch her just before she collapsed. Both of his arms went around her tightly and pulled her to him as her knees buckled.
Looking down at her pale, scrunched features, Jamie was relieved to see that she wasn’t unconscious, but she certainly wasn’t doing well. Her eyes were glassy as she blinked hard, trying to keep herself aware.
He looked up from his suffering love to give Geillis a pleading look.
“We need yer help,” his voice broke on the word help.
Geillis looked somber, studying him and the faerie in his arms. Then, she gave a nod.
“Bring her back, and then tell me everything.”
*
“Back” apparently was referring to a back room. Geillis had led them to the back of the bookstore as Jamie all but carried Claire, and then she pulled back a curtain to gesture them into another room.
With Claire tucked tightly into his side, Jamie ducked through the doorway.
On the other side was a whole second bookstore with the same crowded shelves and haphazard organization. Only this side also had shelves of all kinds of paraphernalia— vials of colorful liquids, bowls containing small animal bones, and all types of odd trinkets. Jamie tried to take everything in, but his mind was so fixated on Claire that he had trouble taking stock of all the things Geillis had in her secret stock.
His survey was interrupted as Geillis gestured them toward a window on the far right. There was a bench seat built into the window, and Jamie brought Claire over to it and sat her down before joining her on the smooth, wooden surface. Geillis appeared a second later with a chair, setting it up in front of them before settling in and regarding him with raised brows.
Claire was leaning against his side, quiet as a mouse and their fingers entangled where they rested together on Jamie’s thigh. Her head tilted down slowly to rest on his shoulder— too tired even to feign strength.
Geillis looked at them for a long moment before saying, “tell me everything.”
So Jamie explained. How he found her on the hill. Her story of wandering on the moors when she fell through the stones. How he’d taken her into his home before reading the book and trying to take her back. Her choice to stay. And finally, her deteriorating condition— the exhaustion that rendered her drained and lifeless.
In the middle of his explanation, Claire had drifted down to lay her head in Jamie’s lap and curl her feet on the bench. It had made the lump in his throat grow, nearly choking off his words, but he’d pressed on to finish his story, knowing how important it was to get answers.
Once he’d finally closed his mouth, Geillis gave a thoughtful hum, looking down at the faerie in his lap with a worried expression that was almost pitying.
“I could tell the moment she walked in that somethin’ was wrong,” she said softly.
“Anyone wi’ two eyes could see that, she can barely stand on her own two feet!” Jamie snapped. He regretted it instantly. Geillis was their greatest hope and her comment didn’t warrant that response, he was just so worried that he was strung nearly to breaking.
He started to apologize when she cut him off. “Nae, I meant her aura is wrong. Worse than wrong it’s… barely there.”
Jamie couldn’t help but ask, “that’s how ye kent she was a faerie the first time, aye?”
Geillis nodded. She was quiet for another gut-wrenching moment, looking down at Claire. The lass in his lap was unconscious, and Geillis seemed to be longing to talk to her instead of him. Or maybe she was just studying her.
“Do ye ken what’s wrong then?” Jamie couldn’t help but ask, “please? Any ideas at all. I—” he started to try to express how terrified he was, how he couldn’t bear for anything to happen to her, but the words clogged in his throat. He looked down at her as hot tears pricked in his eyes and brushed those beautiful curls back in a way that was probably more soothing for him than it even was for her— out of it as she was.
When he looked back to meet the startling green eyes, there was sympathy there.
“I have a theory…” she said, but trailed off.
Jamie felt his entire body lift. His back straightened as he eagerly asked, “tell me?”
Her eyes flicked down again to his hands stroking Claire. “Ye willna like it.”
The hope that had begun forming in his chest popped with suddenly ferocity. He felt sick to his stomach, worse than he ever had on a boat or plane in the worst of his motion sickness bouts. He wished he could just refuse to hear the bad news that was about to come, but he had to face it, for Claire’s sake. No matter what, he would keep fighting.
“Tell me,” he said. This time it wasn’t a question.
Geillis settled back in her chair, folding her hands in her lap.
“Ye said she came through the stones by accident, aye? I think…” for the first time ever, Geillis looked hesitant, “I dinna ken how else to say it…. I think she’s becomin’ human.”
“What?!” Jamie burst out, loud enough to make Claire jerk in his lap. He quickly looked down, placing his hands on her again to settle her. She hadn’t fully woken, so his touch on her side and face was enough to soothe her back into tenuous sleep. He looked back up to Geillis and repeated, more quietly this time, “what?”
She looked uncomfortable as she looked at Claire like the theory was forming in her head. “Well, not exactly becomin’ human. Not really. She’s still fae. It’s jes— ye ken she’s from another plane, aye? Well now she’s separated from her realm, and things are different here. She canna draw energy in the same way. Going through the stones— being here in this realm— she’s cut off, and she canna eat and drink like the rest of us to sustain herself, her body isna capable. She’s likely been drawing on what energy she can, but it isna the same as in her realm.”
Jamie came back to himself to find he was clutching the end of Claire’s hair in a balled-up fist. He felt like Geillis’ explanation had torn him open and ripped him inside-out.
“So...” he spoke through the bile rising in his throat, “she’s essentially starvin’ to death? From lack of energy?”
She nodded solemnly. Her fixed gaze on him was so intense that he had to look away. He tried to look down, but the sight of Claire’s pale face as she slept in his lap made his eyes burn with tears.
“Do ye—” Jamie tried to ask, choking back tears, “what can I do?”
Geillis looked sympathetic but made no move.
“Take her back to the stones,” she said simply.
Jamie shook his head violently, his very body tense, as if it could expel the idea. “No, no, she doesna want that. There has to be another way. She could eat— or—”
“That won’t help her, that’s not what she needs. I’m sorry, fox, I… I don’t know of anything else,” her voice was so low and excruciatingly sympathetic that Jamie wanted to scream.
He found himself still shaking his head in denial. There was a sharp ache in his stomach, as if his heart had shoved its way down there.
“I dinna think I can—” he choked as the first tears began to fall. Trying to find the barest hint of comfort, he stroked Claire’s hair again, his fingers brushing her face.
“There’s no choice,” Geillis said finally, “she’ll die.”
*
Jamie wanted to leave the bookstore. He almost wished that he had never come— only he could never wish to be ignorant about such a thing, even if it was tempting. He glanced down at Claire in his lap.
She was unconscious, her face nearly ashen in the light from the window. There was no hint of her usual golden warmth— only pallid skin and dark circles under her eyes. He could feel her shallow breathing,
He wanted to break down completely. The allure of giving into his grief was so strong, but she didn't deserve to languish in this place any longer. He would see her home.
The polite thing would have been to thank Geillis for her help. Only his throat was so clogged that the words never would have come out. He couldn’t even spare a glance up at her.
A silent tear dripped down his cheek as he reached a hand down to gently shake Claire’s cheek.
“Mo ghraidh?” he choked.
He was suddenly overcome by the acute desire— no need— for her to wake up. He had to see those golden eyes or he’d die. He couldn’t draw breath, he couldn’t—
She opened her eyes slowly, blinking dazedly up at him from where her head rested in his lap between his hands. He expected her to murmur out “what’s wrong?’ as she usually would have upon finding him in such a state of extreme distress. But she didn’t say a word. She was likely too tired to sense his emotions, too tired to even bring herself to confront the reality that was showing on his face. She just breathed in shakily.
Jamie somehow found a strength inside himself that he didn’t know he possessed. He gathered his composure— for her sake.
“Let’s go home,” he said softly, his voice astoundingly even.
He gathered Claire up in his arms with the utmost care, lifting her under back and knees until he was standing face to face with Geillis.
“Take care of her, fox cub,” the witch said solemnly.
Jamie swallowed hard. Unable to verbalize it out loud, he gave her a nod.
A promise.
He would send her back. He would do what needed to be done to save her.
At that moment, Claire stirred in his arms.
“We’re leaving?’ came her breathy question.
“Yes, a leannan. We’re going home.”
To his surprise, her hand pushed against his chest— her touch weak and lacking any real force, but still insistent.
“I don’t— they’ll—” she sounded distressed, which broke Jamie’s heart. But she was so incoherent he didn’t have any idea how to assuage her.
“What is it, a nighean?” he asked, on the verge of tears.
“Don’t want them to see,” she finally managed.
That did him in. More tears leaked from his eyes to pour down his cheeks. He swallowed the sob in his throat.
She had always hated other people seeing her— accustomed as she was to being invisible to humans— and now she was embarrassed by the thought of Jamie carrying her through Inverness.
“Dinna think about them,” Jamie answered, barely able to contain the heartache in his voice, “no one matters except you, mo ghraidh.”
She still looked distressed. Her eyes were squeezed closed again, her brows furrowed, and she shook her head.
“Jamie, I…”
Her voice trailed off. Her head lolled on his shoulder, and he nearly broke down all over again.
He turned his teary gaze to Geillis, giving her his best look of pleading.
“Is there nothin’ ye can do tae ease her?” he asked brokenly.
Geillis looked wrecked too, staring at Claire as if the sight of his wee faerie suffering was too terrible to look away from. “I’m sorry,” she said with a sad shake of her head, “there’s nothin’ I can do.”
Jamie bit his lip, hard enough to draw blood, and then refocused on his love.
“Damn the world,” he told her firmly, “we’re goin’ home.”
IMPORTANT:
Hi, friends! I mentioned a few chapters ago that I will be going on hiatus for a short time. I've finished writing arc II now, and in the interest of leaving you all at a decent stopping point before I go on hiatus, I will be dropping a chapter a day. There are 3 more chapters after this one until arc II wraps up. BUT the story will be far from over, so I truly hope you stick around until I get back in a number of weeks. I love this story and these characters so much and I'm really excited for arc III.
With that being said... I will now be running off to hide in fear of my life. IknowIknowIknowI'msorry! SORRY!
synopsis - requested by @strkydrw! JJ isnt used to public affection and it creates a wedge between the two of you. which JJ isnt about to let happen.
warnings - mentions of anxiety, smidge of angst, and a swear cause i felt like it. 1.7k of comfort!boyfriend!JJ
JJ Maybank was not one for public displays of affection. He was so used to going it alone that he couldn’t fathom someone wanting to love him for the whole world to see. You were okay with it, really you were, it was just something that made the blonde who he was.
Through your time together he became more lenient. A short peck in front of the Pogues or rough fingertips brushing the skin of your waist when your shirt rose up at a kegger. He loved you and that’s all you could ask for.
But to say you weren’t needy for his affection would be a complete lie. Curling into his side at the Kook’s walk-in movie, being able to love on your perfect boy for the whole world to see, but little hand touches were enough for you if it meant JJ was yours.
You had a bad day. A crap day. Everything that could’ve gone wrong, did and now you want your boyfriend. You needed JJ’s arms to wrap you up and push all your worries away. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen.
You were at a party at the Boneyard, like most summer nights on Outer Banks, and your personal security blanket was far too busy by the keg to take notice of you. Pope was sitting next to you on a piece of driftwood. The sweet boy had a knack for reading you and the Pogues like an open book. He could spot your glowering from just about anywhere.
“Pope, I’m fine.”
“Yeah and I’ll leave you alone when I believe you.”
“Pope,” he glared at you, “okay, okay.”
The two of you settled into a calm silence. Pope sipped at his plastic water bottle, which Kie had already ratted him for, and you fiddled with your fingers, relaxing at JJ’s smile in the distance. A frown slipped over your features just as quickly as your sweet smile had appeared.
“Y/N?”
Turning your head to the dark skinned boy, you appreciated his concerned smile but honestly you’d rather bask in your misery alone if you couldn’t have your blue-eyed boy.
“I’m gonna walk home,” Pope’s eyes followed your movement as you stood, “tell JJ for me?”
Now he knew something was off, though you and your boyfriend were never outwardly affectionate, Pope knew of the silent love you shared. The fact you didn’t want to tell JJ you were leaving nor grasped the opportunity to squeeze the blonde’s hand was unsettling.
He watched you slip away, staying out of the firelight so JJ had no chance of catching your departure. He waited until you disappeared over the dune and started your short walk back home before practically bounding across the beach and gripping JJ’s bicep.
“Woah Pope, quite the grip there.”
“Y/N went home.”
“What?”
“Y/N left.”
The blonde quickly scanned the sandy beach, eyebrows furrowing when he didn’t find your familiar figure. He glanced back at Pope.
“Do you know why?”
“She seemed upset.”
“What? Why didn’t sh-”
“I don’t know, but that’s not the point,” he flicked the side of JJ’s head, “the point is that your girlfriend needs you so bust a move.”
Pope barely got the last words out before the blue-eyed boy practically sprinted through the crowd.
You were a mess by the time you reached your familiar grey house with tears streaming down your cheekbones as the screen door slammed behind you. You pushed your way through the house, feeling your legs ready to give out under your weight.
You slipped out of your clothes and goosebumps rose across your skin, the summer breeze chilled against your tanned skin. Pushing your jackets and sundresses aside in your closet, you reached for the worn white t-shirt tucked behind the rest of your clothes. The stained Pelican Marina shirt was one of your prized possessions. JJ had asked you about the article of clothing before saying how he lost it and wondered if you had seen it.
You denied everything.
The t-shirt always calmed you, the smells of the salt air and JJ’s weed, it made you feel like you were curled up in his hold. With just his shirt on, you slid under your blankets and pulled the knitted fabric to your chin. You tried to ignore the wetness of your skin and the pinch in your chest that even JJ’s aroma couldn’t solve.
You were so distracted by your waves of emotions you nearly missed the soft revving of the motorbike in your driveway. Your heart clamped when you heard the soft murmurs between your boyfriend and your dad as they undoubtedly worried about your off demeanor.
“Y/N?”
Your breathing felt erratic as you quickly closed your eyes, praying you wouldn’t have to admit anything to JJ. You waited for him to leave after a soft sigh slipped through the crack beneath your door, but instead you heard the familiar creak of wood against rusted hinges.
You silently thanked your past self for laying down with your back to the wall because you knew you’d crack under JJ’s crystal gaze. Willing your lungs to settle, you felt his familiar warm touch settle over the fabric of his shirt you were wearing. The soft movement of his fingers kneading into your back nearly caused a whimper after longing for the boy’s touch for so long.
“Baby? I know you're awake.”
Mentally cursing your boyfriend, you rolled over to your side as JJ pressed his body closer to yours, practically laying on the bed now.
“Hi.”
“Hi sweet girl.”
He sweetly pressed his lips to the tip of your nose, smiling against the skin when he felt your cheek against his hand warm up. The blonde tried to pull back to admire your flushed features but you hid your face in his neck. You smiled when your actions emitted a chuckle from the boy which filled up the silence in your room.
This was what you wanted more than anything. Your perfect, loving JJ holding you close and kissing you tenderly, but not like this. You wanted to feel adored outside of the safety of closed doors and four walls, but that wouldn’t happen. You pouted at your ruined daydream.
“Hey, hey,” JJ felt your frown against his tanned skin, “baby, you have to tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Y/N…”
“Really, it’s nothing, J, can we just forget it?”
“No.”
“J-”
“Tell me.”
You stayed silent, breathing in his presence, the pinch in your chest finally releasing.
“Baby, please?”
“Are you embarrassed by me?”
“What?”
He pulled away from your touch as he frantically searched for some kind of explanation in your eyes.
“Sweet girl? Why would you ever think that?”
“You’re embarrassed to be seen with me.”
“That’s not true.”
“You have to force yourself to kiss me in front of your friends and you won’t talk to me, much less touch me in public. It’s like I’m dating different people, JJ. The boy I fell in love with and some guy who’d never give me the time of day.”
“Bab-”
“No,” you sat up, letting his once comforting arm slip off your body, “I had the worst day and everything was too much and I just needed you. I need you, JJ. But I didn’t even want to tell you because I was scared you were going to brush me off. I don’t want to have to think twice before going to you, I shouldn’t have to but I jus-”
You were cut off by a harsh sob that was building up in your throat throughout the day. The weight of everything pulling you down for too long. Your cries, however, were quickly muddled as JJ pulled you into his warm, taut chest. His pillowy lips pushed against your skin, shushing you in comfort.
“I’m so sorry, Baby, I’m not embarrassed by you. For fuck’s sake, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m sorry. I’m just not used to it, I guess. You love so proudly and the fact that I have you is overwhelming. I’ve never done this before, loving someone. I wish you had told me, sweet girl, I love you so much, angel. So much and if you need me to hold you or kiss you or whatever, just tell me, okay?”
You nodded against the soft fabric of his navy shirt, your sobs giving out to breathy whimpers. It was peaceful like that, the room completely dark except for the moon and stars shining through your curtains and your boy holding you tight as you laid on his chest. You leaned back to stare at his serene facial features and watched as he fiddled with the hem of your clothing.
“Baby?”
You hummed, settling back into the crook of his neck.
“Is this my shirt?”
“Umm, maybe?”
He felt your skin heat up against his and smirked, trying to catch your eye in the dim light.
“Why’d you take it?”
“I don’t know, I just wanted you with me when I couldn’t have you.”
“Don’t be embarrassed, sweet girl, I like you in my clothes. And you can always have me, okay?”
You hummed again, drowsiness forcing your lids closed. JJ shivered as your eyelashes fluttered over the smooth skin of his neck.
“What do you think of wearing this to tomorrow’s boat day with everyone?”
He mumbled into the night, smiling at the idea of you laying out with his shirt announcing you were his, but his suggestion went unanswered because your were already fast asleep in the comfort of the blue-eyed boy’s arms.
Not A Warning, Babe, It’s An Order
yet another whf tickling fic! i just cant get enough of these two. this one is a lot longer and a good bit more.... sweet? cute?
in this; virgil didnt die and also nick and jack are Frens <3
“Ugh!” Nick huffed, balling up yet another failed composition and throwing it towards the trash can- at this point, while most of it at the bottom was empty bottles, it was overflowing with similar papers. Ripped, crushed, and ruined.. None of them were right. He couldn’t get down the mood he wanted, not in the slightest- and though he eyed the pills set in a neat bowl on his desk, he ended up shoving those away too and just pressing his head to his hands.
This wasn’t working. He couldn’t feel it, that groove that would inspire him to write a million words all in one night- that focus, that drive.. It eluded him.
From the open window, a cold chill. He’d left it open on purpose, of course- tonight, of all nights, he’d actually hoped that Jack would show up- but so far, nothing. Perhaps he wasn’t listening.
Perhaps he was off indulging in his own hobby. A thought that would’ve once made Nick shudder just made him snort now, and he stood up to grab his guitar.
Maybe this time, he could interrupt the magician’s work instead.
Making his way over to the window, he gave the guitar a few plucks- out of tune, dammit- but with his keen ear for such things, he twisted the pegs just so until the guitar sang as beautifully as ever. He pushed open the door to the balcony, giving a few strums, before settling on a chair outside and kicking his feet up on the railing.
Yes, this would do nicely.
Jack.. Wasn’t actually hunting, not tonight. He hadn’t been, as of late- sneaking off to Nick’s room to get a bit of company now and again, coupled with ‘terrorizing’ the poor man, well.. It’d been doing just fine.
At the moment, he was actually perched on the windowsill of some random citizen- he hadn’t bothered checking who, it didn’t matter- and peering into the window to a bedroom across the way. This house was his target- a doctor lived there with his wife, and it seemed that this particular fellow had taken a vested interest in the bobby’s investigation of the ‘escape’ of Foggy Jack.
Irritating, to say the least. Those doctors gave him the heebie-jeebies.
He’d been there for.. Oh, three hours? It was about three hours when he finally noticed something to break the monotony- hell, the doctor hadn’t even come home yet, all he’d seen was the wife folding laundry and watching the late-night run of Uncle Jack’s show- and it was.. Well, at first he thought he was hallucinating. It wasn’t the first time.
But as the song trailed off, he noted that it was different from recordings. It was as if Nick was playing his guitar right out into the open night air, something like a ballad version of When You’re Gone.
Surely Nick wasn’t playing outside at this hour. Though he tried to ignore it- probably just some other musician practicing- it kept going.. And his curiosity got the better of him.
Sighing, he slid down from the window, dissolving into his usual mist before even touching the ground.
If it was Nick, he’d be rather cross. At the same time, it was definitely a first for him to be doing something like this, and he wondered to what end it was.
When Nick noticed the fog rolling up the streets, converging into a larger cloud as it got closer to his house, he smiled grimly. It had worked- and he wasn’t actually sure how Jack would react to such a summons, as odd as it was. But he needed help- and of all the times Jack had offered, well, he surely wouldn’t be that put off.
He closed his eyes, now crooning the words to his song softly as he felt the fog push up towards his balcony.
“When you’re gone… Baby, it’s a long way home.” He could feel a presence behind him now, but he didn’t bother stopping his playing. It was near the end, anyway.
“Baby, it’s a long way home.”
He felt a hand on his shoulder as he finished the tune, and lolled his head back to open his eyes and grin up at Jack. The magician was quiet- looked rather neutral, but curiosity glinted in his eyes.
“A wonderful performance as always.” “Why, thank you.” “But I must ask.. It’s nearly midnight, most of the good folk have gone to bed or out to their activities of the night. Why haven’t you?” “I’m glad you asked!” Nick beamed, swinging his legs down and standing up as he grabbed Jack’s arm and dragged him inside- not that there was much resistance.
“I have to write a new song. And I’m having a lot of trouble!” “You sound delighted about that.” Nick huffed, setting his guitar down and turning to cross his arms with an irritated frown. Jack merely tilted his head, still not entirely sure where he came into play.
“Well! You’ve helped me before.” “Ah, so it’s like that?”
The way the word was murmured shot a shiver up his spine, and Nick held his hands out placatingly as a cruel smile spread across the magician’s face.
“No! No, it’s not, you big bully. Godsakes.” “Well, do explain.” Nick sighed, stepping over to his bed and flopping to sit on the edge- and, when Jack didn’t move, he patted the spot next to him. There was a brief hesitation before he settled down, hands resting on his lap as he watched Nick almost warily.
“I need a favor.” “A favor.” “Yes. I know you get all excited about- about making me laugh, but I hardly ever get to see you laugh. And I think it would make for a great inspiration if you’d let me have my own fun, for once.” Jack’s face reddened considerably, even if Nick could only peek at the spaces around the edges. He shifted, bringing a knee up onto the bed so that he was facing the magician and leaned forward while clasping his hands together earnestly.
“Please! It’d be a big help, really.” “I..” “And you can- you can have your fun later, once I’m done. Okay?” Jack raised an eyebrow. “No strings attached?” “Well- I mean- oh, don’t be mean. You know what I meant.” “Mmh. I suppose if it’s such a big help..” He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose for a moment before nodding in agreement. Nick clapped once, already excited. “Perfect! Okay, perfect. Here, you lay down, let me get my pad.” Jack may well have just up and died, with how heavily his blush was- but he complied, laying back on the bed awkwardly before covering his face and exhaling. Nick had scampered over to his desk and ripped the last page off again, completely trashing his original ideas and bringing over the blank paper and pencil to set on his nightstand.
“.. It’s not going to be very comfortable there. Here, up you go.” As he was pulled into a more comfortable position- laying so that he was propped up on pillows instead of flat on the mattress- he was silent. Nick paused for a moment before scrambling to sit on his legs, suddenly rather aware of how awkward the situation could become if he didn’t pull this off perfectly.
“.. And the mask?” “Oh no. Not taking it off.” “Jacky…” The magician peeked through his fingers, watching how Nick’s face fell and his eyes shined. Ooh, he was getting good at those puppy eyes.
He deflated, hooking his fingers around the edges and wiggling it off carefully. The night air felt cold on his exposed skin- especially with how fiery it was from the flustered state he was in.
“There. Happy?” “Absolutely!” Nick’s smile was back, and he laced his fingers together, stretching them a bit before wiggling them a few times- Jack had to bite back a giggle of anticipation- to get warmed up.
“Alright. Don’t cover your face again, okay? I need to see you smile!” “God.” As his palms pressed to the magician’s sides, he yelped at the immediate slam of arms that nearly locked him in place.
“Woah there, Jackaboy- hey, you’ve only gone and trapped me!” “Well- I can’t- aha!”
His fingers curled slightly, and even with his jacket to protect him, the magician had to lock his jaw to keep the tingles that spread across his torso from affecting him too much.
“Come on, you silly boy.. Lift your arms up.” “I can’t if you- if you keep- doing that!” “Doing whaaaat?” The teasing! The tone! He hated it- but as skilled fingers began kneading at his sides, he couldn’t voice any of that. He pressed his arms down a bit harder, jerking as Nick’s hands slid down to squeeze his hips experimentally.
“Gosh, you’re such a baby about it. With all your big talk about how sensitive I am, I thought you wouldn’t be half so bad..” Nick tsked, pulling back for a moment before pushing his hands underneath the jacket and clawing at his stomach. Jack nearly had a heart attack right there, hands flying up to his mouth to stifle the sudden squeak as he squirmed.
“But that’s not right at all! You’re just as ticklish as me, aren’t you? God, what a hoot.” This was it. This was his funeral.
“Imagine if the constables caught wind. Foggy Jack, menace to society- and all you have to do to reduce him to a pile of fluff and giggles is a little tickling.” “Fuck ohohoff!” “Ooh, swears. So scary.” Nick was careful as he pulled one hand out to start undoing buttons- the jacket was soon pushed aside, and he grinned as he ducked his head down. One hand locked on each side, squeezing over and over as his face pressed against the magician’s stomach- and though he didn’t yet do much other than that, the hot breath he could feel through his shirt made Jack buck up in an attempt to throw him off.
“Hold still! Squirmy wormy, squirmy Jacky, my gosh!” “Faha- Fuhuck you-” “Oh, quit the swearing. I’m not going to stop.” His hands drifted up, nails easily drilling against ribs and finally coaxing out a howl of laughter as Jack threw his head back against the pillows. Accompanying this was an even more infuriating sound- a soft ‘oooomnomnomnom’ as he nibbled at Jack’s shirt- and the slight biting feeling only earned more laughter that had now reached a much higher pitch than he’d ever admit.
“Jeez, no wonder Virge likes this snack..” Though he heard the words, he had no time to process them- not now that Nick had deftly undone his dress shirt and buried his face against him, blowing a raspberry square in the middle of his stomach. “NooOOHOHO- AHAHA- NIHIHIHIIIIHIHICK!! NOT THE- THEEHEE-” “Oooooh, yes! That’s perfect, Jacky.” Though he had started pushing at Nick’s shoulders, the musician merely chuckled and pushed his hands up- and from how he started kneading his fingers into Jack’s underarms, the shocks it sent up his arms drained his strength almost completely.
“Tickle-tickle-tickle… Oh, this is rich. No wonder you like doing this.” “Nihihick- plehease-” “Pleeease what? You volunteered.” “Noho! I didn’t- ahAHAHA!” Another raspberry. If he’d been able to form a coherent thought, he’d be thinking about how awful that mustache of Nick’s was for such an endeavor- the way it brushed against his stomach sent shivers across his body and left him breathless from the laughter.
Nick hummed a little as he looked up, reveling in the fruits of his labor for a moment and relishing in the squeals of laughter that now poured from Jack’s smiling mouth. It really was inspiring- the way he thrashed about and laughed as though he were witness to the funniest joke on the planet.. One that Nick had…
That was it!
Nick rolled off of him abruptly, seizing the pad and pencil from where he’d landed on the floor. Jack was still giggling softly, gasping for breath as he opened his eyes and blinked- a disappearing act from Lightbearer was.. Definitely unexpected.
But he heard humming beside the bed, and after fixing his shirt, he peered over the edge to see the musician scribbling on his pad of paper, occasionally pausing to tap the eraser to get a beat before resuming.
He was only the slightest bit disappointed. As he made to sit up, though, Nick looked up- then huffed, standing once again and pushing him back down.
“Oh no, I’m not done with you yet, mister. This is a full song, not just one verse!” Shit. “Now, Nick- really, it can’t be that hard to-” “It is! Now hold still. Wait- I’ve an idea.”
He got on his knees, gesturing for a moment before finding his words.
“Roll onto your stomach. Hug a pillow if that helps.” He complied, and though many spots were now protected by the bed, he had a funny feeling he was going to hate whatever was happening- of course, this was only strengthened when Nick turned his back and settled to sit on his knees. He maneuvered in such a way that he could sit criss-cross, pulling Jack’s feet through his legs and yanking his shoes off with ease.
Oh no.
“Nick- come on, this is getting ridiculous..” “Not a peep! I don’t want any protest, I’ve got to focus!”
Nick hummed the part he was thinking of as Jack buried his face in a pillow- before, of course, using the eraser end of his pencil to poke rapidly at the magician’s feet. The steady stream of giggles he earned was muffled into a pillow- but it seemed like enough, and he started writing again for a moment before repeating his actions. Jack balled up a fist and slammed it against the bed a few times, his legs screaming that he kick but wholly unable to due to their position.
“Nihihick- come on, aren’t you done yet?” “Don’t be impatient! Hey, you ought to be flattered-” He paused, now poking between each foot with every word and relishing in the flurry of flustered snickers he earned-
“You’re~my~muse~for~this~song! Isn’t that exciting?” “Ihi- eheheh- I suppose…” “Hey, if this works, maybe we can try more often! God knows with that album I’m supposed to have coming up…”
A thrill shot up through his stomach, and Jack grasped at the pillow he was strangling to the point where he was certain it would rip. “I didn’t agreehee to ahahany such thing!!” “But you would! Or..” Nick swung around, now facing him properly and giving him a brief break-
“I can convince you~.” Jack’s eyes widened and he opened his mouth to protest- only to have a sudden wave of giggles come out instead, as Nick slipped his hands under his jacket and shirt to flutter his nails up and down the magician’s back and sides.
“Nohoho- you’re awful! Ahahawful!” “Oh, you love me.” “I hahahate ihihihihit!” Nick laughed along with him for a moment before landing a final pinch on one side and grabbing his notes again. Jack grumbled into his pillow, taking deep breaths to try and calm down. Of all the things Nick could’ve asked him to do…
But soon, they’d both gone quiet, and the scratching of pencil to paper began to slow- more pauses, more tapping, slight grumbling. Jack risked a peek over his shoulder, noting the irritated expression that Nick had.
“.. Something wrong?” “Well.. This next part. It’s less.. I need that giddy feeling. And it’s not coming.” Jack squirmed his way back onto his back and sat up, pulling his legs out from under Nick- with the lack of protest he must be pretty focused.
“That giddy feeling?” “Yeah. Like- when you take Joy for the first time in… No, that’s not quite it.” He hummed again, tapping the pencil on paper before groaning and shaking his head.
“Smilin’ like a little child, in a candy store.. Like that. Sort of.” Jack was content to watch, the look of focus combined with aggravation endlessly fascinating- and when the expression popped to a surprised look, his eyes widened. Surely not again…
“I’ve got it! I know.” And he tossed the pad onto the nightstand again before turning to Jack- this time, he was determined. Jack winced, a smile already tugging at his lips- but he was taken aback when Nick instead raised his arms above his head. “Tickle me!” “.. What?” “Well, it would work! It has before. That giddy feeling- you’re pretty good at getting it when you want.”
A more menacing smile now found its way onto his face, though a fairly endeared one. Of course, this was much more his speed…
Though Nick had seemed determined at first, that quickly melted into nervous giggles as Jack’s hands pushed under his shirt, nails already scratching steadily at his sides. His arms swayed, wanting to come down from where he held them but staying up.. For now.
“Well, I must say, I greatly prefer this to your horrible torture. We should’ve started here, instead.” “Ghhheheh- thahat’s not- how it works!” “Well, it should be.” He chuckled quietly, slowly making his way up Nick’s torso and almost admiring his dedication- even when his ribs were the target of light squeezes, he kept up, though he’d folded at his elbows to clasp his hands behind his head as he trembled.
“You- ha!- fucking, you’re a buhuhuhullyheehee…” “Isn’t that what you asked for? Please, Mr. Lightbearer, do clarify. You wanted me to tickle you, so I am- what’s the problem?” “Ghhhhheheheh…” Jack paused for a moment, hands resting on his ribs, before abruptly pushing up and drilling into his underarms. Nick yelped before squealing out more laughter, arms falling back down and locking as he covered his face. Judging by how he swayed, he’d probably fall if he wasn’t careful- so Jack carefully guided him to lay down, keeping at his torment the entire time.
“Go on, uncover your face- I’ve barely even picked up the pace…”
Nick jolted, then gasped through his laughter and finally pushed at Jack’s hands.
“Thahat’s- stooohohop, I neeheed to write!” “Aww.. Do I have to?” Jack pouted, but finally let go when Nick squeezed his arms down again.
“Yehehehehes!! Jack!” “Oh, fine.” He paused. “You actually have trapped my hands, though. Ease up.” Nick took a few deep breaths, slowly releasing his arms- squeaking at a final squeeze from Jack before he was released properly. Grabbing his notepad, he shook his hands out to try and get rid of the shakiness before bringing his knees up so he could write again.
“Cover your face… Hm- hmhmmmm.. Mmh, mmhmmmmm…” Jack tilted his head, trying to peek at the writing and huffing when he was swatted away. “I’m not done! No looking.” “Are you using my words?” “No- well, sort of. You’ll see.” He kept humming a few times before shifting so that his back was to Jack.
“.. Hey, do it again. But not so fast. I’m trying to nail the chorus.” “Do what?” “What do you think, you bully?” Jack snorted, settling on tracing his nails up and down Nick’s back- enough to earn a few snickers, and keep him content as he wrote. “What an effort, for a single song.” “You have no idea.” “Mmh, I think I have some. I’ve watched you write the whole thing.” “Yeah, well.. Shhh.” More humming- and quite a few giggles later- he finally set the pad down and pushed Jack’s hands away.
“Okay. That’s the first draft.” “Draft, are you serious?” “Well, I have to make sure it’s perfect!” Nick stretched, though he kept an eye on Jack- of course, the bastard’s hands twitched towards him, but he held himself back well enough. “It’s late. The best thing for me is to sleep on it. That’s why I write so late, so that I wake up with a little inspiration left over.” “Mmh, I see.” He faceplanted on the bed, reaching up to work off his wig; it was a mess, anyways, so it didn’t matter if he just threw it on the floor for later. Jack simply sat where he was, unsure if he was now overstaying his welcome.
“.. Lay down. Dork. You’re probably just as exhausted as me. It’s fine.” Though he hesitated for a long moment, he eventually settled next to Nick- the blush was back in full, but Nick didn’t seem to care. He slung an arm over the magician’s waist, already drifting off himself. Jack sighed softly, now not holding back the urge to gently comb his fingers through Nick’s hair.
“.. Good night, Nick.” “Mmnh, nighty night. Don’t run off.” It was the last request he had- and though he had other places to be, things to do.. Jack smiled fondly at the musician that now snored next to him. He was perfectly happy to wait.
Anon asked: just found your blog and let me just say 10/10! the parenting headcanons*chef's kiss*…. could you please create headcanons on how style 5 would treat their pregnant s/o? thanks!!!!
I’m so glad you liked my blog so much<33and yes don’t the boys as dads make you go soft🥺
Pregnant S/O (Style 5)
Another long post~
Haru
Tumblr media
Confused boy™️
Planned or unplanned he’s still surprised and confused when you tell him
Internally, he’s panicking
He doesn’t have any siblings either so he never got to experience pregnancy
He’ll probably think that it’s best to give you space and let you handle it
But oh no that was a big mistake on his part
He very quickly realizes just how much you need him to be there for you (it’s not like he purposely distanced himself, he was just scared that he would interfere in a way)
You tell him it’s no such thing and that’s when Haru will secretly start his little research and reading up on pregnancy
From then on he’s by your side 100% anyone who is giving you dirty looks can f*** off Haru ain’t having none of that. he’s giving them his silent death stares
He’ll be holding your hair back and gently caressing your back on those mornings when you’re over the toilet <3
Rushes by your side faster than he strips off for water when you call out to him or need him for anything
He’s very nervous and awkward when touching your belly it’s like an alien to him
But when you take his hand and slowly bring it to rest on your tummy, he’ll ease
Might say a few words to his baby which just makes you go 😣🥺😍🥰
He’ll mentally prepare himself and will still be internally panicking especially when the time is near
Of course he would never show it to you tho he wants to be there for you and your wall of support he can’t let you know that he’s also panicking
But all his worries suddenly wash away once his child is finally given to him in his arms and he looks onto them with a little smile, but his eyes are absolutely bursting with love❤️
Makoto
Tumblr media
Aww Makoto is going to be a bit doting on your pregnancy
I mean he was probably still fairly young himself when his own mother was pregnant with twins, but he probably watched his father and how he took care of Mama Tachibana
Folks lemme tell you. Mama and Papa Tachibana raised this man RIGHT
You might think that Makoto would freak out a lot during pregnancy, which is only half right
He’ll be so so so so gentle around you, making sure you eat enough food, get enough sleep, etc.
Will even massage your swollen feat and ankles🥺
He even gives into your cravings haha he just wants you to be as comfortable as possible <3
He loves putting his hand on your belly and talking to his baby, saying sweet things and having conversations, even if the baby isn’t born yet, it’s a way for him to start bonding with his child and an indirect way of letting you know how much he loves and appreciates you and won’t ever leave your side 🥺❤️
He’s very careful and gentle all throughout the 9 months, but he does have his moments when he freaks out a bit
Like when you think th water broke and then when the water ACTUALLY broke
He’s still fully prepared tho, he created a bag with all the essentials waiting by the doorway longgg ago
The whole time he’s telling you what a great job you’re doing and how amazing you are, and so on 😣💘
Once Makoto actually gets to hold his child, the world around him stops and it’s like falling in love all over again but now it’s x2 with you and his own little baby ❤️
Whatta MAN take notes.
Nagisa
Tumblr media
Jumping up and down with excitement when you tell him 😆
Ladies and Gents, he’s got this one in the bag.
Absolutely giving into all your cravings, even offering his own sweets and chocolate from his secret candy stash
Foot rubs, leg rubs, back rubs, he’s ready to do it ALL to make you happy and relaxed
He’s going to his absolute BEST to make himself less burdening on you because usually you have to be the one take care of him
So he’s going to want to take care of the cooking, cleaning, chores, etc.
The cooking turns out to be a disaster...mostly because he adds more of the stuff he thinks is good and doesn’t exactly follow the recipe...
But atleast the cleaning isn’t all so bad 🥺
Totally so patient with you. He’s there when those pregnancy hormones kick in and those emotions are let lose
Cradles your belly when you guys are in bed 🥺
he gets SO excited when he feels the baby kick like SOOOO excited
“WOAH...DID YOU FEEL THAT? HUH (NAME)-CHAN?THE BABY KICKED”
*goes back to having his little conversations with the baby to feel it kick again*
So yeah Nagisa’s always calling up Rei to fill him up on EVERYTHING
Anywayss when the baby is actually born, all of Nagisa’s excitement will die down to pure softness as he just looks at his little bundle of joy with love with a warm smile❤️
Rei
Tumblr media
Rei is actually very happy when you tell him and softly kisses your forehead
Not even a minute passes where he’s now standing and pushing up his glasses, ready to prepare himself for what’s to come
Reads up ALL about pregnancy like EVERYTHING
The cravings, the mood swings, the morning sickness
He’s even read up all potential complications and situations you can be put in
Physically the guy is ALL prepared for when the water breaks at any given moment...like Makoto he’s got a bag ready and everything
Aww he literally goes THE EXTRA mile for you. Like buying for you stuff that isn’t really needed during a pregnancy but great to have nonetheless.
He’s very strict when it comes to how you eat and sleep tho
He just wants what’s best for BOTH the baby and you <3
That means he’s got diets planned out, alternatives for unhealthy cravings, making sure you get a full 7-8 hours of sleep daily.
Sometimes you gotta be the one to tell this man to chill out It’s like he’s the one pregnant
But in all honesty, you really do appreciate it, many men would sadly never go this far to taking care of a pregnant s/o so you are luckyyy 💘
Although Rei did EXTENSIVE amount of research, nothing actually prepared him mentally for when the water actually broke...
All the details aside, when he finally holds his baby in his arms, all of Rei’s research and worries and everything goes completely out the window, because nothing could have ever prepared him for a moment this beautiful ❤️
Rin
Tumblr media
You got it...once you tell this shark baby about the pregnancy, he’s crying
But tears of joy as he embraces you and tells you how much he loves you and promises to be the best dad he can for his child ❤️
Protective Matsuoka has entered the chat.
Would let you do ANYTHING that seems even potentially dangerous to you or the unborn child
Takes it upon himself to do everything from cooking and cleaning to preparing baths for you and giving you massages and rubs <3
Also handles anything outside the house too like groceries and shopping <3
“Nah Nah babe, don’t you worry, I got this” *kiss*
Warms your heart ❤️
He lends you his body pillow too
Nights where he’s gently laying his head on your tummy, talking to the baby and telling him a lot about the world outside 🥺
Tells the baby that he’s gonna show them a sight that they’ve never seen
You go heart squeeze 😣
Gets super excited when he feels a kick and omg it’s all just cuteness overload I can’t even explain it🥰
You tell him to stop crying so much or else the baby is gonna catch on
Still in tears when he his little one his born and in his arms, not that you aren’t moved to tears either.
Just a precious moment for him with his precious child and precious s/o, a perfect little family ❤️
PART FOUR
“Ouch! Watch it, Yara! You’re stabbing me!”
Yara released her grip from the striped material of your sweater, letting it fall back down against your torso.
“I’m sorry… Is your personal tailoring experience not luxurious enough? Did you want some sparkling water? Some Crystal Light, perhaps?” The petite girl quipped, eyes narrowing.
You pressed your lips together, holding back the snarky remark that was wanting to come out from between them. You really weren’t in any position to complain. Yara had gone to the trouble of coming up with both your and Jungkook’s costumes, not to mention the fact that she was missing her scheduled viewing of Saved By The Bell just to help you get ready — truly honorable act on her part.
Shutting the pair of scissors with a sharp snip, your best friend placed them down onto the bathroom sink decisively, clearly satisfied with the holes she had carved into your oversized red and green sweater.
“What do you think? I can smear some more brown eyeshadow on the sweater if you want.”
Turning towards the mirror, you let your eyes fall over Yara’s handwork.
When Yara said you were going to be Freddie Krueger you should have expected that there would be no half-assing on her part. Jungkook was right in his assessment that the two of you were similar. Yara, although sometimes indolent, was absolutely unstoppable when she set her mind to something.
“It looks great. You went above and beyond as always.” You flashed her reflection a smile.
Reaching for the hat that sat on the counter, Yara plopped it onto your head, a satisfied grin finding her as she took in the completed look.
“So are you ready?” She inquired. “Tonight’s the big night. You nervous?”
“A little…” You confessed, shrugging. At your words, Yara adjusted your hat slightly.
“Don’t be. We went over the game plan last night, remember?”
Keeping still until your best friend’s creative vision for your hat was completed, you let out a sigh.
“Yeah.”
It should be easy; smile, hang onto Jungkook’s arm as if he was your life support, and be sure to kiss him somewhere everyone could see. Piece of cake. Totally.
Sensing a weight behind your tone, Yara offered you an encouraging smile, her hands finding yours.
“You’re gonna have a totally kick-ass time, I’m sure.” She enthused.
“As long as Jungkook doesn’t sneak off to go bang his ex and leave me alone. I don’t know anyone who is gonna be there.” You sulked, before tapping a finger against your chin in contemplation. “Then again, it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever. If he and Kiri get back together, I can finally stop pretending to date him.”
At your words, Yara’s eyebrows furrowed as if to tell you something you had said hadn’t sat well with her. Before she got the chance to express what that was, however, a loud series of knocks rang out.
“Speak of the devil and he shall appear.” You mused dryly causing Yara to laugh.
“I’ll go let him in, you stay here and try on the socks.” She ordered as she walked out, slamming the bathroom door behind her, leaving you without a choice.
You were curious however, ears tuned into the greeting that was just outside the door as Jungkook came in. Slipping on one of the socks, you brought it up to your knee, tugging at the fabric until it was no longer bunching around your ankle.
“What the hell? You cropped the shirt yourself, didn’t you? I told you I was gonna cut it for you.”
“Chill out. What’s your damage? I’m pretty sure I’m allowed to cut my own shirt.”
“Yeah, nice going, dipshit. It’s fucking crooked!”
You let out a sigh.
Your best friend and fake boyfriend could not be left unattended for even a minute without needing you to play referee, it seemed.
Pushing the bathroom door open, you poked your head out, “Children, children, let’s play nice–”
Jungkook’s head turned to you, expression softening from the irritated glare he was offering Yara just moments ago. You hardly noticed, however, too captivated by what he was wearing to pay the gentle way he looked at you any mind.
He was in a cropped white jersey, the number 10 plastered across his chest in blue just above the ragged seam of where the shirt ended, exposing inches of the lower half of his firm stomach, causing your face to flame.
Low on his hips was a pair of blue sweatpants, the ends of them tucked into his high top Chuck Taylor’s that were similar, if not the same, to the pair you had been planning on wearing.
Johnny Depp would surely be proud of Jungkook’s rendition of Glen Lantz, you decided. He even wore the same pair of silver headphones around his neck.
You cleared your throat, finally pulling your eyes away from your pretend lover’s torso.
“Wow… that’s crooked.”
“Hah! Told you.” Yara pressed, pleased at your assessment.
“Remind me why I put up with the two of you again?” Jungkook frowned, crossing his arms over his chest, unaware of the way it caused his already short shirt to ride up further.
Pulling yourself from the bathroom altogether, you walked over to the couch, plopping down onto it as you began to put on your other sock.
“Sick costume, nerd.” Jungkook praised, eyes fixated on you as you moved. “You’d make a hot serial killer.”
“Yeah, well, don’t cream your pants.” You teased, flashing him a grin.
“I can’t promise anything tonight. I’m a frisky drunk.” He winked back, causing you to roll your eyes.
“Ugh, barf me out. You’re the first on my list when I finally crack and go full homicidal.” You informed him, causing him to chuckle.
“Pleasure and pain. You really know how to get me going, Y/N.”
Yara was leaning up against the kitchen counter, quietly watching the two of you with increasing intrigue. Taking in the way the sides of your eyes creased in amusement as you continued your banter with your so-called fake boyfriend, she suppressed a smirk.
“Well…” Yara finally spoke up, a sly look on her face, “as endearing as I find your warped, semi-abusive way of flirting with one another... I have a show to catch so if you both could just hurry it up—”
“Woah, woah, woah, we’re not flirting.”
“Get real, as if I’d be flirting with him.”
Yara could only laugh at the way you both denied her accusation immediately, words overlapping with one another in unison.
“Whatever. I’ve got fake blood in the bathroom. Jungkook follow me.” She brushed the two of you off.
The costumed boy flashed you a funny look before ultimately trailing after your best friend.
Chewing on your bottom lip in silent contemplation, you let yourself ponder on your best friend’s words.
That wasn’t flirting, was it? No, that was just you and Jungkook’s usual playful banter. Sure, maybe the two of you had gotten more comfortable with one another as the days have ticked by, but it wasn’t as if it was anything more than that, right?
Lately, you had been catching yourself growing somewhat excited about seeing Jungkook, even though you saw him nearly every day. Somehow having the messy-haired boy in your life had become routine.
Having Jungkook by your side felt normal as if you wouldn’t mind it if things were always this way. And that scared you.
Shaking your head, you began to put on your shoes, tying up your laces solemnly.
The moment you held your event and Jungkook and Kiri were back together, things would go back to the way they were before. You didn’t want Jungkook to be someone you were going to miss, but it seemed like with every lopsided grin he threw at you he was cementing himself into your life more and more.
This business venture of yours was looking out to be more costly than you initially anticipated.
But as Jungkook and Yara walked out of the bathroom chatting excitedly, Yara’s hands stained and Jungkook’s jersey now smeared with fake blood, you couldn’t help but feel like you’d be willing to pay the price if it meant that this warm feeling in your chest would last just a little while longer.
┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Jungkook asked you, hand gripping yours tighter.
You tried your best to meet his eyes. It was difficult considering how dimly lit the room was. Fitting though, considering this party was Halloween themed.
“Yes. You’ve asked me that four times now.” You told him loudly, trying to be heard over the loud sound of Michael Jackson’s Thriller playing throughout the house.
“I dunno, you’re not saying anything. It’s, like, freaking me out.” He admitted.
“I’m just… observing.”
“Observing what?”
He watched as your stare fixated itself on the beer pong tournament that was occurring across the room, excited shouts coming from several people as one of Jungkook’s brothers scored a point.
“Gorillas.” You said, finally. “In their natural habitat.”
Jungkook laughed, enjoying the way your nose scrunched up at them.
“Hey now, did we say before we got here?” He tutted disapprovingly, waging a finger at you. You followed the digit with the frown.
“Yeah, yeah, I promised no judging the common folk. This is how the intellectually lesser entertain themselves, I remember.” You sighed out, gaze flicking up to catch the amusement in Jungkook’s eyes.
The costumed boy nudged his shoulder into yours; he liked it when you joked around with him like this. It made him feel like you were comfortable around him and that you might even enjoy his company.
“Do you know what you need?” He began happily.
“I do not but my answer is already no.”
“A drink.” He continued, ignoring you.
Suddenly, you were yanked forward, Jungkook leading you by the hand towards where you assumed the drinks were.
You hadn’t been at the party for very long, but already the social interaction had exhausted you. Jungkook was far more popular than you had previously concluded; the two of you could hardly take two steps before running into someone who wanted to say hello to the frat boy attached to you.
It was daunting in a sense – the concept that every person that came up to him was going to leave the interaction with the impression that you were Jungkook’s girlfriend. Perhaps guilt wasn’t the right word, but something about the way the party’s attendees glanced down at yours and Jungkook’s intertwined hands caused your stomach to flip and neck to grow hot.
So you kept to yourself mainly, letting your socially confident boyfriend do all the talking. You didn’t mind, really; it was somewhat remarkable the way Jungkook could handle himself in a social situation. He had a way of acting like every person that stopped to chat was important.
As Jungkook and you made your way into the large fraternity house’s kitchen, you wondered if it wasn’t acting at all and if he was just that nice of a person.
“Righteous costume, JK!” A disembodied voice called out from somewhere, clearly directed at Jungkook.
You hardly had time to decipher where the voice had come from before an outrageously good looking boy draped in a white toga came forward, pulling Jungkook into a hug.
“You finally cut your hair. Looking good, Tae.” Jungkook laughed back, patting the handsome man’s back affectionately.
You watched their interaction with interest. This wasn’t acting, as far as you knew. Judging by the way Jungkook’s laugh has grown higher in pitch, something you had noticed occurred when he was genuinely happy, you knew you were witnessing genuine friendship, not just polite socializing.
“And who is this lovely lady who, might I add, looks killer? Pun totally intended.” The model man mused, eyes flashing your way.
You felt heat prickle at your cheeks.
“Taehyung, this is my girlfriend Y/N, Y/N this is Kim Taehyung. He’s head of our finance committee.” Jungkook introduced the two of you, causing your eyes to grow wide.
So this was the guy Jungkook had told you about. The guy who could help you throw your event.
Taehyung let out a scoff, “Seriously? That’s how you introduce me? The finance guy? I’m also your favorite brother, could’ve opened up with that one.”
“Taehyung’s my Big. He’s taken me under his wing or whatever.” Jungkook explained, running a hand through his dark hair.
A nervous giggle escaped you, taking Taehyung’s extended hand into yours to greet.
“Nice to finally meet you, Y/N. I’ve heard a lot about you.” The mulleted man grinned, causing one of your eyebrows to quirk up in surprise.
“You have?”
Taehyung put his hands up defensively, not noticing the way Jungkook’s expression had fallen beside him, “All good things, don’t worry. The kid talks about you nonstop—”
“Hey! So Y/N has been thinking about throwing an event here on campus, isn’t that right, babe?” Jungkook interrupted suddenly.
The arrival of the new pet name caught you off guard for a moment, before remembering that you and Jungkook were meant to be a couple after all.
“Oh yeah, Jungkook mentioned something like that to me. Tell me about it.” Taehyung said.
You stood silent for a moment, realizing that this moment was the one you had been anticipating all week long.
Relaxing your shoulders, you grinned at him.
It was now or never.
“Yeah! So the event is called STEM for FEM. I’ve got all kinds of games and pamphlets prepared. It’s basically meant to show girls that no matter what people think, there are in fact opportunities for us in the more traditionally male-dominated fields. It may be a steep road, but it’s one worth taking. And they’re not alone. There are programs out there that girls can reach out to. They offer all kinds of support; emotional, educational, financial—“
Jungkook reached for a cooler that sat by his feet, pulling out a beer. You didn’t need him for this. This was precisely what he had watched you practice into the mirror over and over; you were ready.
Popping open the can, he took a small sip, a small smile creeping on his face as he watched the way the fire in your eyes spread, your pretty lips wrapping around the words that you carried in your heart wherever you went.
“That’s radical, girl. It sounds like you’re really passionate about this stuff, huh?”
Jungkook caught Taehyung’s reply once he walked back over to you guys. He had gone off to make you a drink, figuring that cranberry juice and vodka would ease any sales pitch nerves you might have.
“Yeah, I am.” You smiled. “I’m a biology major myself.”
You tore your eyes away from the blond boy to take the red solo cup he was offering. Bringing the cup up to your nose, you sniffed it experimentally.
“Do you have a sponsor?”
You were grateful that you hadn’t taken a sip of your drink yet as had any liquid been inside your mouth you surely would have choked on it.
“Oh, uh! Not yet!” You squeaked out, causing Jungkook to fight down a chuckle.
“Because Beta Tau Sigma happens to be under our campus philanthropy quota and we’d love to support a cause like yours.” Taehyung offered, causing your heart to soar.
“Really?” You gaped.
“Sure! Just swing by anytime this week and I’m sure we can work out the details.
This was happening. The event you had poured your absolute heart and soul into planning was actually going to happen… holy shit.
“Wow, that’s just… wow!” You replied, breathlessly. “Thank you! Thank you so much, seriously. I can’t even begin to thank you enough…”
Taehyung shook his head, clearly amused, “No need to thank me, it’s a worthy cause. Besides, think of it as a thank you.”
“A thank you? For what?”
“For dating my brother. You’re the reason he comes home every night grinning like an idiot after all.” He grinned cheesily.
A smile broke out onto your face despite yourself, but the good atmosphere didn’t last for long, as a hand finding yours caught your attention.
“Alright, alright, enough sappy shit.” Jungkook urged, cheeks tinted ever so slightly pink.
Much to the blushing boy’s chagrin, Taehyung reached over to rustle Jungkook’s long looks.
“I’m just teasing.” The blond laughed. “By the way, any chance you’ve seen Hobi?”
“No, why?”
“Dude is totally wasted. Heard someone say he was gonna jump off the roof into the pool.”
“The house doesn’t have a pool?” Jungkook blinked.
Taehyung flashed him a look as if to say ‘exactly.’
“Anyway, it was nice meeting you, Y/N. We’ll talk soon, yeah?” Taehyung asked.
“Absolutely.” You nodded.
“See ya later, man!” Taehyung called out through a crooked smile before slipping back into the crowd of people that lay just beyond the kitchen.
An excited squeal erupted from you, your hands reaching out towards Jungkook as he reciprocated your enthusiasm and embraced you in an elevated hug.
You let out a laugh, carefully holding onto the cup in your hand so as not to spill it before he set you back down.
“You did it!” He cheered.
“We did it.” You corrected.
“I didn’t do anything?” Jungkook looked at you in bewilderment.
You shook your head, “Not true. I would have never met Taehyung if it weren’t for you. Thank you, meathead.”
Jungkook looked at you warmly for a moment, knowing that despite the cruel nickname, your sincerity was genuine.
“Cheers, nerd. To a deal well done.” Jungkook said decidedly, holding out his beer.
Bumping your cup into his can, you took a swig of your drink, grimacing as the overwhelming taste of vodka made its way down your throat.
“Taehyung was awesome.” You began once you had downed a few more sips of the liquid poison. “I don’t know why I was expecting some ape-like barbarian.”
“Probably because of those gorillas you just saw over at the beer pong table.” Jungkook joked. “Yeah, Tae’s great. He’s a Legacy too, so everybody here loves him.”
You stared at him blankly, clearly not understanding the term.
Jungkook sighed, “I mean he comes from a long family of Beta Tau Sigma alumnae. His older brother Seokjin graduated last year—”
“Wait, Seokjin? You don’t mean… Kim Seokjin… our lab professor?” You furrowed your eyebrows.
“Yep.”
“No way! But he’s so…” Your eyebrows furrowed, struggling for the right word.
“Smart?” Jungkook assumed flatly.
You fought back a smile, “I was not gonna say that.”
“Mhm, I’m so sure.”
“Anyway,” You smiled, poking a finger into Jungkook’s chest, “I had no clue you liked me so much.”
“What do you mean?”
“You talk about me? I’m the reason you come home grinning every night?” You recalled Taehyung’s words.
You watched in amusement as Jungkook visibly tensed.
“W-Well, duh. You’re my fake girlfriend, I mean, it would be weird if I didn’t do any of those things...” Jungkook defended, eyes narrowing at you suddenly. “Quit gloating.”
“I’m not gloating.” You smirked.
“Yes, you are. I can see it in your face. You’re a gloater.” He said decidedly, moving to make himself a drink.
“How very dare you! I am nothing of the sort.”
“Admit it, Y/N. You relish in my misfortune.” He poured some cranberry juice into a cup, clearly moving to recreate your drink.
“The fact that I relish in your misfortune has nothing to do with this.” You waved off quickly, sending the two of you into giggles.
You somehow managed to down your cup, flashing Jungkook a grateful smile as he began to make you a new one.
You were admiring the way Jungkook’s shoulders filled out his jersey when another voice made itself known, pushing its way into the kitchen.
“Kookie, is that you?”
It was Kiri. The way Jungkook jerked around immediately, eyes as wide as saucers, told you that much.
Turning to where Jungkook’s eyes were fixated, you came to find a tall and leather-clad girl, her curled hair unmoving as she strutted forward. You couldn’t hear anything over the hum of the music playing throughout the house but you’d imagined you would hear the sound of her bright red heels rapping against the tile floor if it were quiet.
Her top was black and off the shoulder, and it dawned on you that she was dressed as Sandy from Grease.
You watched in silence as Jungkook nodded at her, a grin on his face.
“Haven’t seen you in a while. Thought you were avoiding me.” Kiri smirked, teeth on full display.
“Avoid you? Never.” Jungkook teased.
Suddenly, a weird feeling bubbled in your stomach as you watched the two interact.
Strange. Must be the vodka.
“I’ve just been busy, I guess.” He shrugged, clearly trying to play it coy.
At his words, Kiri’s eyes flickered to you, causing you to freeze.
“So I’ve heard.” She said simply. You smiled at her awkwardly.
Clearing his throat, Jungkook jumped into action, “Y/N meet Kiri. Kiri meet Y/N, my girlfriend.”
“Y/N L/N, right? I’ve been looking forward to meeting you.” Kiri admitted, eyes shaded with something you couldn’t quite decipher.
“You, uh, have?”
“Of course!” She smiled, although it didn’t quite meet her eyes. “I like to keep tabs on all the girls in Greek life… or I guess in your case, have had Greek life in them.
You blinked.
Jungkook eyes quickly moved to you. Crap. He knew Kiri well enough to detect a catty comment from her no matter how innocently she presented it. You were smart; he was sure you had caught exactly what she was implying.
For a moment, no one said anything. Jungkook gripped his cup tighter, wondering if he should say something to ease the nearly palpable tension.
However, before he got the chance, you smiled, cocking your head to the side.
“No worries, I get it. You wanted to scope out your ex’s new girlfriend, right?”
Jungkook let out a breath, realizing that you weren’t looking for any kind of conflict.
You could tell you words pleased Kiri with the way the side of her painted lips turned upward.
“So, Jungkook told you about me. How flattering.”
“Actually, he hasn’t said a word.” You smiled.
You took a step forward; it wasn’t anything aggressive or confrontational, but it was enough to capture Jungkook’s attention.
“Let’s just say I also like to keep tabs on things involving those that go inside of me.” You lowered your voice, sending Kiri a small wink.
Jungkook must know you pretty well too because he also knew that your comment wasn’t nearly as lighthearted as you made it out to be. He fought back a grin.
Kiri straighten up suddenly, “So what are you two dressed up as? A dumb jock and dirty Waldo?”
‘Well, she’s certainly not being subtle anymore.’ Jungkook thought dryly.
“Freddie Krueger and Glen Lantz. Like from Nightmare at Elm’s Street.” Jungkook answered, no longer bothering to uphold a pleasant tone.
“Is that so? I don’t watch horror movies.” Kiri shrugged.
“I know you don’t.” He reminded her.
“So did you come alone? Or is there a Danny Zuko somewhere that you’re matching with?” You asked casually, not liking the way your insides churned every time Jungkook and Kiri spoke to one another.
“He’s over there by the booth. He’s in charge of the music.” She replied, polished finger directing you where to look.
Sure enough, across the room on an elevated platform was a DJ booth, the man who was operating the device sporting a leather jacket and greased hair.
A gasp fell through your lips as you took him in, recognizing him immediately.
“That’s—” You cut yourself off immediately, turning away from him. “...so cool! Him being a DJ and whatnot.”
Kiri nodded cautiously, clearly catching on to the way you had changed your tune suddenly.
“You know what, I think Jungkook and I are gonna head over to the dance floor. But it was really great meeting you, Kiri.” You told her, reaching for Jungkook’s hand.
Your fake boyfriend sensed your urgency and took your hand comfortably.
“Nice seeing you.” Jungkook called out to her breezily as the two of you began to walk away, not bothering to give Kiri another glance.
Your heart was pounding but you tried your best to look nonchalant, knowing Kiri was probably watching the two of you leave.
As you reached the dance floor, you allowed yourself a sparing glance around to make sure that Kiri was out of ear’s reach before you wrapped your arms around Jungkook’s neck and began to sway your hips.
Bringing your mouth to his ear, you spoke, “Kiri is dating Eunwoo.”
Jungkook sent you a look, “Yeah. I know.”
You shook your head as Jungkook’s hands found your waist, keeping up with your pace.
“You don’t understand. Eunwoo is Yara’s ex.”
“Wait– Really?”
You nodded.
“Great. So he’s banged two of my girlfriends then. I swear to god, Y/N, if he tries to get into your pants next I’m gonna kick his ass into the next decade.” Jungkook grunted. You laughed.
“I just don’t understand. I swear he was in love with Yara just last week. He used to slip love notes under our door for her, you know. I even didn’t know he was in a frat?” You frowned.
“He’s a new member. He was just initiated a little while back. Fucking prick.”
That made sense. From what you had gathered tonight, everyone within Jungkook’s fraternity seemed quite friendly with one another— it didn’t make sense that an active member would betray Jungkook like that.
“You handled that very well, by the way.” Your pretend lover spoke suddenly.
“What? Kiri? Whatever, I’ve dealt with worse girls in high school.” You shrugged easily, hand finding itself running in Jungkook’s hair.
He had mentioned once that he needed a haircut but it seems as if you had successfully managed to talk him out of it. You like his hair like this.
“She was trying to use an intimidation technique that Gamma Alpha Tau uses on possible pledges.” He explained. “I promise you she’s not always that…”
“Snarky? Judgmental? Standoffish?” You offered, quirking up a brow.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, “I just mean she’s usually better behaved than that.”
“Right. Well, either way, this is a good sign.”
“What is?”
“Her hating me. Just means she’s jealous and then we’re one step closer to closing your half of the deal.” You enthused.
“Speaking of the deal, I believe you owe me a kiss, Freddie.”
Jungkook’s words took you by surprise and as much as you wanted to wipe that slick grin off his face, you knew he was right.
Humming, you let go of his hair, moving closer so that his nose was brushed up against yours.
“Your move, meathead.” You urged, letting your bottom lip brush against his teasingly.
Pressed up against him like this, you could feel a low rumble erupt in his chest.
“You teasing me?” He mused lazily.
“Didn’t you say you liked your pleasure with some pain?”
If Jungkook had a reply, you didn’t catch it in time as his mouth found yours, distracting you from any trivial thoughts weighing you down.
Something was intoxicating about the way Jungkook kissed you; he wasn’t rushed or in any hurry, but the way his mouth moved against yours made your chest pound as you brought your fingers up to pull at his hair.
Maybe it was the alcohol, perhaps it was the sound of Rick James in the air, but when his hand found your jaw and his tongue ran itself along your bottom lip you happily obligated, whimpering as his tongue moved against yours with the same fervor as the kiss you shared on your bed.
Jungkook was trying his hardest to hold back, he really was, but with the way your fingers pulled against his scalp, he felt himself start to grow greedily, grinding his hips against yours.
A whimper left your mouth and before you could make left from right, Jungkook broke the kiss and turned you around, pressing his chest into your back.
Heat rocketed to your face as you were suddenly reminded that you were in a room full of people, kissing Jungkook like this.
Your worries were soon eased as he began to press a trail of kisses down your neck, causing you to sigh.
“Wanna blow this popsicle stand? I’ve got a bottle of Malibu in my room with our name on it.” He murmured into your neck.
For a moment, you wondered if you should say no. If Jungkook kept touching you like this, especially with alcohol in your system, there was no guarantee what you’d do.
You let out a squeak as Jungkook’s tongue found your neck, the hot muscle dancing against your skin.
Letting your eyes roll over the room, you froze as they met a familiar pair.
Kiri was stood by the DJ Booth, eyes fixated on you two, her stare cold and unmoving.
Suddenly, a feeling came over you. It felt hot and not in the nice way Jungkook had been making you feel. You hardened your stare, holding her eyes. Was this why Jungkook kissed you? Did he know Kiri was watching?
Sensing the way you had tense against him, Jungkook pulled away from your neck.
“Something wrong?”
Fine. If Jungkook wanted to put on a show for her, then you were happy to assist.
Instead of replying, you turned your head and answered with your mouth, kissing him in a way you knew Kiri wouldn’t be able to ignore.
“Let’s get outta here.” You breathed as you broke the kiss.
Jungkook’s eyes were dark, eyelids low as a positively devilish smirk crept over him.
Following him as he lead you out of the room, you couldn’t help but glance behind you, the sides of your mouth curling up as you met Kiri’s glare once more.
"y/n you were in les misérables too"
"yes I played fantine which was amazing but it hit hard you know it was very much touching
There was a time when men were kind When their voices were soft And their words inviting There was a time when love was blind And the world was a song And the song was exciting There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by When hope was high and a life worth living I dreamed, that love would never die I dreamed that Go
d would be forgiving Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used and wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they tear your hope apart As they turn your dream to shame He slept a summer by my side He filled my days with endless wonder He took my childhood in his stride But he was gone when autumn came And still, I dream he'll come to me That we will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather I had a dream my life would be So different from this hell I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"that literally just made me get tears in my eyes," James says as he points to his eyes
we laugh and talk for some time when the thing I have dreaded the most comes up
"so y/n I have to ask you this because everyone wants to know encluding me"
"oh no gosh I know what it is already"
"are you dating tom holland"
"oh god Tom and I are just good friends"
"really because your two have been spotted a lot of times holding hands"
"friends do that"
"sure"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Regina George is the queen bee
She's always dressed up She always wins Spring Fling Queen We're just drones that work for her And then die"James says as he turns on the radio
"My name is Regina George
And I am a massive deal Fear me, love me Stand and stare at me And these, these are real I've got money and looks I am, like, drunk with power This whole school Humps my leg like a chihuahua the prettiest poison you've ever seen I never weigh more than one-fifteen My name is Regina George And I am a massive deal I don't care who you are I don't care how you feel"
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"so y/n, let's get a little serious"
"yes" I say
"in this song, you sing 'i never weigh more than 115' but you said something in a video that Regina doesn't have to be that and that you aren't and i found that amazing"
"thank you I really don't think that she has to be that and I am not and will never be near that and I'm proud of that you should be proud of how you look"
"I love that. you're also in a musical right now hamilton"
"yes I am in England"
"so any plans for what you are going to do after hamilton"
"yes but it's a secret for now
"Okay but you play one of the Schuyler sisters"
"yes I play Eliza"
"and you're amazing in it I saw it some time ago and I love it as I wrote to you"
"it still warms my heart"
"but my biggest dream is being in hamilton but as one of the Schuyler sisters"
"mmm-hmm" I laugh
"I wanna be angelica"
"you can be James"
There's nothing rich folks love more Than going downtown and slumming it with the poor They pull up in their carriages and gawk at the students in the common Just to watch 'em talk
Take Philip Schuyler, the man is loaded Uh oh, but little does he know that His daughters, Peggy, Angelica, Eliza Sneak into the city just to watch all the guys at
Work, work
Angelica!
Work, work
Eliza!
And Peggy!
Work, work
The Schuyler sisters
Angelica!
Peggy!
Eliza!
Work!
Daddy said to be home by sundown
Daddy doesn't need to know
Daddy said not to go downtown
Like I said, you're free to go
But—look around, look around The revolution's happening in New York
New York
Angelica
Work!
It's bad enough Daddy wants to go to war
People shouting in the square
It's bad enough there'll be violence on our shore
New ideas in the air
Look around, look around
Angelica, remind me what we're looking for
She's looking for me!
Eliza, I'm looking for a mind at work (work, work) I'm looking for a mind at work (work, work) [x2] Woa-oah
Woa-oah
Work!
Ooh, there's nothing like summer in the city Someone in a rush next to someone lookin' pretty Excuse me, miss, I know it's not funny But your perfume smells like your daddy's got money Why you slummin' in the city in your fancy heels? You searchin' for an urchin who can give you ideals?
Burr, you disgust me
Ahh, so you've discussed me I'm a trust fund, baby, you can trust me
I've been reading Common Sense by Thomas Paine So men say that I'm intense or I'm insane You want a revolution? I want a revelation So listen to my declaration:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident That all men are created equal"
And when I meet Thomas Jefferson (unh!) I'mma compel him to include women in the sequel
Work!
Look around, look around at how Lucky we are to be alive right now Look around, look around at how Lucky we are to be alive right now
History is happening in Manhattan and we
Just happen to be in the greatest city in the world In the greatest city in the world!
---------------------------------
Words: 2393
Pairing: Ally Mayfair Richards x Reader
A/N: this has been in my drafts for quite some time, so enjoy!
“Last order of the night folks!” one of the line cooks called back. Other employees hooted as the night came to a close.
“Thank god, I’m ready to call it a night!” Carla, your coworker, said with a wide grin.
“Me the hell too!” you added.
The evening had gone by relatively slow at the restaurant. Perhaps that was the benefit of working a closing shift on a Sunday night. For the most part, you loved your job. Ally, your boss, was a well established business woman and you respected the hell out of her. She really cared about the restaurant and it truly showed through her work. Not to mention you loved all of your coworkers and genuinely enjoyed making carefully crafted dishes. You had to admit, this restaurant had become a part of you.
Though things changed when Ivy disappeared. Without a culinary manager, Ally couldn’t keep up with all of the work on top of her campaign. The only thing she really could do was hire a new manager to help alongside her.
You could hear a faint whistling sound coming from around the corner. Carla groaned to herself at hearing the familiar tune.
“Ugh, what is he still doing here?” she muttered.
You knew exactly who she was talking about.
Chris took over the culinary manager position months ago in place of Ally’s former spouse. Everyone could agree that he changed the vibe of the restaurant, and it wasn’t in a good way. When Ally wasn’t around, he acted as if the restaurant was his. He treated everyone here like shit and it was obvious that he didn’t care about this place like the rest of you did. Everyone hated him.
“Hiya, ladies! How are we doing back here?” a weasley voice called out. You could feel a chill run down your spine.
Luckily for you, Chris had taken a liking to you. A very extreme liking.
You did your best to keep your eyes on your work as he appeared. It wasn’t that he was ugly. He always kept his reddish brown hair tidy and made sure his beard was well trimmed. He always dressed professionally and had a deceivingly beautiful smile. You’d admitted that he was alright looking. Though he seemed to completely disregard the fact that you were a lesbian.
“We’re fine, Chris. List’s almost done.” Carla piped up.
Chris completely ignored her statement and walked over to where you were standing.
“Miss Y/N? How’s the list coming?” he asked, standing so close that you could feel his breath against your cheek. You tried hard not to choke on the smell of his cologne.
“We’re nearly finished. The only thing left is getting the soup ready for tomorrow morning.” you replied reluctantly.
“Oh, that’s nothing!” He exclaimed. “You can handle that, can’t you?”
Carla rolled her eyes. “Of course we can. Now, can we please finish up?”
Chris turned to Carla, flashing her a passive look.
“Actually, Miss Williams, I won’t be needing you any longer. Why don’t you clock out and take off early tonight, hm?”
“But Ally scheduled me to close-”
“I understand that, but I think Y/N can handle taking your closing shift. Besides, I need to get you off of the clock anyway so you don’t run overtime.”
Carla’s brows furrowed as your blood began to boil. You had been scheduled to open, then asked to stay an extra five hours. Now he wanted you to close by yourself?
“Chris, I’d really prefer it if Carla stayed.”
“You’ll be fine! I know you’re capable. Carla, I’ll clock you out.”
As he walked away, your coworker growled under her breath.
“What the hell is his problem? I’m not even close to over time!”
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault.” you muttered. “I’ll see you on Monday, yeah?”
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay? I can call Ally,”
“It’s fine… Really. Go get some sleep.”
Carla nodded before getting her things.
The rest of the night went painfully slow. Chris continued to keep adding items to your list, while others left. One by one, employees were leaving for the evening. The last dishwasher waved to you right before he went out the back door.
“Night, Y/N!”
“Night.” you mumbled. You were so tired. You were the last one in the kitchen but you had finally finished your list. Beginning to clean, you made sure to rush so that you could leave as soon as possible.
Just as you were taking off your apron, you heard the faint whistling begin once again. Your heart was racing. Chris was still fucking here.
He came around the corner and gave you a sly grin.
“Done?”
“Yeah… Is it good enough for tonight? I was supposed to leave hours ago.”
Chris raised one of his brows. “Did you put the lids on the sink?”
Shit.
“No, I forgot. Let me take care of that…”
You quickly rushed over to the sinks and placed the lids over them. As you placed the last one, you felt firm hands upon your shoulders.
“Woah, woah, woah… Why don’t you slow down? You can take your time, you know.”
Chris was standing directly behind you, his mouth inches away from your ear. His thumbs began to gently rub into your skin. Your body was completely paralyzed.
“I-I’m just trying to get home, that’s all.”
“It’s okay, Y/N. I see how jumpy you get whenever I’m around.” One of his hands brushed your hair back gently. “I know you want me.”
Your eyes widened as you wriggled out of his grasp. You took a step away from him.
“Chris, look, I think maybe you’re reading things wrong-”
In an instant, he cornered you so that his body was pressed against your own. The edge of the counter hit the middle of your back.
“You don’t have to play hard to get, sunshine. We can keep it a secret…” His arm wrapped around your waist and gripped you tight. You tried to push him off of you, but his hold on you was too strong.
“Chris, get off of me!”
“Come on, sweetheart, just one kiss. I promise you won’t regret it.”
“Get the fuck off of me!”
He leaned his face close to yours. You could smell liquor on his breath. His lips barely touched your own as he gazed deep into your eyes.
“Naughty girl… Give Daddy a kiss.”
From behind you, someone cleared their throat rather loudly. You weren’t the only two here. You couldn’t see who it was, but you could see a wave of panic sweep over Chris. He immediately stood up straight. You turned your head to see the person standing there.
“Christopher Martin, do you care to tell me what’s going on here?” Ally said in a rather stern tone.
You had never been so happy to see your boss in your life. She must have come from her campaign, for she was still dressed in her pantsuit. You didn’t think she would be in tonight though you were completely grateful that she’d come when she did.
“I… I was just trying to help Miss Y/L/N close-”
“That’s not what it looked like.” She folded her arms in front of her chest as she slowly made her way closer to Chris.
“It seems like you were trying to sexually assault one of my employees.”
“N-No,” he began, “It’s not like that at all-”
“Where in the fuck do you get off?” Ally shouted.
You bit your lower lip. Chris was absolutely speechless.
“I trust you with my restaurant while I leave to give my speech to the press, and I come back to see you pinning one of my female prep cooks down and asking her to call you Daddy.” The corners of her lips twitched in anger.
“Honestly, Ally, she brought it on. She’s been leading me on for weeks, she was begging me to do something-”
“I do not give a flying fuck about what you have to say. Y/N has never once tried to lead you on, she’s a fucking lesbian for christ’s sake. Did that ever occur to you?”
“I… I..”
“Of course it didn’t, because you’re a fucking prick.” She towered over Chris as her eyes filled with rage.
“If I EVER see you so much as glance at one of my female employees again, I will fucking DESTROY you. Is that clear?”
Your hand was covering your mouth. You had never seen Ally so heated like this. All Chris could do was nod his head, he couldn’t even speak.
“Get the fuck out of my restaurant. You’re fired.”
Chris’s mouth dropped open.
“You can’t do that! I’m the culinary manager!”
“Not anymore. If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the cops and we can make this a bigger deal than it should be. I’ve beat a whole fucking cult before, I won’t hesitate to ruin your life.”
Chris angrily looked at you, then at Ally. She stood close to you, almost shielding you from him. You couldn’t believe what was happening right now.
Without saying anything, he got his coat and stormed out the back door. Ally turned to you before taking your hands into her own.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you at all?”
Her skin was warm against your own. This touch was much more welcome, more genuine. She made you feel so safe.
“No, I’m okay.” you replied. “Thank you… It would’ve been so much worse if you hadn’t been there.”
Ally cupped one of your cheeks in her hand. “You don’t have to see him ever again, okay? I’ll make sure he never steps foot in here.”
You nodded but you were a little flustered. Ally had never been this close to you before. You got the occasional pat on the back and she would always come back to talk to you in a friendly way, but this was much different. Her eyes were gazing deep into your own as if she was putting you in a trance. You hadn’t even noticed the bright pink blush that had rushed to your face.
Ally was lingering much longer than she had planned to. Her heart was racing. She wasn’t entirely sure why seeing Chris trying to hit on you filled her with so much rage. If it had been any other female employee, he still would’ve gotten fired and she would’ve been just as angry at him. Though seeing him touch you in such a disgusting manner gave her nothing but the desire to slit his throat. Holding you close like this was the only thing keeping her calm.
“Uh… Why don’t you go get your things,” She muttered as she pulled away from you slightly. “I’ll walk you to your car.”
You didn’t question her. Immediately, you went to the back to grab your purse and your jacket. You took a moment to inhale slowly. Tonight had been an absolute rollercoaster.
When you came back out, Ally placed her hand on your upper back and began to guide you out of the restaurant.
“What about the closing work?” You asked.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it.” The politician replied.
The parking lot was dark so you were thankful that Ally insisted on coming with you. Chris’s car appeared to be gone, but you could never be too sure. Ally didn’t leave your side once. As you pressed the unlock button on your keys, she opened the driver door for you.
“Now, I want you to take the week off. Regroup. Take some time to recover from everything.”
“But I have a shift tomorrow morning-”
“I’m aware of that.” She glanced at her surroundings to make sure you were completely safe. “I’m going to cover for you, so don’t worry about it.”
“Ally, seriously I can come to work.”
“After what you went through tonight, I feel personally responsible. I cannot believe I hired such a creep.”
“You couldn’t have known he was going to do that.”
“Either way, I want you to stay home this week. You’ll still be paid and I’ll make sure of that. No one should’ve had to go through something like that.”
You were so shocked at her generosity. She was a great boss, but she was more than that. She saved your life tonight. You owed so much to her.
“Um… Thank you. For being there…. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if he had actually done something.”
“Anything for you.” Ally said with a small smile.
“Is there any way I could make it up to you?”
Ally wasn’t one for others repaying simple favors. Instead, she saw this as an opportunity. There was a short silence as she pulled out a business card from her pocket.
“You can let me cook you dinner. Tomorrow night, eight o’clock sharp. Are you free?”
“Yeah, I should be. Are you sure I shouldn’t be the one cooking?”
“Positive. You can repay me by giving me some company, does that sound fair to you?”
A wide grin was plastered across your face. You sat down in your car and turned the key in the ignition.
“Sounds pretty fair to me.”
“Good. Get home safe, okay?” Ally closed your car door carefully before moving to walk away.
You held the wheel tightly. Tonight had been horrendous, that was for damn certain. But now the Ally Mayfair Richards had offered to dinner at her house. Were you stuck inside a fever dream?
A loud knocking sound rattled your window. The sound caused you to jump as you turned to look out. Ally was waving from outside as if to ask you to roll your window down. As you rolled it down, she stuck her head in the frame.
“Sorry to scare you! I was gonna say, make sure to text me when you make it home safe, okay? I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if something else happened to you.”
“Of course. Good night, Ally.”
“Good night, honey.” She squeezed your hand tight before making her way back into the restaurant.
This wasn’t a fever dream whatsoever. You swore you could kiss Chris right on his disgusting lips for he’d scored you a date with the most influential lesbian in town.
TikTok Boyfriend
MINORS DNI!! E-plier x male reader. E-plier is called Marcus, and beware, I know nothing about TikTok and had to google things about it, so if something seems off, that’s why :P
Tumblr media
Marcus loves making TikToks, and since he has gotten very popular on the app, he has also found he loves to livestream and chat with his followers.
It’s fun to film and post things like dances, lip-syncing, and other fun stuff (and the occasional thirst trap), but it’s extra fun to see peoples reactions to what he is doing live.
It’s also just nice to hang out and chill with people for a bit, especially when he’s alone, like right now, because you went out for a run a little earlier.
Marcus is in the kitchen, his phone on the counter, propped up against the wall. He does a dab cause someone asks, grinning as he comes up, seeing several people groan in chat.
“So, now that I’ve done the mandatory dab, any questions for me?” His eyes scan the screen, trying to find a question to answer.
“Oh, here’s one! What’s your favorite candy rn? I gotta say, right now it’s the mango ginger chew.” Marcus reads the screen a little, seeing a few question about what it is.
“It’s these chewable candy, look, I’ll show you, hold on one sec.” Marcus looks down, opening a drawer that is just outside of the screens view. Too preoccupied with finding the candy and talking, he doesn’t hear the front door open, and you yelling that you’re home into your shared house.
You take your shoes and shirt off, leaving your socks and running short on. You toss the sweaty shirt into the laundry hamper in the bathroom on your way to the kitchen. You can hear Marcus talking in there.
“Ah, here they are!” Marcus pulls up a mostly yellow and orange bag, holding it up so people can see it. You walk into the kitchen, and see him talking to his phone, but pay him no mind, going straight for the fridge to get something to drink.
“The little corner store not far from here sells them, tried them for the first time a few months ago, and since then I just can’t stop eating them.” Marcus takes a candy and pops one in his mouth, reading the comments as he chews.
“Never mind the sweets, who’s that shirtless hunk in the background? He’s the real candy here.”  Marcus reads out loud from his phone. His eyes widen, spinning around just in time to see you closing the fridge, Redbull in hand.
“Yo.” You say and give him a peace sign, grinning as he blushes.
“Babe, didn’t realise you were back yet.” You smile and open the Redbull.
“Just got back from my run, needing some energy before I go do some strength exercises.” You take a sip of your Redbull, eyeing the phone you can barely see over Marcus‘s shoulder.
“I didn’t ruin.... Whatever you were doing did I?” Marcus quickly looks at his phone, were the comments seems to be exploding even though he’s covering most of you now. He turns back around, grin on his face.
“No, but you did just show off to a few thousand people on my livestream.” You raise a brow, grinning yourself. Marcus holds out a hand, making a come here motion. You oblige, and he takes your hand not occupied with the Redbull and drags you next to him.
“Everyone, meet my very fit, and very handsome boyfriend.” You wave with your Redbull before taking a long sip.
“Hi people of TikTok.” Marcus snorts and you stick your tongue out at him. Marcus looks at the chat on screen, which is mostly filled with heart, star, and sweating emojis. You notice as well, grinning smugly, taking another sip of your Redbull.
“People are wondering if you’re down with answering some questions. I think they’re a bit curious about you.” You grin, elbowing Marcus’s side gently.
“Or just thirsty, but go ahead, ask away.” The chat more or less explodes, and both of you laugh at that.
“Woah, slow down people, I can only read so much!” You let your eyes skim the screen.
“How long you two been together?” Marcus reads out loud.
“We been together for like a year now, a couple of uh, mutual friends introduced us.” Marcus nods, looking for another question for you two answer.
“Okay, quick fire round! Favorite color?”
“Orange.”
“Favorite food?”
“Oh, though choice, but gotta say fried rice right now.”
“Favorite movie?”
“Come on, too hard, next.”
“What do you do?” You can’t help the shit eating grin that spreads across your face.
“Mostly Marcus.”
“Hey!” Marcus hits your shoulder as you laugh.
“Alright, alright, heh. I’m not gonna go into specifics, but I work with legal stuff.” You take a last sip of your drink, shaking it to check if it’s empty.
“And I think that’s my cue to leave folks, I should get back to my workout.” You try to leave, but Marcus hand still around yours stops you.
“What?” Marcus grins.
“You not gonna give me my goodbye kiss?” You eye his phone for a brief moment, then mentally shrug.
Leaning forward, you press your lips to his for a kiss you intend to be brief, but Marcus quickly deepens it, even putting a hand on your hip.
When you lean back, Marcus is wearing a smug grin, and looking over to the chat it’s filled with sweating and eggplant emojis. You chuckle, letting go of his hand to ruffle his hair.
“You’re such an exhibitionist.” Marcus doesn’t deny it, but pouts as he fixes his hair and you walk away. Turning back to his phone, he starts reading the comments again.
“Wow, you guys are THIRSTY.”
For the rest of the livestream he keeps getting comments that he seems distracted, and to be fair he is.
He can’t help but think about you kissing him shirtless in front of so many people, and then just sauntering off.
He ends up cutting the livestream short, apologising for it being shorter than he said it would. The last comment he sees before shutting off is “Hell yeah, go get that D Marcus ;)”
---------
You have just finished your workout, and are on your way to your shower when Marcus more or less corners you in the hallway. He pushes you back against the wall, lips on yours and his arm bracketing you in. You’re surprised to say the least, but are quick to kiss back.
Marcus hands skim along the waistband of your shorts, starting to pull them down, but you stop him.
“I’m sweaty and gross.” Marcus huffs and sinks to his knees.
“Don’t care.” This time you don’t stop as he pulls at your shorts, letting them fall to the floor. He pushes his sunglasses on top of his head, taking your cock in hand, pumping it a few times. You swear and tangle a hand in his hair, careful of the sunglasses.
Marcus strokes your cock as he kisses the inside your thighs, teasingly slow about it. You grunt and pulls at his hair, clearly telling what you want to happen.
He looks up with a smug grin, before taking the very tip of your cock into his mouth and sucking. You moan, letting your head fall back against the wall with a slight thunk.
You can feel Marcus grin around your cock as he starts to bob his head up and down, covering what he can’t get in his mouth with his hand.
He varies the pressure around your cock, sucking in seemingly random patterns as he moves his mouth up and down your shaft, occasionally pulling up so you’re barely in his mouth before sinking back down again.
You have to hold back to not buck your hips up to much, even though you just want to fuck his face.
Marcus seems to know, as he sinks down as far he can, your dick hitting the back of his throat. This earns him a loud moan from you and a hard tug on his hair. He moans around your cock, and palms his own cock trough his pants.
You look down just then, and the sight of him is almost enough to make you come.
His lips stretched around your cock, palming himself with eyes closed, clearly enjoying himself just as much as you are.
Marcus opens his eyes and looks up, grinning as best as he can with his mouth full, and starts moving again. He speeds up now, causing you to grunt. You move your hand so you’re gripping his hair with both, his sunglasses clattering to the floor.
You buck into his face, working with Marcus’s set rythm. His hand joins his mouth on your cock again, jerking you off at the same time as he sucks you off.
You warn Marcus when you’re close to coming, and he pulls off your cock completely, but before you can complain, he’s jerking you off with both hands, and you’re coming.
Marcus makes you come all over his face, your cum painting white streaks across his cheeks and nose, even covering the little mark he always draws on  his cheek.
When he lets go of your cock, you let go of his hair, supporting yourself on the wall. Marcus licks his lips, catching some of the cum dripping down his cheeks with his tongue.
“Fuck.” It’s all you can say and Marcus looks so smug that you tug him up by his hair, smashing your lips against his, not caring in the slightest that his face is covered in your cum as you kiss him. You somehow manage to pull your shorts back up and on without stopping kissing Marcus.
You kiss him until you have gotten a little more steady on your feet, and then you spin Marcus around, pinning him to the wall. You move from his lips to kiss along his neck, starting to suck a hickey into his skin.
He moans, his hips moving against you, pressing his very hard cock up against you. You let one hand wander down to the front of his pants, pressing against it over his clothes.
“Fuck, you’re so fucking hard.” You speak against his neck as you stroke him as good as you can trough the fabric.
“Well somebody just came all over face so...” You can hear the grin in his voice as he bucks his hips up towards your hand.
“Come on babe, open my pants and take my cock out.” You grunt against Marcus’s neck, pressing against him more, so he’s flush against the wall, your thigh pushing between his legs, adding to the pressure of your hand. Marcus moans as you bite gently down on his neck.
“No.”
“No?” Marcus pants, confused as you move your thigh and hand against him.
“No, you’re gonna come for me just like this.” Starting on another hickey, Marcus moans out loud, his hand clutching at your biceps.
“Since you’re such a show off, I think you can show me how good you can be at coming in your pants.” You lick a long stripe up the side of his neck, stopping at his ear to gently nibble at his lobe before speaking.
“Don’t act like me kissing you in front of your audience isn’t waht brought all of this on.” Marcus groans and you pull back to look at his face. He’s out of breath, clearly blushing and flustered.
“You little exhibitionist.” A particular hard press of your hand makes Marcus groan.
“You get excited by the thought of getting off in front of an audience don’t you?” Marcus nods and you grin.
“All those people watching you fall apart underneath me, watching you turn into a horny mess.” You go back to kiss along his neck, kissing over the marks from earlier, and start making new ones.
“Seeing you come all over yourself, getting covered in my cum and yours.” The breath Marcus lets out is shaky, and followed right after by a moan as he moves against your thigh, seeking friction. You grin against his skin, able to tell how close he his.
“Come on, come on, come for me.” You speed up your hand, and Marcus whines.
“Please....”
“Please what?”
“Please touch my cock!” You hum, your own cock stirring again hearing how desperate Marcus is to get his cock touched.
“Might as well.” You quickly unbutton and unzip his pants, slipping on hand inside, taking his cock in your hand.
Marcus moans out your name, and just a few pumps later he’s coming all over your hand and himself. You stroke him trough it, savouring the little moans and whimpers coming from his as his orgasm is drawn out.
Letting go off his cock, you tuck him back into his pants. You put your hands on his hips, drawing him in for a kiss.
“Come on, lets go for a shower.” Marcus nods and as you try to move away, he palms your cock, making you draw in a sharp breath.
“Looks like someone is already ready for round two.” His grin is cocky and flirty, already recovering form his orgasm. You groan.
“Shower. Now.”
Chapter 8 - Motostoke is here!
it took me a while but finally chapter 8 is finished! so much happens, and hopefully there’s enough surprise in there for you all <3 you finally arrive in Motostoke and there’s barely enough time to make it to the opening ceremony! here is the link to read it on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/29087343/chapters/71401200 but you can also read it below the cut! would absolutely love any and all feedback <3
Motostoke
The entrance to Motostoke was a grand, brick-lined staircase, like a bridge into a fortress. It’s intimidating. Coming closer to the steps, you realize how this feels like a gate to the rest of Galar, and you’ve been contained to a little tiny pocket this entire time. Your thumbs graze the straps of your bag hanging from your shoulders as you contemplate this. Things are going to get more serious from now on, aren’t they?
A chill runs up your arms, the cool morning air brushing past you. The sun hasn’t yet peeked over the cliffs of the Wild Area, casting sleepy shadows across the field.
“We’ve made it!”
Milo clearly is used to being awake right at dawn, and has gently ushered you from your sleeping bag while it was still dark and along the walls until you reached the stairs of Motostoke. Most of your Pokemon were too sleepy to do the walk, only Wooloo, Milo’s Pokemon, and the wild Pancham followed along with you. Wooloo refused to not walk pressed up against your legs, and not being particularly agile this early in the morning, tripped you at a pretty consistent rate. Instead of saying something to the Wooloo, Milo instead opted for you to hang onto his arm.
But here you are, literally steps away from civilization. You take out your phone to text Leon that you arrived, and he quickly replies that he’s getting Charizard to come retrieve you.
Your mind was preoccupied wishing for a warm shower when you hear some shuffling behind you. Turning, you see Pancham kicking her feet a bit. Wooloo turns with you, and decides to sleepily trot over to her. You crouch down in front of her, not feeling particularly coherent, but knowing you should say something.
“It was so sweet of you to join us for some camping. Did you enjoy yourself?” You offer you hand, and she brushes her check against it, nodding. “I can tell you made friends with my Pokemon, right Wooloo?”
Wooloo nuzzles against Pancham, making her eyes glisten. From your periphery, you notice Milo intently watching your exchange, keeping quiet. Reaching to one of your bag pockets, you fish out a Pokeball, and show it to her.
“I won’t force you to come with me, but if you want, you join .” Your eyes still squint in tiredness, but you’re able to muster a genuine smile for Pancham.
The Pokemon takes the device into her paws, staring at it for a bit. She stares across the lake, probably back to where you found her. Wooloo gives an encouraging baaah, nudging Pancham. You gesture to the knob. “Just press that button, but only if you want.”
With a few more moments of contemplation, a bright flash of light envelops Pancham and she enters the Pokeball. There aren’t many more movements, and it clicks into place. You’re quick to let her back out, giving her a hug. “Welcome to the team!”
You stand as Wooloo takes over hugging duties, and Pancham looks happy. You look over to Milo, who has a more serious look on his face than you were expecting. His brow is scrunched and it looks like he is really considering something.
“Everything okay, Milo?”
He jumps a bit, clearly lost in thought. Milo blinks a few times and presses his lips together, like he’s steeling himself for something. You didn’t notice it before, but he was clasping an envelope in his hand. First, he whispers your name, then quickly shakes his head and steps closer to you.
“I know this is sudden but-” You notice he’s turning red. “I have to hurry ‘n meet Nessa for somethin’. I hate rushin’ off like this, but, I could also use a favor.” He offers the envelope, which you assume inside is a letter, to you. “You’re goin’ to the openin’ ceremony, right? If you’re gettin’ there early, can you give this to the person at the front desk?”
You take the letter from him, flipping it over to notice green stamp in the shape of a leaf. “Sure, of course! It’s the least I can do for all the help you’ve given me. I’ll make sure to arrive early.” You pocket it safely. “I guess this is goodbye?”
He gives you a quick nod. “For now, I’m sure we’ll see each other soon!” Milo begins to move backwards towards the stairs, waving. He really seems to want to run off, turning and scaling the steps towards the city, his Pokemon floating around him and making sounds as if they were chiding him. It was much like how it happened over at Route 1, breezing into and out of your life. You wish you were able to get his number, or any other sort of contact. You make a mental note to visit Turffield, once you learn where it is.
Returning your Pokemon to their Pokeballs, you begin to climb the steps. Ambient noise of both the river and the city ease into your senses as you progress upwards. You hear what you come to see are large rotating gears and streams of steam leaking into the sky above. A feeling of excitement rises from your chest as you finally make it to the top, taking in the view of a bustling city. It’s such a contrast to the quiet of Postwick and Wedgehurst and the utter remoteness of the Wild Area. People mill about on the bridge crossing the river and in the distance more dense crowds hustle to their destinations.
The sound of your name breaks your reverie, and in the middle distance you see someone sprinting towards you. You barely have the time to react before Leon nearly crashes into you, pulling you into a big bear hug. Shocked, you gently place your hands on his back. Behind him you see onlookers starting and Charizard making his way over.
“You’re here! Thank Arceus you’re actually alright.”
Smiling, you close your eyes and give him a proper friendly squeeze. “I promised, didn’t I?” Your face was pressed into his shoulder, and you can feel his heart beating from presumably his run over.
“I know but… I just had to see you myself to believe it.” Leon pulls away, and begins to realize the closeness of your bodies before letting go quickly. “Sorry- didn’t mean to-”
“It’s okay, Leon.” You smile softly as you both tear up.
A huff comes from behind him, and Leon makes room for Charizard to say hello. You pet him, but you can’t help but notice people are gawking a bit.
“Shall we get out of here?”
You nod enthusiastically. “Please, I need to shower so badly!”
“I wasn’t going to say that out loud, but-” Leon’s cut short by you poking him in the side in retaliation. When he reacts strongly, you do it a few more times. “Stop! That’s my type weakness!” Who would have known the Champion of Galar was ticklish?
Rolling your eyes and petting Charizard one more time, the three of you crossed the bridge into Motostoke proper. However it became clear navigating through the city wouldn’t be as straight forward as you thought. Leon was attracting a constant influx of fans, probably because more trainers and sports fans are in the city than usual because of the ceremony. You could tell that it pained him turn down autographs and selfies, he would only stop and do a few at a time before apologizing.
“Sorry everyone, I have to get her back to the hotel.” This drew more curiosity your way. You weren’t sure how you felt about the attention. “But after the opening ceremony, there will be plenty of Champion Time!” He strikes that dramatic pose of his and the crowds cheers. Leon nods at Charizard. “Lead the way, mate!”
Charizard takes off and Leon runs after him, leaving you to scramble keeping up. Every once in a while Leon would look back over his shoulder at you, as if checking that you were actually there still with him.
Motostoke was characterized by its red bricks and industrial metal, giving you the feeling that even though this was a city, it was full of working class folk and had more of a big town vibe. You noticed people in what looks like mining overalls, and plenty of off-duty watt traders. There were more second-hand stores and plant nurseries than anything fancy. It was an interesting contrast with the trendy stores on the main thoroughfare in the center of the city. But there was still plenty of motion, much more than you usually see in Alolan cities. The train cruised through the city at timed intervals, and large flying Pokemon you’ve never seen before pick up and drop off passengers in compact cars. You tried to remember some stores for visiting later before you got on the moving platform that brought you to the second level of the city.
“Woah, this is so cool!”
Leon couldn’t help but smirk at your reaction. He’s been focused on making his way through the crowd after Charizard, waving at people who call out his name, signing a shirt or two along the way, but trying not to get too distracted.
“I used to ride this all the time as kid whenever my family visited. Mum would yell at me for pressing the button too many times, said it made her motion sick.”
Charizard shook his head, leading the two of you off the platform. You see crowds lining up to enter a large building, with intermittent cheering and Pokemon cries. In particular, there was a loud group of fans in black and pink yelling the loudest for a particular challenger they had banners for. Galar… really takes this gym challenge seriously, doesn’t it? There was even a figure dancing around in what you assumed to be a Pokeball costume, handing out Pokeballs to everyone and encouraging children to enter the challenge when they were older.
“That’s Motostoke Stadium, where the opening ceremony is. I’ll be able to get us through when we come back.” Leon scans the situation before Charizard huffs again for him to follow. He could tell Leon was prone to getting sucked into crowds of adoring fans if left to his own devices for too long.
The Budew Drop Inn wasn’t too far away, a straight shot from the stadium. You notice trainers leaving it heading towards where you just came from.
“The League put us all up here, so if they are running late, we might run into Hop and Gloria! Unlikely though, Hop was probably bouncing all night.” He chuckles to himself as you both enter.
Indeed, moving through the lobby you don’t spot any familiar faces though, of course, the young trainers are reacting to Leon. You also feel like they are reacting to you, not knowing who you are or why you’re with Leon. Their eyes begin to feel like weights pressed on your body, and you couldn’t be happier when the elevator doors closed and it was just you, Leon, and Charizard. There’s something comforting about the low hum of the machinery lifting you upwards.
“I’m so glad you’re safe.”
You turn to Leon, surprised. It seems like you’ve had enough time to process your encounter with danger in the Dappled Grove, but it must still fresh for him. He’s leaning back with arms crossed over his chest, looking over to you… wistfully?
“Sorry Leon. I just… wasn’t thinking right.”
Charizard seems to busy himself looking at the elevator controls as the two of you talked in hushed tones.
“I don’t know what came over me. I shouldn’t have been so rude to you.” You lock eyes with his golden gaze. “Do you think you can ever forgive me?”
His expression softens, maybe even looks a bit sad.
“Of course I do. I was acting all weird around you, because… because…” Charizard casts Leon a look, and he gulps, looking incredibly flustered.
There’s a chime, and the elevator doors open. Trainers file in, recognizing the famous duo. Trying to talk with Leon prompts him to grab your sleeve and lead you onto the floor instead of finishing what he was going to say. You hear Charizard exhale a disapproving grunt.
Soon you were in the room you saw through the phone, seeing a scattering of Sonia’s and Leon’s things all over. Both probably are a bit of a mess. Leon flops back onto the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
“Okay, I’ll take a quick shower and change into something fresh.” You set your bag down in a corner, grabbed what you needed from it, and slipped into the bathroom. Everything felt both strange and familiar, not having things like running water and electricity for the past few days almost made you feel like you regressed in some way. But the moment you stepped into the heated spray, you felt all the discomfort in your body melt away. The film of sweat and dirt on your skin finally washed off with a good scrub, and the steam smelled of your body wash, honey with a range of floral notes.
Reaching out of the shower to grab something for you hair, you catch conversation through the thin wall. It sounds like Leon is talking his Charizard.
“Don’t give me that look.”
You hear Charizard give an exasperated sigh.
“I’m just waiting for the right moment!”
What is Leon talking about? You can hear him groan.
“Arceus- Raihan’s right, I have zero game.”
You begin to feel a bit guilty eavesdropping, so you return to your shower. You guess he might be talking about Sonia, and imagine there’s a lot to catch up with once you all get some time to yourselves.
Eventually you get through the motions of your shower and exit it, feeling better. You’ll never take a functioning bathroom for granted ever again. Quickly slipping into clean clothes and leaving the bathroom, you look into the mirror and attempt to, in vain, tidy up your hair. You hear Leon rising from the nearby bed and leaning on the threshold to the vanity area. He sounds like he’s going to say something, but hesitates. You can see him in the reflection of the mirror, and he’s tapping the sides of his face with his hands for some reason.
“Is something wrong Leon?” You’re applying a quick amount of lotion before hurrying to slip on shoes that aren’t caked in mud and grass.
“O-oh nothing! Just wanted to be ready to leave soon.” He coughs a bit, strangely at the same time Charizard makes some noises.
“Okay okay, I’m almost done.” Reaching for your phone in your bag, you remember your promise to Milo and grab the letter to slip it into your back pocket. “Alright, I’m all set to go!”
“Let’s go!” Leon is quick to throw open the door and lead everyone out of the room.
Soon you all exit the hotel and Charizard leads you down the path to the stadium. Crowds clogged the streets and blocked the path forward. You easily got jostled by hyped up sports fans, especially ones that noticed Leon and his Charizard. And considering how much they stuck out like a sore thumb, a long shock of purple hair over a cape with a flame orange companion, that was everyone within a mile. Fans tried to get in some Champion Time and mostly saw you as an obstacle in the way of getting a moment with Leon. It’s not long that you lose sight of the two as you’re pushed back and away from them.
You call out Leon’s name, but all you can do is hear him try to calm down excitable fans. It must be tough having to put up an image constantly, and needing to cater to fans whenever he steps outside. He seems to enjoy though, at least, that’s what you see from the outside. Leon seems at his best when he’s among his fans, talking to them about Pokemon battles and striking poses. All the times you see him in private he seems off, maybe because you don’t treat him like a champion. You’re not really that interested in becoming The Best or getting his autograph. No desire to fight him and become champion yourself. Maybe it was selfish of you to basically ignore that Leon was The Champion of Galar, not putting much importance into it, because that makes up for so much of who he is.
A hand appears from the crowd and grabs yours. You try to stammer out a sound of surprise, but you’re pulled in as some of the fan part to make room. Soon enough you see the arm belongs to Leon, and you can’t help but notice how well-muscled it is. You fingers instinctively tighten and his rougher palm brushes up against your softer skin. Warmth creeps into your face as you lock eyes with Leon, who looks both determined and concerned.
“Hold on tight, we’re just going to push through!” He doesn’t seem to notice your reaction at all, and turns to move through the crowd.
Leon politely tells people to move aside, or that he’ll sign their grandma’s Alcremie’s Pokeball some other time, trying to stay a cheerful champion but getting more forward when fans don’t listen. You’re definitely noticing the amount of eyes on you, and wonder if the flashing you’re seeing is your anxiety or Rotom Phones. You feel Leon’s grip tighten as he begins to shoulder through people to get to the front doors of the stadium.
What look like event coordinators are trying to corral people into orderly lines and only let some in at a time. They stiffen a bit when they see Leon suddenly among the people they are trying to hold back.
“Ch-champion Leon!! What are you doing out here? Oleana has been looking for you!”
He puts back on that Champion Smile. “Sorry, I got a little lost on the way! You know me.”
The staff let out an exasperated sigh, then look over to you, eyes trailing from your face, to your hand being held by Leon’s, and back to your face.
“And who’s this?”
Leon suddenly becomes very aware of holding your and drops it.
“A f-friend! Sitting with me.”
He quickly waves and moves past them, signaling you to follow. When you enter past the doors you both arrive in what looks to be the lobby of the stadium. Is there you notice the front desk, and remember what Milo told you.
“Leon, one second, I need to deliver something to the front desk.” You beckon them to follow over as he and Charizard were about to go off in a different direction. Mercifully, there’s no one else needing to take up the attendant’s time, so you hope this goes quickly. “Excuse me, is this front desk?”
The man behind the counter looks up from the computer he’s typing on and nods. “May I help you?”
“Yes, I was asked to deliver this letter to you.” You take out Milo’s letter and give it to him. Leon sees it and his eyebrows scrunch in confusion. You must have forgotten to mention it to him in the rush of everything. “Hopefully everything’s all there.”
Business done, you turn to Leon. “Alright, that’s all! Ready to go? I’m so excited to see Hop and Gloria out there!”
You’re about to step away when you hear your name being called. Confused, you turn back to the man at the front desk, who is reading the letter that was in the envelope. “I’m sorry, how did you know my name?”
“It’s right here.” He shows you the letter, but you don’t understand why it would be there. “It’s an Endorsement Letter for the Gym Challenge. And not just any endorsement.” He points down to the messy signature at the bottom of all the writing. “This is from Milo, Turffield’s very own Gym Leader.”
It takes a couple seconds for you to notice your mouth is hanging open.
“Milo is a WHAT!?”
~*~*~*~
There he is on the big screen. Kind but goofy grin, messy peach hair, noticeably jacked silhouette. That’s Milo alright, and he’s waving to the entire stadium in an outfit you haven’t seen him in before, along with the other Galarian gym leaders wearing similar ones. And not only that… right next to him is a face you recognize. The model Nessa. Milo’s girlfriend Nessa.
You’re standing in a locker room with other Gym Challengers watching the screens of what’s going on out on the stadium pitch. The man at the front desk hurried you away from a confounded Leon, grabbing a uniform that looked your size, and escorted you to the room where new challengers would be waiting. And here you are now, wearing the numbers 168, standing between Hop and Gloria. The look on their faces when you appeared was priceless, but now they were mostly excited for you be there.
It is a mystery as to why Milo endorsed you to do the Gym Challenge, especially when you said you weren’t really interested. Pokemon battles don’t excite you, and you aren’t looking to beat Leon and become the next Champion. And he never mentioned that he was a gym leader the entire time you were with him! You suppose that you never asked, but isn’t it pertinent information for when you’re handing near-strangers letters of endorsements for the biggest sporting event in the nation!?
Everything was still processing through your mind when the event coordinators began to herd all the new challenges out of the locker rooms and into the tunnel that led towards the field. The noise from the crowd was overwhelming, thumping in your chest where your heart should be. A wave of anxiety churns through your torso as it hits you what is happening. This entire time you were confused about how you arrived at this point, but now you’re being asked to take your own steps forward. Hop is dragging Gloria forward who in turn pulls you closer to the pitch, only letting go once you arrive and see the crowds cheering.
How did you get here? You didn’t even want to be here. And now everyone sees you, both with their eyes and cameras, and it’s like there’s no turning back. You can’t run.
They eventually line you all up to go and shake hands with the gym leaders. Milo is first, and your heart beats faster as you approach him. Eventually, you’re in his periphery, and if you didn’t know any better, you would say he was beginning to stutter and turn a shade redder. Maybe that was just the effect of the stadium lighting.
Eventually, it’s your turn. You step in front of him and see that his emerald eyes are downcast and his face his completely red. He grasps your hand, but doesn’t really shake it. It’s almost as if he’s looking for an apology.
“Q-quite the surprise, huh…?” He’s able to get out at least that much, though you barely heard him over the din of the stadium.
“Milo, what is going on??”
You can’t continue the conversation because of the flow of the line, you’re quickly nudged over to face the next leader:
Nessa.
Shaking your hand, she looks you dead-set in the eye. You can’t help but notice how elegant she is, even in the sportswear. She leans in closer to you.
“Interesting.”
That wasn’t what you were expecting to hear from her. You notice Milo looking over to the both of you from the corner of his eyes.
“Make sure to beat Milo, I want to know what he sees in you.”
And with that, the line forces you to move on to the attractive older man next to her. You continue down the line, shaking hands with all the gym leaders, and only when you near the end do you see that Leon has also joined the gym leaders in the event. When you arrive in front of him, he gives you a look. You don’t know what it means, but instead of shaking your hand, he gives you a quick hug. You feel his warm breath on your neck as he whispers into your ear:
“Wait for me in the lobby.”
And with that, he sends you off with the rest of the line, back to his Champion smile and handshakes.
~*~*~*~
After being forced through some photoshoots with the League’s PR people, you change out of your uniform and head back out to the lobby with Gloria and Hop. The three of you chat before you’re approached by Leon, and by his side is a fashionable-looking man in a business suit.
“Congratulations again! You all looked great in your jerseys.” Leon high-fives the kids, and direct a small smile your way. “I wanted to introduce you all to Chairman Rose, he’s the head of the League!”
The chairman waves his hand in modesty. “It’s good to meet you all! I was curious to see who was able to get the Champion’s endorsement.” He then looks over to you. “And Gym Leader Milo’s! Very unusual and rare indeed.”
There is something about the chairman that makes you nervous. All that you know of him is from TV and passing talk, and it makes him seem almost god-like. At the vary least, the patron of all of Galar. He sees the Dynamax bands on the kids’ wrists and brings a hand to his chin.
“If you all have those, you must have been guided here by the light of he Wishing Stars… Auspicious indeed.” Rose turns to Leon. “I must be off, and I’m sure you have to get to things as well.” And with a friendly nod, he departs.
Leon crosses his hands over his chest with a smile. “That’s the Chairman for you, he’s always pushing himself for Galar’s sake! I learn so much from him.”
“And I’m going to push myself too! Just you watch, Leon!” Hop thrusts a finger at his brother. “I will be the next Champion of Galar! C’mon Gloria, we need to hurry to Turffield and get our first badge!”
Hop bolts off to the exit, and Gloria is shaking her head. “It turns out not matter how fast he runs off, no matter how long I take, he’s waiting for me.” Gloria is either just observant or already a fine manipulator of men. She comes over to hug you, squeezing tight. “I’m so happy my cousin is coming on this journey too! It makes it less lonely.”
“You always have my number, feel free to call if you’re ever in trouble, okay? ” Your eyes look up to Leon. “I have Pokemon now, that means I can help people.”
Leon returns an expression of curiosity, uncrossing his arms and smoothing his beard in thought.
Gloria pulls away from you. “Okay, I better follow Hop before he gets into trouble. I hope to see you in Turffield!” With a shy wave to Leon, she’s off through the doors.
The lobby is actually pretty quiet since most of the crowd of fans were moved out of the building as the challengers changed and were given instruction on what they needed to do. You were given a tour of the map of Galar, seeing the order of the gym you had to challenge before competing in the Champion Cup at Wyndon. You learned that the first gym you were to visit is Turffield Stadium’s. Milo said he was from Turffield so you imagined he would be there. You were hoping to see him out here in this lobby, but he must have slipped out some other way.
“Leon, I’m sorry, I had no idea what was in that letter!” This is the first time you’ve been able to speak with him one-on-one since you were suddenly pulled into the opening ceremony. “I told Milo I wasn’t interested in the gym challenge, so I have no idea why he did that. I almost want to drop out, it just feels wrong for me to take up a spot…”
“No.” Leon steps closer to you, closing the distance between you enough for you to tilt your head slightly upwards to meet him in the eyes. “I’ll admit that I was hurt at first… I thought you didn’t want my endorsement. That Milo was special to you.”
Your face begins to feel a bit hot, you’re not sure such strong emotions like this exists over sports.
“And to think he was the person you happened to encounter in the Wild Area this whole time, and you had no idea he was a gym leader.” The gears are turning behind his gaze. “He must have seen something special in you. As Chairman Rose said, you’re being guided by your Wishing Star… I was there, I know what your wish was.” He hits a closed fist in an open palm, like he just decided on something. “No, you’re supposed to do this, don’t drop out. I think I can do it by the time you get to Wyndon, if you’re able to push through.”
That last part makes your brows knit and head tilt to the side. “Do what??”
Leon looks like he said something he shouldn’t have, backing up from you. “Nothing, absolutely nothin-”
“There you are!”
A hug glomps onto you from behind, and the impeccable turquoise nails on the hands clasped around your shoulders signal that it’s Sonia.
“What a total shocker this is! You should have seen Leon panicking earlier when he told me the news.” Sonia giggles in your ear, her breath tickling at your neck.
The Champion of Galar fidgets in front of you. “ANYWAY,” It seems like Leon doesn’t wish for Sonia to elaborate further. “I have to get to some work for the Chairman. I’ll text you two later, the gym leaders always have a get-together before heading off to their gyms.”
He waves and dashes off to the entrance, seeming to steel himself before going out to the public.
Sonia lets go of you and turns you around to face her. “It’s been a sec since I’ve last been to Motostoke, or hung out with any of the gym leaders in fact.” As if being reminded of something, she lets go of your shoulders and begins to text on her phone. “Actually my best friend is a gym leader, I’m sure she’ll be down for a cuppa before we head to dinner.”
She begins to walk absentmindedly towards the door as she texted with her friend, and you followed, feeling more lost than you did before. At least you could see all of Postwick, and everything seemed predictable and quiet. Now are you not only out traveling a country you barely know, but are participating in its most important sporting event without a clue of what you were doing. Everyone else moved around so naturally, and to you, everything’s foreign.
“Alright?”
You didn’t notice that Sonia finished what she was doing on her phone and looked over to see how overwhelmed you were feeling. Giving her a weak smile didn’t do anything to convince her that you were okay.
“I got it!” Her eyes sparkle a bit as she grabs your hand. “You know what you could use? A bit of shopping!”
~*~*~*~
You have to admit, shopping and gossiping with Sonia does make you feel better. She mostly talks to you about their time in the Wild Area after you separated, wisely gliding around moments that would remind you of the worry you put them through and highlighting the amount of times Leon would get lost. Things begin to feel normal again. Sonia is mainly looking through the glasses collection, asking which pair makes her look the most professorial, if that’s a word. You’re feeling like you should look more the part of a gym challenger, you buy some track bottoms and a matching cap, along with a pair of purple sunglass Sonia slips on your face to match your yellow jacket. You had quite the fashionable and colorful getup for a gym challenger, you think, looking at your clothes in a mirror. The less this is about getting lost and grimy in the Wild Area, the better.
Just as you both exit the store, Sonia’s Rotom Phone pops out of her bag and shows her a new text she received. “Brilliant!” She makes a couple taps before Rotom buzzes happily and flies back where it came from. “She’s meeting us at a cafe down the way! Just follow me~”
You stroll down the boulevard with her, looking around and taking in the scenery. The both of you pass buy vintage record shops and bookstores, all in their own ways inviting. Everything has been a rush since you arrived, but you hope to find an excuse to just look around Motostoke by yourself.
Eventually the two of you enter a trendy looking cafe, somewhere you could totally imagine Sonia meeting with friends of her. You scan the tables looking for a spot to sit when you see her:
“Nessa! Darling~”
Sonia moves to hug the gym leader, who was out of her league clothing and in fashionable clothing not too unlike the ones you’ve seen her model. Nerves all of a sudden wrack your body as they separate, and Sonia turns to introduce you.
“We’ve shaken hands before, but are you good with hugs?”
You’re shocked but begin to relax a bit when you give a friendly greeting hug to her. It makes you think, why are you nervous around her anyway?
Nessa gestures to the table she’s sitting at, which already has mugs of tea for each of you. “I got us all some Calm Mint tea, I hope that’s alright. I know I could use some calm after today.” She tests the temperature of the tea with a small sip before looking over to you. “You’re quite the interesting one, aren’t you? Wouldn’t have guessed you were acquainted with Sonia and Leon.”
You bring the tea closer to your noise so you can smell it. It indeed smells like what you imagine calm to smell like, soft floral and herbal notes stand out of the usual minty taste. “It’s all by chance really. I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time.” You think back to the dinner conversation you had with Leon back in Postwick, your first chance encounter with Milo, and shopping with Sonia.
Her eyebrows raise a little in response. “I guess I didn’t notice it during the ceremony, but that accent is Alolan, is it not?” After you nod, she sits back in her chair. “That makes more sense, you seem to both stick out and not really know what is going on.”
Unsure of whether she meant that as a critique or passing observation, you look down a little embarrassed. “I admit, I do feel a bit in the deep end at the moment. All of this is rather sudden.”
“Milo told me about what happened in the Wild Area. I guess you don’t really have places like that where you’re from.”
You get flustered under her gaze as she sips some tea, like she’s evaluating you. Sonia seems to pick up on this and changes the subject. “So Nessa, how are you and Milo doing? I know you both haven’t seen each other for some time, preparing your gyms for the challenge and all.”
“Oh yes, I meant to mention.” She sets down her cup on the table. “We broke up.”
What? Sonia is similarly shocked so you know this must be news to her.
“Really? When?? You were just talking about how you wanted to see him last night!”
“Just after the opening ceremony and before I came over here.”
She doesn’t seem said or upset at all, which confuses you.
“Nessa this makes it, what, the third time you two have broken up this year?” Sonia rolls her eyes and looks a bit unamused, but it seems more out of concern for her friend than any actual judgment.
“I think it’s for good this time. No really!” She responds to Sonia’s clear expression of disbelief. “We’re just really good friends and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just because we’re close doesn’t mean we need to be in a relationship. I mean, it doesn’t even feel like we are in one, things are just, well, normal.”
Sonia rests her chin into her palm and nods, as if she’s heard this before. “But you’re the one who keeps starting and breaking things off. Are you sure you’re not going to change your mind about it?”
“It’s for good this time, I swear!” She looks a bit indignant, which actually amuses you. It’s nice to know there’s a human behind what you see as a perfect mask. Nessa crosses her arms, looking more serious. “I told him that we’re rivals. No one sees us as a real challenge, and we’re not going to be taken seriously if we don’t get stronger. A Grass-type specialist is the perfect rival to help me rise to the top, and he could use any excuse to get more serious as a gym leader.”
“You’re serious? What did he say to that?”
Nessa frowns and picks her tea back up. “Oh you know, he just sort of laughed it off like he usually does. He said his only rival is himself or some nonsense like that. I think Milo feels nothing is really going to change between us, but it really is going to be different!”
You’re quiet for the most part, sipping on your tea as the two go back and forth. You can tell they’ve been friends for a bit. It felt good to be included, it’s nice to be around familiarity. Though it isn’t long until Nessa looks to you with a bit of a mischievous look.
“And what’s going on with you and Leon?”
The question hits you like a Wooloo Tackle from the side, making you sputter in your tea a bit. “I’m sorry?? What do you mean by that?”
Ness takes out her Rotom Phone, gives it a few taps, and shows you the screen. Opened up is the popular social media app Pokegram, and your eyes see pictures of you and Leon. “This is blowing up all over the place. Did you really not know?” In a post captioned Is Champion Leon Dating a Gym Challenger!?, there’s a few purposefully chosen pictures to make it seem you and Leon were intimate. The first was him hugging you at the entrance of Motostoke, then there ones of you entering the elevator at Budew Drop Inn together, him holding your hand going through the crowd outside of the stadium, and of course, his hug during the opening ceremony. Your eyes widen when you see the amount of likes, reposts, and comments.
“Oh my god.” Sonia gasps, looking at it from her phone. “We’ve been shopping all day, and no one knows your social names because you’re new here. So we’ve been oblivious this entire time!”
You’re stunned, sitting back in your chair. “How did they get all those pictures?”
“Sports fans are nuts here in Galar.” Nessa takes back her phone and scrolls through it some. “It’s not uncommon for us to have a stalking incident once in a while, all the gym leaders and Leon have to be extra careful of what we do out in the open. Especially Leon, who obviously has the most fans. I wouldn’t be surprised if Oleana is giving him an earful right now. The League is very controlling of our public image.” She looks over to you. “But it surprises me seeing all this, and it’s Milo of all people endorsing you for the gym challenge. Why didn’t Leon?”
It takes you a couple of seconds for the reeling in your brain to slow down enough to respond to her. “He did offer, but I said no. I wasn’t, and technically sorta still am not, interested in doing the gym challenge. I told that to Milo as well. So it was shocking to find out that he endorsed me. He just asked me to deliver a letter to the person at the front desk, he never told me that what was inside! I didn’t even know he was a gym leader!”
To your surprise, a small smile forms on Nessa’s lips. “I see, now I understand.”
You blink a few times under her gaze. “Understand…?”
Before she could reply, all three of your phones buzz. Your Rotom Phone zips out of your bag and opens up a text for you to look like. It’s a group text of mostly Galarian numbers you don’t recognize, from Leon and including Sonia. Seeing that Nessa got the text as well, you assumed it was to all the gym leaders.
It’s that time again everyone! Head on over to Huo Guo Hot Pot for our yearly celebration! Let’s start this year off with a Champion good time!
Don’t forget to thank our sponsors, Huo Guo Hot Pot, and take plenty photos for Pokegram!
(Oleana forced me to write that)
That’s right, Leon mentioned before there was a gathering happening. Given what you’ve just found out, you’re surprised he’s inviting you. Wouldn’t that just create more controversy?
~*~*~*~
Nessa leads the both of you to the restaurant, being the most familiar with Motostoke. You all chat pretty fluidly, any reservations you had being around Nessa washing away. It’s an important lesson about appearances, and giving everyone a chance.
You all eventually arrive to a restaurant with wooden finishing and lanterns, giving it a rustic and traditional style more akin to the Johto and Hoenn regions than anything in Galar.
“Despite being sponsors, everything here is really good. Kabu recommends this place whenever there’s a bunch of us in Motosoke.” Nessa mentions as she waves to the League official, who casts a suspicious look your way. “Both are with me.” They nod and hold the door open long enough for the three of you to enter.
Inside is actually quite spacious with many tables, but the only people inside seem to be associated with the League in some way. In the back corner of the restaurant you see some people waving, beckoning Nessa and Sonia over. You follow with a stone of anxiety in your stomach. In no way where you expecting this especially with everything that’s going on.
“Hello, hello! Make room for us why don’t you?” Sonia greeted, smiling and giving some shoulder pats and hugs. It seems like she’s already acquainted with most of the leaders, probably because she’s close with Leon and Nessa. As the text mentioned, it was a hot pot restaurant, and the current setup had four people sharing the same simmering pot.
“Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to a new friend!” You’re certain you blushed when Nessa announced that, both because you were hoping to maintain a low profile and also you didn’t realize she felt so friendly towards you already. Most people were polite, giving smiles, nods, and basic greetings.
“Oi! Yeah you, come sit with us!” You notice a rather tall man grinning and waving at you, and if you remember correctly, he was the furthest down the line of gym leaders when you were shaking hands, just before Leon. In fact, at his table were two, quite interesting people: Leon and Milo. “Just want to get to know you a bit.” He winks as you eventually nod and separate from Sonia and Nessa.
You sit down at the table with a bubbling pot that smelled of mushrooms and spices, next to the stranger and across from Milo, with Leon on the opposite corner of you. Both of the men you know looked incredibly flustered, with Milo looking down at his plate and Leon staring somewhere off in the middle distance. Things definitely feel… awkward.
“’Name’s Raihan, I’m the sorry bloke that has to clean up all of this guy’s,” He jerks his thumb towards Leon. “messes. I also have the best ‘gram feed in all the League.” He winks at you again, leaning back on his chair and draping his long arms on the back.
After introducing yourself, Raihan insists on following each other on Pokegram. You look up to Leon and Milo, who are still shifting uncomfortably on the other side of the table, busying themselves looking at the menu. “What’s wrong with them?”
“That’s what I wanna know, luv.” He peers at them over his phone, still scrolling. “They’ve been acting right daft all day, one thing after another. Figured you would be able to help me out here.” He looks back to what he’s looking at on his phone, eventually stopping on something. “You’re from Alola, right? Accent fits, you have that look to ya.” After you nod, he shows something from Pokegram to Leon and Milo. “Is this what’s got your fancy, mates?”
Both of them turn red. When you look, it’s just a normal picture of you at the beach back on Melemele Island. Sure you have a swimsuit on, but so does everyone at the beach?
“Raihan, stop.” Leon swats the hand holding up the phone, causing the Rotom to zoom away and float by Raihan’s head with a buzz.
“Oh now you want to speak up. Tell me why you got hands all over this bird out of nowhere.” He looks to you. “You’ve seen the pictures, right? I mean, you were there, given, well, you’re the bird.”
You blink a few times being asked so forwardly. “It’s all still a shock to me too. Leon was just being friendly, we were separated in the Wild Area and by the time I arrived here, I was running late to see my cousin in the opening ceremony. I don’t understand what all the fuss is about.”
Raihan smirks a bit, revealing his one sharp tooth that reminded you of a beast. “I see, I see. And Milo’s endorsement of you?”
Looking over to Milo, it seems like he wants to be anywhere but here.
“Not only did he endorse a complete random, no offense, but breaks up with Nessa on the same day. When they didn’t walk out the stadium together, fans went rabid with speculation.”
“She broke up with me. N-not that it’s a big deal!” Milo finally chances looking up at everyone. “We’re still good friends, there’s nothin’ awkward or anythin’.”
“Right, right farm boy, we get it. But why did you endorse this bird over here? Have you met before today? You know the League, and the fans, dig into the lives of challengers endorsed by League representatives.”
“I’d like to know too, Milo. I was so shocked.” Your voice is soft, almost like how you would talk to your Pokemon. “I’m not sure what you see in me to use your own name to endorse me.”
Milo shifts his weight in his seat, breathes in some air, and looks up at you through his bangs. “I’m sorry, I shoulda told you. But the way ya handled Pokemon out ‘n the Wild Area is remarkable! Watched three different Pokemon accept your ownership without battlin’. That’s rare and unusual! And…” He fidgets some more instead of finishing.
Both Leon and Raihan raise an eyebrow at you. “Three Pokemon? Which ones?” Leon asks, not having seen it for himself.
“Umm, let’s see, I think he means Wooloo, Lotad, who’s now a Lombre, and Pancham.”
Leon is shocked, and looks to Milo. “So you were with guy with the Wooloo? And who defeated the Seismitoad??”
Milo bashfully nodded, stealing a look at you before looking quickly back down at the menu as a waiter stopped by the table. It seems like someone put in an order for you all already, and various vegetables, meats, and dipping sauces were placed around the pot. “Sake for the table?” When you all nod, small tumblers are placed in front of you and filled up. “Please let me know if you all would like anything else.” They take the menus, bow, and leave.
Raihan is the first to speak, lifting his cup. “To a new gym challenge, yeah? Here’s hoping none get through me and I beat the pants off Leon.”
“Hey, wait-” Leon’s brows furrow, hand halfway to tapping Raihan’s. “I don’t want to cheers to that!”
“And what bollocks do you wish for? Is it…” Raihan looks over to you.
Before he can say anything else, Milo thrusts his cup in. “Cheers to that!”
You play along, not knowing what is going on with these three, but smiling as Leon and Milo begin to open up and talk about this year’s challenge. It’s obvious things aren’t resolved, and there’s more going on behind the scenes, but you put that aside as you remember how much you just enjoy their company. Raihan is an entertaining contrast to their personalities. Where they are earnest and fumbling, he’s smooth and brash at the same time. He easily convinces you into selfies, and you can see that the other two are staring.
The food is indeed delicious, and sharing dinner with the boys is fun. Sometimes funny moments will come up, like both Milo and you attempting to grab the same lotus root, and spending an entire 5 minutes offering it to the other. Or Raihan overzealously dipping his pork into soy sauce and splashing who you learned to be Gordie sitting at the table next to yours. You realize, when you just let go, things work themselves out, and all the tension melts. Yes, things aren’t resolved. But as you look out to this group of people, you sense a feeling of belonging, and you know they will be, in time.
~*~*~*~
After dinner, the group splits in different ways. Some call flying taxis, others head back to Budew Drop Inn, and some even walk off into the city without really saying where they’ve headed. You head back to the hotel, the group boisterous with a healthy amount of sake in them. The rest of the city is quiet but has a low hum with all of the steam-powered machinery at work. The train has stopped by now, but steam lazily hisses from various vents on the streets. Looking up, you can only see a few stars. You realize you haven’t seen a clear sky since you’ve left Postwick. Only fitting given how cloudy your path seems.
Early in the walk, you feel a tug on your sleeve, and you turn to see Milo trailing behind the rest of the group. You hang back until you’re matching his pace.
“Hey.”
“Evenin’.” He’s not looking directly at you, but you can tell he’s a little more at ease. “How are you feelin’?”
Walking with him reminds you a little of the time you spent together in the Wild Area. “Hmm, lost, but holding faith that I will find my way.”
The both of you walk a couple of paces without saying anything.
“I owe ya a better explanation for everythin’. Just been a bit out of my element today.” He exhales, looks at you, and then back forward. “While it’s true I’m impressed by your ability to attract Pokemon, there was another reason I gave you my endorsement.”
You can tell he’s trying to work up to something. Instinctively, you reach out to his shoulder. “May I?” When he nods, you place your hand on it. Like the rest of his body it’s well-built, your fingers lightly rub the muscle you find there.
“I also did it because…” You can hear him gulp a little. “I wanted us to have an excuse to see each other again. ‘n for you to come to Turffield.” He looks to you, searching your face for a reaction. “I’ve enjoyed the time we spent together so far.”
That’s when you begin to realize something about Milo.
He’s cute.
Like, really cute.
“So did I Milo. I’m happy to hear you feel the same.” Whenever the two of you pass by a street light, you try and take in all the feature you can see. The soft qualities of his face, the hard qualities of his body. Everything you’ve felt about Milo rolled into this experience you’re having now.
“Really?” He’s being bashful, which makes you want to tease him a little.
“Of course. And you didn’t have to go through all this to see me again. You could, you know, ask for my number.”
“R-right!” A few moments pass in contemplation. “May I have your number? Jus’ for keepin’ in touch ‘n all!”
Smiling, you offer Milo your phone, and he puts in his information. When he hands it back you send him a quick text.
so glad i met you, all the way back at route 1 <3
By now you’ve reached the Budew Drop Inn, and all that remains is Sonia, Leon, Raihan, Milo, and yourself. Others, Leon in particular, grab your attention away from Milo, tipsy and full of low giggles. Riding the elevator is when you find out Milo is staying with Raihan. When they move to get off, giving their parting goodbyes, the sake in your system emboldens you to hug Milo. You can feel he’s surprised, but eventually he returns the gesture. It’s possible he said something to you, but it was too soft for you to hear. All of you wave goodbye as Raihan drags him away from you and the elevator.
Feeling a pair of eyes on you, you turn around to your friends remaining. Sonia is fighting persistent yawning while Pokegram is showing on her phone. Shifting to look at Leon, you see that he’s been observing you for some time now. His expression is a mix between sleepy and conflicted, like he’s trying to figure something out by just understanding your features. Something in your alcohol-influenced brain decides that Leon also wants a hug, so you step over and wrap your arms around his middle.
His body stiffens for a moment, before relaxing and hugging you tightly. You only now realize how comfortable Leon feels, since he’s usually so uptight around you. Maybe it’s the exhaustion from the day, but you begin to drift asleep, closing your eyes and listening to the stead rhythm of his heart.
