Hi! Thank you for the ask! I’m sorry I took so long to reply, I just wasn’t sure who to write about.

In the spirit of nanowrimo, that I’ve barely done, we’ll go with the light of my life, Zahara. For anyone who is new, she’s the main character of a story I’ve been writing for 5 years.

If Zahara had the choice to be immortal with one person, it would be with Andrea, her best friend.

Almost all of Zahara’s close loved ones already are immortal. Andrea is one of very few fully human, no magic wielding people in her circle. But for Zahara, Andrea does have magic in the way she loves, in how she smiles. The way this tiny human can command an entire room full of gods and heavenly beings and demand attention like no one else.

Zahara would choose immortality solely for Andrea’s benefit, so Andrea could remain with her and June, with Manny and Samson. They’d have to figure something out for her husband but, I don’t think there is nothing Zahara would not do to keep her found family together.

WIP Whenever because I am horrible

I haven’t done much for my fics beyond some sentences. So here’s a little thing from my story. I’ve been rereading it, slowly falling in love with it again. For context, Zahara doesn’t go by Zahara yet. We meet her as Rossi. In this part of the story, she is currently dating Michael, a mortal man who has the ability to see demons and angels, among other things. Her and Manny aren’t a thing yet. She hasn’t met Sam yet. Lots of unknowns and drama ;) This is a dream from Michael’s POV that I just finished reading over. Also, Lou is how we meet her father, who is actually the devil ;)))))))))))))) Michael doesn’t know that though. 

“Are you waiting for applause?” he heard Lou Hayes say. That was wrong… Someone else was supposed to be there.

“I did what was asked,” Michael said, but it wasn’t his voice that came out.

Lou Hayes came through the light, dressed in white. He wore a crown of onyx thorns with tear shaped rubies embedded between the branches. He was grinning, his eyes bright. He knelt before Michael, mockingly adjusting the golden cross that hung off his neck. It made a strange sound when it hit the breastplate of his armor.

“What are sheep to a lion, Michael?” With one hand, Lou lifted Michael off the floor, holding him by the neck.

Lou quickly pulled the sword Michael didn’t know he had and he realized that it had broken through his armor. Lou twisted the sword inside Michael’s chest, the cracking of his ribs echoing in his ears. Lou was smiling bright as Michael’s life’s blood dripped down Lou’s hand and stained the edges of his white sleeve red.

Lou brought his face close to Michael’s and he swore there was fire in his eyes.

“You don’t get to die until your job is done,” Lou whispered and pulled the sword out, throwing it aside. As Michael fell to the ground, he swore he heard Rossi laughing.

8. What are their good and bad traits?

Zahara has such a big heart. She has been through hell and has lost so much and still gives 110% of herself. She’s loyal and loves freely and unconditionally. 

On the other hand, she has zero patience, though she’s had to learn (the hard way) to be more patient. Especially if she wants things to work out in her favor. She can hold a grudge and never forgets any wrong done to her loved ones. She tends to put everyone else first and feels selfish if she does something nice for herself. 

14. What is a pet peeve of theirs?

Zahara cannot stand when people chew gum with their mouth open and make that weird noise on purpose ( we know people sometimes can’t actually breathe through their nose lmao) She hates the feel of wet plastic, like the plastic coverings of a sofa or a dining table (I kinda gave her some of my peeves when I first wrote her and it just stuck all these years) She hates when someone lowers her music or completely shuts it off- especially if she’s already in a mood.

🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?

One thing that makes her happy is hearing her loved ones laugh. She loves to see the way their dimples show or their nose scrunches up. She loves the sunrise, a reminder that she’s survived another day though eventually, she does more than just survive. She holds on to things from her “mortal life” like still going through the motions instead of using her powers to get something done. She’s obsessed with taking pictures and writing, keeping memories (and if i told you why you’d hate me lmao) Books and food (pizza and dessert specifically) are the quickest way to her heart. 

🌾 Describe your OC through the eyes of someone absolutely head-over-heels in love with them

oh hohooooooo hmmmm I’ll go with Samson this time because I never really bring him up because my friend hasn’t gotten that far in the story lmao I LOVE HIM OKAY and I love writing in his POV So for context- when Samson died, if you’ve ever read the bible you know he had his eyes removed right? so anyway, in the story, he is brought back but cursed to see only the soul, nothing more. so he has never actually seen Zahara physically (so far in the story)

Zahara is fire made flesh. I lost a wife to the flames once, but I knew the moment I saw Zahara’s soul that even if she had been the one that started that fire, I would have followed her to the very depths of hell itself. Her soul is like the brightest star in all of this endless darkness. Her soul turns pink when I make her blush, but most of the time, it’s a storm of blues and greys. Sometimes, it’s so dark it rival’s her father’s. It is then when she seeks me out, if I haven’t already gone to her, but she says she doesn’t have to pretend with me, and that is when my past doesn’t feel like something worthy of shame. Her soul is the color of sunflowers when she’s happy, and I could listen to her read those books she loves to much for hours to see the blues change into yellow. Her hands are soft and small in mine, and she is always reaching out to hold my hand. To lean into me. And I welcome it- Zahara is safe. She feels like home, as she is so keen to say about me. 

🌺 What does your OC do to calm down when they’re scared or after a nightmare? Do they have any special comfort items or need to be reassured by a specific person? How do they handle this if they’re alone?

Zahara suffers from nightmares often. She wears a ring that belonged to Samson that she tends to twist around her finger when she’s nervous. She sleeps in someone else’s shirt (Usually Samson’s or Emmanuel’s) When she’s scared, she likes to joke around but she will admit her fears to her bestfriends and her parents. She needs to talk about them to avoid staying stuck in her head. When she is alone, she tries to breathe and ground herself to avoid panicking but she will sneak into Emmanuel’s room and hop in bed with him. He hardly sleeps so half the time, he’s already waiting for her. (She meets him before Samson and they’re all bestfriends. She starts doing the same with Sam once she gets closer to him). 

🌼 Who are this characters friends and found family? How did they meet, how long have they been friends for, could they ever be something more than just friends? What do they look for in a friend or a romantic partner?

Her bestfriends are June Rosado, Andrea and Frank Morandi (they’re married). She met June and Andrea in first grade after writing her name on pennies and leaving them under her bed for the devil to find (this is a legit thing my grandma raised me on and forbade me to do ok lol) She wished to ‘never be alone’. Those three do everything together, still have sleepovers and have girls’ night when one of them needs it. 

Frank met them in middle school and June says they were all drawn to Zahara like ‘a moth to a flame’. Frank is very much like an older brother to Zahara and June, and while he can be a pain in the ass, he is such a protector and would do anything for them. 

Before Frank became Andrea’s boyfriend, the girls had their fun together (take that as you will). But June is now seeing Josiah who is part of Zahara’s ‘found family’. Josiah is the closest to a brother Zahara has (after frank), and those two are so protective of each other they’d do anything to keep each other safe. and they have- which is why we find them in the problems they are in currently >_

Emmanuel is also part of her found family. Those two have the most insane chemistry and the tension is fucking thicccccc she meets him as her father’s body guard but she notices that there’s more to his line of work than he lets on so she teased him constantly about it. They bicker constantly and make fun of each other, pull pranks. but he is so ridiculously giving and understanding of her emotions and he loves her so much there is very little he wouldn’t do for her and the same goes with Z. 

David Velez was the closest thing to a father she had before finding her family but that got taken from her too :)

Zahara and Samson become inseparable after some big life things happen and for the first time in her life, she isn’t afraid of feeling or letting herself be more than friends. she has been through some shit and Samson has faced the same traumas she has. THOSE TWO THO. the second Samson was written into the story that was it. 

Zahara values honesty over everything. Her entire life was built on a lie prior to finding her family and she forgives so easily- as long as she wasn’t lied to/as long as the person didn’t harm her loved ones. this girl can hold a grudge and I almost feel sorry for those who cross her. (but i’m really not.) She can and will (and has) shed blood to protect those she loves. She is so fiercely loyal and if she can be herself without fear of being taken advantage of, you’ve won her over. (giving her sugared donuts also helps)

WIP Thursday

This is a little bit from my main character Zahara’s father’s point of view (did that even make sense?). He goes by Lucero instead of Lucifer because that’s his name in Spanish and since I base heaven and hell off the religion I grew up in, a lot of things are in Spanish. ANYWAY. He is one of my favorite POVs ever. 

For context- they’re ‘below’, this place not entirely in the mortal realm but not entirely in the spirit realm. here is where god’s unwanted go to rest until judgement day as well as whatever prisoners Z and her parents might have. 

Oh, and he reads hearts like music. He can tell what your desires are just by listening and uses that to his advantage 99% of the time. He doesn’t use his power against his wife or daughter.

Zahara’s demeanor changed as they went further down below. The clearer Adam’s heart song became, the more Zahara exuded a darkness Lucero did not understand. But when they stood before the iron door of his cell, the darkness disappeared.

“Adam,” Zahara called out, her voice far more jovial that what her heart sang to him. “I’ve brought you a surprise.”

The iron door muffled the sounds within the cell, and as she opened it, Lucero heard Adam begging.

“Looks like my mother has come to say hello,” Zahara said as she stepped inside. “Did you enjoy it? To be alone with her after all these years?”

Lucero could see him holding his arms up, as if he could shield himself from Zahara… Adam had not noticed who else was in the room.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” Zahara’s voice was saccharine.

“Why are you here?” Adam hissed. Of course the man would still have the gall to use such a tone when speaking to his daughter. He would remember that.

“I told you. I have a surprise.”

“I want nothing you have to give… Just leave me be.”

“When Eve asked you to leave her be,” Zahara crooned, “You never listened. And my mother… Well, I’ll let daddy hash it out with you. Man to man.” Zahara actually laughed.

Lucero put his hands in his pockets and made his way towards his daughter. It was then that Adam noticed him, his eyes so wide he wondered if they would burst. He stunk of dread and blood. His heart’s song was inharmonious. Discordant.

“I’ve been looking forward to this,” Lucero said as Adam moved back against the wall. “You served your purpose and at long last, I get to repay you for the harm you caused my wife.”

Life has been... shit. I’ve been drawing some more at least but I haven’t read any books and writing fics has come to a very sad pause. 

But I FINALLY made a break through with my story. So here is the beginnings of the minor rewrite I’m doing to give Z, Manny and Sam what they deserve ;) @mythicaitt​ I spent the last few days going back to older work and seeing that I did lay down enough foundation so the OT3 can be a thing and it not be out of left field. I am soooooo excited. 

She had been falling asleep when she heard a loud bang from downstairs. Zahara rose to her feet and hurried out of her room as she heard shouting, weapons being drawn. Soldiers stepped aside as she rushed to the front doors of the castle and stopped when she found June holding her dagger to an angel’s neck.

The angel was beautiful, with porcelain skin and raven hair… black wings so unlike her brother’s pure white. Her dark eyes met Zahara’s and despite having a blade to her neck and being shorter than her, the angel seemed to be looking down at Zahara. 

“What the hell is this?” Zahara demanded and her brother answered, keeping his gaze on the angel.

“She brought Zacharia back to us… unconscious.”

“He’s unharmed-” The angel stopped when June stepped a little closer.

“She says she’s here for you.” June pressed her dagger enough to draw blood.  

“And only her,” the angel said and June huffed a laugh. But before June could say a word, Zahara felt Samson as he appeared behind her. She watched what little color the angel had fade from her face as she beheld him, as he took his place beside Zahara. 

“A half-truth,” Samson said far too calmly and the angel’s eyes widened. “This is the archangel Raphael… Emmanuel’s been taken- because of her.”

June let go of the archangel right before Zahara’s fist connected with her jaw.

“What the fuck did you do?” she growled as she took her by the hair, forcing the archangel to look up as she summoned fire with her free hand, holding the flames up to Raphael’s face.  

“I was buying him time,” Raphael stammered out. “I swear. Samson… tell her!”

“Where is he?” Samson asked instead. 

“I’ll take you to him,” Raphael replied. “But you won’t find him if I’m dead.”

“Try me, bitch,” Zahara hissed and Raphael flinched as the flames threatened to lick her too perfect skin.

“She speaks true,” Samson said at last, and Raphael sighed with relief as Zahara let her go and stepped back. She shook her hand, letting the flames die out. 

 “You’re going to take us to him.” Zahara motioned for June to follow her as she walked away. “And if there’s even one scratch on him, you and your Legion will be nothing but ash.”

Raphael is actually who Manny was in love with but Z doesn’t know that. Yet ;) 

I can’t wait to flesh this out better but it’s a start. AND WHEN Z FINDS MANNY. ugh my heart guys

5. Do they have a secret handshake with anyone?

If you consider tackling her best friends to the ground whenever she sees them, then yes. lol

15. What was the last thing they cried about?

omg what hasn’t she cried about lmao uhhh the most recent thing I wrote, she was crying because she and Emmanuel are not on good terms at the moment which is really hard for her to deal with. They were always together. like ALWAYS. So ya girl is not okay right now lol

19. What does their relationship with their family look like? Are they close? Distant?

Zahara has a very easy relationship with her father. In Lucero’s eyes, she can do no wrong but she really adores him. They constantly give her mother headaches, but she wouldn’t have them any other way tbh Z and her mom are very close. They have ‘girls’ night’ and go shopping for books. Lilith is the more reserved parent of the two. She and her brother, Josiah, are best friends. She’s also close to her aunt, Rhiannon, who spoiled her rotten. 

The rest of her father’s “family” is in heaven (god, angels, think of it as a foreign kingdom compared to earth/the mortal realm) and the only family up there that isn’t trying to kill her and her parents is her uncle Gabriel. She’s slowly getting to know him but has zero trust in the rest. 

21. Do they have a familiar?

I wouldn’t call Orzora and Sholeh familiars, but they’re fell snakes that she took a liking to. Sholeh is the one that is more attached to her, as her name means flame- which is Zahara’s most prominent power. So if Zahara is running on E when it comes to using her powers, Sholeh will essentially make up the difference.

💐 How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

Emmanuel can be stubborn af but if someone he cares for is like PLS REST BEFORE YOU DIE he’ll do it. for them. Samson considers himself the storm to Emmanuel’s calm though Emmanuel doesn’t see it that way. Sam is reckless in battle and up until he met Zahara, he was basically hoping every battle was his last. So getting him to rest/take care of himself was like pulling teeth. They both don’t mind when Lilith (Z’s mom) heals them nor when Zahara does either. They’re complete mush in her hands tbh 

Emmanuel can be a bit of a mother hen. Samson hides it better. But they both are so affectionate and nurturing, like their physical appearance is contradictory to how soft these two are. and when it’s Zahara whose sick or needing them? lord have mercy 

🌿 What way does your OC show that they care without using words? What way do others show your OC that they’re cared about without using speech?

Manny (emmanuel’s nickname btw) in one scene wrapped Z in a blanket and carried her to her favorite outside seat and just read a book next to her while she looked on. Since Sam sees the soul, he feels everyone’s emotions around him as though they were his own so he knows when someone needs a hug or to be left alone. when to sneak into the kitchen and carry chocolate to Z’s room before she even asks for it. 

Their best friend is Zahara though her parents adore them too. Emmanuel and Zahara have a tendency of using sex and physical intimacy as a means to cope/distract. Do with that info as you will. Touch and physical intimacy is something Samson is still getting accustomed to but he feels safe with Z and Emmanuel. They like to bring him sweets because he’s got a mean sweet tooth and Z likes to show him the music she likes as he missed out on the last 200odd years so she’s taken it upon herself to get him to try everything at least once. they will also pile up on her bed and watch horror movies and crime documentaries. 

🌳 What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

Manny and Samson both like to work out and train to deal with stress. They both play piano thanks to Z’s dad teaching them and Sam can play the guitar, too. They both are the worst when it comes to going to bed early and it takes them a lot to be completely burned out to warrant it. But their favorite way to relax is lounging somewhere (*cough*Z’s room*cough*) with a good book where Z and Emmanuel take turns reading to Samson. 

🌲 How deeply does your OC feel? Are they typically empathetic or do they have a hard time connecting with others in this way? What are they like when offering support and comfort to someone they care for?

Since Emmanuel was an angel first, feelings were like a major NOPE. He still had them, still made connections with those in his former Legion and he did fall in love (which led to his inevitable banishment but that’s the easy way to explain it) but it wasn’t until he became a demon and swore himself into Lucifer’s service that he learned to truly allow himself to feel and to show any kind of love/care he felt for someone. Zahara’s best friends (andrea and June) both get really close to him, too, and rely on him as well. 

Samson’s feelings are pretty much what was manipulated to lead him to his eventual demise. but then he died and came back hellbent on making the god he once served pay for all that was done to him in god’s name so feelings were pointless. he ran on nothing but rage and bloodlust until he started to see himself as a monster and was haunted by all he did. Now that he’s back and Z is in the picture, he finally feels like he has a reason to stay, to live and be more than what he was. he’s the one literally everyone trusts, who everyone runs to for advice. He’s quick to stand up for someone and put himself between them and whatever they’re facing, literally and figuratively.

OMFG lol 

despite the fact that these two can level cities, and have destroyed armies together like it’s a casual stroll in the park, they are both 10/10 Baby. No one would dispute that within their circle of friends and family. they couldn’t deny it either, especially if it’s Zahara who says so.
