Navi Nguyễn is a self-taught Vietnamese artist and his artworks reflect strong allegory in presentation of surreal cubism, op art and fauvism. His themes illustrate emotions, and some are subjective as well, especially cats and tigers. He got invited in to participate at confusing power grid, a joint exhibition with other Asian artists curated by Keita Ando (IG @_keita_ando_) in January 2021.

Aside from doing artworks, he also writes articles at iDesign.vn, reviewing Japanese artists and styles, and providing good analysis on how it influenced modern artists with their works.

This will be Navi’s first solo exhibition here in Vietnam.

Words for the Exhibition from the Artist:

In many Asian cultures, the tiger represents power and braveness, a strong animal. It has become an icon in our folklore, poem, literature, and music for a long time. People always told us to find the tiger inside that can help us face difficulties. But I think that we already have our own tiger in each of us, we just don’t know how to call it out. With “Tiger Inside,” I want to portray the tiger that lives inside of me, neither perfect nor beautiful.

Knot Dot (Chau Lichi): Started in 2021 from Saigon, Vietnam. Knot Dot is a thirsty-face, who usually whisks eggs with a pool stick lately. Chau is experimenting with the vicious interactions between the discontinuous regions of the human mixture and nature through the merging of visual art and sound, swapping memories by performance, film, digital video, and music.

Nuvali Sta. Rosa Philippines - Sorta Photography

While exploring the place, I took a shot of the rocks at the man-made lakeside.

While exploring the place, I saw some big reed grass at the man-made lakeside and took a shot. I took like 5 - 10 shots b'coz it's windy and I'm against the light... >_<

While waiting for the sunset, we found this poor dead tree. I found the tree very disturbing since the place's motto is "to coexist with humans and nature", but the tree was, oh well. But even thought I find it disturbing, I can't resist to take a shot in Monochrome.

Too bad the sunset didn't came the way we wanted to, so we did some Nighttime shots instead. I really love the reflection of the light at the water. I got the feeling I'll be back at Nuvali by next week (hopefully).

Fanart and Tribute: Chiyoko Fujiwara from Millennium Actress, story written and directed by Satoshi Kon Description: August 25, 2010. A Fanart and Tribute for Satoshi Kon. She is Chiyoko Fujiwara, one of the main characters from Millenium Actress. I love this film especially the story's twist. Satoshi Kon died last August 24, 2010 b'coz of Pancreatic Cancer. The sad part is his death came less than two months before his 47th birthday... Still too young... Thank you for the inspiration, goodbye, and rest in peace Kon Satoshi... インスピレーションは、別れの場合に感謝し、平和コン聡の残り... I miss you dearly, but what can I do?

I sensed and knew my loss, Those days together with you won't come back anymore...

I want to end my life, just want to die, as the pain already killing me inside.

But you told me before to stay alive, with that bloody hands, to live my life to the fullest.

But how should I do that? What should I do now?

I'm so weak and tired of mourning.
