These, I believe are my great grandparents, Martha Smith, William Smith and my grandmother Ann Smith. I believe that the child is possibly my Auntie Phylis. The Smiths moved from Haverfordwest to the Rhondda valley. In the 1901 census, William Smith is recorded as a collier.

Ferndale - Death It is with regret that we report that William Dennis (of the above area) died on the 26th February aged 21. The son of John and Hannah Dennis, late of Gadlys Street, Aberdare. His Mother died when he was a small child. Thereafter his Father moved to Ferndale and he lived the majority of his life in the home of his Aunt, Elizabeth Williams in Taff Street. He was buried the Saturday following his death in the public cemetery in Aberdare with the service officiated by the Rev. D. Silyn Evans from Aberdare. He leaves a young widow to mourn for him whom he took as a companion some six months previously. It is for the comforter of the widows and the father of the fatherless to look after her in her distress and longing.
Undertaking research into William Dennis:- my grandmother’s first husband. He died in 1901, just a few month after marrying Ann Smith, my grandmother. Just a few months later, he was killed, I believe in a mining accident. My grandmother then discovered that she was pregnant. The little boy was named William John Dennis, but so far I have been unable to find out what happened to him.

Last night at the Blaenavon Steam Railway. Clocs Canton dancing just before a murder mystery evening. Denzil did it with poison in the black mug.

25/06/13: Plot is sooo weedy, all sprouting up like mad! There was a lot of bindweed on the plot last year, I have dug a lot out but some if it is starting to appear again, along with every other possible sprouting weed! Anyway, a few more hours should get it back under control… Sorted out the sweetcorn, finalised the grid formation and transplanted double sown seeds to fill gaps where the kids had dug up the seeds accidentally! Kept a few spare plants to fill another gaps that may appear from pest damage/child damage etc… The raised beds have gone mental with weeds, well the last one where the shallots were planted! That’s next on my job list! Started at the top (back) of the plot and started working forwards! Need to cut the grass next! It is going mental!
Garlic and carrots weeded and thinned, lets hope the carrot fly font smell it! The globe artichokes are doing very well indeed! I also weeded and raked the path, soon to be the first proper path I have made… When I get around to it!
**BIG NEWS: ate my my first allotment strawberry tonight! (Cut it into 4, 1 piece for each family member!) disappointed with the subtle flavour, but it wasn’t totally ripe, I just couldn’t wait!**

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
Housework. Then, when I'm in a better mood I can enjoy a clean house.
