kabru is canonically too smart for miscommunication trope. if anything laios would flirt with him One Single Time and kabru catches on immediately and runs it through his mental processor (does laios not know what he's doing? -> no he does. is he doing this to practice?? -> laios would not lead me on like that -> is he aware of how i feel? -> am i aware of how i feel???) and then literally the next time laios is free he schedules a meeting they sit down at the table kabru leans across looks him dead in the eyes and says very calmly on a scale of im just playing to lets get married how serious are u about this

You Should Be Playing: Nezumi Graverobber

Champions of Kamigawa is secretly the most influential set in the history of Commander. It was there at the beginning, and you can still feel it's influence all these years later in decision space, card design, and format philosophy.

But there are a ton of cards that were near format staples that have been forgotten over the years. Some of them, like Nezumi Graverobber, are absolute blowouts.

What are you looking for in your to drops?

Utility? I'll guarantee you're not playing enough graveyard hate as it is. Nezumi Graverobber isn't the most efficient tool in the world, but he is more than sufficient to hold back the reanimator and value players at the table.

Need some tribal synergies? Here's a useful little Rat Rogue or Wizard for you.

Value through the entire game? Here's one two-drop that is just as good a draw on turn 6 as it is on 2. In fact, it probably has more targets to remove if you draw it late.

How about the ability to single-handedly win the game? Not too many two-drops can dominate the end game like Nezumi Graverobber. Reanimate opposing fatties to dominate combat, trigger every EtB known to man, or just get the biggest, scariest dude you can find to close out the game.

Not bad for a two.

The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. I love the licensed doctor who ttrpg where the author clearly has some sort of personal disdain towards non human or campy player characters but contractually can't exclude them (on account of it's doctor who) so instead opts to passive aggressively bully people out of playing aliens and having funny names

inexplicability/unknowability in art is not often understood as an intentional artistic decision, let alone respected as one. I'd almost call it entitlement on the part of audience, but it's not even that, really. it's a complete inability to ask - was this ever meant to be understood in full? is there a reason why it wouldn't be? is it uncomfortable to think about? maybe it is supposed to be uncomfortable to think about.

On one hand, Young Justice is kind of neglected by the actual superheroes that should be looking out for them in a lot of crucial ways and very much failed by the adults around them

But on the other hand Red Tornado straight up hosts a parent-teacher conference where their respective legal guardians all show up, barring Batman who’s in traffic so Nightwing fills in instead because Robin’s dad does not know he’s a vigilante which is objectively hilarious

You Should Be Playing: Miraculous Recovery

Nothing portents a great commander game like an instant-speed blow-out from a weird, off-color card from the 90's.

That's why I play a ton of Miraculous Recovery. Five mana isn't nothing, but being instant speed solves a ton of problems. And no one ever expects it.

White is technically second in reanimation to black - but nobody really thinks about that.

And that's why you will wreck folks in your Boros, Azorius, and Selesnya decks.

Cheat that fatty out. Ambush folks in combat. Go get those EtB triggers. All at instant-speed. With nothing but white mana.

Oh yeah - you also get a +1/+1 counter. For funsies.
