Just thinking about the fact that when Newt said “It’s different with me though, you now it is.” It was his ways of confessing, because he knew he was dying, and that was most likely the closest he would get to admitting his feelings.

Guys. In Scorch Trials when Newt tells Thomas "We can't give up. YOU can't give up. I won't let you." This was when he already had the Flare, but he couldn't bring himself to tell him. Newt knew his days were already numbered, and he knew Thomas had to protect the other's, even when Newt was gone.
