You shouldn’t battle your emotions.
Don’t reject them. Instead, tell yourself: “This emotion is tough and it makes me uncomfortable, but I will let myself experience what I’m feeling. It will improve in time. Emotions aren’t permanent. I’m going to intentionally engage in this emotion for a bit, then I can divert my attention. My emotions are real and acceptable. I’m not in conflict with myself. I don’t want to desensitise myself. Everything has its own time.”
