Yelena: What’s the rule?
Y/N, sighing: No cake after dinner.
Yelena: No, that’s Nat’s rule. My rule is that you need to bring me a slice as well.

Pretty One
Pairing(s): Yelena Belova x Fem!Reader
Summary: A quiet day with your girlfriend ends with you having to leave your home when Natasha shows up in search for Yelena.
Word Count: 1,454
Warnings: Violence
Authors Note: This is based off of/inspired by the scene from Black Widow!
Tumblr media
You were currently laid on the sofa, snuggled up to your girlfriend. Her head rested on a pillow against the arm of the couch whilst your head was lying on her shoulder, her arms wrapped securely around you.
She had returned from a quick trip to the corner store just a couple hours ago for some basic food items when you got comfy on the cushions, and turned on some random show on the television.
You were quite interested in the show at first, but that was before Yelena began to card her fingers through your hair and caress your back with her calloused, yet extremely gentle hands.
The comforting actions from her had you dozing off. Not into a sound sleep per say, but into a very relaxed and tranquil state, so you were no longer focused on the show that still lightly ran in the background.
Yelena on the other hand was unsuccessful with paying attention to the plot at all when she had what she believed was a real life angel laying right in her arms, toying with the strap of the white tank top she wore.
Your mouth opened into a yawn as Yelena continued to play with your hair, "Tired? I know you didn't really sleep that well last night." she asked.
You shook your head, "No, just really content with you." you mumbled in response.
Yelena never thought she could make anyone feel anything other than pain and suffering after her time in the red room. But then she met you who introduced her to the world of emotions; the main one being love. The kind that everyone hopes and dreams for, but not everyone gets.
She turned to kiss your temple, "I love you, detka (baby), so much." she whispered against your head. "I love you too, Lena." you said the words back to her with just as much meaning.
A few moments of comfortable silence went by before she spoke up again, "What if we just ran away." she suggested.
"Ran away?" you repeated with a giggle and she hummed, lightly chuckling.
"Yeah, you know just go wherever our hearts take us and never look back." she elaborated on her out of the blue idea.
"Where would we go?" you questioned.
Yelena shrugged her shoulders, "Anywhere you want to." You thought for a moment before responding,
"I've always wanted to go to London."
"Then we'll start with London. And then maybe we'll go to Paris because it's the city of love, and well, you are my love." she said, making you giggle once again.
You continued to talk about that for a little bit before returning to the calming quietness of just your slow breathing and the television. This time you both had almost fallen asleep until Yelena froze. If there was anything being a trained ex assassin had given her, it was heightened senses.
She knew that something was not right, and the fact that she had you with her right now made her protective instincts immediately set off sirens in her brain.
"You okay, Lena?" you asked, feeling her body suddenly tense up.
Yelena gently sat up and untangled herself from you, making a frown form on your face.
"Where are you going?" you asked, opening your eyes to see her standing up.
"Dorogaya (darling), I need you to go into the other room and stay there. Do not come out until I come to get you myself." Yelena tells you.
"What?" you sat up in confusion.
"I know this sounds weird but I just need you to trust me, okay?" she spoke as she pulled a gun out from under the couch cushion, making your eyes slightly widen.
"What— what's going on? Is someone here?" you said in a panic, watching as she slipped on her blazer that was laying on a chair.
She contemplated her next words as she didn't want you to scare you, but she also didn't want to lie to you, "That's what I'm going to find out. But first I need to know that you're safe before I go anywhere. So please, just trust me." Yelena spoke softly to calm you.
You hesitantly nodded your head, and she took that as her cue to take your hand and lead you to the other room. She stopped in front of your wardrobe and opened the door, "Stay here, and wait for me to come get you."
She pressed a kiss to your forehead after you sat down. You murmured an 'Okay' before she shut the door and her footsteps disappeared down the hallway.
~~~
Meanwhile, Yelena made sure her gun was loaded before holding it out in front of her, "I know you're out there." her voice echoed through the apartment.
A few seconds passed before another voice responded, "I know you know I'm out here." it spoke, followed by the front door loudly opening and closing.
"Then why are you skulking about like it's a minefield?" you heard your girlfriend say.
"Cause I don't know if I can trust you." the voice that was unknown to you answered.
You could hear Yelena lightly chuckle, "Funny, I was going to say the same thing."
"So, are we gonna talk like grown-ups?" the intruder asked.
Yelena's tone dropped lowly, "Is that what we are?"
You couldn't see it, but Yelena and the owner of the unrecognizable voice were finally face to face, each pointing a gun at the other.
For a few moments you could only hear shoes patting against the floor when your girlfriends voice threatened, "Put it down before I make you."
"You put yours down." the voice shot back, "Watch your step."
Nothing but an eerie silence could be heard by your ears. That was until Yelena and the stranger decided to quit the small talk and handle the situation in a different manner.
It was clear to you that they were now fighting from the loud crashes and shouting that rang through the apartment floor. Objects were smashed, glass was shattering, furniture was breaking. You knew that your girlfriends was significantly more than capable of handling herself, but you were still worried about her.
You weren't exactly sure how long the commotion had gone on for when you finally heard the voice speak again, "Truce." it said. It scared you that Yelena sounded like she was gasping for air.
"You've grown up." the stranger commented.
'Grown up?' you thought. 'Did Yelena know this person? Why are they here? Why were trying to hurt your girlfriend?'
"No shit." Yelena responded coldly. You could hear footsteps coming closer to you when the door opened, revealing your Lena.
Her hair was tousled and she looked as if she had just ran a marathon, but it was her. She was seemingly unharmed, but you just had to make sure.
You cupped her face as she kneeled in front of you, "Lena? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" your eyes concerningly scanned her body.
"I'm alright, printsessa (princess), I promise." she reassured you.
Yelena caught you when you threw yourself into her arms and wrapped yours around her neck to hold her close, not caring about how sweaty she might be.
"Hey dorogaya, I need you to do something for me, okay?" she said as she pulled back.
You hummed, wordlessly telling her to continue, "You know those bags we have packed for emergencies under the bed in our room?" Yelena asked and you nodded, "I need you to go grab them for me, okay?"
You both knew that eventually you would have to get up and leave. With Yelena being a trained ex assassin she had inevitably made some enemies. You just didn't expect that day to come so soon.
So you knowingly complied, standing to your feet with her. When Yelena moved out from in front of you so you could walk away, you saw who you believed to be the intruder standing just a few feet away.
She had fiery red hair that was styled into a braid, and wore an all black outfit. You coward under her rather intimidating gaze, realizing that this stranger who just attacked your girlfriend had just watched your whole encounter.
You felt a hand rest on the small of your back, recognizing it as Yelena's, "Ignore her, detka (baby). She won't hurt you." she said, pressing a kiss to your hair as she gave her sister a warning glance.
Yelena gave you a nod when you looked at her for you to go ahead and leave the room. You quickly walked passed the redhead who looked at her younger sister with her signature smirk.
"She’s a pretty one." Natasha stated.
Yelena rolled her eyes, "Shut up."
In the last few weeks, you and Yelena have become closer to each other. You spent a lot of time together and your crush on her grew because of that. She often visited you at the compound or you drove to her apartment. Spending time together also distracted you from worrying about Natasha and Bucky since they were both on a long and difficult mission. Even though you knew you didn’t have to worry about Bucky, you couldn’t help it because he’s your best friend. And Natasha is also one of the best assassins out there, probably even the best, but since Yelena is her sister, she can’t help it either.
So, for the past few weeks you’ve been watching movies or TV shows, visiting some places in New York that Yelena hasn’t seen yet and wanted to see, and when you found out that Yelena can only cook mac and cheese, you had to change that and asked if she would like to cook something with you. You had a lot of fun and Yelena started to really enjoy cooking with you. Yelena and you also really enjoyed being outside at night and watching the stars. Sometimes Yelena would fall asleep almost cuddling with you and resting her head on your chest. This also happened when you had movie nights together, and you loved when that happened.
You love hanging out with Yelena. You love everything about it. Her silly jokes, her sarcastic comments, her laughter, sitting close to each other and having a deep conversation late into the night.
The other Avengers who weren’t on a mission all noticed how close you were. Wanda always smiling at you both and Clint was also very happy that you were having fun together.
You were currently sitting on the couch in the living room at the compound and were discussing what you wanted to watch this time.
“So, what do you want to watch?” You asked as you opened Netflix.
“What would you suggest?” She asked shyly and you smiled at her.
“Hmm, let me think.” You said, looking at your movie watchlist you had on Netflix.
“What about this one? It’s called ‘Little Women’, and I really liked it the first time I saw it.”
“Okay, let’s watch that.” She said and you started to giggle.
“What?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Maybe you should know that there is an actress in this movie who looks a lot like you.”
“Is that why you like this movie?” Yelena said, starting to blush.
“Maybe” You teased.
“Okay...umm, let’s just watch the movie.” Yelena said quietly and you started the movie.
After a while you sat very close to each other, and rested your head on her shoulder while you watched the movie. You were so distracted by the movie that you didn’t even hear the Quinjet land at the compound. You didn’t even notice the elevator door opening behind you.
“Hey you two.” You suddenly heard Natasha say. You both quickly moved away from each other and turned around. You started to smile when you saw Bucky standing there. You got up from the couch and ran to Bucky.
“I’m so glad you’re back safely.”
“I missed you.” Bucky said and wrapped his arms around you. As you hugged him, you heard Yelena walk towards Natasha.
“You’re back sestra! “Yelena said and hugged Natasha.
You decided to let them take a shower, while you finished the movie. After you all had dinner together, Bucky and Natsha told the others about the successful mission. Then Steve suggested to watch a movie. After the movie ended, you went to your room. You had only been there a few minutes when you heard a knock on your door.
“Come in.” You said and Bucky opened the door.
“Hey.” He said with a smile.
“Hey, Buck.” You said, walking up to him with a smile.
“I thought I’d come to you to hear what I missed while I was away.”
“Sure, come on, let’s sit down.” You said and walked over to your bed. Bucky sat down next to you, and you smiled at him.
“So, what do you want to know?”
“Isn’t there something you want to tell me?”
“I don’t know what you mean, Buck?” You said and Bucky chuckled.
“When were you going to tell me that you and Yelena are finally a couple?” Bucky said and you were confused now.
“What no me and Yelena are just friends.”
“You’re kidding right?” Bucky said and you just shook your head, not knowing what to say.
“Yelena looks at you like you’re her entire world.”
“What?” You said nervously.
“It’s so obvious that Yelena likes you too. The way she looks at you tells everything.”
“Are you sure, Buck?”
“Definitely.” You smiled and started telling Bucky everything he missed and how you and Yelena became so close.
“Please promise me that you will tell Yelena about your feelings for her.”
“Okay, I promise, but I don’t know how.”
“Just tell her how you feel and what she means to you.”
“Thanks, Buck. You’re the best.” Bucky started to smile and pulled you closer with his metal arm. You talked for a few more minutes when Bucky decided to look for Steve.
Three days have passed since Bucky and Natasha returned from the mission. You were watching a movie with Bucky, Steve, Natasha, Wanda and Yelena. After the movie ended you talked for a few more minutes until Bucky suddenly said.
“I think I’m heading to my room, I’m already tired.” He said and looked at Steve.
“Yeah, me too.”
“Okay, goodnight, Grandpas.” Natasha said, making the others laugh while Bucky and Steve looked at her annoyed. Before Bucky left the room, he winked at you. Natasha and Wanda stayed for a few minutes and then decided to leave as well. So, now you were alone with Yelena.
“Do you want to watch something?” She asked and you nodded, but then had to think about what Bucky had said. Now was the opportunity to tell Yelena.
“Well, actually there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a while.”
“Of course, go for it.” She said but sounded a little nervous.
“Well, how do I start…” You took a deep breath and Yelena smiled softly at you.
“Yelena, I like you a lot and not just as a friend. My day always gets better when I see you…you mean so much to me.”
“Oh, Y/n, I can’t believe you’re saying that because I feel the same way about you.” She said, making you smile.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I was just too shy to tell you and wasn’t sure if you feel the same way, especially because of my past.” Yelena said, looking away for a second, but then back at you.
“Hey, I know you’ve been through a lot and that doesn’t change anything. I love you for who you are.”
“Thank you for saying that, it means so much to me.”
“So, what are we doing on our first date?” You asked and her smile started to grow, and she spoke, “I think I already have an idea.”
You were so glad that Yelena feels the same way and you can’t wait to see what idea she has for your first date.
pairings: yelena belova × fem!reader | natasha romanoff × fem!reader (platonic)
warnings: smut implied (character just being in underwear, kisses on skin, hickeys, nothing gets more intimate than that), getting caught
Tumblr media
The low sounds that came out of your mouth and the wet kisses she left across your bust were the only thing that could be heard in her room. She looks at the purple marks left on her girlfriend's body, a growl comes out of her mouth, making your body shudder.
"Can I?" Yelena whispers to you, who smiles before nodding your head in confirmation. Her hands go to the girl's shorts, taking no time to remove them and throw them in a corner somewhere.
She looks up and down the red lingerie her girlfriend wore, giving you a pretentious smile. Your face was as red as the set you were dressing. Your hair was messy, falling on your shoulders, making you look more beautiful than you already are, Yelena thought. But before she could do anything to you, a loud knock on the door made the two of you quickly separate.
"Yelena, can I come in?" It was her sister, Natasha Romanoff, who consequently didn't know about your relationship with Yelena, much less that she liked girls.
"Huh, wait a second!"
You panicked not knowing what to do. She dragged you to the bathroom of her room and closed the door before throwing the girl's clothes under the bed. She tried to fix her hair before taking a deep breath and walking to the door, unlocking it and giving her sister space to enter. "I came to tell you that dinner is ready, everyone is already there."
"Oh! Okay, I won't take long to go." Yelena stutters, making Natasha look at her with furrowed eyebrows. She doesn't say anything else, even giving your girlfriend a confused look before closing the bedroom door. She lets out a deep sigh. The bathroom door opens and your head pokes out. You laughs and walks towards her, seeing how nervous she was. "I thought I was going to have a heart attack in front of my sister."
And before you could even respond, the door opens again with a loud noise, making you both startled. Natasha crosses her arms before walking towards you. Your heart seemed to stop for a second, your throat closed, and tour skin turned pale. "Y/n, I didn't know you were here."
"I was using the bathroom, Nat. But, I heard you perfectly, so let's go to have dinner!" You try to escape but her sister puts herself in front of you, leaving you with no choice but to face her.
"Are you going without your clothes for dinner?" Your cheeks turn pink when you look down and realize that you were only wearing your red set. "Why are you without them?"
"Oh, Y/n was trying on some of my clothes that I no longer wanted to see if she would like them!" Yelena quickly lie, thinking that her sister wouldn't think of anything beyond that.
"You're doing that, Yelena."
"'That' what?"
"When you get nervous, your lips tremble. And when you lie, you can't stop touching your shirt." When her eyes went down, she noticed her fingers were almost white because she was holding her shirt so tightly. Damn, she hated how well sister knew her, of course.
When neither of you responds further, she lets out a deep sigh before looking into both of your eyes. "We're going to have dinner and when you're done eating, I want you two in my bedroom to talk, you hear me?"
Neither of you respond, you just nod your head quickly, waiting for a meteor to fall on the room, because that was so embarrassing that it made you want to die right there in front of your girlfriend's sister.
You wait for something to happen, Natasha continues to stare at Yelena, until she realizes that you need your clothes to go to have dinner. So, she bend down towards her bed quickly taking them in her hands and embarrassedly returning them to you. You thank her with a smile before slipping the shirt over your head and your shorts down your legs.
Natasha sighs before giving the two of you space to leave the room. She follows behind you and your girlfriend, as if she were a private guard. You almost didn't even move, afraid that if you made one wrong move, your girlfriend's sister would kill you right there.
You released the breath you didn't even know you were holding out of your lungs when you reached the dining room. Yelena sat in the chair next to Clint, it didn't take long for Natasha to join her. You sat down next to Wanda, who soon noticed you hyperventilating and bouncing your leg up and down nervously.
"Is everything okay?" She whispers to you. Your head just nods, not trusting your voice at the moment. Dinner passes peacefully, but you can still feel Natasha's gaze on you. As the seconds passed, you became even more nervous and afraid that your girlfriend's sister would jump on your neck at some point.
When people started to leave the table, you started eating faster so that you didn't have to be alone with the two sisters, even if you had to face it at some point. "Hey, calm down. The food isn't going to run off your plate." Natasha's voice made you almost spit out all the food from your mouth. You look up and realize that there are only the three of you in the room. "I'll be waiting for you two in my room." And then, she gets up, but before leaving she gives you both a death glare.
[...]
"It's going to be okay, love." Yelena tells you, kissing your head as an act to try and calm you down.
"Natasha is going to kill me!" you whisper between your panting breaths making your girlfriend laugh. "Shh, she won't. Let's go in so it can all be over quicker."
You almost regret entering the room. Natasha was sitting on her bed with her arms crossed and a look that made you want to run away from that place. Yelena held your hand before walking closer to her sister. "I'm not going to say that I was surprised to see... you almost naked in my sister's room." Your face turns redder than Natasha's hair. "And I'm also not going to say that I didn't suspected about you two. Especially you, Y/n." You once again feel your face heat up in embarrassment.
"But I just wanted to know why you never told me about it?" None of you knew the answer. Maybe you were just scared of her reaction? Or scared of how the outside world would react about two women getting together. "I don't know, Nat." Yelena whispers.
Natasha walks towards the two of you, embracing your bodies together in a tight hug. You feel your girlfriend's body relax with the act, making yours do the same. "I know you two are afraid of what might happen from now on, but know that I will always support you two in whatever you decide, okay?"
"Thanks for understanding, Nat. I really thought you were going to kill me." You joke. Natasha chuckles before leaving a kiss on each of the two of your foreheads. "Know that I will really kill you if you do anything bad to my sister, understand?"
"Yes, ma'am!"
Baby Outlaw
Summary: Natasha has found out about another little girl who managed to escape the Red Room and she’s put Yelena onto it. But you escaped over a year ago and have no intention of being found (Part 1)
Tumblr media
A/N: Here we go: my first not-Peaky fanfic on this blog. I started writing this one a while back and I’ve written a few more parts already, but I just wanna see first if anyone is interested in this one. Also, I wrote this one with an OC originally, but decided to post it as a reader insert, because people on here prefer those usually. Anyways, let me know what you think and whether you’d like to read more!
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Words: 3228
*****
“Yelena.”
“Hi! Are you calling me from your superhero friends’ headquarters? Are they with you now? How is the god from space doing? Tell them I said ‘hi’!” She excitedly answered the phone, only to suddenly change her tone, “Wait, what is wrong with you? You sound so serious.”
Natasha was serious, “I need you to track someone down.”
“I am,” her younger sister still didn’t quite understand, “You gave me the file with all the girls, remember? I’ve been tracking them all down for the last months.”
“I know, I’ve heard.” Still there was the urgency in her sister’s voice and it didn’t go unnoticed by Yelena. “This one is special.”
“They all are.” To Yelena, this was a matter of principle; from faceless weapons they were now free women, all important and valued. Still she understood, “Special why?”
Natasha sighed on the other end of the line, “Do you remember everything Dreykov did after I managed to get out?” She tried to hide the guilt from her voice as much as she could, but didn’t quite manage it.
“Of course. The security got much stricter, punishments harder, and the chemical subjugation. No one escaped after that.”
“Well, someone did,” Natasha said sharply. “Another girl managed to get away, only a year ago. She escaped from the woods, when they were training her. During the blind dropping.”
Yelena remember that part of their training well. The young girls were dropped in the middle of the woods during the freezing winter and had to get back on their own. It had taken her days to do it. A lot of girls never came back. “But wait, that means she’s only small...” she wondered out loud.
“I think she’s twelve now, thirteen maybe?”
“How did she get away? The tracker...”
“She cut it out of her leg,” Natasha finished her sentence for her. “This must’ve been before they did the operation on her.”
“Umnaya devochka...” Yelena mused with some admiration in her voice.
“She won’t be in your files.”
“I can find her,” Yelena said confidently, “if you can tell me where she was last seen?”
“St. Petersburg,” Natasha was obviously rummaging through some files on the other end, “but that was almost a year ago.”
Yelena nodded and was quiet for a little while. Then she wondered, “Why is she special? To you. There were so many little girls. We all were little girls once.”
Her sister didn’t reply straight away and when she did, some emotion slipped into her voice, “She doesn’t have anyone. I checked. Dreykov killed her whole family. And she managed to get away, just her, but now she has nowhere to go and no one to go to. I think she deserves someone looking out for her for once.”
“I think so too. I will look out for her,” Yelena answered decidedly, “I will find her.”
Natasha felt a certain relief wash over her. She knew Yelena would understand. After all, if she didn’t, who would?
*****
Six weeks later, Yelena was staying in a small apartment somewhere in Camden Town in London. It had taken her quite a while to track down the little girl who somehow had slipped through Dreykov’s fingers. She’d survived the Red Room and found a way to use it to her advantage. Yelena decided that as soon as she’d found the girl, she would have to ask her a lot of questions on how she did it.
But the kid was slippery, as Natasha would say. In the last month, she’d moved cities twice and changed the name she went by four times. In St. Petersburg, they called her ‘Anya’ at one of the shelters where she sometimes went for food. In Berlin, the homeless kids mentioned a girl named ‘Lisa’ that fit her description. In Paris, she’d dyed her hair, clever girl, and went by ‘Cleo’ and then ‘Lilian’. Finally, Yelena tracked her to London, where she heard rumours of a ‘Maisie’ living rough, which was funny to Yelena, because that name did not suit her at all. She felt like she knew the girl already.
But the trail kept going cold. Yelena was constantly chasing shadows and rumours, never catching actual sight of her. Until London. Up until a few days ago, the former assassin had spend days gathering information and had gotten a recent description. And then, when she wasn’t even really looking for her, she’d seen a kid on the streets. It was only a glance but Yelena knew it was her.
“Hehe, there you are, you little fish,” Yelena whispered to herself, as she observed a child that had gotten so good at not attracting any attention to herself, that Yelena noticed at once. Right now, she was walking around the farmers market in Islington and she’d already managed to nick two apples, some chocolate and some more chocolate, a can of coke and a loaf of bread. All the food disappeared into her seemingly endless pockets. Yelena smirked at the sight.
“Well, that explains one thing,” she told the little hooded figure from far away, “how you managed to survive the Red Room’s starvation techniques. Let’s see what you do next, rybochka.״
But as Yelena made her way to follow the girl who had just rounded a corner, she saw that she had vanished. “Shit,” she hissed and cursed herself internally for being spotted. Quickly, she started running until she caught a glimpse of the blue raincoat the girl was wearing. Fast a lighting, she darted through the crowds and Yelena had the hardest time keeping up with her. Through the streets she chased her, waiting for her to slip up somehow, but she never did. Nimbly, the girl suddenly sprinted into a narrow little street and Yelena almost ran by it. At the end, she jumped over a few cars and crossed the road, while Yelena had to wait for them to pass before she could follow. She was losing her, a twelve-year-old girl, and it bothered her immeasurably.
“Oh, come on!” the blonde called out, as the kid suddenly did a double take and disappeared into the crowds again. Full of frustration, Yelena shoved people aside left and right to her. And then, pure luck, she recognised the raincoat right in front of her. She grabbed it tightly and tried to tackle the girl to the ground, though carefully, very much aware that this was just a child. However, this child had received years of training in one of the most severe facilities on earth and as soon as she felt Yelena’s tightened grip on her shoulder, she spun around, ducked and flipped her assailant over her shoulder.
With an “oooff” filled with surprise and embarrassment, Yelena hit the pavement. “Seriously?” she muttered and in that moment, she locked eyes with the strange girl. It was like the world stopped for a few seconds. Yelena recognised both the fear and the resolution in the other’s eyes. She opened her mouth to say something to calm her down, but as she moved to get up, the girl kicked sand from the streets into her eyes. Spluttering, the assassin wiped her face and lost sight of the girl. When she pushed herself up, she was gone.
Cursing loudly in Russian, Yelena attracted quite a bit of attention on the crowded streets. She huffed with irritation and walked away. Then she took out her phone and called her sister.
“Did you find her yet?” Natasha answered by way of greeting.
“I lost her.”
“Again?” she sighed, “She’s only twelve, Yelena.”
Full of indignation, she protested, “Well, none of this would have happened if you would have given me the correct information sooner! She is too smart now.”
“Smarter than you?” Some sarcasm laced Natasha’s voice and Yelena could practically hear her smirking on the other end.
“I have sand in my eyes...”
“Poor baby,” She now not even tried to hide the humour in her voice. “Do you need me to come down there to help you?”
“Yes,” Yelena replied at once, mainly because she just wanted to see her sister again, but reconsidered, “No. No, I know you are busy with superhero stuff.”
Natasha was silent for a little while, letting her younger sister sulk for a bit, “Stop chasing her. You’re probably only scaring her away. Remember what they taught us about being followed?”
“Find out who is following you and why.” The tactical theories had been an integral part of their training.
“Exactly.”
Yelena bit her lip and suddenly smiled, “I know where she’s going next.”
*****
As soon as you were certain you’d lost the assassin, you made your way back to Camden Town. For a couple of weeks now, you’d noticed someone on your trail and while you’d had your suspicions, your pursuer managed to remain in the shadows for the most part. Until the last few days: you’d decided to flip the tables on her and tried following her. This all went according to plan, up until today. Still, you figured you could use your little scuffle to your advantage, because now she’d be busy trying to find you. This gave you a chance to check out her apartment and learn more about her.
It hadn’t been hard for you to figure out where she’d been staying. In fact, it had been laughably easy, if you knew what to look for. And so, only half an hour later, you were standing in front of the right building.
Now for a way to get in. You debated climbing up the walls, but there were a few too many tourist out and about for your liking. As a stroke of luck, one of them walked up to the front door and was currently fiddling with the keys.
“Let me try,” you walked up to him with a winning smile. “My mum owns this apartment, there’s a bit of a trick to it...” Without suspicion, he handed you the keys and soon enough, you’d opened the door. “See?” you charmingly beamed up at him. He didn’t think anything of it as you followed him inside.
After waving after the tourist, you walked up the stairs to the third floor. You knew it had to be one of two apartments on the front side of the building. Singing some Russian song to yourself, you settled on trying one of them.
Forcing the lock was a piece of cake and it took you about four seconds to do so. After looking around for a few moments, you knew you’d picked the right apartment. Everything looked staged somehow: there was some furniture and even a few knick-knacks scattered around, but none of it really seemed to reflect a real personality. This was an assassin’s cover story, without a doubt.
“Bed first,” you whispered to yourself, as you lifted up the mattress to look for the most obvious hiding places. Nothing there. Then you checked a few random drawers and eventually made your way to the kitchen. There, on the table and in plain sight, you found a postcard yet to be sent. You flipped the image of Nelson on his column around and on the back was written: ‘The biggest poser of them all, just for you. Love, Yelena.”
“Yelena...” you tried out the name carefully. Suddenly, your stomach made a growling noise and you went in search of some food.
Just as you had your head stuck inside the refrigerator, you heard a sound behind you. Quickly, you slammed the door shut and ran for the bedroom window, but when you got to it, a blonde was blocking the way.
“Hi!” she cheerfully said, which only gave more rise to the panic you felt building up inside of you. So, she continued, “You know, if you are looking for more food, I can make us something.”
“Shit,” you hissed and ran into the other direction.
Behind you, you heard her call out, “You do not have to run, I am happy to cook us something. I am hungry too, you know!”
Not knowing what else to do, you fled into the little bathroom and locked the door. Breathing heavily, you tried your very best to keep your focus, just as you were taught. But panic settled into the pit of your stomach, because as soon as you laid eyes on her again, you were certain: she was a widow. And you’d rather die than be taken back to the Red Room.
“Little fish...” she called out from the other side of the door, “Please just stop. It is no use. That window will not open. I have tried.”
You tried the window and cursed again at finding she was right.
“Yes, much shit,” the voice confirmed.
You slapped the side of your head three times, telling yourself to snap out of it. The only way you are going to survive this, you told yourself, is by staying calm and thinking.
“I just want to talk. And eat.”
But her talking to you didn’t help. In fact, it only increased the urgency to flee you felt. Finally, you let yourself slide down against the door and sighed. If you were going to get out of here, you needed to find a way out of this bathroom first.
Yelena, on the other side, sat down with her back against the door as well. And even though she remembered being that age so well, and she understood all the fear and distrust you were probably feeling right now, she had a hard time finding the right words. So, instead she asked, “During the dropping, how did you manage to escape the dogs? I mean, you cutting the tracker from your leg was smart, I will give you that, but that also makes me wonder: why did they not notice sooner that it was no longer moving? And how did you manage to get out of the forest without dying of frostbite first? I just have a lot of questions, you know, and I really would like some answers, because now I feel stupid for not thinking about all of that when I had my dropping.”
“You wanna know so you can tell them where to upgrade their security?” The words had left your mouth before you could stop them.
“No, rybochka, of course not. Besides, there is no point now. The Red Room is gone.”
You sucked in a deep breath, hopeful for a second, but immediately telling yourself this must be a lie.
“You don’t believe me?” Yelena seemed to sense your emotions, “I have proof.”
Considering all your options quickly, you realised you didn’t have many. “If I come out, you swear not to touch me?”
You heard some movement outside of the bathroom and realised she was getting up. “I swear it. And if I did, you’d probably throw me across the room again.”
Furrowing your brows and wondering if this was another joke, you opened the door and moved out with your back against the wall. There you found Yelena, standing in the middle of the room with her hands up, and a slight smirk on her face.
“Dreykov send you?” you asked, still eyeing all the possible exits.
“Dreykov’s dead.”
You narrowed your eyes, “How do you know?”
“I blew him up. Boom. Just like that,” the blonde smirked again at the memory, “First, we set the Red Room on fire and when they tried to escape, I sabotaged the engine and blew up the ship as they tried to get away.”
“How?”
“I stuck my baton into the propeller and it exploded. Like fireworks,” Yelena nodded proudly.
You frowned again, “There’s no way you would have survived that.”
The assassin made her way to the kitchen, but continued in a conversational tone, “I almost died, but my sister jumped after me and attached her parachute to me. Natasha saved me.”
“Right,” you nodded slowly, still very unsure of what was fact and what was fiction in this story.
“Listen, rybochka, I understand you don’t trust me now. It is okay, but I just want to help you.”
You felt at the lining of your pocket to feel for the reassuring presence of a knife there. “Why do you keep calling me ‘fish’?”
“Because you are slippery and also cute.”
Some strange part of you did like this strange assassin that was probably send to kill you. She felt familiar somehow, like you’d known her for a long time.
“Now what?” you finally asked.
“Now you give me your knife,” she glared at you strictly, like you imagined maybe a mother or sister would, “the one you keep in your pants.”
Rolling your eyes, you produced the small weapon and reached out towards her. But as Yelena tried to take it from your hands, you swiftly kicked her to the side and dashed forwards.
“What was that for!” she shouted out, full of genuine hurt. With a growl, she dodged the next few blows you tried to land. Quickly, you became aware of the fact that she was a lot more skilled than you were but you had one advantage: she tried her very best not to hurt you. Guess there were some upsides to being only twelve.
Yelena jumped out of the way and avoided the chair you threw at her. “Enough!” she warned you, “Stop fighting me or I will have to fight back.” By way of an answer, you kicked the door in her face and sprinted across the little corridor.
This was your mistake, because in those few seconds, you lost sight of her. The moment you rounded the corner, you were tackled to the floor. Yelena quickly straddled your waist and pinned your hands as you tried to claw at her face.
“Calm down!” she instructed loudly, trying to make herself heard over your loud shrieks, “I do not want to hurt you!”
“Maybe I do want to hurt you!” you ground out. Again, you felt a part of you wanting to trust her, but you just couldn’t let yourself do it.
“So stubborn...” Yelena gritted her teeth, as she tried to keep your squirming form in place. “Fine,” she suddenly let go, “As a sign of trust on my part, I will not stop you. Go on, little fish, hit me.”
You balled up your fist and pulled it back, but for some reason, you couldn’t do it.
“Good.” She climbed off of you, “Now we can eat.”
You watched her walk away and wondered, “Are you the Yelena?”
“Yelena Belova, and yes, you have heard from me.”
You had: ‘the greatest child assassin’. It was like she could read your mind, “But I am not her anymore. I am free now.”
“How?”
“I will explain while we eat. Come, little fish,” with a small smile, she motioned for you to follow her.
“Stop calling me ‘fish’!” You got up and walked over to the kitchen.
Yelena was gathering different groceries and you wondered vaguely what on earth she planned on making with all of that. Meanwhile, she stated, “But I don’t know what else to call you. What is your name?”
“It’s Y/N,” you whispered, feeling more vulnerable than ever.
Yelena smiled warmly at you, “Y/N is a nice name, rybochka.”
If You Want to Be My Lova
Yelena Belova x PlusSize!FemReader
Natasha Romanoff x Wanda Maximoff
A/N: Though I identify R as plus size, I didn’t give her much description to leave it open to a broader range of readers who struggle with loving their bodies. (Pssst, you’re beautiful—I just know it’s true 🥺) | 3,912 Words
Warnings: Steve’s a fat shaming asshole, Body Image Insecurity. Alluded to/never specified eating disorder.
A/N 2.0: I personally detest Steve, but to be clear I don’t genuinely think he’d be like this, I just needed an antagonist.
Steve watched from across the counter as you wandered into the kitchen, your water in one hand and your phone in the other as you perused the kitchen in search of breakfast. He'd seen the exact moment your eyes lit up when you saw the pink boxes on the counter.
An unnecessary wave of glee ran through him as he prepared to open his mouth and speak, "Are you sure you want to eat that Y/N? If you're serious about losing weight why not look into eating some rolled oats with berries?"
He was being vindictive, you'd grown used to it after you worked your magic and got Natasha to finally ask out Wanda, he's been visibly bitter over the situation ever since. The talking point of your weight was easy enough for him to cling to, he was in peak fitness, and it would only come off as a concerned friend trying to help you reach a "better" state of wellness.
What he failed to consider was Wanda was on her way into the kitchen as well, and she was able to see the exact moment your spirit broke. The light in your eyes faded fast, and the donut in your hand was gently set back into the box, she saw the way your lip wobbled, and your eyes filled with not only tears, but dread too.
——
It enraged her honestly, you were the sweetest person around these parts, and deserved to be treated with nothing less than love and respect.
Steve saw it too, the way you bit your lip and closed your eye's tight to try and reel your feelings in. Crying over it changes nothing...
He went to lift his mug of coffee to his lips as if he was accomplishing something amazing, his smile smug as ever when you turned away, but it fell fast when the steaming contents of his mug were sloshing over the edge of the glass in a way that could only be explained with magic.
He hissed as the drink scalded him through his thick cotton shirt, his chest on fire now, and in a dramatic manner he removed the stained shirt to reveal his toned abs, and ripped arms.
"Wanda, what the fuck was that for?" He called her out immediately, and so she entered the kitchen with a victorious smile, and red tinged fingertips. "Whatever do you mean Rogers?"
"I know what you did."
"Yeah, and I too know what you did," she glares menacingly in his direction while also setting a reassuring hand onto your shoulder, "I'd say the punishment fits the crime."
Steve glared right back, and you finally turned to see what must've occurred to cause this rift, you felt guilt gnawing at your gut, it wasn't a fair feeling, but yet you could feel it festering.
Wanda's fingers continued to spark in shades of a dangerous crimson as the burned man wasn't appearing to be backing down, and you didn't want to involve her any further. It felt sorta unfair for her to fight your battles for you. On account of her being your girlfriends future sister in law, and also because this entire moment was beyond mortifying for you.
To have your insecurities viciously thrown in your face in a public space like this, well it was rather juvenile, and so it made you feel like you were that same kid crying under the bleachers all those years ago when kids were being cruel.
The people pleaser in you won out alongside the embarrassed little one who still resided in your heart, so you took in a shaky breath before trying to calm the witch, "It's okay Wands."
You'd gently settled a hand over hers that still held tightly to your shoulder for comfort, the witch looked back at you, the sad smile you offered didn't calm her though, it only fueled her on. "It's not, especially not when he himself is only a byproduct of a steroidal experiment."
Steve's stance faltered ever so slightly, his ego now efficiently bruised. His mouth spluttered embarrassingly for a moment before he left the kitchen altogether in a grumbling huff.
"Tata Captain Hot Head," she flipped the man off, then turned back to you as you giggled.
"Hey dorogoy," you looked at her inquisitively, and she offered you one of the warmest smiles you'd ever seen, "Can you do me a favor?"
"Of course, whatever you need Wands," she beamed, "I'm glad to hear you say that, can you get two plates for us? I'll take a maple bar, and you can pick that sprinkled one back up while I make us a fruit salad and some hot cocoa."
Wanda watched closely, there was a hesitation in your demeanor, as if you were now scared. You however nodded meekly, then began to shuffle around the space to do as she asked.
"Ooh, did I see donut holes too?"
"Yup," you confirmed, and then you watched from your place at the counter as six tiny balls of dough and sugar danced through the air until they landed evenly between your plates.
The two of you spoke about your weekly movie night tonight while picking at the food before you, you smiled when the witch said you got to pick, you settled on Hocus Pocus, and Wanda smiled when she saw your plate was empty.
Then Wanda watched your face fall as she described in detail how she'd prepared a couple of snack trays for the both of your girlfriends with the ravenous appetites. This was a normal conversation, but now that Steve threw you into this self deprecating headspace she could see you debating if you wanted to go anymore.
The pressure to eat another meal today was already crippling your soul, it felt wrong to even consider nourishing yourself after the way Steve haphazardly regarded your body. Seeing how fit he was didn't help either, it only made you feel like you truly didn't deserve to eat.
"Well, I have some errands to run Wands, but I'll see you tonight," you collected both of your plates, and left her behind with a side hug as you departed, but your thoughts were so loud all the witch was left to do was frown as she made her way to the gym to try and fix this.
Natasha slammed Yelena into the mat for what was like the tenth time in an hour, "Cyka."
"Just admit that I'm better, and we'll be done."
"Never, I am just distracted," Yelena groaned, "Something in my gut is deeply unpleasant."
"Yeah, you simply can't stomach losing," Nat laughed as she once again dodged her sisters fist with grace, but then she was groaning when Yelena's fist hit her in the gut, she was too distracted by the sight of her fast approaching angered lover to have stopped the attack.
"Ha! I win!" Yelena screeched, only to be met with a shove that knocked her on her ass, and to wind up on the receiving end of Natasha's incredulous expression, "One hit isn't a win!"
"Listen here cyka," Yelena angrily muttered while stepping up to her sister, "Listening," Natasha smirked and Yelena reared back.
"Enough! Both of you!" Wanda caught Yelena's fist with red wisps, "Save your anger for Steve."
The sisters looked to her within an instant, both wearing different degrees of confusion.
"What did he do now?" Natasha groaned, she was growing really tired of his petty antics.
"He made Y/N self conscious, she's not okay."
Yelena's entire body tensed, Wanda could feel her fighting against her magic, and as if the God's heard her prayer Steve entered the gym.
"Let me go," she lowly growled, and Wanda did so without a single concern for the man, she was actually thrilled for what was to come.
Steve was unknowingly preparing for a beating coming down here, he'd come here to fight away the thoughts of inadequacy Wanda placed in his mind with the punching bag, but instead he was on his knees clutching his manly hood.
"What the actual fuck?" he seethed, but when he met the fiery gaze of one Yelena Belova he knew not to even test the waters any further.
"YA vypotroshu tebya, kak rybu," she rasped through gritted teeth, her hand fisted in the mans hair, as she punched him square in the nose, then as she went to further beat him she felt Natasha's hands on her shoulder's pulling her back, "Idi k yeye sestre, ty yey nuzhen, my s nim spravimsya." Yelena looked to her with a scowl, but after a moment of reassuring eye contact she conceded, "Zastav' yego zaplatit'."
(I will gut you like a fish / Go to her sister, she needs you, we'll handle him. / Make him pay)
"You know Rogers, Y/N only ever gave me the confidence to ask Wanda out, it was always going to be her, and never going to be you," she pulled Wanda in by her waist for a bruising kiss to ensure he understood her honest words.
He pouted like a petulant child, Yelena's firm hold was replaced with Wanda's impenetrable magic, so he was forced to watch them kissing.
Natasha lowered her body until she was level with the pitiful man, she patted his cheek twice patronizingly then she spoke only to ruin him, "Because sure Rogers, you might have the fawned over physique, but that's really only superficial, at the end of the day you're nothing worth experiencing," she beamed as his eyes filled shallowly with tears, "Y/N is a light in this dark world Steve, and for you to treat her like she's less than because you feel you lost me because of her is so strange. It's also not true."
"Everyone knows you have the personality of a brick wall, and it's just not that appealing. At least Sam and Bucky are interesting enough," Wanda taunted the scowling man, "There's a reason you could only ever score a date with the niece of your almost lover," she gripped him by his chin, and stared coldly into his eyes, "You're a pathetic excuse for a man Steve."
"That's all there is to it," Nat concluded, then with a precise swing of her fist he was out cold.
Wanda knelt beside him, and Natasha watched as red wisps jolted through his temple, "Sweet nightmares, I hope you wake up devastated."
"God, I love you so much," Natasha groans as she pulls her lover in for a deep kiss, "Y/N's family Nat, and nobody fucks with my family."
"That she is, I just hope Yelena can fix this," Natasha frowns slightly, and Wanda meets her concerned expression with an equivalent sigh, "If anyone can, it's her." Wanda softly grabs her lovers hand, "But we can also do our part."
Yelena raced through the entire compound in search of you, in her frazzled state she had neglected the obvious solution of just asking Friday, but after stumbling onto the vacant floor of the compound she knew she found you.
Soft sobs came from the room that used to be yours before you moved into Yelena's room. Back when you were Tony's assistant who he deemed worthy of a room, and not yet her everything, because that's exactly what you are.
"Y/N?" She called out softly as to not scare you, "Moye solnyshko," she whispered the words as she entered your old room, her heart stuttered when she saw the broken glass of your mirror, and it nearly shattered when she saw some of your things had been brought down here.
"Y/N, detka, what's going on?" She reached out for you, but you pulled your hands away, she frowned upon seeing the cuts that littered your skin and the air of despondency in your glossy orbs, it had made her imagine Steve's body dangling over a tub of carnivorous crocodiles.
It's now on her to do list...
"Lena, you should just go," you whispered brokenly, voice cracking as well as both of your hearts as you verbalized the words you didn't mean, "I'll never be what you deserve, so go."
"So that's just it? I don't get a say in this?"
"You're so beautiful Yelena, you deserve a partner that matches or excels you, which would honestly be impossible, you're perfect."
"You do excel me Y/N," she whimpers, and this time when she goes to reach you she does so by straddling your body, and making sure you can see just how true her words are. "I've never had anything to call my own Y/N, but now I have you, and I wouldn't trade that for anything."
"But what if there's someone better along the way Yelena? It's easier if we break this off now, I couldn't cope if you left me in the future."
"Never," she promised, her lips deposited a peck to your tear stained lips, "There is nothing better for me than you detka, I've never been happier," she smiled warmly as she stared into your cloudy eyes, hers just as glossy as yours, "That's all because of you. Moya solnyshko—my sunshine; oh how you brighten my life."
Yelena watched the storms behind your eyes begin to settle, your once tense body melted into the mattress, and she took the moment as the perfect time to kiss you, to pour out just how much you meant to her into the gesture.
"Look at me Y/N," she remained soft as she sat you up, and pulled you into her lap without a moment of hesitation, her tone however held a seriousness to it, "You deserve to feel safe in your body, to be able to love yourself despite any societal norms that are like ugly lies."
"I try to love me Lena, b-but when people that look like Steve say what they do I can't help but worry that I'm not meant for your love, maybe I'm holding you back, or you're settling here."
"First of all, you are meant for me only," she held you far more tightly, a possessiveness falling over her at the thought of you being with someone else. "You move me forward detka, my life has only looked up with you at my side. Life is a box of chocolates with you."
A sweet giggle left you as Yelena paraphrased last week's movie to make her point.
"I'm not settling Y/N, if anything it's you who's settling," you instantly shook your head with a pout, and she smiled at you sadly, "I've done a lot of things wrong in this short lifetime Y/N."
"You didn't have a choice Lena," you growled, and she chuckled lightly, "I know, but I finally do, and you're the only thing I've done right."
A brief moment of silence fell over you both, Yelena's grip on you was firm, and loving, her lips pressed to your forehead, and when you quietly sniffled she figured you needed more.
"Fuck that dipshit in spandex," she grinned when you giggled softly, and her looming fears melted away when you rested your head over her heart, "He'll never know what it's like to be loved truly, because he doesn't understand that people don't care for that manufactured body of his when it's paired with a heart of stone."
"You though. You're not only beautiful to look at," she leaned back, giving you the once over for emphasis, but she truly did get distracted as she took you in, with her lip caught in between her teeth and a smile in her eyes she couldn't fake, "You've also got a heart of gold detka."
It was easy to believe when she looked at you like that, but you still had your reservations, and Yelena could see right through to that.
"I love you, for every last part of you," she readjusted you so that she could cup your cheek while her other hand held your hip, "Whatever you see as a flaw, I see it as you, and therefore it's perfect, because there's nothing flawed about you, you're a beauty worthy of marveling at, you're the perfect they say does not exist; this body of yours is my paradise."
Tears began to stream down your face, and in the past Yelena would freak out, worried that she said something wrong to upset you, but she's come to learn that tears can be joyful. That much she learned when she burst into them the first time you said you loved her, the sweet words dripped from your lips like honey.
"I-I love you Yelena," you blurted in a graceless blubbering manner, "I-I'm sorry for trying to leave you, I was just scared, but I promise you that I don't ever want to lose you, like ever."
"You never will," she purrs, her hand gently gripped you by the plush skin of your hips, "Because I'll never give you up for anything," she murmured against your lips before she slammed hers into yours passionately.
Her lips began to travel down your jaw, your breath hitched when she sucked lightly over the skin. "Lena, we have to go to movie night," you stuttered breathlessly. She groaned, "Do we have to? We can skip it tonight, on account of me wanting to love you until you believe it."
"I do," you whispered, "I believe you," with a genuine tone you brought a smile to her face.
"Then let's go moya lyubov'," Yelena lifted you up into her arms causing you to squeal at her show of strength, "I can walk just fine baby."
"I just didn't want to let you go just yet," she confessed while gently lowering you, and in return for her being so sweet you softly kissed her lips, "We'll be cuddling soon enough."
The two of you rode the elevator to your floor so you could drop off your things, and change into more comfortable clothes, but not until Yelena doctored up your injured hands, with a soft kiss to follow every bandaid she placed.
"Your boo-boos have been handled," she said with a bit of a pout, "I'll be back shortly," and with a soft kiss to your lips that lingered for a moment longer than need be she was gone.
Yelena left to shower off her day in the gym, and you unpacked your things before slipping into a pair of black sweats, with a worn down band t-shirt, and as you always did when feeling somewhat down, you slipped right into your girlfriends oversized army green hoodie.
You knew she bought it for you, but she wore it until it smelled enough like her to calm you... It's become your live in article for her missions.
Yelena's always been so incredibly sweet, you honestly can't believe you tried to end things. Her love has always fixed your problems, she never saw you as anything other than worthy of love, and affection; she was your soulmate.
"Well don't you look cuddly," she noted as she walked up from behind and grabbed your hand, "Can't wait to hold you close, it's cold"
"Cold?" She met your confusion with a sly smirk, then pulled you along wordlessly.
Once she pressed the button for the roof you understood her, excitement overran your body at the idea of a spooky movie under the light of the moon and the surrounding stars. That is until the doors opened to reveal a battered Steve with an ice pack on his bruised cheek, making you tense up, causing Yelena to look away from you and over at the unwelcome.
Before anyone could even mutter a word you got to bare witness to the brick house of a man wordlessly hobbling away after your much smaller girlfriend stepped towards him, and the smug smile that overtook your lovers face was rather priceless, "Lena, baby, you can't solve everything with brutal violence."
"Why not?" She pouted, and it was so innocent in appearance you'd never believe she was a highly skilled assassin in her younger days.
"Words can work too..."
"Yeah, he used words, we used our fists."
"We?"
"Yes, I broke his nose, and hopefully made him unable to reproduce. Wanda and Natasha did the rest to him, remind me to thank them."
"Goodness me, you three keep me on my toes."
Yelena grinned, then kissed you for the rest of the elevator ride. The ding signaled her to stop, and she stepped aside to let you exit first.
"Ta-da," Natasha cheered with jazz hands to draw your attention to the identical hanging day beds settled besides one another, with a table between with popcorn and candy atop.
Then you looked up to see the projector screen was adorned in purple and orange lights with smiling pumpkins after every few bulbs, the beds were littered with fluffy blankets, and there were outdoor heaters nearby for the anticipated maximum comfort level possible.
"I did nothing to help, but I promise I love you, witchy was just too nit-picky, I was safer on the sidelines," she said quietly while pulling you into her for a tight embrace, "I love you too."
"You'll be safer on the couch too if you keep it up," Wanda lightly threatened before taking you from her genuinely terrified lover, "I've prepped lots of food, make a plate honey."
"Where will she pick from if this weird plate is mine?" Yelena asked while holding an entire charcuterie board to her chest, her face never more genuinely serious than right now, and you stifled a laugh at the adorable sight, "Don't worry baby, feel free to enjoy your dinner."
Wanda looked to you scoldingly, worried you were using this as a get out of dinner card, but then you lifted your phone up to show her that it was okay, and you were fine. While Natasha and Yelena scavenged around with snacks, you and Wanda will share a pizza—like normal.
"What will you eat?" Yelena frowned, but you waved her off, "There's popcorn and candy."
Yelena held her plate out anyways, and you smiled while picking off a single cracker and a slice of cheese to top it off., "Thanks love."
"I will not be doing that," Natasha shared with her girlfriend who settled onto the bed beside her with an eye roll, "Oh, I was well aware."
When the expected ding of the elevator interrupted the undergoing movie night you smirked over at the witch who had left their outside daybed to collect the pizza, and with a soft kiss to your girlfriends parted lips, and with a careful transferring of a pillow in your place you joined Wanda on the porch swing.
"Every time," you remarked playfully, "Without fail," Wanda added while waving her pizza around for emphasis, "They're total chumps."
"But we love them anyways," you softly added, and Wanda snuggled into your side with a warm smile, "That we do," she whispered, then she hugged onto your arm tight, silently letting you know that she loved you too, and in turn you laid your head over hers on your shoulder as the both of you continued to watch the film.
"I'm sorry Emily; I had to wait 300 years for a virgin to light a candle."
"It was probably Steve..." Wanda nudged your side, and you cackled softly, "Knock it off."
*Kate, Yelena & Peter try to help Morgan with her homework*
Peter: It's harder than I thought
*Y/n walks in*
Y/N: Here’s a fun idea; we hang mistletoe but instead of kissing the person underneath, we have to fight them.
Natasha: We are not doing that.
Yelena *nodding*: mistlefoe
Natasha: Don’t encourage her!
You sighed as you flipped another page on your book, a pink highlighter on your hand and a bunch of loose pages resting in your lap. Were you studying on a friday night again? Yes. Sure, you had promised to yourself that this kind of nerdy behaviour would be left behind in high school, but who could blame you? It's not like you had anything else to do and you actually enjoyed studying.
- Oh, absolutely not. - a familiar voice with a thick accent sounded behing you and you smiled.
- Hey, Yelena. - you turned your head towards the voice, seeing the blonde girl climbing out the window. - Nice to see you're home again. And still unable to use the door.
- I already told you, sometimes I need to climb the window so I can make sure that no one else can climb the window. It is science. Just like your book. - she said, taking off her shoes and coat, her cheeks red from the cold weather. - Now, what are you doing reading a book? When I left, a whole week ago, you were doing that exact same thing.
- Well, I have to. It’s called studying. And if it helps, it was a different book last week. - you answered, watching as the blonde went straight for the kitchen. - But I wanna know about you. Your super secret mission went well? Where were you, after all? Now you can tell me, right?
- Bolivia. And yes, it went well. No one blew me up and it was not for lack of trying. - she said, frowning at the refrigerator. - Now, tell me, Y/N, this studying of yours does not require eating? There’s nothing in here.
- I was planning on ordering something later and I didn’t know you were coming home today. - you said, finally closing the book and resting your head against the armchair. - What do you mean they were trying to blow you up? Are you okay?
- Peachy. - Yelena said, sitting on the sofa. - I wasn’t even shot this time. It’s a big win.
- I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this. - you glanced at her with your eyes a little widened. You still remembered when, a year ago, Yelena showed up holding your announcement and asking if you were the one looking for a roommate. At the time, you didn’t knew you were getting a best friend and a giant headache all in one person. - You know, every time you leave I get worried sick.
- That is very sweet, Y/N Y/L/N, but you don’t have to worry. I am the best, so yeah, no danger here. - she smiled and you held back a laugh. Yelena could be so unintentionally conceited sometimes. - Now, will you please stop with the books, order some pizza and watch a movie with me? I missed you a lot.
- Own, Lena, I missed you too! - your heart melted at the russian’s words, smiling at her. - I’ll just bring this stuff to my room and then we can watch anything you’d like, okay?
She agreed with her head and you piled up all your books, papers and pens and carried them to your room, leaving it all on your desk. Fishing a blanket out of your closet, you picked up your phone and went back to the living room, sitting comfortably in the armchair again as you dialed the number of the pizza place you guys always ordered from.
- The pizza will be here in 40 minutes! - you yelled to make sure Yelena would hear you and went back to your phone, waiting for the girl to come back.
A few minutes later, she showed up in sweatpants and a My Little Pony white t-shirt, her hair wet and carrying a sweet lavender smell. She used your shampoo, but you didn’t really care, just watching as she practically fell onto the couch, resting her head against the pillows.
- So, what are we watching? - you asked, toying with the remote.
- Can we watch the one with the sirens again? You know, the one with the song that was stuck in my head for like a month? - she asked with big puppy eyes.
- Barbie A Mermaid Tale? - you asked with a laugh. Yelena was a big Barbie fan, but she specifically loved this one. - I think we’ve seen this at least five times.
- Please? It’s my favorite! - she pleaded, holding her hands together. - I love the evil fish.
- Okay, okay. But I’ll choose the next one.
- YES! - she exclaimed in pure delight, making you laugh again. If there was something you loved about Yelena, was her almost childlike joy about the little things in life. It was adorable.
You were about to press play when she cleared her throat, making you look in her direction only to find her already staring at you, brows furrowed.
- What? - you asked, a little confused.
- Aren’t you forgetting something? - she asked, rolling her eyes at your absolutely lack of perception. - Cuddling, Y/N Y/L/N, you’re forgetting the most important part of a movie marathon. Get your ass on this couch right now.
You couldn’t help but smile as you got up, laying beside the blonde on the couch and throwing your blanket over the two of you. It wasn’t long until Yelena’s arm was around your waist and the russian’s cheek was resting against your head. You hummed in contentment, feeling relaxed and warm and safe, like you always were with her.
- Now you can start. - she said simply as she placed a kiss against your forehead, making your heart melt all over again.
- It’s nice to have you home. - you said softly, grabbing the blonde’s hand and kissing her knuckles. - You know I love you, right?
- Yeah, you big softie, I love you too. - she said rolling her eyes as she kissed your cheek. - Now shush, my movie is starting.
You just smiled, too enthralled in the feeling of being in Yelena’s arms. She was home now, and it was all that mattered. After all, she was your home.
