Cruise Ship AU plus Dinosaurs AU

Okay sorry on the delay, been dealing with family holiday stuff! But ooooooo, interestinggg!!! So for whatever reason, my first thought was basically a cruise ship Jurassic Park type setup. Dinos as an attraction on a cruise ship.

Dinosaurs have been recreated using *Science*, and while they're mostly in zoos and labs these days, they're not the most uncommon thing anymore. They have to be kept contained though cause they can absolutely destroy an ecosystem either from eating a ton of plants or just being a predator that the biome doesn't know how to control.

But at least the smaller ones are understood well enough to be attractions. Not on a full scale dino island kind of thing, but a few here and there are totally cool! (or considered to be so by everyone other than the employees who are NOT getting paid enough for this...)

Enter Phantasmic Cruises, a cruise company that brings the past to you, aboard one of the half dozen state of the art cruise ships. Why wonder about the ghosts of the past when you can experience them for yourself? Run of course by the one and only Caleb Covington, each ship features a unique time period experience. (With all the modern amenities of course). So one is all Victorian era, attire included, another is themed around the middle ages, though very glorified and much cleaner, and that kind of thing.

Caleb's newest insane brain child is a ship centered around the Jurassic period. With actual dinosaurs included, of course. And, insane or not, what Caleb says goes. So Julie, the head interior designer of the ship, Alex, the main engineer, Reggie, the future captain, and Luke, the entertainment coordinator, have to figure out how to somehow make this thing come to life.

The four of them haven't worked together directly prior to the project, though Alex and Julie have seen each other's work in passing, Luke has done some work on the ship Reggie was first mate on before this, and Luke is well aware of Julie's style when it comes to creating great entertainment spaces. So they know of each other, but they aren't friends.

Julie and Alex meet first in a meeting about the overall design of the ship. Caleb introduces them himself, and then springs it on them that they're basically the heads of their respective teams on the project. Cue joint freaking out and potentially hiding in a closet together while working through their matching panic attacks. And then they're just bonded for life after that. They butt heads a fair amount, as what is best engineering wise isn't always the best interior design wise and vice versa. But they figure it out.

Then Reggie and Alex meet in a crew meeting about what the basic idea for the ship will be and what kinds of training and safety stuff will have to be done moving forward. Reggie makes Alex laugh a bit more than he probably should have, but they grab coffee after, just to get to know each other as human beings, and they're well on their way to becoming besties.

Luke and Julie, meanwhile, have already gotten into an argument about the design of the stage in the main event space. Luke wants the lighting to be a certain way, Julie insists it's not practical to set it up that way. They end up compromising, but not before exchanging a few heated insults.

The gang finally all meets up, along with the financial manager for the project, Flynn, the PR specialist, Carrie, and the... dinosaur handler, Willie. Flynn and Julie already know each other well from previous projects, and Carrie did a whole publicity tour thing at one of Reggie's old ship jobs so they're pals. Willie doesn't know any of them, but a few side comments indicate some kind of connection to Caleb...

Needless to say, the project is an absolute mess from start to finish. I mean, who builds a cruise ship with dinosaurs? But somehow, they pull it off. And they all get to know each other REALLY well.

Alex and Carrie find a shared love of bubblegum pop and take to working together in an office with the music on blast. They're good body doubles for each other.

Flynn, Luke, and Reggie end up in a rather dramatic argument about which brand of energy drink is the best (while they are all highly sleep deprived due to a deadline and on at least their third of their respective beverages), which turns into lighthearted teasing once the crisis is solved.

Julie and Luke keep butting heads, but somehow it always seems to work out. And the results are pretty dang cool. Though no one mentions the random, poetic sounding lines that are sometimes seen scribbled on the corners of the memos the two pass around. Or that the line on Julie's latest one seems to match up with the one on Luke's from the other day.

Alex and Willie kinda skirt around each other for a bit, not really wanting to admit that they think their coworker is really cute and sweet. But eventually they give up and actually go out for dinner. And it goes really well! It takes them a while, and they have to learn some pretty tricky stuff about work-life balance and leaving the ship at the door when they're going out and stuff. But they make it work!

In the end, the ship does work out, though maybe not exactly how Caleb originally planned. Oh well, it's booked out for the first year and a half within a few weeks of opening, and no one gets hurt. So... win for team JATP!

I have four rescued cats. They're all so unique with distinct personalities that everyday is different (and also a zoo haha). They bring me so much joy and the reason I get out of bed in the morning. That and I get face stomped by Nina for breakfast every morning so I have no choice 😄

Woke up really tired and not in a great mood with a headache and just kinda yucky. Had my therapist this morning and talked about everything. Came downstairs after I got a shower and my mom's all chipper and sometimes that just ticks me off bc even when nothing's wrong she asks me what's wrong. And today she asks me what's wrong. Like idk want a list of everything that's going wrong in my life right now? I'm allowed to feel okay one day and then not the next day. Just bc I was happy about the fucking zoo pals plates I found at the store the other day doesn't mean I'm all cured about everything else in my life. She was like it's nice to have you back when I came home super happy about the zoo pals. They just made it a little bit easier. I still feel shitty. And now she's like did talking to your therapist even help or did it hurt you seem worse today? And that ticked me off. Like I wasn't better! I'm not all cured bc of zoo pals!

assignment understood let me dial it back and try again. once upon a time there was a magic jungle full of pink sparkly rainbow versions of your classic zoo animals, lions tigers zebras giraffes etc. theres a clan of evil gray apes who want to rule the jungle but they are fought off with the power of friendship. also one of the youngest members of the apes clan joined the side of good and the magic of friendship turned them colorful so they'd match the rest of the good guy cast. also to keep the unicorns theres sky islands where they live and theyre kind of treated like the gods/angels of this world think skywishes the pegasus from g3 mlp

I had a thought about a half hour ago like, "What if fairies? What if flowers is the thing of this show? What if like Fern Gully but reimagined with the tone and aesthetic of Care Bears—" and forest fairies with colorful animal pals would work pretty damn well. (If it wasn't fairies it'd have to be Token Human Sidekicks, if you don't have a human cast there's always gotta be a Token Human somewhere in these shows.) Get five fairies, five EXTREMELY lovable animals to be their buddies/teammates, and the Main Character Team Leader's teammate is a unicorn. Or maybe the unicorn is the main character and there are just like two helper fairies running around the animals.

Not sure about gorillas specifically BUT it could be other Spooky Animals—like, make an Evil Spider, Evil Snake, and Evil Bee (some producer somewhere thought this was a Good Message to send children because it teaches kids not to play with venomous animals), but the Evil Bee becomes a good guy because he loves flowers so much (and maybe some environmentalist with a very narrow focus wrote in scolding the production company for vilifying the hardworking bee and they were scared of controversy). The bee has rainbow stripes. There's some kind of "being kind makes you beautiful!" dialogue that nobody questioned at the time but in retrospect sends a pretty messed up message.

The boss of the spider and snake is literally just Hexxus with the serial numbers filed off and made 80% less threatening. It's just, an evil purple cloud that hates friendship, flowers, and colors.

There might be one middle-aged balding guy who gets roped into the villains' schemes because he's too dumb to realize they're evil.

It's called something like "Flower Painters" (we'll workshop that) and their stated mission is, specifically, bringing colors to plants, which by extension gives color to the rest of the world, and somehow this causes love and friendship maybe? Or maybe NOT being friendly drains the colors from flowers? Something about colors is going on here. The colors are mandatory. There's some sort of goofy abstract morals. Also don't litter.

If this show actually existed in real life and I was an 8-year-old girl, the evil snake would be my favorite character. Not because the snake is more interesting than the hero animals, I'm just very bad at being representative of my target audience demographic.

Chapter 21 It Runs Deep: Two days have passed since the disaster of an experiment in the Long Island woods. And some people are coping better than others. However Mikey seems to be one of the people having the worst time. So Michelangelo suggests that they go skateboarding, to clear his head. Simple enough right? Well the Sando brothers show up so clearly that wasnt gonna happen. However as the duo and a surprise ally battle the crabs at the Bronx Zoo, they come to a horrifying revelation. They hadnt gotten rid of all of the oozequitos.

Chapter 22 The Deadly Croaking: The Mikeys and friend come face to face with brand new mutants in the Bronx Zoo. Mutant poison dart frogs. The fight was going ok until Mikey froze. Then the trio were poisoned and captured. And even worse the Oozequitos escape into the city. While the rest of the group is hunting the dangerous insects, its up to Leo and Leonardo to rescue their younger brothers. However the effects of the disastrous experiment will make this borderline impossible.

Chapter 23 Super Dorky Pals For Life: Donnie and Donatello get to work on repairing the portal generator. However there was an extensive amount of damage and with no Kraang tech finding the needed supplies would be very difficult. Donatello offers that they search Repo's junkyard. A decent place to start, might find a useable car battery or some scrap metal. The duo meet up with April and go searching. However the junkyard had been reclaimed by none other than Big Mama. After a battle with Repo its revealed that she took his cat as leverage. If Repo complies his cat will remained unharmed. So the trio head to the New Nexus Hotel on a rescue mission. However Big Mama's assistant wont let take the mantis cat so easily...

Also a bonus so me and Sunset Linings can tie in round 2...Chapter 24 From Bad To Worse: Leo, Mikey, Michelangelo and Raph are racing across the city, trying to catch the Oozequitos before they have even more dangerous mutants on their hands. Things especially get bad when ten Oozequitos end up inside the Stock n Shop. Now they have to protect the people while also avoiding Stockboy's attempts to expose them to the entire world. Meanwhile Leonardo and Raphael slip out of the lair to have a much needed discussion about the incident, Splinter's death, what they're going to do once they return to their dimension, and if "plan b" is still on the table at all. However Rise Splinter, worried about the two, follows them.
