Everyone is always claiming to love Sirius Black but then the only thing they can talk about is his love life. The love life of a character who has pretty much no development in that aspect. The main information you have is that he wasn't interested in a relationship.
Do you even like Sirius?

Hi, Do you thing hate towards Joe is justified? I am huge fan of taylor but i am very confused by some fans' vitrol towards him?
I've been a fan of Taylor for a decade and it's always like that with her ex-boyfriends, it's insane. Besides the fact that this album confirmed he didn't do anything wrong, the relationship just reached its end, but even if he did something that wouldn't be an excuse. It always makes me so embarrassed to be part of the fandom when people do that.
Personally, I don't find Travis Kelce likeable, not even a little bit, but that doesn't make me feel justified in insulting him, sending him death threats and so on.
I follow Taylor for her music, and sure I have a level of affection for her, I grew up with her as an older sister in a way but I don't actually know what goes on in her life, I don't actually know her.
And also honestly, she is not exactly a saint, as she herself admits anyway.

Hi, What are your thoughts on the new Album of Taylor?
I really really like it but 31 songs is too much, it's overwhelming.
Some of those could've not been published. Not because they are bad songs, at this point in her career I don't even know if she can do bad songs. But I think part of the job of writing or creating in general is to give up the unnecessary things to let the finished work reach its full potential, it's like pruning a tree.
At this point she can do whatever she wants so I think she just publishes all the songs she writes instead of using them as a pool to choose from and I don't know if that's something I agree with. Though I guess having a billion songs fits the theme of the tortured poet.
That said, the album is great and there are a bunch of songs I'm already in love with, but because they are 31 I'll probably need at least a couple of months to fully digest them.

Do you love james potter? And why?
Ah, James, my boy.
As I said before, my original focus in this fandom was the marauders and my favourite character by far was James. He is a character that stepped into my life at the right time, there were a lot of personal reasons why he was very appealing to 15-year-old me, but I also think he is objectively an interesting character.
He has a very little (but important) role in the books he was created for and yet manages to have a fascinating character arc and a sincere complexity, something that characters far more present in the story than he is don't succeed at.
He is spoiled, arrogant, and a bit of a bully but he is also good at his core and brave and loyal to death. He surrounds himself with these messed-up people because he genuinely loves them even if he is so incredibly privileged from any point of view that he really has no reason to fill his life with all these problems of other people.
The dynamics he is part of also seem all so interesting: the ones with his friends, the one with Lily, and even the one with Snape. And all these other characters are interesting in their own right (even Lily who's characterisation suffers a bit due to the necessities brought by her role in Harry's story).
James offers a good opportunity to explore a story about someone who is not an underdog and is actually beloved and incredibly competent at what he does but still has this difficult emotional journey in front of him. It's a great challenge because you can't make him sympathetic through pity.
And despite James becoming better he still has his feud with Snape which I've always found a very honest creative choice. He becomes a better, objectively good person, not a saint.
I've also always been a bit in love with that piece Rowling wrote about James and Sirius. There's no easier way to make me fall for a character than making them a good mix of funny, arrogant and clever.
The Marauders to me are just as incredibly interesting as the romance of Harry's parents and with James being at the centre of it all with his imperfect good heart, how could I not love him?

Could you recommend us some of your favorite hinny fics? Love your work btw!
Thank you <3
I would tell you to look at my bookmarks on Ao3 but I'll give you some highlights (I'll keep wips out of this because I never know how to feel about recommending unfinished work):
Gone was any trace of you -- I'm pretty sure I've read this something like a billion times, I can quote it word by word
Come stay for the summer -- this is always such a light fun work to re-read, I'm a big fan of muggle hinny, I really have a soft spot for it
Altered -- the obsession I have for this one-shot, this to me is hinny in its purest form
A Weasley reunion -- some hardcore pining from Harry, and fake dating, what do you want more from life?
Time -- Harry realising he wants children, with Ginny. The specific way in which the realisation is written is something I adore
Summer rain -- this is great, what else there is to say really, it's just great
Sacred new beginnings -- I love how this somehow manages to be a retelling of sixth year despite being a muggle AU with young adults hinny
Orchards -- the author definitely has a higher opinion of the "golden trio" than I have but the way she writes dialogues between Harry and Ginny is perfect, she also does a thing I love which is to make Ginny actually funny. It's one of her main personality traits and yet it's forgotten so often, I think it happens due to some sort of unconscious bias about women not being funny (not native English speakers writers are forgiven though because being funny in a foreign language can be quite hard)
After the leaves have fallen -- this talks about what I call Harry and Ginny's never-ending argument and it's written so beautifully
Everything I am is yours -- I just noticed that on ao3 it's signed as the first chapter of two but it definitely can stand on its own and is a very well done muggle retelling of Harry and Ginny's story
take what I took and give it back to you -- a beautifully written soulmates marks au that doesn't really change Harry and Ginny's story but, as one of the comments says, seems to bring up an existing implied element of the canon one
Already here -- because Hannah's stories that I love the most (they are all great though) are wips, I'll put this one in the hopes that one day she'll decide to turn it into a multi-chapter story (@takearisk-ao3 think about it 👀)
The brilliant dance -- this is so fucking funny and entertaining while also being heartwarming. Fucked up but inevitable/obsessed with each other hinny spending their early 20s being a hot mess is my AU drug
Someone else's life -- finished reading this a few days ago, a very well developed brilliant idea
[I already know the second I post this I'll realise I've forgotten some brilliant work]

Hey
How are you?
Just wanted to say that I love your metas and analyses... They are so different and so insightful ❤
Have you ever considered writing a fic about Ginny's seventh year (the year after the war)?
Hey! I'm well, very busy. I'm glad you like my metas <3
As for the seventh-year fanfiction: I don't think I'll ever put myself through writing a multichaptered fanfiction. It would require a level of time investment that I can't give to fanfiction. Also, the idea of writing chapter by chapter is not really a possibility for me, I would need to write it all before and then start to publish it. What might eventually happen is that I could publish a couple of one-shots about that year but I would need first to have a huge amount of notes and a precise timeline of both the year of the war and the year after.

What is your opinion in the dobnny saga?
I find the whole thing incredibly fascinating, I'm very invested. I really want to see if @takearisk-ao3 manages to find out who this person is. I'm kind of hoping it's some sort of relatively big account that no one would ever suspect but regardless I just really want to know who it is.
I mean... it must be a hinny shipper, right? So there's a good chance I know whoever hides behind the dobnny account.
This whole story is both slighly disturbing and incredibly funny.
@dobnny just tell me who you are in private, I promise I won't tell anyone

The thing is,
You can see HBP from Ginny's pov as the emotionally excruciating process of dealing with coming to terms with still having feelings for Harry, feelings that are now reciprocated after years of pining, mixed with an intense sense of guilt over poor Dean's unfortunate position in the whole mess...
OR
(and this is a lot more fun)
You can see it as Ginny being in the middle of one of those classic teenage tv series love triangles. On one side there's the good guy, the reasonable choice, the one no fan if not a couple of delusional ones is rooting for because he is kind of boring. And on the other side, you have the fan favourite, the dark brooding guy with light eyes who would let the world burn to save the girl. Rationally he is kind of a terrible choice but the girl is obviously in love with him and, let's face it: there wasn't really any competition to begin with.

My personal dream for Tumblr is a version of blocking where you can't see any posts of the person you block but they can still see yours. Like, I don't care if you see my posts, I just really really don't want to see yours

Can people stop taking advantage of the fact that a bunch of HP fans haven't read the books in a long time?
There's something so pathetic about making posts that are full of decontextualised canon scenes or that conveniently edit out canon scenes or even invent scenes that are not canon trying to convince people they are.

I personally don't like Daria Sidorchuk as a face-claim for Ginny because in the entire series, Harry never once describes Ginny as having freckles on her face. And he mentions freckles on pretty much everyone else. He describes her in detail too but doesn't mention her having freckles. He even mentions Cho's freckles! Also in OotP, the portrait thought Ron had spattergroit because of his freckly face. Ginny was right there too, no one thought she also had the disease. Ginny may have freckles on her body, but I don't think she has freckles on her face.
The matter of Ginny and freckles is an interesting one.
The thing is this: it's established that freckles are a Weasley trait so for Ginny to not have freckles it should've been explicitly stated that she was the only one without.
But why are they never mentioned?
Freckles are clearly not a defining trait of Ginny's face and I would imagine she must not have many in general. This is because she is meant to be extremely good-looking in a very conventional way. Regardless of anyone's personal opinion on freckles, many freckles don't represent a trait of conventional beauty and they especially didn't in the 90s.
It is also implied through Harry's descriptions of Ginny (particularly the ones of the last three books) and the thing about even Zabini with his high standards finding Ginny attractive, that she has a very elegant timeless type of beauty, a face full of freckles doesn't fit that description.
The physical traits of Ginny that seem more defining are her eyes, her lips/smile, her hair, her height, and the elegance of her movements. Of course, while we know everyone does agree with Harry on her beauty, for the specific noticeable traits is important to take into consideration that Harry's descriptions of Ginny don't shine for objectivity (contrary to the descriptions of all the other characters) which is also why it was so important for her characterization to clearly establish in the sixth book that she was actually that beautiful and not just according to Harry.

A plot twist I could have never predicted is jegulus shippers using hinny as an argument to establish the validity of their ship.
It's such a weird phenomenon from so many points of view I don't even know where to start.

This has been stuck in my head lately, but “love is embarrassing” by Olivia Rodrigo is such a Ginny song but like, a post-convo-with-hermione Ginny looking back and being like “God yes I’ll start speaking in front of him I guess”
I love your metas/commentaries so I wanted to hear your thoughts on that! I always see folks commenting on Taylor’s song for hinny (as they should because stuff like Sweet Nothing, The Great War, and Daylight are so hinny-coded, and even right where you left me if you are in a hurt/comfort mood), but I think Olivia is a genius in the way she captures teenage angst/cringe, which I always thought Ginny experienced quite a bit.
First of all, I completely agree with Olivia being a genius at capturing teenage angst.
That said, one of the very interesting things about Ginny is that she is a romantic at heart (it's such an essential part of who she is). And I don't mean just romantic in the sense of someone who loves romance, romantic in the sense she sees life through a certain poetic lens. And yet, it's clear that for a few years there she didn't have a particularly high opinion of her feelings for Harry (saying that Harry didn't notice her is mostly false, Ginny didn't allow Harry to notice her because she often stayed away from him, when she is in the room Harry always notices her). Ginny hates being perceived as vulnerable/weak and so of course the huge impact her feelings for Harry have on her behaviour when she is younger brings up an amount of self-loathing that only makes her become more embarrassed. This is also why Ginny admitting in the break-up scene she never really gave up on Harry is such a huge thing, an incredible show of trust.
All of this to say: I absolutely agree with you, Ginny Weasley totally had a "love is stupid" phase.

People seriously need to stop saying male characters in Harry Potter are better written than the female ones otherwise I'll be forced to explain in detail all the terrible writing mistakes made with the male characters and I'm really not in the right mood to deal with death threats.
