a/n: hi hello 👋🏾 everyone blame @jasipereo and @malrie for this <3 they reminded me of my slight obsession with liper who are emotional cheaters. so uh. here’s a fic as a result. tw for emotional cheating lol

She knows it’s not rational. Her jealousy that is. Technically, Leo isn’t doing anything wrong. But for the millennia that Calypso has lived, she has never had a partner with a friend like this.

Leo and Piper are just that. LeoandPiper. A duo, of sorts. It’s been hard, since Jason’s death, with Leo and her drifting further and further apart, and him splitting his time between the Waystation and Tahlequah, and she barely sees him anymore.

These days, her focus is on concert band.

And if that includes a saxophone player named Odie, who looks remarkably like Odysseus, she never says anything to Leo about it.

But nonetheless, Leo’s still her boyfriend. Maybe. Honestly she isn’t fully sure, but when they have their fourth fight of the month over Iris Message, she realizes she needs to clarify a few things.

“What is she to you?” Calypso asks, and she watches as Leo’s brow furrows.

“She’s my best friend.”

“Best friends don’t call you to change their oil in another state.” She fires back and Leo rolls his eyes. “I’m a mechanic.”

“In training.” He doesn’t speak and she barrels forward. “You spend all week at the Waystation with Josephine and Emmie and Georgina, you haven’t been to a single one of my band concerts and then you spend all your free time with either Festus or her.”

“She needs me Cal. She just lost the love of her life,” Leo interjects and Calypso rolls her eyes.

“Oh sure, she needs you. What about me? Your girlfriend?”

Leo shakes his head. “I’m trying to be there for you as well. But I can only do so much.”

Calypso scoffs, pulling her jean jacket around her shoulders tighter. “You do everything for Piper. She calls, you go. She fucking stubs her toe on a rock, you sense a disturbance in the force. God, it’s like you’re in love with her!”

Silence. Dead silence that Calypso had never heard, not even when she was trapped on Ogygia, with only her thoughts and the wind spirits to accompany her - the occasional demigod dropping in every hundred years or so.

“She’s my person.” Leo says after a long moment, looking at Calypso with the harshest look he’s ever given her.

“You don’t need to understand it, but you need to respect it. She’s the reason I’m still here. She kept me sane in the Wilderness school, she kept me and Jason safe so many times. Look. I promised her I’d be there for her. I’m not going back on my word.”

And it’s then that Calypso remembers how headstrong he is. How he made an oath on the River Styx for her, despite knowing the danger it would pose.

If he did that for Calypso, a girl he barely knew, what would he do for Piper? His best friend. His person, as he had so eloquently put it.

She sighs. “Fine.” She looks down at her hands, at her green and white nails. The small spirals painted onto them feel like her mind, twisting and spinning around with no aim.

“I have a game on Friday. The band is playing.” She says quietly, looking back at Leo. His face is emotionless, but she can practically feel the annoyance radiating off of him.

“I’ll try and come.”

It’s not a promise. Barely even a response.

it’s the way that being at a beach house for a week finally really put me in the mood to try and write my tkachuk bros fic thats inspired by the summer i turned pretty trilogy 🤪 i posted a brief excerpt from it before, but no longer like how it is— so we’ll forget it exists ((but if you're dying to read it, you can find it here)). HOWEVER, i did decide to revamp the masterlist cover, so here it is beneath the cut!!

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

Oooooh it really depends on the fic! Sometimes, a title comes to me before the rest of the fic does; other times, it's the content itself that inspires the title. However, I almost always physically write a title first - even if it's a throwaway placeholder title - just to differentiate it from the other wips in my outline since I tend to compile all of them in one massive document 😅

As to how I come up with them, I get inspired by music quite a bit, so many of them are lifted directly from song lyrics! I'm sure you've probably noticed this trend with my dndads stuff, especially since the majority of the stuff I've posted so far is in Swiftli territory. I thought it would be cute to do Taylor Swift lyrics for those for. Um. Obvious reasons sdbkhdvkhavfs. Titles of the older things I've posted tend to be kind of poetic, even if they're not direct song lyrics. No real rhyme or reason as to why, I just think they sound neat!

27. What area of writing do you feel strongest in?

Definitely description and introspection. I absolutely adore getting into the nitty-gritty of how someone views their surroundings, the people around them, their sense of self, etc :DDD I can find it very difficult to write for characters (cough cough Taylor Swift cough cough) whose inner dialogues I can't quite pin down, because my writing of them is all informed from there! Once I crack that, though, all bets are off.

Also I just,,, really really like describing things? Finding parallels, making motifs, sprinkling in some figurative language here and there! My prose can be a little too purple at times, imo, but I don't think it would quite read as "me" without at least 5 different tangents in any given fic lmao.

well you happened to pick two of the fics i started very recently, shinkami was created like three hours ago actually but!!

this is a little oneshot that’s part of my d/s au (all sfw here, dont worry), which isn’t superrr important. it’s basically kaminari asking shinsou to use his quirk on him and lots of gay banter. mostly kaminari thinks brainwash is the coolest thing ever and it would be SO fun and shinsou is just ??? you’re not scared of me?? then they have fun with it.

in the context of the au, shinsou is the dom (cmon, i cant Not do it with that quirk) and kaminari is the sub, and he specifically wants shinsou to brainwash him into subspace bc hes a little dumb, a lot curious, and willing to try just about anything once. it’s not actually a lot of questionable decisions i was just not feeling very clever when i titled it lol. if you were wondering, i’m working with a version of shinsou’s quirk where people can still speak and do simple tasks and are like, Aware, but they dont have control, bc it’s more fun that way for Me.

tdbkdk character study

this one was created for a school project actually, i’ve been working on a video series of me writing fanfic and doing voiceover to talk about specific elements of writing it? this time i wanted to talk about keeping characters, uh, in character, and these three, as much as i love them, are hard for me to write sometimes, so i picked them.

the gist is they fight a villain with a quirk sortaaa like…weaker blackwhip? and bakugou ends up wrapped up in it with tendrils/tentacles in his mouth to keep him quiet and it brings up slime villain memories. he attempts to hold it together until he can be alone, but tddk are very persistent and eventually he breaks in front of them. i don’t have a solid plan after that, they’re not even established in this fic and idk if i want to make it a getting together thing bc it’s already like 4k words long and it would very quickly become like 20k if i did that. smthn about bnha, much more than other fandoms, just makes even my oneshots super long

tbh i this one was Not Working when i wrote it and i have some ideas for how to make it work but i havent gotten back to it. partially because, you know, i find these characters hard to write!!

intellectually i know how to do it, i can tell when other people do it right/wrong, but it’s still Rough sometimes.
