Tommy is Bucks home. 🄰🄰🄰
They demonstrate this so clearly through the loft.
Buck gets the loft s2e18 with Ali who wants him ā€œliving like a real adultā€. We see the loft empty with minimal furniture & no decorations, then after their breakup he adds a few items (the large living room picture, the small picture set by the door), but then it stays the same throughout 5 seasons! Thats 5 years living there with nothing changing (except the couch). Even when Taylor lives there in s5, the extent of the change she brings is her couch, a plant & a vase. Considering all the boxes she had… this makes no sense except to demonstrate it wasn’t home. Every shot of the loft since the start it remains impersonal, it looks like a show room not someone’s home. While he’s dating Natalia in s6, the only change is the living room tree. From s3 through s7 this impersonal space is where Buck lives…. and then he finds Tommy ā˜ŗļø.
At the start there isn’t changes (s7), they’re just starting out…. but when we move to s8, they’ve been dating a while, they’re falling in love…
When we see the loft in s8e5 it’s been transformed into a warm space. Where by the door Buck’s bike hung, very utilitarian for just him, now there is a coat rack/bench/shelf system, visitors can hang their coat, stay a while. Where before the kitchen was only purposeful, now there are decorative accents like canisters. Where many walls were bare there’s now art. Where the table was an empty drop zone for a bag & keys, it’s now warmly set ready for company. There’s a blanket. There’s candles all over (these boys like candlelight 🤭🄰)… the table, by the patio doors, in the living room… He now puts out seasonal decorations, (again lots of candles šŸ˜‹), & perhaps the most touching, the fridge is now covered in photos, where before it was bare.
Buck lived in the loft for 5 years leaving it as a cold impersonal utilitarian space… but as he fell in love with Tommy, he found his home, & made it reflect in his space. 🄹
