Okay let me tell you an idea that popped in my head wile reading your twst x Pokémon stuff.

What if trainer Yuu had a pidove that is just the sweetest little baby, but the only thing is, it’s not the brightest. (Heart is full, but head so empty)

When it first sees Vil or even Malleus, it’s first thought “oh! Maybe friend? I give gift to friend!” And carefully picks a pretty flower to gift them. The pattern repeats more frequently after trainer Yuu befriended them.

But now the pidove visits them in there room sees the flowers from before in a vase and thinks “oh! Perfect gift for friend!” And would then would pick the best flower in there to give to them when they wake up! They would end up waking up to see the sweetheart puffed up happily with the flower in its beak waiting for them.

(Pidove needs more love, sweet baby may be plain but it’s a loving Pokémon!)

I imagined the cuttle little bird pkmn cooing, all puffy as the boy wakes up to see the flower gift in its beak 🥺🩷

Cue Vil/Malleus sitting up slowly, rubbing the sleep out of their eyes with one hand as the other goes to gently pet/scratch pidove. "Well, pleasant morning to you, as well," They say in their morning voice, "That for me? 'S pretty."

Imagine if Vil gives pidove a cute ribbon as a sign of friendship!

And Malleus definitely puts a preservation spell on the flowers so they never wilt

(also, as soon as Yuu befriends Malleus or starts referring to him as such, I imagine pidove immediygoing "my frien too!!" Heart full of love, that little bird 💕)

(EDIT: OKAY BUT WHAT IF PIDOVE STICKS THE FLOWER INTO THEIR BED HEAD HAIR AS THEY STILL SLEEP SO WHEN THEY WAKE UP AND SEE THEMSELVES IN THE MIRROR, THEY SMILE/LAUGH A LITTLE AT THE PRETTY FLOWER AGAINST THEIR MESSY HAIR?!?!?!?! 😭🩷🩷🩷)

So, I’m building a Zask, Skittering Swarmlord deck

and I came across this card that I’d consider a hidden gem in the deck:

Hiya! I have a question regarding the interaction between Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and Ashes of the Fallen. Assuming Ashes names Insect does this actually let you cast any creature from your graveyard?

I think the answer is no because of ashes not affecting spells on the stack but its a high include in Zask decks on edhrec so I'm beginning to doubt my judgement 🥲

No, this doesn't work for exactly the reason you stated.

While all the creature cards in your graveyard will be insects, you won't be able to legal cast any of them because they won't be insect spells once you put them on the stack. Zask cares about what a card you're casting from your graveyard looks like on the stack, not what it looks like in the graveyard, and so this is an unfortunately popular nonbo.

Also, Ashes won't even help with Zask's second ability since death triggers look at the creature as it last existed on the battlefield, not as it exists in the graveyard.
