Woah mama! I appreciate the traction of the first shark poll, so here is another for so many beloved friends who did not fit the first one! Shark fans,
I truly did have many of the species listed here in mind with the previous poll, I just did not have the space and had to prioritise some sharks I knew were longtime favourites! But worry not… no more! SHARK FANS COME GET YOUR JUICE!!!!
What shall I do with the info in the two polls? I dunno. Maybe make another poll with even more sharks? Maybe combine the winners and make them fight to the death? Who knows! Let’s see.

💕Happy late valentines/ace week!!! 💕
This piece is a celebration of animals that can reproduce asexually in various ways. Under the readmore you can find a key to the species included and some information about how they reproduce.
Tumblr media
These are very simplified definitions, if you're interested in this stuff definitely do more research and reading! The intricate details are really fascinating and specific to each animal- plants are even crazier!
Budding: a new individual develops then detaches from the parent when mature
Fragmentation: a new individual grows from a detached piece of the parent organism
Parthenogenesis: a new individual forms from an unfertilized egg
Facultative Parthenogenesis: the organism can reproduce sexually and/or asexually
Obligate Parthenogenesis: the organism can only reproduce through parthenogenesis
Gynogenesis: a form of obligate parthenogenesis that requires the presence of sperm without any actual genetic contribution

Please, wise sharxpert (shark expert), what is the most glamorous shork?
Thank you!
CHAHAINS CAT SHALRK
*takes a breath* chain. cat sharks. Like okay hear me out. Zebra sharks are amazingly beautiful, threshers feel so elegant with their long tails, epaulettes are almost dainty

BUT. Chain catsharks have incredibly beautiful patterns, and add on to that, BIOLUMINESCENCE. They look ETHEREAL

🐟Fishuary 2024 Day One: Shark🐟
Tumblr media
Kicking off Fishuary with a shark that is slowly becoming my very favourite: the zebra shark, Stegostoma tigrinum! Such wonderful patterns, such sweetiepies! I don't blame folks for being head over heels in love with sharks, given how they get so many cool paintjobs!??
I usually stick to species accurate colours but I wanted to do a little experimenting with this one — also, thick outline! My other Fishuary entries most likely won't be so glamorous, now I just had time to kill ^^'

Zebra sharks got their name from the stripes they have as pups which become spots when they become adults.
