Titles

Before I forget I really liked how the titles came out! (Exceopt for the c).

I used a 3d camera, my petal/’sakura’(rose petal) particles and silhouettes.

Evaluation

Well, what a journey this has been from start to finish.

I am actually very proud of this weird video :) It's incredibly silly and that's what I like about it!

I am very happy with the consistent design. My favourite sections are the name cards, titles and dancing.

I would have personally liked to have made this a bit longer but I am glad that for now I’ve kept it short and to the best of my ability :)

Transitions

I really wanted to use shapes as transitions! I tried a couple of tutorial but found not much were working however I loved how these circles looked

I prefer my colours :)

I noticed in a lot of anime openings they have swift transitions with shapes.

Repetile

I used repetile from this video tutorial to animated my backgrounds and to create patterns.

Stars

I really wanted to recreate the same star effect seen in Lucky Star but I didn’t know how 

I started of trying with the repeater tool and affecting the anchorpoint but the stars were to sparse. :

Next, I decided to stick with the repeater tool but this time I made one straight line with rotation going in one direction. Duplicated it and changed the colours multiple times.

Since my inspiration is Lucky Star (it was the only cheerful anime opening with a chicken dub) I want to recreate the images of people in locations but with chickens

I made some cherry blossom using particles, applied 3D camera and lens flare.

With Mabel just the zoom on 3D camera and puppet tool

How to take photos of chickens 101!

So.. its not exactly easy.

The first thing is to find the greediest- in our case that would be Mabel who’s a bit of a lump. She loves food and will cluck at you for food. If you stand far away from here and offer food she’ll jog over and she looks like a lil dinosaur.

SEe that look! Take a good look! That is the face of an evil mini dinosaur who wants food and not a career in modelling.

Seriously don’t trust her shortly after this photo was taken she figured out she could just jump and eat the seeds spilling them everywhere.:

Next up Flo

Dora and Mabel have such strong personalities that sometimes Flo can be forgotten. But today we learnt that Flo was not going to be forgotten today. She ended up flying over the barrier we had made on the run and nearly had a head on moment with our cat. Weirdly Flo was the one who spent 20 mins looking at the door and couldn’t figure out how to leave the open dome/pen door and go into the run.

Now Dora! Dora is very shy. Unlike Mabel who will let you pet her if you have food and just give an indignant cluck  (she puts up with it). Dora will not be bribed by food. Dora is an independent woman who don’t need no food.

Irony is shortly after this was taken she decided that she didn’t want to go back into the pen and instead climbed on top of it and refused to get down for quite some while..

We can see a lot of shapes coming to the front. Also a lot of patterns especially dots? I like the white outline separating the characters from the background

The history of anime openings!

I watched a video on the history of anime openings and you can clearly see how the developments. The first few animes such as astroboy only had a few seconds long intro which seemed to serve more as a title card. But around the 1980s just as societys fashion and love of colour developed so did anime openings.

We can strongly see this with Urusei Yatsura. More graphics are beginning to be used, colours are more vibrant.

This continued with Ranma also by the same creator

Then to Sailor Moon intorducing over dramatic elements. Clouds, cherry blossoms etc

CHICKENS MOTHER FRICKING CHICKENS

MY mum has chickens now, its late, ANIME OPENING WITH FRICKING CHICKENS HA IDK I’M LEAViNG ANYWAYS LETS LEAVE WITH CHICKENS

I would like to clarify we are not eating the chickens they are for eggs only. We don’t eat family chickens just supermarket chickens except my dad he’s veggie.

この年は変ですね。。

一年前にこの状況全然思ませんでした。子供の時からいつも日本語を勉強したいと思いましたでもだんだん怖くなりました。それは無理かな、難しすぎる、日本語を勉強したら絶対仕事を見つかれませんと思いました。

でも頑張ります！日本語を勉強のが好きだから。

今の専門はけっこう楽しいや好きだけど私にとってビデオ編集の生活は本当にやりたいことじゃなかった。ただ大事な趣味です。もちろん好きです。暇にやります。

これからなんの将来になる知らないけど冒険したい。

What a strange year...

If I think back to a year ago I would’ve never imagined myself in this position.

Since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to continue my Japanese studies at university but the prospect became a scary idea. I absolutely love being creative and I chose this course with intent but over time it became clear that although I enjoy this as a hobby I feel more fulfilled keeping it as a hobby and focusing on language.

Also, I love adventures.

I will, of course, be continuing to use the motion graphics I learnt on this course in my free time as I do enjoy it.

I have no idea what the future holds now but bring it on!

Its been a lot of fun, I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’ve learnt a lot!
