Healing isn’t linear 🏹 & Life is nvr perfect 💝 . . . but in each moment there is an opportunity for both. Not in the way society tells us it must be but in the way we can show up for ourselves; taking deep big belly breaths & reminding ourselves that we are perfect, always as is in any given moment ✨ Everything lined up in this way for us to be who we are rn 🪷 April was #SexualAssaultAwareness & #ChildAbusePrevention month & I wanted to address how this is more common than we as society like to admit. I’m not here to place blame or to make anyone uncomfortable but this is a real life issue that is prevalent in most of our lives in one way or another ❤️‍🩹 From child molestation, to rape, to unwanted advances, & the list can go on but we are familiar with it. I myself was abused as a very young girl for several years & I truly didn’t realize until my 30s that I’ve nvr actually dealt with it. I finally told someone at 12 when I had a mental brkdown, & then again at 16 when a lot was changing in my life, did therapy, even family therapy & I thought hey that’s it, it’s done. I’m okay. But am I? Was I? No I wasn’t bc there was a plethora of feelings deep within that even I wasn’t aware of at first. It took me until now to finally face that; to know that it was an experience that happened to me 💔 Sexual assault is nothing to be ashamed of , nothing to feel guilty over. It was something that was experienced. We didn’t ask for this , or do anything to warrant it. It’s what happened & it is our responsibility to ourselves to heal from it 💞 Whatever that means to you I truly hope you find it 💕 & it can be very different from one to the next. I personally saw an energy healer who took me on a journey within to face it & to feel free from it. I forgive my abuser, & all that were involved around those years. W O R L D M E N T A L H E A L T H A W AR E N E S S D A Y . . . For me, every day is mental health awareness day as I have been incredibly open about the batttles I have had with depression for most of my adult life. Weirdly, I stopped drinking alcohol on 29.09.2008 and I actually believed my mental health would improve however it has been the opposite as I have become more aware of the nature of depressive bouts. Over the years I have lost a few friends to suicide and I am well aware that 'suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem' but my experience has taught me that others are not as open or as vocal as I have been or am. Exercise; regular and consistent exercise has been a huge part of my recovery from depression. Just getting out for a walk, a bike ride or a simple stretching flow helps me to ground myself. Regular attendance at AA meetings has supported my recovery from alcoholism and addiction as well as calming my mind and alleviating triggers affecting my mental health. Back in 2018 after a huge life change, relationship breakup, relocation and career move I was so low, suicide ideation was a daily occurrence and thank God for the Samaritans helpline as a lovely guy listened to me for over 45 minutes and helped me see why living was an option. I will be forever grateful to that lifeline and listening ear. So, just for today, I can choose my feelings and I can choose to start my day again, even at 2pm... There iS a solution...and YOU are not alone... Please, please do not suffer in silence. .pick up the phone, send a message...even when your head is telling you how shit you are...it is NOT true...they are thoughts and thoughts are NOT reality anymore than some posts on social media are reality... The numbers 513, 1053 and 1131 repeatedly entered my life, particularly in the beginning stages of healing, rejuvenating, renewing and recalibrating. I wrote the numbers down so I wouldn't forget them because I knew they were meaningful messages. I simply did not know the meaning at the time I kept seeing them. Now that I don't feel like I am spiraling down a dreamy like vortex, I recently researched these numbers. I had to learn the significance of them because things did get tough for me. My only regret is that I did not research the numbers sooner. Anyway, the tough parts I was experiencing have smoothed out, but I am still having sleepless nights, severe dehydration and loss of appetite. I continue to drink lots of water and am still eating once a day. In my research, I found it to be very interesting because I was struggling to gain strength at the most weakest moments. I had tunnel vision feeling like I was spiraling into darkness away from the light and I felt very alone. So, I took what I learned about these numbers and wrote my own affirmations out of the enlightening information I learned about these numbers. These numbers are so majestic and cool! I love them! Morning Team Sobriety...! Just wanted to check in as I near an anniversary...this is usual for me to become pensive and tearful leading up to a birthday (Iwill be 52 years old on 26th and 14 years clean and sober on 29th). I choose to be open about my recovery journey.... The other night during my sleepover at my friend's we were all giddy and chatting like teenagers at 3am and we wanted crisps so off I trotted to the 24 hour garage over the road. Well, it had never dawned on me that during the Wilderness Years pre 2008, these places were not open 24 hours unless they were located on a motorway. At 3am all I saw was the HUGE sign that read "off licence open 24 hours" WOW! I thought....'How fab would that have been back then?' I used to panic at 9pm as my 6 bottles of Rosé rapidly became 2... So, Just for today, as I race towards the 14th YEAR anniversary I am absolutely GRATEFUL that they weren't open 24 hours because I am under no illusion that I would not be here to write this post... To all of my comrades both in and out of the AA Rooms of Recovery I THANK YOU ALL for helping me do something that I absofreakinlutely know I could not have done alone.... And...to the Establishment...the 24 hour off licences may indeed give you vast income but they also cause much pain, damage and lifelong suffering...
