Just as an indirect thing from one of your recent answers: from those times where the animus actually changes history, what is happening to Wikipedia?! How are they affected versus apparently the rest of the world enough for Wikipedia to be changed?
Wikipedia is affected like everything else XD
But no one realized unless it's one of those who are unaffected with how the timeline is changed.
It's not like Wikipedia is time travel proof XD
...
Oh god, it would be funny if it was though. Like people would check Wikipedia and be, like, "???" because of how inaccurate some of the info are so they edit it and it was like... nothing's wrong at all.
What if the server Wikipedia uses is a POE that does have anti-time manipulation powers???
What if the best way to know if someone is messing up the past is checking Wikipedia??? XD

As if catboy Desmond would lower himself to a standoff with a ‘dogboy’. There would be a tense staring competition that last for like a second or two then he’d just meow loudly while zooming out of the room with dogboy Desmond hot on his heel.
He’d get to their master (ancestor) and ooohh, boy, dogboy Desmond is in trouble now, chasing after a worried catboy Desmond.
Then catboy Desmond would grin from behind the ancestor because that had been his plan all along.
From @siofreed
lol got to wonder what kinda muscles he'll end up packing, maybe enough to pick up Ezio & his ridiculous amount of weapons n armor with ease too?
And throw Machiavelli on his other shoulder as well XD
Ezio is just laughing this entire thing off, amused by Desmond’s herding instincts while Machiavelli is embarrassed the entire time.
From @zero-saito
Desmond herding the assassins away from guards? Or maybe assassin kids?
Desmond is the bestest nanny! And he attacks the guards first for daring to attack his herd before herding the kids home. (Removing the threat first is instinct for him)
I think my brain’s just a mess. Dogboy!Desmond likes to “herd” the Assassins. In this context what the fuck does that mean?! Cause my brain’s just imagining him standing with his arms out and physically moving them into the area he wants. And I’m pretty sure that’s not what you meant.
The original dogboy Desmond idea for those curious.
... that is what I mean. Sorta. He's not like t-posing at them. It's more like he's placing his hand on their backs and pushing them gently to where he wants to go.
... unless they're being stubborn then he's grabbing them by the arm or under the armpits and dragging them XD
The only time he's really t-posing is when he wants to herd a lot of them at the same time.

Squids apparently have great eyesight and coupled with the Eagle Vision, Desmond can’t see in the traditional human (or bird) view but a mix of squid and Isu (modified Eagle Vision).
He can’t see or hear using his tentacles, sure, but his hearing is magnified due to Isu genes messing with his squid genes.
The world shows up in the murky waters of the deep sea he finds himself in. White usually means food (fishes and other aquatic life). There is no blue or red glow in the sea.
But above it…
Red shows up in ships, like small pings in a radar to show that they are a danger to him or to the Brotherhood (mostly Templars or Crusaders).
Blue shows up for any ships carrying Assassins (and this is what made him ‘contact’ Kadar first, Kadar showed as the brightest blue and Desmond mistook him for Altaïr first).
But Altaïr was gold.
And Altaïr’s voice is clearer than anyone else even in the deepest part of the sea.
Is it because of their connection?
Or maybe it was Desmond subconsciously focusing his heightened senses on Altaïr.
(His senses aren’t omniscience though, it’s borrowing data from the Calculations XD)
From @thedragonqueen1998
Desmond just stopping by and saying hi is so cute! XD Would Al Mualim know and believe the assassins talking about Altaïr summoning a monster or would he think Altaïr was so scared of water that he panicked and got the others into it? Like, the hysteria just spread to everyone. XD
He’d ask Altaïr about it and would believe Altaïr when he says he’s just annoyed and he doesn’t summon it directly, it just appears. It’s Al Mualim who calls it ‘it’, Altaïr calls it ‘him’. When asked, Altaïr isn’t even sure why he calls it ‘Desmond’ and Al Mualim believes that something POE related is afoot and Altaïr doesn’t know it. Al Mualim would actually order Altaïr for more sea-related missions to find out more information about this ‘Desmond’ (for the safety of the people, of course)
From @zero-saito
Desmond! Guardian of assassins at sea!! Kadar is gonna pester altair once word of the ship incident reaches him. He wants to see his squid friend again!
Yeeessss. Kadar would be like “It’s not surprising that it- oh sorry, he likes you, Altaïr! Who wouldn’t?!” and Altaïr just takes the ‘damage’ quietly because he isn’t going to snap at his only friend.
Abbas was right there and he'd get his chance to let out some steam soon.
Following up to the colossal squid Desmond ask: how the FUCK did Mr. Cannot-fuckin-swim-Altaïr-Ibn-La’Ahad tame a colossal squid?!
He didn’t XD
(Here’s the colossal squid Desmond idea for those curious)
.
Everyone knew that Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad didn’t like traveling by ship.
He’d rather spend days on horseback if it was an option.
If it wasn’t, he would request to Al Mualim that another Assassin be sent instead.
Al Mualim had always agreed as it was the only time he would ask for anything.
So the Brotherhood assumed that he could not swim.
Or that he was deadly afraid of the deep sea.
Perhaps even both.
Because of his status as Al Mualim’s favorite, no one would dare insult him about it.
Except Abbas.
But even against Abbas’ poisoned words, he remained silent.
Ignoring Abbas completely.
Abbas could never get a rise out of him when it concerned his… insistent to remain as far away from the sea as possible.
But there came a time when he had been forced to board a ship.
They had been in the port in Acre, looking for a specific document that was bound to leave the port in an hour.
When they got there, the ship was already about to depart. Someone had tipped them off.
Altaïr and his team had jumped onto the ship before it could leave.
The plan had been to get the document and commandeer the skiff back to the port.
That’s when things became complicated.
They wasted too much looking for a ‘document’.
They learned much too late that the document they were sent to take was actually a person who had memorized everything.
To be more exact…
Three people had memorized the necessary information.
Al Mualim’s orders had been clear.
This ‘document’ must not be retrieved and must never fall into the hands of those in foreign lands.
And one of those people was the captain of the ship.
He had ordered his men to stay alert and look for them.
In such an enclosed space that they have not been to nor have any prior information about, the Assassins were in a disadvantage.
And it all came to head once the ship reached the deep waters.
The waters underneath the ship grew darker.
And Altaïr let out a resigned sigh.
The Assassins heard the crews scream in terror and they followed Altaïr to the deck.
… where long gigantic tentacles rose from the depths, surrounding the ship. One of the tentacles curled around the ship, forcing it to stop.
Another tentacle swept the deck and Altaïr charged in the chaos, making his team shout at him in terror. He jumped the captain, slamming his head to the floor as he ordered, “I need this one alive!”
The tentacle stopped mid sweep before it could hit Altaïr. The tentacle curled around Altaïr and poked his forehead, forcing his hood to drop.
Altaïr glared at the tentacle as he said, “Take the rest. Not this one.”
The tentacle tapped Altaïr on the top of the head once before sweeping the rest of crew members out of the deck.
While Altaïr dragged the captain towards his team. He pushed the captain to one of them as he ordered, “Bind his limbs and mouth.”
“Altaïr… that-”
Altaïr simply sighed and walked back to the deck, “It’s fine. He will take us far enough that we can use the skiff.”
“But Altaïr! That’s-”
“That’s Desmond.” Altaïr smacked the tentacle about to poke his cheek, “He always find me when I’m in the sea.”
Later on, the Brotherhood learned that Altaïr had first met Desmond during the first time he had to travel via a ship. Desmond had stopped the ship to greet him and the crew had panicked and thought he summoned Desmond.
He was pushed off the ship and Desmond destroyed it for ‘hurting’ Altaïr (he wasn’t hurt). After that, Altaïr had to spend a few days being ‘sailed’ by Desmond in a piece of debris from the ship.
Every time he was in the sea, Desmond would come say ‘hi’ and that always led to some kind of misadventure that Altaïr just didn’t have the time or energy for.
And that was why…
Altaïr didn’t like traveling by sea.

And then… after his nap, he got it!
Props!
He needed props!
So he goes to Leonardo to…
… charades which props he needed.
God fucking damn it.
From @thedragonqueen1998
Nope, you are now a cursed demigod Desmond! XD
From @zero-saito
😂 adorable cursed demigod! Would the apple help at all? Or just be a big toy?
It will light up and give information that Desmond is thinking about but, strangely enough, the Apple does not have any information about Desmond Miles. The best he gets when thinking of Desmond Miles is a recording of Minerva talking about Desmond to another Isu with words that can be mistaken as an emotionally repressed older sister (or mother) planning to raise him well.
Desmond is pretty sure the Apple is fucking with him. XD

After seeing that chinchilla Desmond ask, it reminded me of my first impression upon encountering the ferox in Ark survival evolved, Genesis part 1. I know it has a cat/fox like face and kind of red panda tail and monkey-ish body but, my first experience with it was in game, as I hadn’t watched the trailer. And I thought it was a mutated chinchilla…
Saying that! A Ferox! Desmond au would be amazing. He’s small and cute, doing cute little hops to beg for treats, and then he’s a 7 foot tall wolf-gorilla thing capable of tearing your head off your body…
I just have a picture of guards angrily breaking into an ancestor’s house (like the Auditore villa at the start of AC2) and finding this cute…thing just sitting on the other side of the door, wagging it’s tail, and then they watch in horror as it suddenly grows, up and up, and up.
And then there’s nothing but screams…
================================
Additions by teecup
For those unfamiliar with what a Ferox look like, here you go:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Desmond would probably spend quite a lot of time trying to get used to his new body, especially his newly acquired four arms so he’d be a bit of a klutz too. And he’d be super surprised when he first transforms into his other form but also ‘hell yeah!’.
Desmond would just be a fluffy sweet bunny? Fox? Cat? No one knows (and Leonardo is trying to understand what he is) but that doesn’t really matter since Desmond is more or less docile and just likes to eat and cuddle. Not being liked by him would make a person a social pariah XD
So we have an idea of how Desmond could screw up AC2 (also, he can totally protect Monteriggioni by going on a rampage on the papacy army, although this might start a rumor of Monteriggioni having a demon as an attack dog) and Desmond could easily thwart Charles Lee’s plan to burn down Ratonhnhaké:ton’s village by going ham on them either while staying with Kaniehtí:io that day or by transforming and ‘taking care’ of the soldiers before Charles Lee could even hurt Ratonhnhaké:ton.
Now, the most common setup would be for Desmond to be Altaïr’s pet but may I suggest an alternative: Desmond as baby Sef’s pet? Sef found him while he and Darim are playing (maybe they were even able to sneak out of Masyaf) and he brought him back because Desmond doesn’t recognize Sef but he looks a lot like Altaïr so he just makes soft purring sounds as he put all his arms in the air in the universal gesture of ‘pick me up’ and Sef does.
His transformation is kept a secret and Altaïr thinks Desmond might have mutated with the use of a POE. He’s still more or less Sef’s pet even though Desmond likes to follow Altaïr around when Sef isn’t in Masyaf.
So when Swami tried to assassinate Sef in his sleep, Desmond is curled on top of Sef’s chest and he jumped down, staring at Swami.
Swami’s eyes widened as Desmond transformed right in front of him and he let out a scream that gets drowned by Desmond’s roar.
Sef immediately wakes up to see Desmond pinning Swami against the floor and Sef knew that something fishy is certainly going on. Even though Swami is babbling that it was his father who ordered for his death, Sef doesn’t believe him.
First of all: His father wouldn’t order for this death. Of all the things Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad might and might not be, his love for his family will never be questioned.
Second of all: Even if Altaïr wanted him dead, he wouldn’t pick someone like Swami to kill him, that’s insulting. (At this point, both Swami and Desmond just stare at Sef because, yeah, he might be nicer and sweeter than his father but the Ibn-La'Ahad arrogance seems to be hereditary).
“Third of all…” Sef looked at Desmond and grinned, “Shall we get some exercise, Desmond?”
Desmond roared his agreement and…
That day, the conspiracy against Altaïr’s family and allies was thwarted by a large monster. Many of Abbas’ supposed allies squealed like pigs and admitted everything while being pinned down by said monster.
Malik drowned in paperwork that day.

From @airvire
Wait, what about Edwards reaction to Ryuji’s persona: Captain Kidd
He’d definitely try to talk to the Persona and be bummed out that other Personas seemed less ‘conscious’ since they are a reflection of the user’s hidden self.
This leads to everyone wondering why Desmond’s Personas have ‘personalities’ and Desmond guessed it’s because they’re a part of him.
This leads to Desmond talking about the Bleeding Effect and someone asks if this means that Desmond has multiple personalities and those personalities leeched onto his Personas.
Desmond is absolutely not sure.
During the entire thing, Ratonhnhaké:ton whispers to Ryuji’s persona that he apologizes for ‘stealing’ his tresaure.
If Desmond ever ended up in the Persona 5 universe, I wonder what he would think of the Phantom Thieves? Would he be a confidant for Akira/Ren/Joker, be a neutral party? Become a Phantom Thief himself? I can't help but think that because of his Bleeds, he'd end up having his ancestors show up as Personas to help him fight in the Metaverse.
Ngl, I wanna make Desmond the Sun because of my penchant of giving Desmond something related to the very thing that killed him but based on his ‘situation’, these are the Arcanas that Desmond can be part of in my opinion:
Aeon (many of the Aeon Personas have an affinity to light and a common theme for Aeon representatives are that they are unfamiliar with the world they are in and are struggling to find their place in this world which describes Desmond’s current predicament and also… there’s no Aeon confidant in P5 so Desmond won’t be sharing this spot with anyone or, worse, won’t be removing an existing confidant)
Sun (A character in a lonely and most of the time terribly situation, signifying the hopelessness of them succeeding with the end results being them having to reflect on their situation and coming to peace with themselves and what is happening to them)
Moon (being attuned subconsciously to the world around someone, gaining the ability to sense things without being told about them, or without anyone else knowing, this arcana is also sometimes called the Arcana of Lies and Deceit which Desmond would be doing anyway because there’s no way he’ll tell the truth)
Death (metamorphosis and deep change, regeneration and cycles… which can also hint on Desmond’s origin as someone not from this world)
Personally, I do see Desmond as a Phantom Thief and acting like the cool older brother type to these teenagers. But being a neutral party seems more like his style, considering… everything.
So I would suggest we make Desmond a neutral party the Phantom Thieves meet up with in the Metaverse from time to time, mostly in Mementos because, in his own words ‘something calls to me here’.
The Phantom Thieves don’t know he’s the same bartender that works at Crossroads who would always give Joker a Shirley Temple whenever he’s on break. Lala told Joker that Desmond looked ‘lost’ so she helped him out (in more ways than one, Lala actually thinks Desmond is undocumented and helped him be an ‘upstanding citizen’…)
Desmond, for his part, is just happy that, for some reason, he knows Japanese? He has a feeling it’s one of his Bleed and many people tell him he speaks like he’s from a period drama so yeah, there’s that (it’s one of his Ibn-La'Ahad ancestors who knew Japanese because they chased the Mongols to Japan)
As for Desmond’s Persona…
It would be funny to give him Minerva or Juno as a Persona but we’re not that evil. Another idea would be to give him Dionysus for our usual ‘Desmond could totally be Dionysus’ Sage’ idea that pops in and out XD
Although…
So we’re going to make Desmond special because he’s our blorbo and we’ll use the Persona 1 and 2 plot of how the characters get their Persona.
He does the Persona game because he was bored one day XD
And that’s how he starts to hear Mementos’ call.
And while he journeys in Mementos by himself, that’s when he encounters the Shadows… of his Bleeds.
Confronting them (which always ends in a boss fight) ends with him receiving their Arcana and his Bleeds become his Personas.
His Bleeds’ Arcanas:
Altaïr: Hermit (wisdom, introspection, solitude, retreat and philosophical searches)
Ezio: Judgment (associated with realizing one's calling, gaining a deep understanding of life and a feeling of acceptance and absolution)
Ratonhnhaké:ton: Hanged Man (sometimes self-sacrificial or self-loathing, but are more often notable for being caught between two different extremes, parties or stages in life of which they have little to no control – always in the middle of two opposing forces and he’s doing his best to protect his people given what’s happening) or Strength (associated with the morality about the stronger power of self-control, gentleness, courage and virtue over brute force)
Haytham: Emperor (desire to control one's surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable)
Desmond’s real Arcana and his own Persona (which may or may not be some biblically accurate angel-like figure with all of his Bleeds around a small orb similar to the Apple of Eden in the same veins of the Norns design) will only awaken after Joker reaches max level with him.
Also, the Phantom Thieves don’t know it’s him because his form in the Metaverse is always hooded with the robes changing depending on which Persona he uses (at the start, they thought it was different dudes until Desmond changed Personas in midbattle)… and yes, that includes Haytham. Desmond gets a hood too even when he’s using Haytham but he also has Haytham’s tacohat. Them’s the rules.

got any hcs for the boys in modern au?
Hmm 🤔
Desmond: would stay same, if Assassins etc stuff didnt exist, he would be a bartender that escaped an abusive home bc his dad was crazy about the world ending and him being the antichrist or saviour, so he would isolate him etc. Back w his beloved motorbike
Ezio: Chef or funnier idea... Jobless bc of family money. If he is younger he could be a delivery guy lmao. Is one of those "rich? Nah my family just worked hard so we are well off now" kinda mfs that doesnt get he is rich rich. His family would be alive amd very much in his life. Big gift giver, funds Leos entire art career almost. Is horrified by Desmonds motorbike
Altaïr: he could be a Syrian or Arabic litriture prof? Or an author? He probobly did a lot of odd jobs during youth may e got in a lot of trouble, maybe one of it caused indirectly for Malik to loose his arm but Kadar would be alive. He would call his dad like 2-3 times a yr at most. He would try rlly hard to be the most mature out of them and the other two would push his buttons to take out his arrogant n cocky side.
They would all meet at Desmonds bar or a rock climbing place, Ezio would befriend (flirt with) Desmond first then Desmond would befriend Altaïr. I think Altaïr would make the first actual move w Desmond while all 3 are hanging out and Ezio would be like "WTF not fair me too!!"
Claudia would forever make fun of the fact that they share scars
Ngl I dont rlly read Modern Au's so hope these make sense xhsjsj 😭sorry😭 im much more interested in going back in time or canon time etc etc I do sometimes like it when they time travel to modern times tho

*gets through the fireplace* Bonjour! Desmond in the Uncharted games! Because I find it funny if he would meet Nathan, thanks to them having the same VA. Adios! *uses the smoke bomb and runs*
So, for this one, we’re going for the Uncharted series is part of the AC series because plot bunny just hit me right at the face.
And yes.
Nathan Drake is absolutely a descendant of the Auditore-Kenway line. (Spoilers to the Uncharted series), it’s heavily implied Nate isn’t really related to Francis Drake and we’ll make use of that setup.
The church Nate grew up in was actually a front of the Brotherhood. His family doesn’t have ties with the Brotherhood, not really, but Sam did learn of the Brotherhood during his stay in the orphanage and is recruited.
Now, Sam isn’t exactly loyal to the Creed. More often than not, he was more in it to get the skills necessary to survive. He kept it a secret from Nate though because he didn’t want him dealing with anything related to the Templars and the Assassins. To keep Nate away from the Templars and the Assassins, Sam tells Nate that they’re last name is Drake.
Samuel Morgan was an Assassin.
Sam Drake was Nathan Drake’s older brother.
So things happened…
Nate meets Sully while Sam was in prison (an undercover mission for the Brotherhood).
Later on, Nate joins Sam in adventuring but Sam keeps any thing connected to the Assassins and the Brotherhood away from Nate.
Sam is an Assassin who is only known by very few other Assassins but Nate has some inkling that something fishy was going on, he just wasn’t sure what it was.
There were specific artifacts that Sam wanted and was okay parting with more lucrative stuff just to get it.
But then…
They teamed up with Rafe…
Sam supposedly died…
Even in the eyes of the Brotherhood.
And that is how Samuel Morgan died and Sam Drake survived the Great Purge that would happen two years from his apparent death.
.
So we have different points in Uncharted that we can catapult Desmond to.
2008 – A 21 year old Desmond is employed by Elena Fisher as her cameraman as they join Nathan Drake in finding Francis Drake’s coffin. This ends with them being part of the whole quest for El Dorado (the corpse of which is an Isu that contracted some kind of deadly virus that is severely dangerous to humans but Desmond and Nate have immunity due to their Isu genes). In this one, Nate actually acts more like an older big brother to Desmond and Elena joked about how they sound a lot alike.
2010 – A 23 year old Desmond gets roped into Chloe and Harry’s plan with Nate because he’s been fired from Bad Weather due to an altercation and has been sidelining as a thief using the training he received from the Farm. He also may or may not have had a fling with Harry Flynn (according to Chloe) and Nate is absolutely questioning Desmond’s taste.
2012 – Desmond escaped Abstergo before the Assassins got him and he is absolutely suffering from Altaïr’s Bleeding Effect. It’s by chance that he is in Yemen at the same time Nate and Sully are there to meet up with Elena. Maybe you can even add in that Desmond used to be Elena’s cameraman for a bit. Anyway, he joins the group because he feels like he knows the Atlantis of Sands that they are looking for. To be more exact… his Bleed of Altaïr knows of it.
2015 – Desmond survived the Solar Flare and has been working for the Brotherhood. He’s tasked with looking into a man named Sam Drake because he sounded a lot like the late Samuel Morgan and they needed to check if he is (1) alive and (2) faked his own death because he was a Templar mole like Daniel Cross. He gets roped into the search of Avery’s treasure and ends up Bleeding as Edward more than once because Edward knows a bit about this supposed treasure.
.
And, just to be clear, Nate does not have the exact same ancestors as Desmond. He’s Haytham Kenway’s descendant from a fling he had in England so they have the same ancestors from the Auditore-Kenway line until Haytham Kenway.

Greetings, I come bearing free range, organic, additive free crack. For example, you may have noticed you tend to write quite a lot of time travel fic of Desmond Miles changing history, and I this suggest sending instead, Shaun Hastings, the bookworm who is technically still an assassin. Until we greet again!
Strangely enough, I do have a Shaun Hastings gets punted to the past and reborn as someone close to Desmond's ancestor idea for a Yew Branch. (was planning on writing it last year but, uuuhh, things happened in RL XD)
The idea is that Shaun gets reborn as Malik Al-Sayf and he 'tries' to keep history as is because he has no idea what would happen to Desmond if he doesn't but Altaïr makes that a bit difficult because he's so smart but he does the dumbest shit while they were training.
So it's part Al-Sayf family bonding with Shaun having to deal with being a good big brother for Kadar who obviously has a crush on Altaïr (Shaun is absolutely judging his younger brother's taste), part Altaïr and Shaun friendship (sorta) and part Shaun absolutely trying to ignore Abbas the entire time but that's so hard to do because Abbas is so close to Altaïr that Shaun gets why Altaïr has trouble letting go of their friendship after Abbas betrays him.
Really, one of the major conflicts in the idea was Altaïr and Shaun butting heads because Shaun is super critical (and easily annoyed) by Abbas who is just trying to befriend him and Altaïr is annoyed at Shaun because Abbas is his bff.
Shaun definitely has his work cut out for him.
... and, yes, Desmond is in this. He's been Yew Branch-styled reborn as well and the mystery is who he is (if he's even in Masyaf while all of these is going on or if this is a similar case to Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major)

#i guess this is the prologue of every animal and creature desmond? #< this is so cool! #in my mind palace (which look more like google tabs) each creature!Desmond is already a different fic in the same series (ao3 style). #this post can be the first work in the series but the twist (there's a legitimate reason that a creature!Desmond appears in each timeline) #make it more of the last work or the work that interludes the next arc to me #im rambling lol #assassin's creed #desmond miles
Yeeessssssss. In my mind, it's like the 'season finale'. Somewhere in the middle after a few oneshots or so. To add mystery and also to bully readers because 'season finale' means the series is going on a hiatus XD
From @thinkingwildthoughts
Layla, Clay, Lucy, Elijah, Desmond’s Mom- it could’ve even been Petruccio who loosed the Menagerie!
Yeeessssss. The 'suspect list' is endless. Hell, it can even be Cesare Borgia trying to fuck shit up and fucking up instead XD
Weird compound idea. So I was thinking about how there’s so many animal Desmonds they could fill a zoo. And then I had the thought: Desmond Zoo! Some Isu got Desmond’s DNA and replicated him in animal form like fifty times over and made a zoo. Until one day, one slip up, one tiny mishap, one minuscule mistake leads to a Desmond outbreak!
Okay but what if all the animal Desmond were from the same ‘in between’. Not just the animal Desmonds but the creature Desmonds as well.
They’re all kept in suspended animation, in a facility that exist nowhere and everywhere at the same time, its existence forever weaving through the countless calculations all around it.
And in this facility, there lies only one caretaker.
But then…
Someone infiltrated the facility.
It is currently unknown if the plan had been to steal a specific Desmond or something else but the caretaker manages to find the infiltrator before they could do anything.
But in the chase that happened afterwards…
The lock placed upon all of the Desmonds was unlocked.
And the stability of the facility broke.
The Desmonds were thrown into different timelines within the Calculations where they would wake up without any memories of how they got there.
And now…
It is up to the caretaker to find them and return them to the facility once more.
Of course…
It was easier said than done, considering how these Desmonds tend to… ‘find’ their way towards the people who would do everything to keep them safe.
Even from a caretaker who was more Isu than human.

Alright, so I wrote angst with Desmond’s mother two days(?) ago. Will this be different? Idk, I’m making this as I go.
His mom had always been… a bit distant. Not just to him but to her supposed husband too.
Desmond never knew the reason growing up.
Until he heard them talking (they were arguing but they didn’t raise their voices at all, most probably so he wouldn’t wake up, joke’s on them, they trained him well enough that he wakes up to the smallest of noises, it was a pain when he started living outside the Farm) about his late grandfather.
He knew their marriage was a contractual one, especially on his mother’s side.
Bill seemed to love her (and how strange it was for Desmond to hear Bill say “I love you”) but she had shot that down with a cold “I will never love you, William Miles.”
Back then, Desmond thought she didn’t love him as well.
But Altaïr’s Bleed showed him how similar she was to the other Levantine Assassins during Al Mualim’s reign.
How strange it was.
Altaïr tried to change the Brotherhood because he wished children to know of their parents’ love.
Yet, one of his descendants practiced Al Mualim’s thoughts about familial love, not his.
It was like the universe was laughing at the futility of their struggles.
Was it too late to change such thing between him and his mom?
Who knows.
What he does know is that she was gentle when she pressed the ice pack against his reddening cheek.
Her expression was blank yet Desmond could see the resemblance to Altaïr in her eyes.
She had the same light brown eyes as Desmond did, unlike Altaïr’s golden eyes.
But they held the same warmth Altaïr had when he cleaned Sef’s knee after he tripped.
Desmond could still remember the sting Sef felt, the way tears fell from his eyes and Altaïr just awkwardly patted his head, trying to comfort him but unused to such gestures himself.
Unlike Altaïr, she held more grace in her movements.
Not surprising.
She had a lot of practice helping Desmond with the injuries he got from training.
“You don’t have to do this.”
If those words came from Bill, he would have assumed they were empty.
Words said to placate him.
But she was like him, incapable of lying out right.
The two of them only dealt in half-truths and easily misunderstood vague words.
There was no vagueness in her words.
She was telling him that she would let the Solar Flare hit if he wanted to quit.
Maybe… she really did see him back then.
Maybe she did turn her back and run to the other side of the Farm, shouting his name and begging him to come back.
… and giving him a chance to leave.
And she was giving it to him once more.
He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against hers. He felt her freeze but he just smiled as he whispered…
“Thanks, mom.”
Random thing: I just wanna imagine that scene where Desmond gets hit by Bill and just the second that his fist connects Desmond’s mom appears ready to go mama bear on this jackass for punching her son.
Desmond has no idea what just happened.
One moment, he felt then the pain blossoming from his cheek, his feet staggering a few steps back, his mind reeling as his body reacted instinctively to weaken the blow he just received.
Then…
Shaun and Rebecca shout.
For a moment, he had thought they screamed because of what happened to him.
But that was impossible.
Their reaction was a second too late.
They did not expect Bill to hit him but they also didn’t believe they had any right to go between them.
His head was still ringing when he saw her slap Bill with enough force to topple him to the ground. She wasted no time, kicking him while he was down.
Their shout had been a warning of her appearance.
Her movements were meant for speed, not strength, but she had always used that to her advantage. She tried to teach him that.
She also taught him to fight dirty and always aim for the weak spot. And that was what she was doing.
Her first kick was aimed between his legs.
As was her second.
Her third.
On and on, she continued to focus her quick strikes between Bill’s legs.
It was the Assassins who came with her that tried to drag her away from Bill, begging her to stop and to calm down.
It took three of them to drag her away.
He recognized them.
They were from the Farm.
What were they doing here?
Desmond has no idea.
She didn’t bother to say anything, pulling away from their hold and walking away from Bill who remained on the ground, twitching as he coughed up saliva.
She walked towards Desmond and placed her hands on his neck, his hands warm.
“Desmond…”
When he was growing up, he had always found her to be cold and distant.
But reliving Altaïr’s memories…
He finally recognized the softness in her gaze. The way her tone would becomes a bit gentler.
She reminded him of the many Levantine Assassins Altaïr had seen, unable to show their love for their children under Al Mualim’s reign.
So he smiles even if his cheek ached.
“Hey, mom.”
(Desmond’s mom’s main combo is Altaïr’s bitch slap followed by nuts or nothing)

Abstergo just fucking around and finding out via Eddy the Capybara.
Desmond woke up because the power went out and that mean the AC was turned off.
It was stuffy inside his room.
He groaned and sat up, wondering if Abstergo getting hit by a power outage was normal or did the Assassins finally here to save him.
He was already thinking of how he was going to escape them once they were out of Abstergo.
But hey, maybe they weren’t there to save him.
Maybe they were there to kill him.
It wouldn’t be surprising.
William Miles drilled into his mind the three tenets.
“Do not compromise the Brotherhood.”
Desmond wondered if his view of his own father was skewered beyond saving. That he was exaggerating William Miles’ willingness to kill his own son.
A disappointment and runaway, of course.
Who knows?
Walking around the room, he learned that…
(1) The showers did not work without electricity
(2) The doors did not work without electricity
That second was a bit concerning but there was no use panicking.
So Desmond just returned to bed to try and sleep it off.
Only to be hit by a vent cover on the face.
Desmond pulled the vent cover off his face but kept holding it in case it could be used as a shield in case the Assassins did get someone to kill him.
And Eddy’s big round face looked back at him from the open vent opening above him.
Desmond blinked at him before he pointed at Eddy’s fur.
“You’ve got red on you.”
*chants* CAPYBARA! EDWARD KENWAY! CAPYBARA! EDWARD KENWAY!
The last thing Edward remembered was the sound of his son screaming as he cut down the man that tried to attack Tessa. He could feel the blood leaving his body, staining his clothes and making it stick to his skin. His vision was getting blurrier by the second.
He heard Tessa scream.
His finger twitched.
And Edward Kenway breathed his last.
There was no light in the darkness to follow.
His life did not pass quickly before him.
None of the friends he had lost throughout the ages come greet him.
There was a cold that numbed his entire body.
Then nothingness.
He didn’t know how long he stayed in that state of nothingness.
When he realized that he was no longer nothing, the first thing he felt was warmth.
A bit itchy but it was warm.
And he was terribly hungry.
“Oh shit, you’re awake. Uuuuhhh…”
He blinked at the man in front of him. He was wearing strange clothes and English with an accent that Edward could not place. For a moment, the scar on his lips reminded him of the descriptions of both Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore before the man almost tripped on himself as he tried to get to the other side of the room, mumbling to himself, “Can you eat Chinese?”
Edward watched with a body that seemed to weak to move at the moment.
“Oh shit, are you a capybara?” The man asked as he looked over some kind of rectangular slate in his hand. He pocketed it as the same time as putting back some kind of white strangely shaped box inside some kind of cabinet that lit up all on its own.
Instead, he took out some kind of vegetable and closed the cabinet.
He broke the vegetable apart, taking one leaf and pressing it on Edward’s… lips?
Edward ate it.
And realized…
He had a snout.
The man’s lips curved into a small smile and he fed Edward another leaf.
Edward continued to eat, his body moving on its own as his mind was still reeling for the fact that he was now inhabiting a non-human body.
What did the man call him?
A capybara?
What was that?
“My name’s Desmond.” The man introduced himself as he continued to feed Edward, “You almost made me pee my pants, you know. I thought some asshole threw a really big dead rat in the trash behind my apartment then you moved and well…”
Desmond shrugged, not bothering to finish his story as he gave Edward the last of leaf.
“I should buy you more food…” Desmond mused before he grimaced, “Shit.”
“Do you think it’s illegal to own a capybara?”
