So how do baby taurs work for the equitaurs and cervitaurs in your stuff?

Oh that's a good one actually - lots to talk about! Too much for one post, but gotta start somewhere. Enjoy some messy micro scribbles peppered throughout. They were originally very very tiny so, pardon blurriness.

I've got my Taurs running overall pretty similar to equine cycles and gestations - meaning they are what you call 'long-day triggered' by the spring and summer seasons.

(Though they do cycle throughout the year, just at slower rates and less consistently over cooler seasons)

This goes for the cervitaurs too - rather than using the shorter gestation of their deer alikes - as they and their foals are a bit bigger and more complex to deal with. Which also goes to suggest that twins/multiples are not a frequent occurrence for cervitaurs in comparison to actual deer, and inherently poses as much danger as it does for equines instead. Possible, but high risk and incredibly demanding.

So, you're looking at an 11 month gestation on average, and typically starting in a mid-spring to late-summer window. Which places most taurs at being born early-spring to mid-summer. It's most uncommon to be winter born, but not weird tbh.

Foals are super awkward, there's no getting around that, and in the first year they have a ridiculous growth rate when compared to other sentient creatures of similar lifespans.

These things are weeds - the difference from one day old to three months old is phenomenal alone. They are, however, cooked a little further along than what you'd be comparing to for a newborn human. They're able to support themselves enough to avoid outright injury (think like a 3-4 month old baby), but gaining actual control of all those limbs takes a bit more time. The equine half however would be a touch undercooked for a horse. Just physically, in size. No worries about comparative internal developments, that's all good and ready to go.

So they're typically gonna spend shy of their first month feeding and sleeping, practicing rolling up, sitting and limb coordination to build strength for self-standing. If mama has places to be, that baby is getting carried.

I also absolutely subscribe to the idea of arms being naturally held close to torso prior to having balance and coordination. It would support them a lot! Then it becomes a self-soothing gesture seen in the anxious, and an instinctive positional response when badly startled. Tuck in!

By three months you can expect them to be racing on their little stilt legs - albeit still with the occasional wobble and spill. And wowee did that happen fast when you think about it.

While the zoomies are a lot, they're balanced out by the fact that so much oncoming growth means foals crash nap very frequently. These buggers sleep a lot. It's go hard and sleep hard on endless rotation. Play, snack, nap, rinse and repeat.

This accelerated growth races away throughout their first year, and then drops right back into something a bit more reasonable - at least when you're considering it from the human perspective!

Yet in comparison to how they first started out, it's practically snail paced.

I'm meaning, you look at the size of a 3 month old horse foal, and that's the closest comparison to a 2 year old taur foal in body. Every 'horse foal month' thereafter starts guiding the next 'taur foal year' visual until you hit that yearling horse look for a taur when they're 10-11 years old. Then by that point, they've reached most of their full leg length, and the next 10 years is focused on finishing the bulking out of their frame.

By rule of thumb I just have both equid and humanoid aspects grow in relative balance to each other, lanky stages and all. From the human perspective, the humanoid half grows crazy fast at first and then becomes comparatively similar. From the horse perspective, the equine half is crazy slow and always is. It would also give credit to having a higher physical durability than their animal counterparts. More time was spent growing!

It's worth noting that a lot of perceived 'weirdness' only comes from trying to compare them purely 1 to 1 with either horse, deer or human kids. Taurs are their own thing though! And nature's most consistent attitude is to Find What Works and Do it. No matter how wack, if it works it's used.

So, a rapid starting growth tapered into a much slower rate once they're stabilised and running was just the path that worked best for this Taur survival. Keep it simple!

There's always more to cover, but this is chunky enough for now. Whew!

film studies major. i must admit i don't adhere to the psych major he's given in canon, though director/producer roles aren't my first choice for him either. he goes all-in on tangible stuff for his prank, so i put him in the practical effects arena.

artist in his spare time, but big surprise he's cagey about it. like, chris sees josh's sketchbook in josh's room all the time, but he's never actually looked inside.

with both movie sfx + art, josh is practical > digital, and he only dips into digital effects or art when he absolutely needs to. i just think he's a tactile sort of guy who prefers to make things with his hands, so creating on a screen alone doesn't give him the same satisfaction.

on social media in that he has accounts, but they're sporadically active at best. he can be slow to respond to texts/dms and his responses can be short, which gives off the impression that he's disengaged or bored. he isn't, he just doesn't want to be on his phone.

this is a longstanding hc of mine that i've absolutely mentioned before, but: designed hannah's butterfly tattoo! didn't really understand why, he was like you know your tattoo artist can do one for you, right. but she insisted, and he obliged.

gay as fuck. realized young, came out young, very comfortable. as demonstrated by the fact that, much to everyone's annoyance, he wears shirts that say shit like 'employee of the month at the dick sucking factory' in public.

ok, so i've reached the point where the chris in my mind looks different enough that i get a little jumpscared when i see him in-game LMAO. i hc him both taller and heavier. he's gotta be at least 6 ft. and a chris hartley who's thin is no chris hartley at all. not to me.

does not come from money, like lower middle class. i have two totally different hcs about his family that both feel real to me: one is that he's an only child, his parents divorced when he was a kid (old enough to understand, but not quite a teenager), and he lives with his mom. the other is that his parents are not divorced, and he has a big family - lots of siblings. i've been going with the former in my fic lately, but both work for me. the constant is that his family's economic situation is more precarious than most people in the friend group, and family trips with (and funded by) the washingtons were his primary vacations.

has adhd. i find 'always on his phone bc he just loooves technology' less interesting than 'always on his phone bc he has existing attention problems.' this went undiagnosed for a while, and his performance in school suffered for it.

Here is the analysis:

I should probably preface this by saying I am in no way an expert these are just my funny assumptions. I'll be writing these as I re-read it and will go back and clean them.

I like the emphasis on the "last nine years." It was kinda unnecessary, in my opinion, unless the writers were trying to prove that A: Takaia is responsible for all the fun Artfights we've had in the past, which is likely not the intended point but semi-implied. The other common implication is B: to prove her reliability despite everything. Now I'm going with B on this one because a simple glance at the next part of the sentence reveals that wowee!! Takaia made the decision to step into a support role. Takaia did. Not anyone else- undermining the extreme unrest (because presently I cannot think of another word) in the community and among the other staff; it can be deduced, among other things, that Takaia is still very much in control of Artfight. There is no way in hell that any respectable person would willingly permit her to continue her participation in the event.

Now take this with a grain of salt, but this appears to be her scheme to develop a more balanced-presenting system while she influences it from behind the face of a supporter. Why would I say this? Throughout the entire announcement, the writers never actually directly mention what the hell Takaia did. Instead, it's replaced by ornate speech to resemble a formal apology: they are not apologizing. The authors, in my opinion, are no more against Takaia than she herself is. I do not believe there is anything going on behind the scenes that could be officially classified as a leadership transition. Although this might not be intentional, she still obviously has a huge impact on the community. If in fact I am incorrect and she has actually stepped down, both formally and in actuality, then she is still a problem because she is still obviously affecting the community's well-being. Even people that do not know of her actions, as mentioned in past anonymous submissions to this confessions page, know there is hatred and disgust associated with her. She needs to go.

Now, I'm not trying to stir up propaganda or anything of the sort, but she is clearly an issue. Every single sentence in the announcement speech is undermining the community's reaction. There is nothing in there, that I can see, of course, that simply apologizes for what happened. The authors just continuously point out Takaia's status as "former owner and founder." (Under feedback forms, right before the edit on 10/06/23.) As mentioned above, this highlights her seemingly reputable term instead of pointing out that she was a horrible leader and the only reason that she used to be one is because she willingly stepped down. They mention that one of the new co-owners is someone that stepped down, which is just a tactic to soothe us as readers. They were likely only chosen because it makes it appear that Artfight is actually changing. Who chose them? I highly doubt it was a vote by the community but hey! I might've missed that.

The authors, the new co-owners, are unfortunately not very clear in their writing of this announcement; I truly wish that they have not been corrupted by Takaia and her hold over them. I sincerely hope that I am pulling all this out of my ass, and that you guys can laugh at me for being dramatic. I do not want to think that Artfight might actually be completely fucked up.

I imagine this taking place early-mid 80’s considering the punkish vibes we (I) want (and the actual Heaven’s Gate was in the mid 70’s so it’s thematic or whatever). Kishibe is slightly younger, but not middle aged.

(I like to imagine that this is the moment where he just started growing out the gray. Shiny gray roots with black edges.)

As mentioned earlier you’re involved in the punk scene, loud and angry and so not Kishibe’s type. You probably meet him at a bar after or before or in between watching shows and rioting. You’re a bit mouthy, maybe disrespectful (Which Kishibe does like).

At first you probably assume Kishibe is straight laced, even with the piercings and scars he can’t escape looking like a haggard businessman in the suit. He might’ve drawn your attention on purpose, waiting until your leaning in his ear and making fun of how boring he is.

(Later that night he shows you how not boring he is as he fucks you over and over until you can’t even speak.)

Somehow you end up staying. He never makes you breakfast or offers you respect and you don’t do much in return. He fucks you, you fall asleep in his bed, and usually don’t wake until Kishibe has already left for work. If you’re lucky he’ll make enough coffee for two.

And after a month or however long you want to just be fucking him for, you ask for more. You’re not naive, but you are younger than Kishibe and still holding onto the idea of love. If you beg for scraps of his attention he’ll ignore you. If you bug him, desperate for anything more than rough sex, he’ll kick you out for the night. It shouldn’t be a problem because you don’t live together, you can only share his bed a few nights a week. That doesn’t stop you from crying until you can’t see and sulking back to your car.

Finally he tells you why. Kishibe is a piece of shit bastard who is definitely going to hell. You’re the angst filled young adult he picked up in a shady bar. Your idea of rebellion is yelling in the road and chucking beer bottles at buildings. Kishibe is planning government coups.

And it’s not the difference that’s the problem, it’s the fact that Kishibe is definitely going to hell. Even if you were to die (like everyone else he’s ever known) he wouldn’t see you in whatever kind of afterlife exists.

After awhile you understand that, even if Kishibe doesn’t explain it. So you’re satisfied to keep sneaking into his bed every other night and pressing kisses softer than normal against his cheek whenever you stay up longer than him (which is rare).

Kishibe might be confident that he’s going to hell, but right now you’re both on Earth, even if it’s just for the briefest moment.

man i love the way that 12 (and 13) started to play with halo canon. it's such a clever way to integrate a bunch of different assets without alienating non-halo-fans

f: ah, mm, okay, so you want me to help you rescue your friends because...? what? it's the right thing to do? t: yeah, it's called not being a dick. f: you know, if i recall, the first time these people ever asked you for help, you turned them down. figured this whole civil war thing wasn't your problem. in fact, i bet, if your friends had never been captured, you'd still refuse to lend them a hand. even if it was the "right thing to do." everyone has their price. i learned that a long time ago. and you're no exception.

whew, what a monologue. hitting them all (and tucker especially) right where it hurts and showing a teeeeensy-tiny bit of his hand in the process. felix's Baddie Moment monologue and the one at the end of this season are both really good too but this one's got to be my favorite. it's the "and you're no exception" that really seals it, tbh.

grif's sarge arc is also fantastic

tucker jumping over the crate and directly into the hole is exactly what happened to me during a spire of the watcher run a while back and blueregard was like "you hit that hole like nobody's business"

"just sayin', guy does stuff for money" is unironically THE funniest read on felix possible and i th[TRUCK PASSES BY, HORN BLARING]

"i never wanted to be a soldier, tucker. none of us did. but felix? he chose this lifestyle. and he chose it because he's good at it."

i love kimball, A Lot, and i love how much this says about chorus. no one wanted this conflict to happen. no one wanted it to get as bad as it got. and as much as she leans on felix i feel like kimball also resents him for choosing to be what he is, even before everything comes to light. she would never have chosen this. it is unthinkable that he did.

i really like that the felix-and-locus backstory doesn't come right when we meet felix, or even at the very start of 12. it's at about moment that we're thinking "is there something else going on with the way that felix always zeroes in on locus as a threat?" after the battle at the end of 11 and the sortie at the start of 12, and it's also - even as The Lie he's selling - very tasty.

(my only regret with how i watched this season originally is that i wish i'd had more time to percolate in this lovers-to-enemies scenario for felix and locus because wowee if that ain't right up my alley... and to get The Reveal after weeks would've been Something. alas.)

felix's and locus's story, as kimball knows and tells it, is also really interesting for how different it is from any other antagonistic relationship we've seen in this show so far. there's really no one else i can think of who had a similar relationship. i guess wash and the meta, if you're really reaching, but the thing about felix and locus is that they chose to be on opposing sides, and rivalry bloomed into something uglier (at least in this version of the story). it makes for a GREAT yarn and it clearly strikes tucker very deeply when kimball tells him.

i loooove that the conclusion tucker draws from his conversations with both felix and kimball is "we should stop trying to be something we're not" and that it really was kimball who (inadvertently) pushed tucker to round of everyone else and leave

nearly 45 minutes into S12 and we get the first little crumbs that something bigger might be happening than just the civil war. again, love the way the chorus arc uses other H4 assets and the hardlight weapons especially

it's interesting that locus's portion of The Lie isn't actually much of a lie at all, and from what we see of felix in the second half of 12 and then in 13, i think felix would have been entirely capable of playing it like locus did: brutal and matter-of-fact, no frills. but he chose to become a (checks notes) charismatic mercenary with a heart of gold (or whatever it was), which, you know, speaks volumes

the shot focusing on the pistol wash is carrying when he faces locus in person again :)

i love the way that locus tries to curb felix's monologue but lets him go on -- he's probably frustrated with hapless-as-fuck doyle and the others, too, and they're about to just slaughter all the reds and blues so whatever, toss felix this bone, right?

see, okay, this. this is a GOOD way to use the medium for what it is. chorus is the first time that the reds and blues (minus wash lol) have ever racked up a considerable body count. and with machinima, the whole point is that you interact with the game world in a way that's different from the gameplay itself, so this lands really well as the reds and blues making the choice to kill, rather than a video game chiding you for being violent when the only thing you can do is click button to shoot gun.

CINNASNAIL

It is here! Today is the day! Today is the pinnacle of this very blog! Cinnasnail is absolutely without a doubt my number 1 favorite Bugsnak, and as a result, one of my favorite fictional creatures ever! Snails are one of my favorite animals, and when I say “one of”, I don’t mean “close to the top of a numbered list”, I mean I have a cluster of favorite animals in no particular order, and Good Ol’ Land Snail is one of them.

Now, when I saw the announcement trailer for Bugsnax, I knew it was going to be wonderful and special. How could I not when seeing foods with googly eyes running around? With the fact that they are bug-like being emphasized? Yowza! And then there was this shot in the trailer.

SNAIL! Snails made of cinnamon rolls! Sweet, sugary snails! Some of my favorite things ever, combined! I’m not sure cinnamon rolls are my favorite food, since I do not eat them very often at all, and maybe not even quite my favorite food represented in Bugsnax, since ice cream is here, too. But they are still wonderful, and this is still a snail! Besides, I would not WANT it to be based on any other snack. There would be no better option by far! Cinnamon rolls and snails go together so perfectly! Pardon the expression, but snails are beautiful cinnamon rolls, too good for this world, too pure.

In fact, they go together so well that I had previously had the same creature idea! Not the exact same design, but a cinnamon roll snail is a cinnamon roll snail, and is wonderful to think about!

And here is a Cinnasnail I drew a few months ago, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the game’s announcement! 

And HERE is a Cinnasnail drawn by @wooljester​! Look at its heart eyestalks!!!

And that is all barely talking about Cinnasnail itself! Time to do just that! Most of its design is the cinnamon roll itself, which is of course, perfect for a snail’s spiral shell. And then there is the icing, representing to a degree both the snail’s squishy body and its slime! The eyestalks and tentacles are both made of icing and- hey hey WHAT? TENTACLES? That’s right! It is such a rare thing to see, but Cinnasnail even represents a snail’s tentacles! In some ways, this has more realistic anatomy than so many cartoon snails, and this is a pastry!

Cinnasnail’s behavior is quite simple, as to be expected. It mostly just oozes around on a wall or cliff, but do not underestimate it. I appreciate that Chandlo does not underestimate them either, seeing them as master climbers that even he can’t keep up with! It’s good to appreciate creatures for their abilities rather than take them for granted. Just look at any little bug flying around and think, that creature has the amazing ability of flight! Wowee!

Cinnasnail’s main gimmick is sort of a combination of two. It is always found JUST out of reach, which would not normally be a problem, as a Snak Trap can be easily launched at whatever you please. Cinnasnail, however, is sticky! When trapped, the trap will just stick right there. Maybe if you’re bold and agile enough, you can jump and grab it, but mostly, the Snak Grappler wil be essential for catching them.

It is possible to have Cinnasnail go on a little adventure, though! Using chocolate, it can be lured onto a Lunchpad and launched away from the wall, whre the process can be continued to get it wherever you want! After doing this, a fun thing to do is cover the Buggy Ball in chocolate and let Cinnasnail play with it. It is so happy sticking to and spinning around the ball!

I hope you all love Cinnasnail too! Though this may be my favorite, there are absolutely so many wonderful Bugsnax left to talk about, and I hope you look forward to those, too!

Alrighty I’m just gonna ramble on about my thoughts on the new quest (and things in general because I talk too much) and pray that at least some of it ends up coherent. Spoilers, by the way.

I’ve had this first theory since the last archon quest but got nervous and didn’t share, so here it is now. Maybe it’s an obvious thing that I’m just in the dark about, but I’m fairly sure that Dainsleif’s “Boughkeeper” title has a large part in explaining why he knows so much about things he really shouldn’t. From the newest quest, we learn that he is actually cursed with immortality, which could explain some it, but the guy still knows too much for it to simply be chalked up to his age. He’s literally the designated narrator for half of the official videos and knows a lot about what and who he talks about.

I suspect that the ley lines serve as an information network of some sort, and that Dainsleif’s position as Boughkeeper allows him access to it in one way or another. The only other places we really see the whole tree/branch thing is with the ley line branches, Irminsul trees, the Frostbearing Tree, and the tree who once had roots that spanned the whole continent (which we know the ley line branches were once directly a part of), all of which are connected in a way that I haven’t quite figured out yet. 

Now, from those screens that come up while the game is loading, we know that supposedly, the intertwined roots of the Irminsul trees far beneath the earth determine the pattern of the ley lines above, and we also know that ley lines are a “mysterious network that links the whole world together” and that they are said to remember everything that happens in the world. From this, I don’t think it’d be that much of a reach to say that Dainsleif can access that somehow.

Next. I do think there’s a pretty good chance that the Archons were involved in the destruction of Khaenri’ah. The Viridescent Venerer set actually tells us how the former Dendro Archon died during the cataclysm while in Khaenri’ah, which. Uh. That’s kind of really incriminating. 

However! Obviously, we’ve only heard this from Dainsleif’s point of view and he’s pretty biased considering his whole thing. We don’t know how much control Celestia has over the Archons’ actions, either, and I’m about 98% sure that some of them weren’t into it, and likely didn't even have a choice. Like, look at the Tsaritsa. Her whole thing is that sometime during the cataclysm, she witnessed something so view-shattering and unjust that her whole thing now is to “burn away the old world” and overthrow Celestia. 

I also can’t see Venti and Zhongli going along with the destruction of an entire nation with no hesitation. Like, obviously, again, Dainsleif is going to be biased, but from what we’ve been told Khaenri’ah didn’t even do anything divine-retribution-worthy. Celestia just seems be into dropping skyscraper-sized pillars and other things onto nations who get too good at being independent, for whatever reason. The new quest is definitely supposed to make us question the current systems of this world but I don’t think we’re meant to hate Venti or Zhongli, at least yet. I think they’re even kind of meant to be seen as the “best” out of the Archons, so to speak. (Not that I think they’re perfect, by any means.)

Like, just look at the way they’ve been presented to us, versus how some of the other Archons have been introduced (Storyline Trailer, my beloved). 

Raiden Shogun is made out to be some self-absorbed divine ass-kisser who doesn’t have humanity’s best interests at heart (which we know is supposed to be a thing you do as an Archon). She’s doing her whole confiscating visions and oppressive rule thing in an effort to be seen as more divine, but, as Dainsleif puts it, “what do mortals see of the eternity chased after by their god?”

The Dendro Archon/God of Wisdom is implied to not actually be as smart as somebody with that title is supposed to be, one way or another, and either has turned a blind eye to or blatantly encourages the “push for folly” in Sumeru. Can’t tell exactly what that would mean or entail (thanks, Dainsleif), but obviously. Doesn’t sound good.

Dainsleif says of the Hydro Archon that she “lives for the spectacle of the courtroom, seeking to judge all other gods. But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine.” While the not making an enemy of the divine thing I get (I guess, coward), the whole “seeking to judge all other gods” bit seems very “remove the log from your own eye”-y. Like, you’re an Archon, too, what are you trying to prove here?

The Tsaritsa is- well, the Tsaritsa, as we know. While I do think we are meant to sympathize and agree with at least part of her core ideals and motives, she still is the one behind the Fatui and is, by extension, a war criminal. She also apparently has “no love left for her people”. It’s a bit of a complicated relationship that we have with her.

The only ones who Dainsleif does not directly slander in the trailer are Venti, Zhongli, and Murata. While I don’t think we have enough on her to come to any conclusions about her character yet, Venti does say of her that she is a “wayward, war-mongering wretch”. Now, he does also jab at Rex Lapis during this voiceline, but unlike with Murata we know that those two are buddy-buddy and it was very likely that it was “buffoon (affectionate)”.

Venti and Zhongli are also the first two Archons we encounter, which is important for multiple reasons.

Gonna derail for a bit because I don’t know where to start. But. The game very likely will (or at least should) end with no Archons.

Obviously, especially in light of the new quest (although this stuff has been floating around since the Dragonspine update and even before that), Celestia Bad. Like, cataclysmically bad (lmao). In fact, I’m highly certain that you could trace basically every problem in this game back to them, some way or another.

Even our main “villain” groups all seem to be gunning for Celestia. The Fatui obviously work for the Tsaritsa, who’s made it very clear that she plans to rebel against the divine. The Abyss Order, too, has their Deeply Upsetting plan of creating a mechanized god with the power to “topple the divine thrones of Celestia”.

Evidence points to an overthrow of Celestia at some point in the game, and considering how being an Archon or even a god is directly tied to Celestia, yeah. No more Celestia means no more Archons.

But even besides that, there’s a lot there to suggest that that’s where things are going.

I find it interesting how Mondstadt’s our prologue chapter, or that there’s even a prologue chapter of the game at all. Prologues are meant to set up ideas that will be present throughout the rest of the story, and Mondstadt does exactly that. Venti’s let the people of Mondstadt govern themselves and has almost completely been out of the equation for millennia, even if that means he is significantly weaker than his godly peers. When asked why he chose to do that instead of remain in charge and just give them freedom, Venti responds that “freedom, if demanded of you by an archon, is really no freedom at all.” This sentiment is also brought up in the Mondstadt portion of the storyline trailer, and the traveler even has a whole voiceline debating what Venti really meant when he said that.

This idea of freedom and that humanity is capable on its own is further reinforced in Chapter 1, in which Liyue learns to move on from the death of its Archon. Zhongli set up his plan with the intention of testing if his people could stand on their own legs without him there to guide them, and they do. He even expresses how pleasantly surprised he is that the Qixing were able to take advantage of the situation and seize control like they did. Keqing gives us this whole speech when we first meet her about how the adepti and gods underestimate humanity’s capability and how Liyue’s future is meant to be a godless one. This, in a way, extends to the rest of the continent as well.

In the storyline trailer (which I quote too often, I’m sorry. My favorite and only party trick is that I got bored one day and memorized the whole thing), Dainsleif spends the entire Khaenri’ah section musing about something similar. 

“In the perpetual meantime of a sheltered eternity, most are content to live and not to dream. But in the hidden corner where the gods’ gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming,” is obviously about the people of Teyvat vs. those in Khaenri’ah. While a future under the care of the Archons is a safe and reliable one, is it one that allows humanity to chase its potential to the fullest? Khaenri’ah was destroyed for flourishing like it did without gods, both as a punishment and a warning to everybody else.

“Some say a few are chosen and the rest are dregs, but I say we humans have our humanity.” This is in reference to visions. Throughout the game, this idea that, at least in the eyes of the gods, vision holders are more important than those without them, is constantly brought up.

In the commission “Leaves on the Wind”, Dr. Edith expresses how it often seems as if vision holders are the main characters of this world. From the notebooks we receive during the “Time and Wind” world quest, we learn that the Sumeru Academia actually discourages non-vision holders from conducting outdoor surveys, and how “these days... trying to be an academic when you don't have a Vision, it's really restricting...” Dainsleif even just straight up asks us what we think the gods think of vision holders and people in general during question time in that one quest.

In Lisa’s stories, we learn that the reason for her laziness is that a part of her is afraid of learning or doing too much, after witnessing what “uninhibited erudition” can do to people during her time in Sumeru. She also senses that something beneath the surface is happening regarding the distribution of visions. “For whatever reasons, the gods gave humans the key to changing everything, but they did not explain the cost involved. Lisa grew fearful of the truth.”

I forgot exactly where I was going with that last paragraph, but yeah. There’s definitely sketchy shit going on behind the scenes in regards to visions, possibly to keep people either quiet or complacent. I suspect it may even be to restrict access to certain knowledges or even the elements themselves. Anyways.

I lose track of my thoughts too often. Fuck. Right. Mondstadt and Liyue served as good examples of society under the rule of the Archons, and in Chapter 2 we will encounter our first bad example, showing us the pros and cons of the current situation. However, despite Zhongli and Venti seeming to genuinely care for their people, humanity’s wellbeing shouldn’t be reliant on how their god is feeling that day, and they shouldn’t have to look to the gods for a chance to become something greater than themselves, either.

Um. All that’s to say I’m just very excited to see where the story will go, and if Zhongli’s contract with the Tsaritsa is any indication then it’s gonna go somewhere good. Celestia bad, Archons bad but also not bad but also bad, I don’t know if what I just wrote actually even counts as understandable, thank you and good night.

Heehoo new story time! First new original story since forest ward back in March, wowee I've been obsessed with my old stories this year huh 😅

Premise: Two new employees of an art gallery discover the secrets of its sudden success over the past year, uncovering the story of a families death- and its rebirth, in the form of living paintings.

Characters -

Teal: The son of the deceased previous owner of the gallery. Seems well meaning, though eccentric.

Pink: The gallery's new social media manager. Peppy, curious, and creative.

Orange: The newest night gaurd of the museum. Struggles with chronic fatigue, but trudges along.

Red: A painting titled the little champion, who comes to life at night. Afraid of being forgotten.

Purple: An painting titled unfinished, who also comes to life at night. Treats the museum like her own playground, and pretends she doesn't wish she was a human.

Blue: primarily a painting new bowtie, although part of him also resides in The Murderer and wilting laurel. Rarely leaves his spot but to speak to his children, red and purple.

Storylines -

She's art: Pink discovers that purple is a living painting. Purple tries to trap Pink in a painting so she can't tell, but they end up taking a liking to eachother (🏳️‍🌈) and Pink gets to know the wonderful world of the living gallery :)

Not a word: The new night guard begins to vent his problems to a painting tucked away which particularly speaks to him (figuratively, not litterally.) The painting, Blue, doesn't feel along for the first time since he died, and tries to find ways to communicate advice to Orange through moving around the composition of other paintings, and share information his death through moving newspapers and files for Orange to find.

Tw murder, suicide, and death!

Last laugh: The story of the death of Red, told to his new friend Pink through way of adventure through the many paintings in the museum. Long story short the child who played baseball (the little champion), feeling treated like a freak by his mother (multiple paintings centered around the artists wife) and sister (unfinished) and ignored by his father, as a teenager attempts to finally leave some mark on the world by committing suicide by jumping in front of a train (wilting laurel.) And he found after his death that he didn't make a mark on the world, just on his father, who had made a single painting of him, finished an hour after Red had left the house without Blue's knowledge. Blue would kill himself out of the depression of losing his 3 family members a month later, erasing all that was left of Red in the world but the painting he was trapped in, a tiny spec on it too.

Toxic: The story of Purples death- A cruel teenage girl who often used making fun of others to make herself powerful in the one world she had control over. she was unfortunately murdered by a group of friends through poisoning on the night of her senior prom, and died alone in her room late at night after she went home sick. She woke up in this gallery, and has been here waiting for her friends since, hoping that maybe one day she'll see them again, and hear them say it wasn't them, and that they can save her from this painted hell she's trapped in.

When he died: Orange uncovers the interesting situations surrounding the death of Blue and his family. The gallery experienced a large boost in activity when his paintings were installed, despite the fact that the painter himself seemed to be someone no one had ever noticed. Strange symptoms were exhibited by people seeing them and yada yada probably haunted, the painting the murderer might have been made partially using the blood of the painters dead daughter which is *concerning*, Teal and Pink both get shady as hell when Orange brings it up, and something is definitely fucked up here but Orange still needs to look into more to figure out what

There's more ghings in this story since I started this post but those ones give you the basics of everyone but teal ^-^ might tell u his story later!

Okay so. Allow me to set the stage. This concept is technically a historical au and takes place with Sukuna in his original form, as in four arms 6-10 feet tall mouth on his stomach original form.

The Mc is a half-blood (father was a curse mother was a shaman, similar to choso in a way) who's been thrown out/expelled/driven out etc etc of shaman society. Basically the branded them a curse user when they weren't and Mc said bet "you want a villain? I'll give you a fucking villain" chaotic neutral, doesn't go after civilians just fucks shit up for the higher ups and shamans but despite their high placement among special grades keeps to themselves. They live in a cabin in the woods and are self sustaining. They have money stored up in case the need it and occasionally sell the things they make (flower arraignments, ceramics, calligraphy, masks) in villages on a rare occasion. They always wear a mask when they go into down or work as a curse user for a number of reasons but mostly because they hate having people see their face as the left side of their face is disfigured from their cursed blood and they have a concerning amount of scars. And I don't mean like Hollywood disfigurement I mean the skin is matted together and looks like it was burned, they have an extra eye and the skin is grossly discoloured and ashen. Their scars are all over their body and range from typical cuts and a few burns to this series of scars, several of which are on their face, that look as though something tried to burrow into their skin.

Now fun fact: cats were domesticated in Japan by the early heian era but were a luxury of the aristocracy. So the Mc meets Sukuna when he's raiding one of the higher ups estates and they're stealing that guys cat because he tried to have an execution order placed on them after they saved his ass a few weeks ago against a special grade and they're bitter.

Thus is how Sukuna and the Mc get into a homoerotic (they're gender neutral so *vague hand gestures*) fight scene and at one point the mc manages to get the upper hand, specifically shortly after he said something about being the king of curses. And they just smile and say "yeah well I'm afraid that a king isn't much to anarchist, Princess." Before grabbing their new cat sending me a salute and falling backwards off the roof of the estate in their typical dramatic fashion (they felt so cool doing it they forgot that this was Sukuna they were dealing with and that might not have been the best move)

This ensues an enemies to allies to lovers to possibly tragic romance fic between the Mc and Sukuna because they keep. Running. Into. Each. Other. And neither is strong enough or clever enough to kill the other and after some hate bonding over shamans and how they run things Sukuna comes to the horrifying realization that he's grown an emotional attachment to them.

Just fluff hurt/comfort from there, Sukuna having to address his prejudice before the Mc so much as gives him the honest time of day because he just wants them on his side and it's definitely nothing else, definitely not, and if he needs to do that to do it then fine. Both of them never really admitting their feelings because they're too prideful but at some point they cross the line between allies and lovers and it's comfortable and he's happy, he's genuinely happy.

And then it all comes crashing down when a minor argument escalates he forget's his strength at time and while waving one of his hands around to get the point across and accidentally slit their throat because he didn't realize they were that close and assuming their just being dramatic it's not until several minutes that he realized what he's done because you can't heal a corpse.

Oh yeah and all of this is set to the songs, For The Departed (shayfer James) Achilles Come Down (gang of youths) and Angel of Sweet Death and the Codeine Scene (hozier). Anyways this got really long but yeah Sukuna x Curse User!Mc tragic romance with a pride and prejudice inspired dynamic with dark academia and lowkey cottage core vibes brainrot

Wowee. Can I just say??? This was amazing. Also, the music choices are excellent — and I can just see this unfolding. Like, I can’t really add anything, because it’s perfect, also dark academia vibes with Sukuna.... it just clicks. (Also, men in peacoats just does something for me. And turtlenecks. And rings... sukuna with rings on...  nice. )

Also, there’s something I can see just in OG form Sukuna and the bonding of curse user MC, that comes after the tense fight scene, and this art of making a villain that the shaman community seems to be so good at (like I have my theories on sukuna and how he was made into a curse after death — especially if he was both human and a jujutsu sorcerer himself during that lifetime), so, you think they would have learned, but old habits die hard, right? plus, biased society never learns, and they fear what they don’t understand, and I find it fascinating in terms of the appearance — where sukuna and his two faces, and technically how half of it is turned sideways can be considered deformed to an extent, and just that these two people who would be considered monstrous in appearance would be able to get over that in an instance because they both suffer from the discrimination that comes from it.

I’m also detecting some rivals to lovers tension as well, but I can’t exactly explain it. But thank you for sharing this! I love it tbh.

Impromptu Ramblings about the NEO:TWEWY Demo

In case y'all weren't aware, I've been a pretty big fan of TWEWY for a couple years now, and with the sequel coming out next month, the excitement I feel for this game is greater than ever :) I played the Demo for the first time yesterday, and following a couple views of some livestreams of others playing it, I felt like sharing my (very ramble-y) thoughts prior to the release of the full game. This post WILL contain spoilers for both TWEWY and NEO:TWEWY, so if you want to avoid those from now on, please block the tags: #twewy spoilers, #ntwewy spoilers, #neo twewy spoilers, #ntwewy, and #neo twewy ^_^ Oh, and if you wanna keep up with any other posts I make about my experience with this game, please refer to the tag "kat plays neo twewy" :)

-First things first: I have not watched the Final Trailer and I don't plan on doing so to avoid spoilers, especially after the pre-release era of KH3 where a lot of the later trailers spoiled a lot of the endgame content. That being said, I've seen some minor screenshots from the final trailer including what many believe to be characters from the original TWEWY, namely Shiki and Joshua. That is all I know about the Final Trailer and I would very much like to remain as blind as possible going into NEO :)

-The very first cutscene was quite ominous in the sense that this game is likely going to be about "changing fate" (a recently common theme in Squeenix games, which I do appreciate), perhaps leading off from the end of A New Day in the OG and trying to stop an Inversion of Shibuya. Also worth noting that A New Day had similar aspects in which the main character experienced "future visions" of tragic events, although in A New Day these events were not able to be changed, while in NEO it seems like one of the main "powers" our protagonist has is specifically to rewrite these events and avoid a "bad ending." Very interesting indeed!

-I really like the revamped comic book style dialogue scenes, it's much more fluid and modern, which is an excellent direction for the series to take!

-I would love to have an actual PokemonGO knockoff of Final Fantasy creatures, please Squeenix that would be incredibleeeeee

-Also the LINE stickers??? Are so cute???

-I would just like to point out that Fret is an absolute treasure throughout this entire demo, he's hilarious and I will protect him with my life

-UHHHH don't like that Fret picked up some Reaper Pins just out of nowhere.....or the fact that they're apparently popular all over Shibuya.............did y'all not learn anything from the OG game or what lmao

-Okay so when I first got the "curry or ramen" scene and heard NPCs talking about the new curry place replacing the old ramen place I became IMMENSELY distressed that Ramen Don was totally cut from the game because....well, Ramen Don is a King okay?? But I'm glad to learn that no, he didn't fall off the face of the earth, he's still in business and he's the one opening the curry restaurant lolol. PHEW, crisis averted!

-.....I don't like the sudden appearance of a Wall Reaper and being able to read NPC thoughts. Wtf happened when they left the ramen place??? Are they playing the Game alive somehow?

-Okay so I have my own theories about this "Swallow" character and what they're up to but considering this is only the Demo and I still Have No Idea What's Happening, I'm just gonna say that I think Swallow intentionally led Rindo and Fret to the Crossing so they could join the Game. I mean, add in the fact that Swallow still communicates with Rindo during the Game and you've got yourself a suspicious character right there lol

-"Hey they're shooting off fireworks!" Fret honey that's not fireworks oof (see also: "*laughs* I'm in danger")

-WOOOOOO way to traumatize Rindo right off the bat like that LMAOO

-The visuals for the intro are VERY GOOD, the song is pretty decent until it gets all "screamo" (which I absolutely cannot stand sorry lol)

-Shoka is every Customer Service employee ever and I respect that

-Susukichi went from being "meh" to "WOW THIS GUY IS FUN" in the span of 10 seconds and I also respect that (he is also built like an Absolute Unit which is hilarious)

-The Wall Reapers (and just Reapers in general) seem.....way nicer and more helpful this time around?? Like in the OG the Wall Reapers were SO RUDE gfhjgjdfkhn and yeah I'm sure we'll get some like that but the juxtaposition of the first Wall Reaper in the OG compared to the first one in NEO is insane.

-The puzzles are quite a bit more entertaining this time around even if it's generally the same "fetch quest" formula lol

-"Rindo's Group" way to go Fret HFKJDGHSDFKJ mans really left the default name in there lmao

-OKAYOKAYOKAY so to those who aren't aware I am a MASSIVE SIMP for Sho Minamimoto, he's my absolute favorite and I think about him daily. HIS INTRODUCTION IS. INCREDIBLE. I LOVE IT SM.

-GOD hearing him actually SPEAK FULL SENTENCES is just SO SURREAL I love this sm

-Also the remix of his theme???? NEO TRANSFORMATION????? IT'S SO GOOD????????? It's like gone from a Boss Theme to a more triumphant sounding theme and I am HERE for it (every version of Transformation is just INCREDIBLE and getting a new one is even better)

-I Love Him, Your Honor

-Also idk how exactly but it's kinda weird seeing Sho in the OG vs NEO, cuz while he's mostly the same Insane Math-Obsessed Catboy, he's.....calmed down quite a bit?? Like OG made a whole point of how poorly he cooperates with others (not to mention just being completely unhinged and trying to kill everyone), whereas here in NEO he's......actually kinda working with others??? HELLO???? Sir what happened to you and Neku during those 3 years I would love to know all about it

-I guarantee you Sho is still probably scheming shite and will likely pull some total insane BS later down the road, and I am very much looking forward to that. Also, is he looking for a certain Pin or something??? Cuz he keeps talking about different Pins and even mentions "this is just another Psych Pin" like he's actively looking for a Pin to do something with. Maybe it also has to do with the "latent powers of Players" thing he mentioned as well??? What is this dude UP TO oml (also is he in contact with Neku at all?? they're both technically fugitives at this point right?? WHAT HAPPENED AFTER A NEW DAY I AM BEGGING YOU)

-I seems like Sho ALSO has an idea of what's going on in this specific game (even if he won't admit it straightforward). Per his quote "The game's 142,857. Factor it out," he's essentially saying, "This game is a neverending cyle, figure out how to get out of it" (or at least that's what I got from his "cyclic number" nonsense lolol)

-I do like how Sho mostly stays out of sight until he's needed for a battle or assisting with a mission, that's kind of on par with his whole "uncooperative" quirk from the OG, plus he might literally have to stay out of sight of other Reapers and Players considering he's likely breaking the rules of the Game (not surprising considering him and Neku broke practically every rule in the book during OG)

-The nicknames for Sho- I can't- They're so FUNNYYYY GFHJSDFKJ

-He goes from being called "Pi-Face" and "Tabooty" in OG to "Mr. Minami" and "M-Teezy" in NEO LMAOO

-(Wowee I just realized I've been mostly talking about Sho oopsies sorry y'all, this is what I meant by thinking about him almost daily he is THAT much of a fav of mine ghfkjsd)

-Okay RIP Fret and Rindo for not getting literally ANY explanation as to how the Game works OOF, that is kinda cringe that whoever gets the Pin earns points, not whoever erases the Noise (which like I understand but also URRRGGHHH I WANNA SEE THE SQUAD SUCCEED)

-Also love the mention of parents in this game???? KH you could learn a thing or two from TWEWY (poor Rindo's mom fhgjkdh)

She asked him for help twice?? You literally had the choice to say no, she didn't force you to do anything??? Why are people fully raging at her for asking for help, all the NPCs in the game ask him for help. It's a video game. This is the normal way for plot to progress and for characters to interact.

I don't know any women I pine for because I wanted to marry them until dramatic circumstances meant we could never be together so I suppose I can't be sure BUT if an old friend who I hadn't seen in years, who I'd once cared about but for whatever reason we don't talk anymore, asked me to help them because their brother joined a cult and I was as capable of doing so as Arthur is...I would obviously help? Okay it's easier said than done and I completely understand why Arthur can't do that but it makes perfect sense she'd want him to.

1) being an outlaw is dangerous. How many times does Arthur nearly die? In the end it's being in that gang and doing Strauss' dirty work that DOES get him killed. So either she gets killed for being with him or she has to watch him get killed instead. Sounds great.

2) being an outlaw means he's always wanted and always on the run, not a lot of people want that lifestyle. Is Mary really a horrible person because she doesn't want to leave her family and her home and EVERYTHING behind to be hunted down for the rest of her life?

I'm not going to go super into this because I can't be bothered right now but this is 1899, when Arthur first proposed it was even before that. Women didn't even have the vote and wouldn't for YEARS yet. Women were seen as their fathers property until they got married when they became their husbands property. Arthur is especially angry with her father for a REASON. Mary would of had very little to absolutely no say in who she married unless she eloped which would mean being disowned by her family.

So maybe you're thinking "well then the bitch should of eloped!" Okay so she could never see anyone in her family ever again and they'd hate her forever. Could Arthur of done that with the gang? He doesn't even talk back to Dutch until he's literally dying of TB and has nothing left to lose. Going against family isn't so easy. If it was the other way around, Arthur would have to go against Dutch (the controlling father who Mary also has) and leave John behind (the bean brain little brother Mary ALSO HAS)

This one I see where you're coming from a little. I just don't think it comes from a place of malice. A couple of things tell me she truly never stopped loving him.

1) She kept the ring! All those years and she'd kept it with her. She says she never stopped thinking of him and there's the proof of that. She also kept a photograph of them together just as he had a photo of her in his tent throughout the game.

2) she asked him AGAIN to run away with her. The offer was there!! She waited for him and he robbed a bank instead. What more could she of done? As much as I understand why Arthur had to finish his business with the gang he basically stood her up.

She might of broken his heart but he broke her right back. Maybe she gives him false hope but he does just the same with his 'once I get enough money' and 'just one more big job' like wowee he sounds like Dutch. It'll never be enough money and it'll never be a last job unless he's dead. He knows that and she knows that and it's a tragedy.

Do I think Mary is perfect? No of course not. Both of them made mistakes and it was a tragic situation, thats the whole point. Do I think she deserves the enormous amounts of hate she gets in the fandom? Absolutely not. Another character who gets a lot of hate from what I've seen is Abigail. It's almost as of...yall hate the female characters...who ruin your ships!! :000 who'd of thunk it.

I'm 100% sure that if we experienced the story from her perspective she'd get less hate but lets be honest, she'd still get hate because female characters always get more hate.

Like I said this is my take and I don't wanna hear a PEEP. I don't want to get frustrated repeating myself to people making the same three points over and over again.

When Arthur first goes to see her in Valentine he says something like 'so you're husband died and now you're looking for me is that it?' And she says 'no that's not it.' If she was being manipulative or leading him on she wouldn't of been so clear. She would of either said something vague to give him hope that if he does this favour for her then she'll be with him or outright lied and said that was the case BUT SHE DOESN'T she's 100% clear and honest and tells him the reason she wrote him was for help.

uh. i'm fairly introverted? not good at the whole relating to humans thing. i either don't talk at all or way too much at a time, and talking way too much at a time generally has the range of being accidentally witty or accidentally Offending Everyone so generally i just shut up. i really like learning things? i kind of want to know everything. so i'm the kind of person that gets lost in those blue words on wikipedia for several hours at a time. generally the only way i know how to start conversation is with fun facts (or, unfortunately, tapeworm images) and that's had a track record of scaring people so i've stopped that. i like wandering around, not just physically but with concepts. i sort of uhhh dig way too far into quantum physics and philosophical explanations for the universe so that i can tear them apart and make my own theories for This Whole Existence Thing, usually with the intention of rambling about it and scaring people. i don't know why but i just really really like questioning reality and making my family members uncomfortable by asking them questions they can't answer with a bible :) i had a therapist once and he told me that i try to be tough but i'm not. and i guess that's part of my personality too. i am both an impulsive dumbass and very very pathetic and actually incapable of standing up for myself in any way shape or form !!! and holy hell this is a really big paragraph ok i think i will stop now

Dear Diary 33 pt 2

We get to the clinic and Scorpius is on his way to recovery. I’d say full but I have no idea the condition of his balls and I do not want to know please no one tell me.

Not everything needs to be shared among friends.

Anyway, we get there and Aria is trying to get pizza off of a kid named Var (who reminds me of a wilder, more vulgar version of my little brother. He’s cute, I’d spoil him. Little brothers are meant to be spoiled, it’s how you throw them off when they least expect it) which I’m amazed by because we’d just eaten. Aria’s got a huge appetite I guess.

So anyway, we get there and Scorpius is ready to show off his huge manga that’s got a detailed version of his revenge plan against Khallendra, the Siren captain that assaulted him and literally crushed his family jewels. The first step of his revenge plan was to pee in the Siren’s practice pool.

We quickly decided we needed a new plan of action. Ray was there, bless him, and together with Aria the whole room tried to put our heads together. Eigaar was less than impressed with our influence on a young boy but well, that wasn’t really our problem, sadly. And well, that kid really didn’t need our help to come up with schemes and plots anyway - he’s a little shit all on his own. I really don’t think we can make things any worse. If anything, he helped us. I think he’s darling.

Just in case something happens and this diary gets compromised, I won’t write our plan down until after the fact. But it’s a good plan.

I won’t continue discussing what happened at the clinic save for the fact that Garlean technology is frightening. Some weird contraption nearly ate Aria and we had to do an emergency stop on it. I left shortly after that since we’d finished discussing what we needed to.

Then there was the Plume! Wowee was that a night! We had fighting on and off the stage! It was a pretty busy night, we didn’t have a bartender so Conor and I were splitting duties and tag teaming. There was this dotharl woman who was pretty snooty and making a fuss about this and that while getting drunk. That wasn’t really an issue, I suppose, since she knew Conor and he was handling her. She was mostly just distracting since I had other tables besides hers to wait on.

Then there was Shampoo Hair Advertisement Murder Hobo Guy who looked like he had come there specifically to stab anyone who looked at him wrong and look fabulous doing it...which was both amusing and annoying at the same time. You can’t be a murder hobo and attractive. Pick one my guy.

So anyway, I called out a warning about fighting outside of the stage since tensions were rising with Murder Hobo Shampoo Hair but oh no, it wasn’t him that decided not to follow the rules.

It was the dotharl. Because Zhao called her a barbarian. Because of course she did. It’s what Zhao does. If she doesn’t insult someone at least once during the course of the night it’s not Zhao.

Of course, Miss I’m From The Steppes and in The Steppes We Disembowel Anyone Who Insults Us didn’t know that so she decided to break out an axe and start swinging. Because that’s how my night was going to go, I suppose. Let’s prove the person who called us a barbarian wrong by...acting like a barbarian!

She blatantly ignores the entire staff when we ask her to disarm because, why listen to us, I guess? We only work there. Goes on a rant about, fuck if I know at this point she’s drunk and I’ve all but stopped caring about her reasons. Blah blah blah, Zhao hurt my feelings, blah blah blah, I’m a dotharl, blah blah blah, I guess the establishment needs to take responsibility for what its patrons say at a bar, because that makes perfect sense.

It doesn’t, but whatever.

So we’re cowards for some reason, I had lost track of her logic long ago and my empathy meter reached zero around when Zhao walked away and she still didn’t put away her fucking weapon.

Oh wait, there’s more! Because the drunk crazy woman didn’t want to let it go! She eventually is talked down by Conor and leaves...oh wait she didn’t. No, she hangs outside and harasses people as they’re leaving. Specifically Murder Shampoo Hobo and Finn, of all people? Someone completely unrelated to the incident! Everyone except the person who originally insulted her! Gotta love drunks!

By this point the place has nearly cleared out with the exception of regulars, and my fight has ended (my winning streak is over, oh no. Kidding, I’m not really mad about it) so we can clearly hear something is going on outside. We get out there and Finn has been bloodied by this woman and Tamala looks like she wants to murder.

We’re able to get things under control and finally psycho axe lady gets the hint that maybe what she’s doing isn’t earning her any friends. She starts cursing and spitting and whatever else drunk jerks do before they piss off to whatever drunk holes they go to settle in.

I don’t really care if she comes back or not, but I’d really like it if the bar sets a hard limit on what she gets to drink. That was a nightmare. And maybe if she does come back, it’s with thicker skin. Getting called a name at a fight club is hardly the worst offense that can happen to you that you need to break out a whole axe and wait for people to come out to start fights with them. If she’s that sensitive when she’s drunk then we need to ban her from the bar.

The grudge match between the Gil Turtles and the Sirens was shortly after that. I only went to cheer on Scorpius, who had joined onboard with the Turtles (they needed bodies for the game) for the sake of revenge. And boy was he angry. It was a good game, and although it didn’t count for anything, I wasn’t mad about the fact that the Turtles trounced the Sirens (after a shoot off).

I’ll give it to the Siren’s goalie. Ga Bu did a great job catching Neroki’s kick. The poor little guy looked like that took years off his total lifespan.

A few days later we met with Lord Thiji, mostly to give thanks for his sponsorship. We had a lovely dinner and he gave us our gifts early, these cute turquoise chocobo chicks. I originally named mine Warkie but he was a rambunctious little guy! He would run in circles and then go on the attack! He went after Hath’s tail but Hath caught on and he was too quick. The little guy was a little miffed but not deterred. He then made a beeline for Ray’s tail and I’m not sure if it’s because Ray really loves cute things but he didn’t even fight it and his tail got chomped.

The look on poor Ray’s face as he tried to continue conversation with a chocobo chick attached to his tail. At least the little chick looked happy?

Eventually, he got bored with that and I was able to snag him. He kept trying to bite my horns though, so I renamed him to Bitey. Little bugger is adorable when he’s not trying to go after my tail or horns. When I brought him home he was very curious about Fènghuáng, who looked offended I had brought home another bird, and a chick at that. He huffed and puffed out his chest and fluttered about. I had to give him some treats to calm him down. Bitey is very curious about Fènghuáng, who refuses to come down from his high perch now and just looks down at the curious Bitey with this air of superiority.

I have some strong personalities in my apartment. I don’t know how I’ll be able to take care of this little chick, I’ll have to talk to the apartment managers. I should be able to set aside a little area for now, but once he starts getting a little bigger maybe they’ll let me stable him?
