{The illusion of skill} - its role in your overall Health & building your self confidence # If you are familiar with psychology and in particular nobel prize winning behavioural economist & psychologist Daniel Kahnemans book THINKING FAST & SLOW, you will understand that overconfidence based on the illusion of skill is very common and a very dangerous tool in Wall Street, business in general and in appointments of CEOs. # We tend to think of people in positions above us as amazing, intelligent, & the superstars of our world. However studies have shown that the uncontrollable factors of luck, chance and random occurrence have over 80% influence on a large companies performance, stock market prices, trading, investment banking etc. Height is also a factor, most CEO tend to be over 6ft and over half tend to be extroverted - with absolutely no scientific statistic to back up their ability or performance over introverted or shorter people. # He carried out a study that proved the correlation of TOP performing bankers against their bonuses over an 8 year period and ended up with a score of 0.01 ( which is in fact a score of zero) - so in all honesty we have a stock market that is a gambling ring. We have more chance of making money if we are the bin man buying and selling on a 50/50 chance principle. # Warren buffet is perceived to be a genius in trading, but one of the biggest factors of his wealth is that because he is so wealthy when his firm invests the confidence of the market goes up and stock performs better than normal - because surely it's going to do well - it's Warren Buffet. However what this does to our minds is that we think we have control or "know" what's going to happen. When we don't. We then start to take larger risks and multiply this by thousands of people, we have a reason as to why capitalism breaks and fixes itself over and over again. # However this is not to say people in senior positions are idiots either. Point is, you can now use this information to look across the table at someone, as opposed to looking up at them. You're great. You're important and worthy. Decision making How to deal with bad days ? # Bad days are only bad if you perceive them as bad. We must align our own thinking into the bigger picture of life in general. Will we die by eating one bad meal? No. # Will we die if we miss a training session? No. In fact I say he who criticises himself for missing sessions or eating a "bad" meal is not a healthy person. # Whilst exercise, eating right is absolutely paramount for happiness, mood, sleep and promoting personal development & positive psychology. We need to be mindful of how we make decisions, when we make decisions and why we make them. It is an on going learning process. # These are my tips: 1: Write down your long term goals. Both personal and professional. . 2: re- assess what you have written. Ask yourself why you have chosen those goals. Identity the variables and reasons why. Remove the ego. This is how we become more objective and rational. . 3: Be honest with yourself. Write down the insecurities, write down your bad habits. . 4: Write down your good habits, positive characteristics, position in life and compare the two lists. Things aren't so bad. . 5: Do not dwell. Self critical thoughts and perfectionism are delusions. They don't exist. They are unproductive. . 6: Ask yourself and write down what you loved as a kid. Then go and bring those memories back to life. . . . Processing thoughts and becoming self aware is a huge part of becoming health and building exercise programmes from it. We think we know who we are. But really we change everyday and become products of external and internal influences. (FREEDOM EATING) - Freedom eating is a manipulative educational technique I have been using for my nutrition to help manage my macro intake whilst ensuring minimal stress and impact to my daily life. # Life has much more to offer than slaving over a cooker. Whilst I acknowledge the benefit of being organised. I value education and understanding food, nutrients, calorie intake and well balanced nutritional decisions to be much more beneficial. # Freedom eating is a long term eating strategy whereby I will state a goal, target calorie intake per day/ per week which changes according to my weight. From this you will be able to workout how much of each food group you can eat per day. You can track each meal as you eat during the day, without preparation. # Eat on the go, and when you start to notice the macros add up during the day, adapt meals as you go. Simple. # . If for example you know you have eating 100g of carbs by lunch and your daily target is 100g. Well then you know that each meal going forward will be protein and fat based. It will help educate you on the macro/ calorie intake of particular foods & how to be a bit more creative with food. # If we want to create an influenced Healthy Society, then we need to educate people, build environment where people can think for themselves. Do you struggle with confidence or mental health? # Did you know carrying too much fat causes inflammation in the body. # Inflammation is heavily linked to poor cognitive function and mental health diseases. # Follows these tips for a better fat burning environment. 1. High intensity, interval, muscle building cardio exercise regime 2. "Manipulate" carbohydrate intake 3. Drink lots of water 4. Create a small calorie deficit from your base metabolic rate of the number of calories you need to maintain weight & gradually reduce week on week ( depending on weight loss) 5. Eat more protein, it has a thermogenic effect when it is ingested the body (amongst other benefits) 6. Get a deep, productive sleep 7. Create your vision. 8. Live your vision, one step at a time. 9. "It's all in the hips" they said. Hip flexibility will improve our squat depth dramatically. Especially those with longer limbs. The idea that we now live with minimal hip flexibility is saddening, as it was once a fundamental aspect of human behaviour. The squat position was once used for picking berries. . #. Now it is a trend for young people. It's almost got a cult following if you are aren't working your glutes (especially as a Girl)) then you are somehow failing as a gym goer. #. Unfortunately the squat has lost its "why," which is essentially to help create better posture for carrying out basic daily needs. It helps with minimising risk on the lower back (if performed correctly). As many of us now spend hours sitting at a desk or in a car. #. The squat can help with overall body alignment, as we get older are spines begin to round slightly, and we can become frail & prisoners within our own bodies. #. So yes it is all in the hips. Increase flexibility in the hips, move better, squat better and live in a more meaningful healthier way & it'll help maintain mobility in later life, so we can spend time with your children or grandchildren outdoors. Time spent in nature playing with friends was once such a term only associated with children. I can now say that I am determined to play more in nature as part of my fitness & self development program. Nature allows us to move. It allows us to let our minds run free. It allows our thoughts so shoot out across the sea into the abyss with no limitations. I try to practice being #healthy in all it's forms.
