Story time!! After I had decided to retire my baby Jett, I took a few years off from riding. I couldn’t afford to responsibly keep another horse, and after riding and competing since I was 8, I was a little burnt out. After a few years away, I decided to take some lessons at an actual eventing barn, and attended my first lesson at Frazier Farm. I was 40 pounds heavier than today, but this little saint, Karen, helped get my butt back in shape. Little chestnut mare Karen helped me gain confidence after not riding for a few years, and I even got to compete her a few times! She was an awesome schoolie with a ton of heart, and even in her old age, still loved to jump! So today I say thank you to Karen, for helping me re-ignite my passion for riding, and making me feel confident enough to compete again, even when I was really, really out of shape!! Just a little mini update on my new health and fitness journey. 15 days ago I decided to start undergoing a huge lifestyle change. I started eating clean and working out on a close to daily basis. As well as challenging myself to ABSOLUTELY no fast food for 30 days. Well I am halfway through that challenge and could not be more proud of myself. (Those of you who know me know I love my Taco Bell 😂) It certainly has been one of the most challenging things I have ever tried to do for myself but I am so happy that I have made this decision. Only 2 weeks in and I already feel so much better, I am seeing these tiny improvements in my body as well as my self esteem. I know its still very early in this new found lifestyle, but I am just so thankful that I had the drive and motivation to make these changes. Ran a full 5K on the treadmill a full 5+ minutes slower than my first time--definitely not what I was hoping for, but at least I did it! And on a Sunday to boot!
