Millennium Line, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada vs MARTA, Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Millennium Line:

- It's a very frequent (currently up to every 3 minutes) GoA 4 automated light metro. 

- It uses cute 2-car Bombardier ART Mark II trains, which run using linear induction motors (in a way, it's closer to a launch rollercoaster than to your average electric train). 

- It has a great potential to expand in range, both eastwards to Port Coquitlam and westwards to UBC, as well as in capacity, as it can accommodate 4-car trains as frequently as every 2 minutes.

- An expansion is in the works to extend the line past its current western terminus and will provide a connection between the two other SkyTrain lines outside of Downtown Vancouver. 

- The entire system is step-free accessible, and it also accommodates bicycles outside of peak hours. 

- High-density transit-oriented development is being built around certain stations, such as Brentwood, Lougheed and Coquitlam Central. 

- Because it's automated, you get a great view out the front and back of the trains as there's no driver cab! (It's all you'd want from a medium-capacity metro system really (hyperbole))

MARTA: Idk I’ve never been on it but it looks cool when I drive past the stations (also, it lives on monorails like in superhero stuff (*see that scene in Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Zootipia I think) and it doesn’t really ride on the ground (it’s either above or below, but never on) idk it’s just cool)

Just gonna say that I love how #3731 is calling the cheetah in Madagascar 3 a bad example of character design when you have Gloria the voluptuous hippo RIGHT THERE. Even that never screamed sexist or sexual to me though, and bruh, the cheetah doesn't have a "literal hourglass shape" anyways. She has a more rectangular body type and her hips are narrower than her shoulders. Judy Hopps from Zootipia might be more what you mean by hourglass shape. In any case, god forbid female animal anthropomorphized characters have any kind of hips I guess no matter how little emphasis there is on them in the animation or character? Signed, someone who is, in fact, sick of unnecessary, weird, gendered sexual dimorphism in animals a la Alpha and Omege but really hates this nitpicky shit.

My favorite part about zootipia+ is that going “big” for Weezlton isn’t organized crime but exploiting capitalism.

I’m glad to see they didn’t abandon the political commentary.

Sound design workshop - Activities

Hi everyone! This is a quick little update on the activities we did for the sound design workshop!

The first activity started off with us watching the opening scenes to Dunkirk and Zootipia. After watching those clips, we had to list down all the foley audio we heard.

[ To be honest, there was so much going on with the sounds I couldn't even write down half of the stuff I noticed. ]

The second and final activity for this workshop was to choose 1 out of the 2 muted movie clips and add in our own audio onto it! We were shown a clip from 'I am legend' and from one of the 'Ice Age' movies.

Ayodya, Thameena, Shiza, and I decided to go with the 'I am Legend' clip. It was the perfect choice for us since there was hardly any dialog. It was all to do with foley sounds.

Unfortunately, we came across quite a lot of technical issues when setting up the mic and speakers on Ayodya's laptop. Till everything was sorted out thanks to Chaminda's help, we decided to re-watch the clip and figured out the sounds we needed to include.

This is the list we made for the audio recordings :-

Props used :-

We used quite alot of items for props actually. Off the top of my head, I remember using a bag, water bottle, slime, wooden boards, a jar, mug, a sponge, etc. to capture most of the sounds. We also had to make our own sounds using our voices for some of the audio like the dog's panting, dog creaking (still embarrassed with the sound I made TOT ), wind and chirping in the background, and the special broadcast.

Overall, this was such a fun workshop! I definitely embarrassed myself while trying to create audio with my voice, but at least we got some good laughs out of it!

This workshop also taught me how much importance is given to sound in films. It's actually crazy how we don't even think much of the audio we hear in the movies, even though so much consideration as gone into them. This has in a way opened my eyes to appreciate the effort put into sound design in films!

So a friend of mine challenged me to try and recreate the fox lady from the Bad Guys in the style of Zootipia. Here was the result

I hate that I can already see this from a mile away but I know that only Chloes getting replaced and there isn't gonna be a new rena rouge, carapace, pegasus, viperion, ryuko, king monkey despite hawk moth knowing all of their identities along with Nathalie, but it's cool cause their decent human beings and Marinettes friends! Totally not biased! At all!

(Also Everytime I see Thomas' slander on Chloe I get so upset because I grew up with not so nice people and am able to identify her issues and whats in her head because I use to be like that so him not acknowledging and dismissing this is literally so awful especially to someone like me and to others who went through this and I know if I were to ever bring it up to the likes of him I'll be hit with a 'sHe'S iRrEdEeMaBlE'. And while we're on the topic To add on the whole Vegeta statment lets also not forget that Zuko also tried to assasinate a fricking 10-13 year old, Bakugou from MHA literally told Izuku to kill himself, Peridot from SU tried to carry out the order of the end of Earth, Same with Spinel and Same with the diamonds who where representations of familial and relationship abuse colonized and killed hundreds of planets and it's inahbitants, Gideon from Zootipia bullied and harrased Judy Hopps, Flash Thompson also bullied Peter, Regina George literally an 'exact copy of Chloé' typical mean girl, and the list goes on and on but you know what they all have in common is they were all redeemed and in their own ways which is an example of

So I don't see how all the characters who were just like her from above can be redeemed but she can't *Mic Drop*)

Side note: So I've heard that Sabrina Chloés Lackey and someone we've seen is just like her os gonna get a miraculous and if it's true I'm gonna need you to hold me back

There’s also some rumors claiming that Sabrina will get the Dog Miraculous because of her “loyalty” to Chloe. Make of that what you will.

But yeah, all of those characters are great examples of good redemption arcs. But the difference between them and Chloe is that their creators don’t have an irrational hatred for them.
