Wu Xie: I love hearing Wu Erbai shouting at someone else. It makes such a nice change.

Finding out that his nephew was in a relationship with Zhang Qiling was a rough time for Wu Erbai.

See on one hand, this equation does not add up to an heir, so it should be discouraged... but on the other hand, how do you even phrase this concern in a way that can't be taken as you thinking that the Zhang patriarch is not good enough for you? Because THAT would be the level of fighting words even Fo Ye's faction might set their differences with the main branch aside just to get offended over it.

He keeps worrying over the matter until he gets a rather gruff call from his older brother. See, HE already told Wu Xie that it was all fine and it's very nice of Erbai to be so concerned about the legacy of the family, but it would be even nicer if he remembered exactly whose son they are talking about here. If Erbai wants a kid to boss about, no one's stopping him from making one. Or adopting. There's a thought.*

*Wu Yiqiong isn't being exactly fair here and he knows it. When Wu Xie told his parents both him and his parents assumed the other party will inform Ershu, and then neither did, so he was out of the loop for a long while. ...But he can't help feeling a bit smug over being told first for once.

Also, while on the phone Wu Yiqiong plays it off like the whole coming out thing went like a breeze, in reality things came very close to going ballistic. Not even over Wu Xie being gay - that he suspected and took with resigned acceptance - but when he realised that this Xiaoge character was the same man his son got so bent out of shape and heartbroken over all those years ago. That was when Wu Xie had to sit his parents down and explain the whole Bronze Gate thing in enough detail to make them understand Xiaoge's reasons, where he went, what it cost him and why Papa Wu definitely shouldn't sick his dogs on him please and thank you.

He knelt down, the stench of refuse curdling in his nose as he lifted Xiao-Ge into his lap. Xiao-Ge rolled limply in Wu Xie’s arms, his face still and his breath quiet. Xiao-Ge had come to save him. Xiao-Ge was hurt because of him.  The thoughts whirled around and around in Wu Xie’s mind, caught in a whirlwind of fear and nausea. He had to get Xiao-Ge to safety, but was there time to carry him away? A head appeared over the wall, glaring down at him with venom. A second head joined.  Wu Xie lay Xiao-Ge down, standing between him and the Wangs, who now perched on top of the wall. He had lost his grip on the wrench when Xiao-Ge had tackled him. He was completely unarmed. He reached blindly towards an abandoned dining room chair, snapping off a crooked leg and wielding it like a club. If these men wanted to kill him, he’d take them down with him and protect Xiao-Ge. It was the least he could do.

7. Non-con/Taboo ship

See, this one is really hard. I'm not exactly sure what classifies as a non-con or taboo ship. If I say Wu Erbai and Er Jing (TLTR)? Lord, that is a wild idea that I saw only a couple times, but I feel like if anyone, they classify as a taboo ship. But idk, to be honest.

9. Wish-was-endgame ship

Oh man, I have so many! But lemme just pick one. Hmm… let's go with Pingxiesang? Because like, I really liked their interactions and I just- I really love them. And we didn't even see Liu Sang at the end of Reunion!! And I was like what?? Seriously? Even though he really warmed up to the Iron Triangle and was literally accepted into their group. And we never even learned what happened to him after the story was over and I was just really annoyed by that. So yeah, I really wish Pingxiesang, even if just as a platonic ship, appeared at the end and showed that they care about each other.
