A lot of women need to stop confiding in their male partners about past trauma or SA because some of these men get off on that and will try to exploit it to be your savior, or use it as ammo to hurt you emotionally.

I sometimes think about men have almost the same rights, body autonomy, freedom in every country while for women life looks so different from country to country or at least from region to region.
In some countries you're forced to cover your head, in others you're prohibited from covering your head and in other countries you can wear/not wear what you want. You can have an abortion in that country but not this one. You can get education, degrees and have paying jobs in most countries but not in others. You can go to a doctor if you need to but there you can't because women aren't allowed to become doctors and women aren't allowed to see a male doctor..
I sometimes think about how shitty the country i live in is but then i think well at least i can get an education and go to a doctor.. i shouldn't have to be grateful for those things..

Are there any radical feminist groups here with the purpose of collaborating on research and publishing articles? Tumblr is nice and all, but to make the good ideas here accessible, we need to present them professionally and credibly. I'd kill for a gc on reviving radical feminism in academia.

I want to make enough money to open up a female only Language Cafe in my town to teach all the non-english-speaking women both spoken and written English. I would pay the teachers really well. When the classes are finished we'd have support groups for abused women, endometriosis and pcos sufferers, new mums and expectant mums, miscarriages, things like that. Everyone in class or at the groups would get a hot meal, tea, coffe, and free sanitary items if they needed them. That's my dream tbh.

why are radfems against sex work?
i'd like to make a post to summarize my views on pornography, prositution, and other forms of sex work. it will be useful for me to have it all in one place, and i'll continue to update it as i learn more about the topic. i've broken down my arguments into three categories: demand, consent, and intimacy. there's a lot of overlap between the categories, but i still find it helpful to have it organized in this manner. ↶ೃ✧˚demand. ❃ ↷ ˊ- sex work creates a demand that will be fulfilled with sex trafficking.
let's imagine the best-case scenario: a woman doing sex work because she wants to. she genuinely enjoys this type of work, and her clients treat her well. this is understood by some to be "ethical sex work."
as a business, sex work must actively encourage the demand for sex work to keep increasing. porn industries want to create porn addicts. they want to create a pornsick society. that’s how businesses survive. it's horribly optimistic to imagine that every person who wants to use pornography or prostitutes will do so ethically (assuming that ethical sex work is possible). but let's imagine for a moment that ethical sex work exists, and that everyone who wants to consume sex work does so ethically. would there ever be enough women who are willingly going into sex work to satisfy this demand? as long as there is a demand, there will be sex trafficking to meet that demand. the “ethical” sex worker is a very very small minority of sex workers who throws every other sex worker and prostituted woman/girl under the bus for her own gain.
sex workers need men to use porn and prostitutes, and they will encourage men to do so. is this good for feminism? do you think these are good men? do you think these men respect the women in their lives? do they have healthy sexual relationships, or are they sexually reliant on static fantasies created by strangers who they have no personal connection or intimacy with?
↶ೃ✧˚consent. ❃ ↷ ˊ- consent can't be bought. consent can’t be bought--in fact, the mainstream conception of "consent" isn't one that respects women's sexual desires. it's a copout that allows men to do whatever they want to women, as long as the woman agrees to having it done to her. sex is something you do with someone, not to them. so many women (including myself) have uncritically consented to sexual activities in the heat of the moment because our minds were clouded by confusion, surprise, or anxiety, and we didn't feel like we could take a moment to think things through. think of it from the perspective of someone who uses a prostitute, in the best case scenario (in which the woman is pursuing prostitution of her own volition and not out of necessity): you found a woman who you're sexually interested in, but she isn't interested in you. instead of offering her a worthwhile sexual experience, you use your money to blow past her disinterest and buy her consent. you then begin to touch and penetrate a woman who wouldn't be interested in you if not for the money you offered her. you see no problem with this. since you are paying this woman, she is providing you a service. you have a one-sided sexual encounter where you use someone else's body to fulfill your own desires. think about the men who do this, and the men who consume pornography. how do you think they view sexuality? how do you think they treat their own sexual partners, after consuming so many static sexual fantasies that are devoid of any personal intimacy? ↶*ೃ✧˚intimacy. ❃ ↷ ˊ- i've decided to put "intimacy" at the end, because it is the most subjective of the three. upon reading this, it may become quite clear that these views are influenced by my personal experiences with sex work, sexual trauma, and christianity.
if you’re sex positive, you’ll be against porn. porn misrepresents sexuality by completely divorcing sexual pleasure from love, intimacy, and vulnerability. witnessing such intimate imagery of total strangers will inevitably mess up the way you approach your own sexuality, and the way you interact with sexual partners. porn puts a price on sexuality and makes it into something that can be bought and sold.  porn consumption encourages hookup culture

TW: FEMICIDE please interact.
24 recorded femicides in Greece in 2022.
"We grew up in the houses, next to the houses, over the graves of the women who "fell down the stairs", who were "accidentally hit by a passing car", who "stumbled on the pavement", who "fell on the street". Femicides are not just news headlines. They are the women we lived with. We live with them. Every femicide speaks for all of us. It talks about our mothers, our grandmothers, our neighbors, our friends, our sisters. Every femicide is our story. They are our roots. It is the graves that crush us and unite us." - Valia Tsirigioti, greek sociologist.
2023 statistics haven't been published, yet in the past nine months there have been atleast 10 recorded cases.
Despite the country's femicide outbreak during the past decade, the term "femicide" hasn't been officially recognized by the government, hence hundreds of cases have been reported as "homicide" or " product of domestic violence" and contemptuously "passion crimes". If the families victims didn't insist on using the term femicide for their loved ones' murders , their names wouldn't have been heard.
Vasiliki, 54, Konstantina, 28, Caroline, 20, Elene, 64, Garyfallia, 24, Maria, 43, Monica, 42. These are some of their names. The rest of them were forgotten and barely talked about by the media.
Protests lead to bloodshed - sabotage and violence coming from the police.
We are scared that a protest might be the cause of another femicide. Female protests are the most peaceful and yet male intervention makes them the most violent .
My own country is betraying me, I live by the fear I'm going to be next.

Marriage in general is fucked in the middle east..
I hate hate HATE living in a country where girls being married off at 15 is seen as something to be envious of.. is seen as something to be admired for..for fuck sakes! That's a fucking child!! I remember a classmate talking about i think a cousin of hers who's 15 who's married to a 29/30 year old man and how MUCH he LOVES her and how everyday he does her FUCKING HAIR FOR FUCKING SCHOOL!!!!
i saw a video of a 26 year old mother selling food on the street to make money and the top comment on that video was a man (sincerely) offering to marry her and he had like 100 replies of people asking him if he did it already and praising him for it..
And you know what's annoying is when i try to point out how fucked up those things are.. I'm almost always in the minority, I'm almost always argued against and people try to justify something like this by being like "this is our culture"....
fuck this culture and religion because you know damn well this shit is rooted in religion.. girls married off when they hit puberty to men twice their age is seen as an accomplishment.. men being encouraged to grace widows and divorced women with their kindness and marry them like they're broken or used (even if it meant getting a second, third or a fourth wife)...
And i know to most people reading this shit it sounds like I'm making it up but I'm not and you have no idea how much i wish i was..

It's intentional.
They're weaponizing pregnancy- keeping us under constant threat of forced, unsafe, financially burdensome pregnancy is a great way to roll back lots of women's (and anyone who can get pregnant) ability to be independent and not be trapped in unhealthy relationships for the sake of survival.
I want to be clear- I don't think that every single boots-on-the-ground prolifer is a raging misogynist. I *know* that a lot of them are well meaning, but uninformed people who have not been exposed to or educated on this issue in a nuanced and fact based way.
But the politicians and preachers who stand up on their podiums and push for their laws?
They *resent* women's lib and feminism. They resent the way that divorce laws and birth control and Title IX and increased education and career opportunities for women have led to a culture where it is possible and common for a woman to live a comfortable life without being married, where marriage is a choice among equals rather than an obligation and survival necessity. Where a woman can leave a relationship if she wants to with relative ease. Where being a mother is an option, not a duty. It takes away so much social power that men used to wield as a weapon. It used to be that a man just needed to be a better choice than homelessness and they could get a built in cook and maid and nurse, rather than having to be an actual viable partner. And abortion access is a big part of that.
(And you better believe that they absolutely see forced pregnancy as a way to prove that anyone who CAN get pregnant is obviously a woman and should be treated, poorly, as such. Their transphobia, misogyny, and bioessentialism are deeply entwined.)
I say this often, but the ability to get pregnant makes us a uniquely vulnerable class of people. It opens us up to a lot of potential abuse and risk, physically, financially, in our careers, in our relationships. And the tools we have to control our reproduction, if it happens, when it happens, ways to make it safer when we want it- birth control and abortion and prenatal care and safe c sections, paid parental leave, protections against work discrimination over pregnancy- help us manage and mitigate that.
So of course states with the states with the most horrific anti-abortion laws also have the least support for pregnant people. The *goal* is for people who CAN become pregnant to be increasingly reliant on their husbands (and oh, you better have one of those) by making a potential pregnancy something that is nearly impossible to get through alone with your quality of life in tact.
The cruelty is a feature, not a bug.

I remember when males on Reddit told me my moral compass was flawed because I said "so what?" in response to the Korean 4B women using "🤏" as a gesture to mock small penis sizes as revenge for their widespread abuse, sexual degradation, and torture.
Just goes to show how males will look for the smallest loophole they can find to turn things back on women. They will turn a blind eye to the nefarious actions of their peers, but the second a woman gives tit for tat, no matter how innocuous in comparison, then suddenly males become the morality police.

Feminism exists so that no woman ever has to face her oppressor in a vacuum, alone. It exists to break down the privacy in which men rape, beat, and kill women.—Life and Death (1997)
