You could probably take the "culture inspired by other cultures" while still being its own culture, and apply that to the wonton dumpling saga. ^w^
So many cultures have a recipe for a delicious filling inside a blessed little dough pillow, that you can eat with soup, sauces, or even by it's own. Grilled, steamed, cooked, fried, deep fried.
We have so many, just a few: Wontons Ravioli Maultaschen Pierogi Pelmeni Gyoza Kreplach Mandu Tortellini Momos Rissóis Pitha And so many more delicious variations. All very delicious, they all have their cultures, all their own unique twists, but they're all friends deep deep down in the DNA of their creation of being delicious lil filled dough pillows.
--
Momos from the Nepalese place a block away or beef and celery dumplings from the modern Chinese place a few blocks down...?
I guess I need to put on pants. Sigh.

There is no denying that dumplings are a comfort dish that will always please and fill you up. Jiaozi, or filled dumplings, have been a favorite food in China for more than 1,800 years. People from all across the world may now enjoy unique dumpling variations! You can't go wrong here, whether you've always eaten Chinese dumplings or want to try something new. There are several varieties to try while looking for "Chinese dumplings near me."Do you want to learn more? then continue reading. The best 7 Chinese dumplings for biting, slurping, and chewing are listed below.
Tumblr media
POTSTICKERS
Classic Chinese dumplings come in many different varieties, but pan-fried potstickers are one. They often have chicken, mushrooms, pork, shrimp, and ginger throughout and are formed like a crescent moon. These are created by heating a skillet with oil, adding the potstickers, and pan-frying them till golden brown all over. After that, add some water, close the cover, and steam the veggies for a short while. Once the potstickers have completed cooking, take the cover off and pan-fry them for a few minutes to make them crisp (and the water has evaporated). Although they may be eaten alone, most people like them with a dipping sauce such as soy, vinegar, or chile oil. As a result, be sure to test them.
DELIVERING IN WATER
Most likely, you imagine cooking dumplings when you think of them. Similar to potstickers, but cooked in boiling water rather than frying. They contain ingredients including pork, onion, cabbage, and ginger. After they've been cooked, you can eat them on their own, with soy sauce, or with vinegar. They taste better when combined with some noodles and added to the soup.
Ao Long Bao Xiao (SOUP DUMPLINGS)
A xiao long bao is an illustration of a steamed circular dumpling with "soup" within. If you've ever had dim sum, you've probably heard of xiao long bao. Although other components are frequently used, minced pork is the main component! Start eating xiao long bao by placing one on your soup spoon. If you pierce it when transferring the bao from the steamer to your spoon, all of the brothy deliciousness will be lost. You may either suck the broth off the skin of the dumpling or drink it from the soup spoon after taking a little bite out of the top or side of the dumpling.
BAO SHEN JIAN (PAN-FRIED SOUP DUMPLINGS)
They resemble xiao long bao, which is frequently filled with ground pork, although they differ greatly from their steamed relatives. Sheng Jian bao is pan-fried to the perfect crispness rather than steamed. They also have a doughy yeast coating rather than the thinner wrappers found on the bulk of other dumplings. Making sheng Jian bao is similar to making potstickers. You basically use the same methods to correctly cook these dumplings while maintaining a crispy texture.
WONTONS
Wonton is one of the most well-known kinds of Asian dumplings. It's a versatile dumpling that goes well with soup noodles or by itself with some chili crisp! These are frequently wrapped in paper-thin wheat skins and filled with vegetables, meat, or seafood. It is occasionally served with green onions, Napa cabbage, or bok choy strips in a clear broth. Furthermore, fried wontons are increasingly popular in Western cuisine. They were traditionally packed with the same ingredients as cooked ones. To please the westernized palate, Americanized wontons are deep-fried and filled with cream cheese.
GOW POW GOW
If you often eat dim sum, you may be familiar with this dumpling. This transparent shrimp, bamboo, and finely grated ginger-filled dumpling are enveloped in tapioca flour. While soy sauce may be used to consume har gow, some people choose to eat it without it to enjoy the fresh, light flavor of the dumpling and all of the shrimp within.
SHUMAI.
Now, har is usually served with shumai! This dumpling's distinctive quality is that it is essentially an open dumpling. The cylindrical form of the wrapper is commonly packed with ground pork, shrimp, and/or mushrooms, and occasionally a fish egg, shredded carrots, and/or peas. Shumai is often steamed but may alternatively be deep-fried.
At Roll and Bubble, you can now get the best dumpling in the UAE. You may also place orders via Talabat and Careem.

大家好! In a previous post, I mentioned that I'd try Ireland's sharp cheddar. Turns out, they call it mature cheddar but, a rose by any name, as the saying goes. The texture is very crumbly; although the cheese came in slices, it broke off easily between my fingers. Flavour-wise, it's more intense than normal cheddar. This would be better sprinkled over vegetables or pasta rather than eaten with crackers. They also have red cheddar, which I'll try next for my weekly simple breakfast.

Noodles, when cooked to QQ perfection, are a love language. From instant ramen hacks to scallion/shallot/chilli oil noodles and wonton/tomato egg/fish soup/bak chor/curry chicken/duck/char siew/seafood/lobster/prawn/hokkien noodles, char kway teow, mee soto, mee rebus, mee goreng, bee tai mak, laksa, pad thai, pho, glass noodles, udon, soba, la mian (handpulled noodles), ban mian (board noodles), dao xiao mian (knife cut noodles), guksu and ramyeon, this delicious staple has captivated the world. They've cast a spell over me for sure; I eat them at least once a week!
Tumblr media
I returned to the stall which sells dong bei leng mian (Northeastern Chinese cold noodles) as well as tomato egg noodles. This time I tried their hong shao pai gu dao xiao mian (braised pork rib knife cut noodles). This stall is manned by a middle aged couple from China. For $8, I got a good portion of meat, bak choy and hei mu er (tree ear mushrooms). Well marinated, tender pork, crunchy fresh vegetables, highly slurpable noodles and tasty clear broth, what's there not to like? They also have this dish in ma la soup, but I'll save that for the rainy months. I might try their jiao zi mian (dumpling noodles) next time I visit.

200 dead bodies have been uncovered at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis after Israel's attacks. 200 innocent civilians, patients who were receiving medical treatment. Anthony Blinken claimed without Blinken (pun intended) that reports show there has not been violation of human rights in Gaza. Really? If your elderly grandparents were receiving medical treatment at a hospital which was raided and they died, do you consider this a violation of human rights? I don't trust the US iro human rights any longer. Also, why is the rules based order endorsing Israel's genocidal attacks on Palestinians?
If the US champions women's rights, please tell me what you're doing about Palestinian women being so malnourished, they can't produce milk for their infants. Tell me what you're doing to address Israel killing thousands of Palestinian women. If you champion inclusivity, why are you excluding Palestine at the UN when most other countries support a two-state solution? The world is being held hostage by America and we don't like it. 下次见!

The past few days all food have been the Wrong Food. No food in the house looks good. No food at restaurants looks good. Even food I normally enjoy. The thought of it just makes me sick. So the past few days have been a No Food Eaten days until I'm so hungry I can't focus eye eyes enough to see through my cataract.
The Chinese place in the town over from mine makes the best wonton soup. They fill a pint/quart container full of dumplings and then ladle the most gentle and delicious soup broth on top so it's 60% dumplings and like 40% broth.
That's all I wanna eat.
I just wanna eat wonton soup. I've had it for dinner two nights in a row and it's so comforting. More than any chicken noodle soup I've ever had. I could eat this soup every day for dinner and be so happy.

大家好! In order to recover more quickly from a bad bout of the flu, I treated myself to a highly nutritious (also very yummy) meal last weekend. I first ate tomato scrambled eggs during a trip to Guang Zhou years ago and never forgot how delicious it was; as Chinese expats flock to my country, this dish can now be found anytime I crave it. I ordered it, and big prawn wat dan hor fun (flat and broad rice noodles in silky egg gravy). Eggs were the answer to every ailment when our country was poor decades ago and I still rely on them for extra nourishment.

More noodles were on the cards when I took Pa out for lunch the next day. He ordered yow gai meen (soya sauce chicken dry noodles); I chose shrimp wonton tong meen (soup noodles) and har gow (prawn dumplings). The noodles were so perfectly QQ here that they won Pa's and my hearts; at once springy and satiny smooth for both dry and soup versions, they were totally slurp-worthy to the point where I could easily eat double what I was served. Also, I visited a stall that specialises in salt-baked chicken and paired it with mee pok (flat egg noodles) soup. The tender and juicy meat didn't need much chewing; it was so good!

The fragrance of prawn noodle soup lured me away from the fishball noodle stall. Sweet fresh prawns, crunchy beansprouts, QQ mee pok (yes there're other noodles but mee pok is by far my favourite) and a full-bodied broth are hard to beat. I also enjoyed mee siam, a savoury and tangy vermicelli breakfast dish with egg, tau pok (bean puff) and fish cake. Besides mee siam, the stall I visited sells lontong: rice cakes topped with vegetables, egg and fish cakes, doused in fragrant curry gravy and drizzled with sambal. I tried it for breakfast the next day and it was both rich and flavourful.

This week has been a noodle-heavy one and I couldn't be happier! At the same time, those of us who enjoy peace, nutritious meals and good sleep are incredibly blessed. Those ravaged by war, with electricity, water and food cut off, are denied those basic human rights that we take for granted. As I tuck into silken strands as well as delightful broths and gravies, people who're suffering immensely are on my mind. All I can do is pray that compassion and rationality will eventually prevail, and soon!
Tumblr media
During times of peace, everyone enjoyed higher standards of living. Food, water, electricity and shelter were plentiful and costs were low. Now, it feels like we're back in the 1980s as far as real incomes are concerned; travel is a luxury that we'll be doing less of, or perhaps we won't travel as far. Also, why pay premium to visit countries that may be unfriendly to us? 下次见!
