Avengers Academy routinely shocks me with what it is able to do on-panel and this objectively isn't as bold as the politics or its fairly obviously closeted Carol, but I am still shocked by it.

Spideytorch but everyone thinks they're already dating except for Johnny

Even Peter thinks they're dating. Okay, not actually dating, as in had that conversation or revealed their feelings, but they do all the date stuff with food and private views, seek each other out at every turn, and have crushes the sizes of boulders on one another. Peter is just waiting for Johnny to realize his own feelings

In the meantime Johnny will pretend he still has a hate-on for Peter, despite also claiming him as his best friend, deny all accusations and assumptions made by friends/family/strangers/heroes/villains...just about everyone, and generally make a fool of himself getting caught in tiny closets with Peter (private bestie conversation!), cuddling with Peter (they were napping, he can't control what his body does in his sleep), seeing each other naked (hero to hero, sometimes you can't stitch a stab wound in your back by yourself), watching a private view of the sunset together on a national land mark (when swinging and flame-tastic powers can get you dinner views like these, who are they not to take advantage?), and smiling gently at Peter when he isn't looking because his boy's beauty is unrestricted and never-ending, his laugh like a choir of cherubs, and his joy warmer than Icarus' last mistake (...uh, no homo)

Whatever, Peter is a patient guy, and he already has enough of a boyfriend to be content. Johnny will catch up with the news eventually
