Been doing some practice work, trying to get the time I spend on art down and my output more consistent.
This piece isn’t done yet, but it’s got me curious if people would be interested in cheap solo-shots of planets as commissions? With options for shading, rings, etc of course!

I don’t think I ever posted this! This is a family of planets I designed for my own Kerbal Space Program mod, but life is leading me away from that original vision of the project…
Maybe it’ll evolve into the setting of a story? Maybe a series of art pieces? Who knows…
My fondness for these worlds has never vanished, so I’m sure I’ll think of something!

Planetary Nebula Art Study - IRAS 23166+1655 (LL Pegasi)
There's just something about this nebula that came over me today. Wanted to try a very fast sketchy piece, just to get me in the spirit of doing art when the feeling hits and getting less touchy about specifics.

“YOU WERE BEAUTIFUL.”
Tumblr media
A necessary and long over-due update to this old piece of art
In the time since that post VD57 was officially named Dinkinesh, and Lucy’s close up revealed it to be far more spectacular than my artist rendition could’ve ever foreseen—because Dinkinesh turned out to be a binary.
Thank you so much to Dinkinesh and its moon Selam for providing possibly the most surprising event in solar system science last year!
Next stop — Earth flyby in December on the way to asteroid Donaldjohanson!

“YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.”
Tumblr media
(152830) 1999 VD57 is a small, stony main-belt asteroid 700 meters (2,300 feet) in diameter. It was discovered by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) survey at Socorro, New Mexico on 4 November 1999. This asteroid was identified as a flyby target for NASA's Lucy mission in January 2023, which will approach 450 km (280 mi) from the asteroid on 1 November 2023. 1999 VD57 will be Lucy's first and smallest flyby target and it will become the smallest main-belt asteroid visited by a spacecraft yet. It was identified as a target by Raphael Marschall, mission collaborator of the Nice Observatory, only after Lucy had launched, due to the asteroid's small size.
1999 VD57 has not been named yet, but the Lucy mission team has proposed the provisional name Dinkinesh, after the Ethiopian name for the Lucy fossil after which this NASA mission is named.
Dinkinesh translates approximately to “You Are Beautiful.”

REMOVE YOUR PROFILE IMAGE! You do NOT have permission! It is MY image.
Of course! I would never get between an artist and their work, I have made the change you requested. Thank you for alerting me.
It appears you made your account explicitly to alert me that I am wrongfully using your image, that’s perfectly fine, probably the best way to get my attention. However, I would encourage you to stick around and repost your work on this site, you’re an extremely talented photographer and I think you’d do numbers.
Edit: I thought it may be prudent to note; the image may continue to appear in google search or reverse image searches for a bit, but rest assured those results will disappear given time now that the image has been removed from my blog. Thank you for your time.
