Nostalgia

I logged into my tumblr to try and find some Wizard101 fanart some people did for me and I’ve spent like three hours on here just looking at all my old posts. I cringed a few times ngl cause some of the stuff I posted but at the same time I miss all my old friends that I would play with back in 2016-17. I miss this place, but I think this will be my last and final post on here. I hope all of my old friends are doing well. May your wands stay true and your spells never fizzle!

Wizard Jewellery Headcanons

Brain go brr thinking about wizards and jewellery and how the schools of magic would interact with them

Storm wizards enjoy piercings because of the way the metal ones conduct electricity! They have to be careful about how they place them though, parallel piercings can create small circuits between them and make for singed eyebrows. Most storm wizards will only pierce one ear to avoid making a circuit between their ears- no one has fried their brains yet but few want to risk being the first. They have to either clean their piercings frequently or get ones that don’t rust since they’re around moisture all the time. Ice wizards are probably more stingy about jewellery, mainly because super cool metal on skin is a recipe for disaster. They’ve been known to get jewellery stuck on them more often and tend towards necklaces since they can take them off easily by themselves and they don’t have to be on contact with their skin. Alternatively some wear jewellery made of stone, wood, gems and string, etc, they can still be uncomfortably cold but its less likely to cause any frostbite. Fire wizards have been known to heat the jewellery they’re wearing when they cast spells, sometimes this just makes them hot to the touch and sometimes it leaves them half melted, discoloured, or on fire. They have to either wear enchanted jewellery or pick their materials Very Carefully. They’re fond of jewels, much like the dragons their power comes from, seeing as it’s a lot harder to melt a gem or crystal. Myth wizards adore trinkets, especially second hand ones or ones with enchantments to them. A signet ring, a locket with a portrait, anything with a bit of history to it. They’re sometimes able to read the history of them, where they’ve been, what type of people wore them, when they were made. Ask a conjurer about their jewellery at your own peril, you may be in for a history lesson instead. Life wizards tend towards natural materials, and may not even wear conventional jewellery at all. They might grow a daisy chain for themselves, weave a bracer of vines up their own arms, grow flowers into their hair. They may try to recreate past jewelries, but no two will ever be exactly the same and that ever changing nature is exactly how theurgists like it. Death wizards are well known as goth or goth adjacent, many of them love things that are black or pointy or shaped like skulls, piercings, chokers the works. Unfortunately their passive magic has been known to cause things to decay faster, and jewellery is no exception. Death wizards can’t get too attached to any one pair of earrings because the more they’re worn the sooner they’ll be worn out. Balance wizards LOVE jewellery with rocks, stones, glass, anything that comes from the ground really. Usually they’ll layer a few of each accessory they wear, they’ll rarely stop at one necklace or one bracelet or ring. Anything they wear is liable to be sandblasted at some point, on accident or no, and their jewellery often has a rough texture with many small nicks in it.
