I find it interesting how we’ve never seen Jacaerys show any interest in women. Even in being betrothed to Baela, they act more like cousins than anything. His dance with Helaena was done almost entirely out of spite for Aegon, whom we’ve seen him show more interest in/affection toward as a child than anyone else. Then we have Cregan, whose relationship with Jacaerys in the book is…a whole other story. Jacaerys seemed quite fond of him in the short scene we got in the show too.

i’m gonna make a lot of people angry by saying this but i agree. i don’t think it’s any fault of the actors but jace and baela do not come off as a romantic couple at all. that’s entirely due to how condal & co chose to write them and their lack of scenes that would imply they’re anything other than close family. it’s unfortunate because i’d really like to see them explored more and they’ve already treated baela’s character poorly enough as it is. i highly doubt we’ll even get a kiss between them before jacaerys dies.

it’s obvious i’m a big jacegon shipper and, regardless of whether you view it as platonic/familial or not, the way they acted together as kids and the tension between them during the dinner because of that fallout is undeniable. we haven’t seen jace act the way he did with aegon with anyone else. i think some people downplay how much he looked up to aegon as a child (as they do with all of aegon’s relationships), especially considering it’s the reason why things were so tense between them after aegon very publicly betrayed him in 1x07. i’d argue that “everyone knows. just look at them.” coming from someone he admired so much is one of jace’s biggest reasons for feeling so inadequate his whole life. this got out of hand lmao but YEAH i think it’s interesting how affected jace and aegon are by each other and i do not see it as entirely platonic.

jace and cregan are a whole other story indeed. i’m not much of a jacegan shipper but cregan’s devotion to jace long after his death is interesting to say the least. i never bought into the whole sara snow thing and the absence of her in the show doesn’t bother me since it’s up in the air whether she existed at all and i take everything mushroom says with a grain of salt. i like the ship more as an idea. them seeing themselves in each other, jace finding someone he can be more comfortable with, and them finding a sort of intimacy in that. another instance where the he chemistry between them is pretty apparent and it helps that harry and tom are such good friends outside of the show.

i think there’s a reason why jace is normally written as gay in fanfics where he’s paired with a man, while the other party is usually written as bisexual. i wouldn’t go as far as to say that the showrunners write him that way intentionally because that would be giving too much credit to someone like sara hess who has called hotd “the gayest show on tv” for reasons beyond explanation.

i’ve always seen show jace at least as being more interested in men because that’s what we’ve been given. book jace is another story and harder to pin down. ultimately, i agree with you!

I've read the archival material of a lot of men right into modern times who would have a very fake but very intense looking romance with a dying woman who was often their very good friend so he could go a good twenty years before anyone bothered him about producing heirs like "oh the poor man lost his great love let us leave him alone to mourn in his sad bachelor state." Like yeah nah he's been living with his boarding school blow buddy for 30 years. Or gay men who would marry widows quite a bit older than them, adopt her children and spare themselves the act of reproduction. Then be described as being inseparable from their valet who apparently saved their life in the Crimean war or some shit. (They're gay.) In a lot of times and places in history, it was the rejection of the bourgeois respectability and the social responsibility to marry and reproduce that was unacceptable rather than just same-sex love. Or to have children and a household was a very powerful shield against social exclusion or legal punishment.

So yeah, the prickly question of Arthur's sexuality and how it effected family life occupies my brain a lot and not just my shitposts about Matt sleeping in the barn because his parents are railing lmao. How it makes his children, especially Alfred but all of them, social currency. How creating this illusion of a family life forms them and keeps them safe as almost-human creatures with almost human rules in a human world with human rules.

Felt like writing some headcanons and fun facts for some of my beloved Disney-OC's, since I haven't talked about them in a really long while + I love them a ton, they deserve more attention from me anyway 🥺

This post will get long, so lol, sorry in advance! I ramble a lot <3

Miles (McLeach's son):

Miles might now be a much more calmer and patient adult... but as a kid, he was an absolute menace. Always loving to pull some pranks on his father and anybody else unfortunate in his close vicinity. He was mischievous and quite hyper too, climbing onto anything and anyone. Or breaking furniture by climbing on surfaces, lamps etc and knocking them down. He basically had near never-ending zoomies, lmao /j

Miles's second name is Ronnie. Though he only ever uses it as a name for his disguises, if he needs to hide his identity from the authorities.

Miles hates 'Mother's day'-holidays, though for a good reason. As he deeply dislikes his mother for various reasons. He hasn't had an easy childhood

Miles loves playing the guitar or singing sometimes (much like his father), even if he's not good at it.

Miles and Alice didn't get along well after they first met, and they still do bicker from time to time. Fighting or pranking each other a lot. Which causes people often to mistakenly think that they're siblings, when they're actually not. Though yeah, they still do act like they're siblings. Miles can be pretty protective over Alice and defends her from dangers if ever necessary, meanwhile Alice often helps him out too if ever needed. Despite seeming like rivals, they actually deeply care about each other.

Miles would probably be in his late 60's now in 2024 (as during RDU's events, he's 35).... yeah, terrifying, isn't it? My guy is so old, he's ancient- /j

Alice (McLeach's henchman / sort-of adoptive daughter):

Alice is a rude loudmouth, who cusses and curses a ton. She's the type of person, who will let her opinions be known and she doesn't respect the law. She's one heck of a fighter too, able to defend herself if ever necessary.

Alice loves 1980's music, especially 80's pop and rock! Her favorite bands are Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears.

Alice is terrible at cooking... when in all honesty, everybody in the McLeach household is terrible at cooking any foods. There's a kitchen fire at least once or twice a week. /j

Alice is bisexual, but prefers women.

Alice is skilled in shoplifting, pickpocketing and vandalism.

Alice is rather secretive when it comes to her past and she doesn't like talking about it, due to various reasons; one being that she's had a rough tragic past. And other being that she's actually a fugitive in another country, which she had to flee from some years ago before meeting McLeach.

One of Alice's favorite pastime hobbies is fixing old computers and other electronics. She often helps McLeach out gladly, whenever it comes to any mechanical work or modifying electronics.

Alice also likes to collect different kinds of knives, just for fun mainly.

Ophelia (Sykes's daughter):

Ophelia doesn't have many friends, in fact she's never really had any. She often spent time in various dinner parties etc held by her father's rich influential friends, but she never got along well with the other children there. She was teased in school, when she was little. But even after telling about it to her protective father; she was completely left alone by the bullies and teachers afterwards, but because of everyone becoming extremely afraid of both her and her father. Thus avoiding her altogether or acting cautious around her.

Ophelia used to wear ribbons on her hair nearly all the time in her childhood. And now she likes to have a typical big 1980's hairstyle, because she can <3

Ophelia can be quite charismatic. But not exactly a very sociable person, often preferring to spend time either alone or with her father only.

Ophelia loves her father's dogs. She spoils them rotten often with expensive meat or treats (much to her father's dismay), or takes them on walks. She's the type of person who would get the dogs those really itchy-looking dog sweaters for Christmas, lmao

Ophelia is good at playing the piano, playing the violin, playing tennis, dancing ballet, boxing and also acting. She had lots of hobbies as a kid and overall she had lots of after-school activities. She also had excellent grades in every school she attended.

Before she turned to the criminal lifestyle, she used to work as a secretary at a highly regarded unnamed company. She grew bored of the mundane office work though and eventually got laid off too, due to some issues within the company. Incredibly bitter by this, she decided to turn to life of crime, as she found it quite natural to herself. It just seemed much more fascinating and thrilling than boring paperworks.

Zachary (Rourke's son):

Zachary might look intimidating with his tall height (as he's around 190 centimeters tall, much like his father) and muscular large build. He's however a kind gentle guy, quite sensitive and a bit shy too.

Zachary is quite strong too, but has never been fond of fighting or combat. Much to his father's dismay though, as he then is a combative argumentative person. Meanwhile Zachary does everything to avoid arguments or conflict.

Zachary is a very artistic person, as he's always loved arts and painting. Drawing and doodling all sorts of things, and admiring the creative beauty in nearly everything. He enjoys things that are aesthetically pleasing to him and he often gets inspired easily by his surroundings.

Zachary is basically the total opposite personality than that of his father's, lmao. They're complete opposites, despite having similar appearances. Thus their relationship has never been exactly the best, but rather distant instead.

Here's yet another Spy x Family ramble post since those seem to do well here lmao

It's about Yor this time!

Originally I just wanted to talk about one headcanon I had for her, but then I figured, why not talk about a few while I'm here? Considering how much I talked about Twilight in the last two posts alone, Yor deserves some rambles from me.

Anyway, first headcanon: she's autistic. Like, I got some vibes when I first watched the anime, and saw how she took her coworkers' joke to blow snot (I watch it dubbed, don't judge me) in someone's coffee seriously, then being told she's "unique". Then she constantly worries about appearing normal in front of people, and not just because she's a single woman at 27 (which happened to be the age I was when I first got into Spy x Family). She even has "unconventional" hyperfixations (on knives or other sharp weapons), and clearly has major social anxiety. Basically, Yor screams autistic/neurodivergent vibes. Honestly, the whole Forger family does, but Yor is especially blatant for me as I'm also autistic. So, yeah. Yor is autistic because I said so 😂

Another headcanon I'm projecting onto her is that she's part Filipino (I know the series takes place in a semi fictional world where even though it's inspired by our world, it's not exact). This came from a fanfic I found where Yor takes care of a sick Loid and, thinking he's sleeping, opens up a bit about her mother being from the Philippines. Even the author was projecting this because they too are Filipino, and guess what? So am I! Well, only by a quarter, but that still matters! I also know I'm not the only fan that headcanons Yor (and Yuri) to be Spy x Family's equivalent of Asian, so my interpretation (as well as the author of that fic) is just one of many 🥰

Next, here's a headcanon that I'm NOT projecting onto her: she has a rose tattoo on her abdomen. This idea came about after listening to Victoria Beckham's song "Not Such an Innocent Girl", specifically the lyric about having a secret rose tattoo. I was struck by the thought that Yor would totally rock a rose tattoo (especially if it had thorns, 'cause Thorn Princess), and that it would definitely be kept a secret for several reasons. It clearly can't be on any of her limbs, so it would have to be somewhere on her torso. I looked up several examples for ideas, and this one is my favorite:

Also, I realize that this particular headcanon is the least plausible of what I talked about here so far, but I don't care. I'm letting the Yor in my head rock this tattoo 'cause she would look great with it! 😤🌹

Now this one, I'm not sure if it's merely a headcanon or borderline canon without being explicitly stated, but I have seen this topic come up every now and again. Without getting too deep into it for now, I'll just say: Yor is a virgin, but she still knows what sex is 😳

ahem, moving on.

This is the last headcanon I'll share for now, and it's something I briefly mentioned before: Yor is bisexual. Like, I'm a major Twiyor, obviously, but I'm not blind to how she and Melinda interact with each other (also, Melinda is straight up a lesbian, but I digress). I have a love-hate relationship with this phrase because reasons, but I still think it's valid to say that Yor has two hands. She deserves a husband and a girlfriend 😏 (let's just hope that Melinda doesn't turn out to be evil 💀)

I'm bored so here is me telling y'all my favorite tropes for TiPo that I love to read/write (warning some parts are le spicy-) sorry this is gonna be looooong

Love that so many people in the fandom read the scene where Sirius is too busy silently communicating with James to notice a girl eyeing him and immediately went “ah, Sirius is a player and dates/hooks up with people frequently.” We never see anyone canonically confirmed to be his ex or current significant other, and Sirius himself was more focused on the war than romance (16 year old Sirius hears people discussing their relationship drama and mostly wants to know why the hell that is a priority, surely the increasing number of homicides happening outside would rank higher on the list of concerns.

I could go both ways on this one! I absolutely do lean more towards Sirius not being a player, obviously. He has too much other shit going on during the first war, and also he's obsessed with James. And yes, we have that canon scene where he Does Not Notice a girl staring at him.

But I also don't mind player Sirius that much! I mean, when the het writers write him as a heterosexual player, that's obviously laughable. The Sirius/OFC people are obviously extremely divorced from reality and are just writing self-insert fic (nothing wrong with that but I WILL make fun of it on my own blog lol). But I can see chaotic bisexual Sirius Black hooking up with lots of different people, though we don't have any canon evidence of that. I don't see him really being invested in any of them, though. They're just to let off steam.

(I also would really love to see aroace Sirius someday, especially in a post-POA fic. But unfortunately whenever Sirius isn't romantically paired with Remus, people then pair Remus with Tonks by default, which I of course despise. Let him be gay even when he's not with Sirius ffs! But yes give me aroace Sirius rights PLEASE)

But exclusively gay people can definitely be biphobic, and in fact, they often are, sometimes more than straight people.

Next: Saying “I’m so gay” is very different from saying “He’s a gay man”.

I’m not the same, and it’s an erasure of my identity as not multi-gender attracted to tell me not to label myself appropriately. It is homophobic to erase that aspect of my identity the same way it would be biphobic to erase a bisexual man’s attraction to women and insist that he’s strictly gay.

So let me be crystal clear: When I say Henry is gay-coded, I mean he’s coded as a homosexual. Your opinion on labels has no bearing on what attraction he displays or doesn’t display. Homosexual ≠ bisexual.

Henry does not display multi-gender attraction. This precludes him from the bisexual label.

Lofty of BBC's Holby City was maybe one of the worst characters on the show. Is this a hot take? Do people outside of me and my family somehow adore Lofty? I can't imagine how. Here is my hateful mean and nasty reasoning. Read at your own risk I'm not accepting criticism at this time lmao:

A) he was effective comic relief on Casualty because it's the Emergency Department and moments of Lofty tripping over or doing a social faux pas are necessary tension breakers in episodes where people are constantly at deaths door.

Casualty is (when it's GOOD) required to have at least a third of the episode dedicated to a narsty horrible accident (hell yeah) and tensions are always running high so you can see how having someone a be awkward is not going to be the worst thing that happened to them that day.

Holby City is a more hospital staff focused show (although again. If there's less than a third of an episode focused on patients it is probably a bad episode. PLEASE HAVE PATIENTS IN YOUR HOSPITAL SHOW.) but there's a lot of waiting around for people in Holby because it's the longer term care zone. If Lofty is dropping stuff in the background of scenes with this lower energy it suggests he has some sort of untreated disability rather than 'argh I'm frantic OOPS'. He is painted more as incompetent on Holby compared to their more grounded staff. Which makes everyone ELSE look incompetent for putting up with it. (To be clear!!!! I'm not saying people with disabilities are incompetent lol if he had one it would have been a storyline!! And if he had one and none of the doctors who see him every day flagged it it also makes them look incompetent. He doesn't CARE enough to be CAREful. And in a show ABOUT caring for vulnerable people as far as you absolutely can. That's a big problem.)

Like the thing is. Characters on Casualty can be one note architypes forever because they're doing medical CSI. Holby spends so much more time with the cast, they NEED to become more complicated and Lofty never does, he's the same guy no matter what happens. The only other guy like that in Holby is the incomparable Guy Self and he's a villain! He is a villain for never changing or trying for anyone! And even he TRIES to reform occasionally. Lofty (and the SHOW) doesn't see a problem with him perpetually disengaging from making emotional choices, putting most of the work of maintaining relationships on other people, and generally coasting through a profession that everyone else is giving 110% to. The building could be on fire and he'd wander outside and not think to rescue any of the patients unless someone else told him to.

B) the B is for Bisexual. Bisexual representation on Holby City where he cheats on his husband with a woman. It's a yikes from me.

C) speaking of Dom. God their relationship was horrible. POOR FUCKING DOM. tw abuse. Lofty talks to and believes Dom's abusive ex over him? He hugs the guy that RECENTLY pushed Dom down a flight of stairs? And they're still supposed to be a cutesy couple by the end of this? He shuts down Dom's excitement constantly? Hello??

D) the D is again for Dom because. It's their one year anniversary. By the way it was on their honeymoon that Dom couldn't go on to support his sick mother that Lofty cheated on Dom. Just by the way. BY THE WAY if your husband says he's going to stay home for your honeymoon and insists you go by yourself so he can stay home to support his sick mother. Maybe. Hm. Stay and support him instead. Just a fucking thought.

Lofty decides it's not working and they amicably split up (Dom is an angel sent from gay heaven by the way. I perhaps have my biases.) Dom kindly gives him the quirky and personal gift he'd bought him for their one year wedding anniversary as Lofty unicycles away (it may have been a bicycle but I picture it as a unicycle). Lofty gives him. Nothing. Which means that this man sat there as they planned a big anniversary party and not ONCE. not ONCE did he consider buying Dom an anniversary present. Because he's an arse!!!!

E) he only does this :| or this :/ for any emotion. I love characters with flat affects, for example my close personal friends Hannah Supernatural, Abed Community, and also as well my actual real human friends who do this 💖💖💖. HOWEVER. Lofty doesn't show emotion any OTHER way either. There IS nothing going on in his heart. He has passion for nothing. He goes where other people point. He avoids giving his opinion because he doesn't have any. This makes him a bad tv character for a drama. Opinion IS story on Holby. There is an issue, they all take sides and fight over it, and he doesn't get involved.

Anyway. Show's been over for over a year I will never have to see Lofty's face ever again as long as I live unless I for some reason decide to do a bizarre Holby City Rewatch and keep going to season 19.

By the way as I was looking up when he came to the Holby side of Holby City Hospital, I found this quote from his wiki page:

"Lofty is portrayed as a nice person who is likeable and popular."

Hm. He IS PORTRAYED as a nice person. The show thinks he's a nice person who is likable. However.
