Obama prism as a meme was started artificially so search engines are less inclined to show you what "prism" could actually mean in this context

Tonight's performance at Chattanooga Noise Night was about accountability. It was about accountability in the sense that it is two sides of a coin.
In the first part of my performance, I spoke of the things fathers with far-right ideologies are doing to create a bleak future for their daughters. In the second part, I held up a photo of myself as a toddler, right when the worst of my physical abuse was occurring. I went around the audience, demanding each person tell her they're sorry.
This was done to show how as abuse victims and trauma/(c)PTSD sufferers, we often project our trauma into others who were not complicit. We are looking for people to fill the roles of caregivers, parents, protectors - those who should have been there for us when the trauma was occurring - and we're just instead emotionally vomiting onto people we love who had nothing to do with what hurt us.
I sang in a higher register over a looped/distorted harmony of my voice of the last part of my set. I was playing the part of a funeral singer, seen in some cultures as mourning those who have been wronged and singing out their anguish. I have said before that I have had to be my own funeral singer, wailing out over what was done to hurt me and mourning the parts of me that were lost.
Several people came up to me after the show, saying how my performance moved them. That's what I was hoping for. Noise can be fun and light-hearted, but I wanted to really get something out there. You can't open any app or go to any website without reading about exploitation and abuse now. Right-wing AND limo liberal moralists still making excuses for men who abuse girls...
The personal is political. The political is personal.
Photos by Jared.
Footage coming soon.

A lot of men write hate comments on women’s posts because it’s the only way they’ll get any female interaction. Stop entertaining them.
