Comedy/Drama Cop Show

Officer Derek Hale is good at getting criminals caught, he’s not so good at keeping partners. Derek doesn’t need a partner, he never will. To put your trust in someone else in this job is a mistake he won’t be making again. When Commissioner Argent tells him his new partner is going to be Officer Stiles Stilinski, he does so with the sort of delighted gleam in his eye that makes Derek distinctly anxious. 

When Derek meets the kid, he realizes he wasn’t anxious enough; Officer Stilinski is a menace determined to adhere to every cop stereotype he can, solely to piss Derek off. It’s been a week, and Derek still hasn’t got the doughnut jam out of his shirt from when Stilinski was gesturing wildly, with his doughnut filled hands, to punctuate a particularly brutal murder story. Derek hadn’t been able to eat jam on his toast since.

The kid’s too excitable, and he doesn’t shut up, even when Derek doesn’t reply. Normally they take the hint and shut up. Derek longs for any of his previous partners, all is forgiven, Even Greenberg wasn’t this bad. Derek will never forgive commissioner Argent for this, he is officially off Derek’s Christmas card list for life.  

Eventually Derek ends up talking (just because he wants an easy life you understand, not because Stiles…Officer Stilinski is growing on him). Derek is fine on his own, although he will admit Stiles is actually really good at the job. But Derek doesn’t need him, or his big eyes and deft hands, he’s a one man arresting machine OK? Only then he’s not.

They’re on a break, Stiles has gone for food and Derek is stretching his legs, and as the three guys appear from nowhere and surround him — guns raised and shouting about vengeance for their brother Dan — he thinks he’s going probably going to die in this shitty alley, right up until the point he hears the words, “I can’t leave you alone for five minutes to even get a doughnut can I?”  Derek thinks it might be time to admit to himself that maybe this one is a keeper.
