ICYMI: @teamtotzek gave the undefeated Italians quite a chase at the #ECC2022 earlier today. The 3 vids showcase highlight reel worthy shots & great teamwork. LOL “Plan A the lucky way” 😂 I know it’s a bummer my Germans couldn’t pull off the win, but nevertheless, I am so proud of how they’ve done so far. Both the loss to SCO & ITA were in tight, close games. My Adings are hanging in there against the medal favorites. Going into the event my ideal situation was a SWE v GER final because by now we all know I love the Germans the most after the Swedes. With the way things are going, SWE & GER might be fighting over that last playoff spot at the end of the week. If they finish w/ the same records it’ll come down to LSD which I believe is on SWE’s side, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. I’m just glad my Germans are the silver lining to this event - I’m going through massive Nik Edin withdrawal & no patch can help (that’s a dad joke). Team Canada skipped by Tyler Tardi defeated Switzerland today 9-4 at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool. Japan were 11-3 winners over Russia in Saturday morning’s qualification games at the LGT World Women’s Championship in Silkeborg, Denmark.

Japan will face Olympic champions Sweden.

The Russians blanked the first end, and, in the second end, their skip Alina Kovaleva played a hit on a Japan stone to score two points and open the scoring.  

A key point of the game came in the fourth end when Kovaleva came up short of the house with her final draw, to give up a steal of four points to Japan, who moved into a 6-2 lead.

In the sixth end, Japan’s fourth player Ikue Kitazawa played a hit on a Russian stone to score two more points and move on to an 8-3 lead.  

After giving up a single-point steal in the seventh end, in the eighth, Russia’s Kovaleva could not get inside two Japanese stones already lying in the house and Japan stole two more points. Russia then conceded with the final score at 11-3 to Japan.  

The Japanese now go on to face Olympic champions Sweden in their semi-final.

Afterwards, Japan’s skip Seina Nakajima said, “For this game we had really good communication and that’s why we were able to play well.”  

When the high percentage levels achieved by her team in this game were pointed out to her, she added, “compared with our earlier games our play is getting higher and higher, and now we want to continue that into the semi-final. Although we were defeated by Sweden last night [in the final round-robin game], we’re now just going to prepare ourselves for meeting them again.”

Congratulations are in order for @team.minera.skifer for going 2-0 on day one of the 2021 World Men’s Curling Championships. Woohoo #undefeated so far 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Keep it up guys! . . I watched the first game on the WCF’s FB page but watched draws 2 & 3 over on YouTube and man, there are some toxic trolls in the YouTube chat. I felt like I was over at Twitch watching a gaming stream. There’s always talks about curlers’ appearance, including one over a Japanese curler who has been dealing w/ health issues the past year. I called out the woman who made the comment & she apologized. One thing’s for sure, the #beanie is a hit! Someone in the YT chat said he wanted one. I told him I got mine years ago so I’m not sure if they’re still available. Glad I have my beanie though so I can cheer on the #Norwegians - even if it’s by proxy via #BabyYoda because it’s 70 degrees in San Diego and I can’t wear a beanie right now. Given all the Twitter activity between hats & socks lately, we might be on the verge of a Twitter account devoted to the Norwegian flag beanie 🤔 . .
