For my fifth week, I went back to a logo style I created multiple logos in from last year. I really enjoy this style and process as it helps develop my digital drawing skills as well as refining down a specific style.

I decided I wanted to create myself a new phone wallpaper. I love the aesthetic of minimalist designs and had never really tried it before. I created it entirely in Illustrator. To give an idea of how it would look on your phone I placed it on a mockup.

For my third week, I decided I wanted to practice my digital painting skills using my drawing tablet.

I wanted to capture depth and the transition from dark to light in this painting. I am happy with the inside of the cave and river, however feel as if I could improve the opening and sky to better match the light from the sun.

I got interested in using Virtual Reality as a means of creative expression, so looked to ways others do so within VR. I chose the game BeatSaber, a music rhythm game and created my own ‘beatmap’ to a song.

This process allowed me to develop skills in UX, as while in virtual reality, you want the experience to feel smooth and very visually appealing. I did this by timing strobe lights, visual effects and hand movements so that they felt natural and not forced.

I have been using my own virtual reality headset quite a lot recently over the summer and have also been intrigued into UI/UX design. I had previously only used Adobe XD to a very small extent, and I wanted to develop my skills in it.

I practiced using auto-animate, transitions and maintaining a solid theme with a consistent colour palette throughout the app. To stay smooth and have a good flow, I used ease-in and out animations between the pages. I also learnt about maintaining a navigation bar across each page to allow users to access each section of the app easily.
