Gambit is brought over to the Candra the External in the Thieves Guild Sanctum for the so-called crime. However, Candra is not fooled by the "assassin" as she suspects that something is not right with the accent. It turns out that this "assassin" is actually Carmen Cruz, a.k.a Feint or Gimmick, the young shapeshifting mutant who disguised herself as a assassin to do the Trojan Prisoner ploy in order to get some answers from Candra. As she turns back to her true form, Feint apologizes to Gambit but he says she doesn't have to apologize because she did great. Candra agrees while lifting Feint in the air with her telekinesis, saying the metamorph is impressive but that no assassin of hers would be suicidal enough to show their face after a botched contract. Candra asks Gambit where he found his protege and we get a quick flashback/reference to Dark X-Men. Then, Gambit fights in a duel with Candra while asking about what the Selene and the Externals are planning.

E136 Trivia: Beyond the JSA
Just unloading a lot of stuff about the E136 Timeline regarding the latter half of the 20th century.
The Justice Society survived the 50's into the 60's, but was disbanded in anticipation of the Vietnam War.
The latter half of the twentieth century was dominated by the Charlton Comics characters in the late 60's-70's, Infinity Inc and the first Birds of Prey in the 70's-80s, the BRPD, the Soviet Firestorm and the four elemental robots known as the Soviet Metal Men, and a lot of non-superhero teams we see in DC and Wildstorm Comics (Challengers of the Unknown, Sea Devils, etc.)
One of these teams was a take on the "Super Friends" who never took an official name. Considered a precursor to later Multi-national teams such as the JLI, the first ““Stormwatch” as they were called, was comprised of the American Thunderer (Black Vulcan), the Mescalero Longshadow (Apache Chief), the Mexicans Sol Excepcional (El Dorado) and Extrano, the Japanese Wind Dragon (Samurai), and twin aliens known as the Wonder Twins.
J'onn J'onzz was active in this time period as the Bronze Wraith, as was Hal Jordan (The second Green Lantern), and Robert Queen (Codename: Red Hood) in his role as a contractor to the predecessors of Team 7.
Diana spent much of this time period as an inter dimensional swashbuckler, along with Ferdinand, Siegfried, and her "brother" Jason, the last son of Zeus.
This Era came to an end with the arrival of Monarch, a self proclaimed warlord from the year 2001, who killed many of the above heroes and their respective villains, caused the disappearance of many others, and destroyed Coast City, sending Hal Jordan down the dark path to Parallax...
The 90's would see Team 7 rise to "prominence", part of a boom of cloak and dagger organizations such as Checkmate, Argus, Spyral, & IO, all preparing for the threats Monarch predicted...and getting in each other's ways.
The pre-eminent superheroes of this generation, immediately preceding the Trinity's, were the Doom Patrol, a public facing BRPD team, the beginnings of a new Metal Men team, and a local Metropolis Vigilante known as Black Lightning, the son of the fallen Thunderer.

SONIC FORCES: INFINITY - FALL OF ZERO
A little comic (that took a whole month AAGHHH) I made for a Forces rewrite concept I’ve been playing around with! TLDR Zero, the runt of his squad, left his group of jackals and met a young Gadget, and they formed a kind of Sonic and Tails relationship. Until Zero’s insecurities of desire to be seen as stronger than he is got the better of him, and he went snooping in one of Eggman’s bases. Things go poorly.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
So, here we are. It's been over three years since the last PMD game, and almost 8 since the last one that wasn't a remake. Where does this leave us? Will we ever get another new PMD game? I don't know. Personally? I have hope that the series isn't dead. That one day, we will get another. But I can't say for certain. But even if this is the end…what a legacy PMD has left us with. Five lovely games, each with their own story to tell, their own joys to be had. Sure, some may be better than others, but they all carry the spirit of PMD within them. Rescue Team is a story about finding yourself in a foreign world, of finding home in the unlikeliest of places, of how even when the rest of the world is against you, you'll always have some people who believe in you. Explorers is a story about overcoming impossible odds, of staying true to oneself, of shining bright at world's end, of how if your legacy is still remembered, in a way, you'll still be alive. Adventure Squad is a story of finding joy in the little things, of how even simple acts of kindness can turn around the hearts of a whole village. Gates to Infinity is a story about holding onto hope even in the most desperate circumstances, of friendships that never truly die, of kindness begetting more kindness, of changing the world for the better, one step at a time. Super is a story of learning who you truly are, what makes you yourself, of how negativity is a necessary part of life, of globe-spanning friendships, of entrusted hope, of how you can do amazing things, of how it's ok to need help. Each one has its own, unique take on PMD. Each one has its own themes, its own joys it wants to share. Each one complements the rest, and all together? They make something truly wonderful. While it's possible that PMD might never return, that attatchement we have to it? That love we have for our partners? That joy we have when we remember our favorite moments from it? That will never truly fade. It might be buried, might be forgotten, but it will never truly die. It will always be there, waiting to return. In a way, PMD will never end. Like Special Episode 5 of Explorers teaches us, if our legacy is remembered, then we're still alive, in a way. Our spirit still shines bright, still affecting others. As long as we continue to cherish PMD, it will never die. I'm crying so hard as I type this all. I love PMD. I love it with all my heart. I think a good way to show why PMD will never truly die is to take a look at the fanworks made for it. There are hundreds, if not thousands of fanworks created about PMD. Comics, fanfics, askblogs, and more, all telling their own stories about PMD. All created because of love for PMD. Silver Resistance. Victory Fire. Hands of Creation. Warped Skies. Quenched Torch. Legends Legacy. Shatter. Daily Life in Pokemon Paradise. Flake-N-Rudy. Askanotslownotking. Free Fiction. The Dreamstone. Places We Call Home. Galaxies Above. On Borrowed Time. Fledglings. Liberators of Fate. Sierra 10. Flowerbeds. Irau's Journal. Psychic Sheep. Zero the Hero. Path of Valor. Even those of us who aren't telling full stories, those of us who make fanart, those of us who make fanmusic and remixes, those of us who just gush about PMD. We're all keeping PMD alive. To everyone who has ever made any sort of PMD fanwork, discussed their love for the series, or even just recommended it to a friend. To anyone who has ever helped keep PMD alive. Thank you. Even if we never get a new PMD game, it will never truly die, as long as we continue to cherish it. Thank you all so much.
I have my own PMD fanworks, if anyone wishes to check them out.
Eternal Shadows, a PMD story taking place post-Super, about a human-turned-Oshawott who wishes to return home.
In Tandem, a hybrid PMD and trainerfic, about a PMD Tropius who wishes to become a trainer in the human world.
Then, Then, and Now, a hybrid Rescue Team and Legends Arceus story, of a protagonist who goes through both.
A Comprehensive Guide to Items, a guide to items in the PMD world, and how they work, written in-universe by the Rescue Team partner.
A Way to Reunite, a Gates to Infinity oneshot, about an alternate epilogue if the Worldcore didn't exist.
Day of Heroes, a oneshot celebrating the four main PMD games. The protagonists and partners of each game celebrate a holiday dedicated to them, together.
I also have a variety of PMD askblogs.
@ask-team-searchlights is an askblog for the cast of Eternal Shadows, and @ask-world-savers-council is an askblog for the cast of Day of Heroes. And @adventuresquadharvest is a new askblog I started today, for giving love for Adventure Squad.
If you decide to check out any of these, I hope you enjoy.
I'm also always available to chat about PMD! I have a bunch of headcanons and worldbuilding about the series that I'd love to talk about more! Feel free to either approach me in DMs, ask me on this blog, or contact me on Discord! My username there is ifbench, same as here.
I hope you've all enjoyed my PMD rambles. Thank you for listening.

I've never heard of Todd Rice but he seems so interesting. Who is he and do you have a reading list for him also?
oh man you have no idea how long i’ve been waiting for this question
todd rice aka ‘obsidian’ is the son of the original green lantern, alan scott, and the twin of jennifer-lynn hayden aka ‘jade’. their mother was one of green lantern’s former villains named rose canton aka ‘thorn’ who had schizophrenia (the most ableist and inaccurate possible version lol) and had an evil alter-ego that she was unaware of. she was supposedly “cured” before she and alan got married. however, that magic cure quickly got reversed and she ran away during their honeymoon, not knowing she was pregnant. eventually she gave birth to the twins and put them up for adoption. jennie-lynn went to a good home. todd did not.
todd’s adoptive father was an abusive alcoholic, and his adoptive mother eventually got tired of it and left, taking her younger child but leaving todd there. he also grew up extremely poor bc his father didn’t have a job and presumably spent all their money on alcohol, so todd has had to work since he was 15 to support himself. he also had to turn down a college acceptance bc he couldn’t afford to go.
when he was 18 his adoptive father tried to put his head through a wall and todd turned into a shadow to phase right through it. that’s when he discovered his powers. he can turn into a 3-dimensional shadow which gives him intangibility, strength, flight, the ability to possess someone’s body, and the ability to make people see their worst fears (which is the power of his that disturbs him the most).
what he didn’t know yet is he had a long lost twin sister who was also discovering her powers, and who learned from her adoptive parents that she had a twin brother. so she went out searching for him and eventually got a weird twin telepathy type message that led her to todd. when they met they started speculating on who their parents could be and jennie-lynn suggested green lantern could be their father bc her powers were similar to his own. so she and todd trained, made their own suits, then stormed into the jsa headquarters declaring green lantern was their father (with zero actual proof lol). alan was… less than receptive at first but it was eventually proved he really was their father.
it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine after that tho bc another one of todd’s powers was being able to see the darkness within other ppl’s souls. he also inherited schizophrenia from his mother, which as you can probably imagine made that power 1000x worse. his mental state deteriorated and eventually he had a really ableist plotline where he became a villain who tried to cover the world in shadows bc he wanted everyone (especially alan) to suffer the way he was always suffering. but alan and jennie-lynn brought him back with the power of love and all that stuff.
after all that mess todd lost his powers for a bit and became a social worker. he also came out as gay (which has been obvious since the 80s lmao) and started dating a man named damon matthews. and he’s finally happy now. <3
the first thing you have to read is infinity inc vol 1. it’s todd’s introduction comic and he’s a central character, so you really get a feel for who he is. next i’d read justice league america vol 1 #93-113. by this point his life is starting to go downhill and you can really see how the combination of his powers and his mental illness is contributing to that. next big comic he’s in is jsa vol 1. this is where the ableist plotline comes in so beware. he’s in a significant amount of issues and has a really big part but his appearances are kinda sporadic. he’s in issues #1, #4-5, #7-9, #46-50, #52, and #54.
todd has less than 300 new earth appearances so the rest of the comics he’s in are kinda scattered. some of them include:
- justice league of america vol 2 #43-48 and #56-59
- new teen titans vol 2 #38 (crossover with infinity inc and concludes in infinity inc vol 1 #45)
- manhunter vol 3 #18-20, #23, #25, #30-31, and #34 (this is the comic where he’s confirmed to be gay and dating damon!!)
- crisis on infinite earths
- the flash vol 2 annual #3
- green lantern vol 3 #19, #86, and #109
todd has literally 31 appearances in prime earth canon bc he and his sister were erased in the new 52 lmao but they’re back now so it’s ok. the only recommendation i have for him in recent comics is a story he was in for dc pride 2021. the story isn’t technically about him, it’s about alan, but it heavily features him. also alan said the reason he came out is bc todd’s bravery inspired him so that’s 😭😭.
i’m so sorry i made this so long i could talk about this man for hours. but i hope that answered your question.

Wakanda Forever is committee-designed fanfiction bait. I'm so honored to be seen.
You could write a Namor (x Shuri) fanfic starting at WW2, the Battle for Manhattan, Infinity War, or two months after T'Challa died and it would all work.
The easy comradery. The political tension. The discussions at twilight. The betrayal. The misunderstandings. The escalations they wish to take back. The drama. The trauma. The mutual pining.
Take your pick.
Countless fanfics start their romances a few months or years before the start of the story proper, changing the context of the original content into a conflict between old lovers. Shuri has a 1-year time skip at the start of this movie. That's 12 months of open sandbox.
Shuri bioengineered a hybrid heart-shaped herb with the Mayan / Talokan equivalent, which can easily be interpreted as giving her some of their affinities; she could visit in the future without a suit.
She was able to do this because he gave her his mother's pearl bracelet when he proposed... a strategic military alliance ... and politely asked told her to stay with him. Are you kidding me?!
Between all of the worldbuilding from the Captain America trilogy, Agent Carter and AoS, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the Black Panther movies, there's a pretty fleshed out world for Namor to be righteously furious about. Comics!Namor disguised himself as a human to fight in World War II. Think of ANY MCU storyline about the 1940s-60s and Namor could have been an eyewitness. Yeah. You see why he's been planning a war against the surface since then.
The easy comradery. The political tension. The discussions at twilight. The betrayal. The misunderstandings. The escalations they wish to take back. The drama. The trauma. The mutual pining.
Take your pick. Continue with the story as it is and have a heartbreaking redemption arc? Fix it and have a happier ending? Recontextualize Namor coming ashore at the river as a Meet the Parents between already established lovers? Namor is over 450-years-old and this world has high tech and magic; who doesn't love a time travel fic? Namor and Shuri conquer the world? Save the world against a different villain? Namor and Shuri time travel to save the world from the rise of HYDRA, Killmonger's revenge, and Thanos with zero casualties and one less baby Celestial with its torso sticking out of the ocean?
Or just date nights exploring each other's kingdoms?

August 1992. Six years after DC forced Roy Thomas to send his childhood favorite characters to Valhalla, the JSA returned in this delightful series by Len Strazewski and Mike Parobeck. Far less fussy and continuity-obsessed than Thomas's earlier ALL-STAR SQUADRON, INFINITY INC., and YOUNG ALL-STARS, this book nonetheless provided some amusing twists for those familiar with the characters' long history, like the revelation that Johnny Thunder's foster daughter Peachy Pet had made a mint in frozen yogurt. The series is probably most notable for the debut of Jesse Quick, the daughter of Golden Age heroes (and All-Star Squadron headliners) Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, but Strazewski also introduces a presumptive successor to Johnny Thunder in the form of Kiku, a plucky Bahdnesian girl who can also control the Thunderbolt. She's a fun character, but her depiction is marred by an extremely ill-advised coloring choice that makes the people of Bahdnesia look like literal redskins. (Recent digital editions dial this back a little, but not enough — the Bahdnesians look like cousins of Sinestro!)
This book sadly produced an internal editorial backlash to the effect that publishing a comic about septuagenarian superheroes was making DC look bad, so the series was cancelled after 10 issues, and the order came down to kill most of the JSA in ZERO HOUR. (Most of them survived anyway, but that's another story.) Kiku, meanwhile, has been completely ignored by subsequent writers, outside of a brief and confusing cameo in the obscure and terrible PRIMAL FORCE series in 1995.

Sorry, what issue is that comic book Miles & Peni scene from?
That was from "Spider-Verse Vol 3 #3" compiled in the "Spider-Verse: Spider-Zero" Trade Paperback, where Miles is getting shot through different worlds to help out random Spiders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Making this post a twofer: finally decided to just sit down and read the spider-verse marvel infinity comics and yeah
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
despite the change in style/tone, whether Peni actually has a plug suit or just wears her school uniform while in SP//dr, and whether her classmates talk about knowing her "secret identity" or not: looking at it that way, I guess that makes sense?
I mean, I didn't notice till it got to it, but she noticeably didn't have a red hair-clip until towards the end, which she does have in ATSV but not in ITSV, while comics Peni always had a hairclip of some kind, so having this sort of wrap most of her canon events (hah) together to make it easy to jump into for movie goers makes sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The comic mentions taking place after the death of her Aunt, and it continues off of Uncle Ben having doubts about it being good for her to be SP//dr from her last spider-verse appearance (mentioned above): yet it still doesn't mention any specifics or any of the Spider-verse events at all, so I don't know what the idea was here.
To be honest, I think it's as simple as "didn't really think too hard about it" due to either being a small webcomic with not much room to go deeper or just the consequence of being a side character split between polarizing yet popular in their own right appearances and overall inconsistency among them.

A big reason why I like the Black Panther films is that you can totally ignore everything else and the story works fine. You can forget Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, just watch the first film and then its sequel. I didn’t like Captain America having his third film be changed to Avengers 2.5 just because marvel wanted to compete with Batman V Superman that same year, or Planet Hulk getting a half-assed adaptation in Thor 3, or Wanda stealing the show from Doctor Strange in his own sequel. Cameos can be fun but those were a bit much. The worst offenders are the mcu Spider-Man movies because Peter is shown being pretty dependent on characters like Iron Man, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, and even versions of himself from older movies. And both Iron Man and Doctor Strange were responsible for the villains showing up in those films.
I will say due to the...really badly handled introduction of Skaar in She Hulk, its likely we could potentially get a Planet Hulk adaption down the line hopefully, but at the same time, as you pointed out, they already took half of that adaption in Ragnarok with Hulk landing on another planet due to leaving for space at the end of Age Of Ultron (another set up that went in weird places...at least it didn't go nowhere I guess like most MCU set ups lately). And your not wrong on the others: Civil War was basically MCU trying to compete with Batman Vs Superman (and yet somehow, Batman Vs Superman is the one getting dragged still when I'd happily rewatch it over Civil War) while also giving Captain America's film to Iron Man basically, and Wanda basically took over a film that wasn't hers to the point every character is depowered just to make her look better as remember: Doctor Strange is meant to be a powerful sorcerer as is Wong and the other sorcerers and even Miss America in the comics is pretty powerful, but they all depowered just to make Wanda this powerful villain that takes over his film that should have been him facing Mordo with the set up first Doctor Strange did, but nope I guess (and given how they planned to have Wanda kill Mordo before it was cut from film...maybe Mordo escaped being in this film...at least main universe him, anyway...).
And oh god, don't get me started on the MCU treatment of Spiderman. At least when you watch the OG trilogy and Amazing Spiderman films, you know they spidey films and you see Peter doing everything on his own with his villains having some form of connection to him. MCU???? Tony Stark caused the first two villains and Peter just happens to get caught in the messes each time and No Way Home can try all it wants: Strange should have told Peter about the spell PRIOR to doing it and therefore, if Peter did still do his stupid mistake, it would be his fault, but no, Strange doesn't, and therefore Strange's fault too. Plus its funny as hell they clearly wish they got to do Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus and Electro and Sandman, but they didn't, so they drag the prior Spiderman films versions of them into this Spiderverse rip off and force a connection between MCU peter and Spiderman films Green Goblin via fridging Aunt May, because beyond that, MCU Peter has zero connection to these villains and the other two Spidey's have more development with the villains then he does.
Like, there's fun little cameos everyone whose seen prior stuff can enjoy (Doctor Who coming to mind here along with DC's Shazam! and Black Adam), and then there's the MCU having the cameos take over the whole film somehow, meaning your forced to watch prior stuff to understand. And as much as I can agree Black Panther is easy to watch because it doesn't rely on prior stuff (with the only set up being in the end credits where we see Bucky), gonna have to sadly point out Wakanda Forever does have that stupid Valentina stuff shoved in to set up Thunderbolts, though gonna assume that was on higher up's end and not Ryan Coogler's end, since its basically apart of their pattern in the MCU at this rate.
