From the author:
Hey! I just wanted to give a small update on a few things. One, I'm still writing Home of The Lost. I'm working on many wips for myself and also to share. Two, I also have personal things happening in my life that are keeping me busy. A lot of it is good but it has kept me away from my computer lol. The last thing is I'm changing my nickname. It's Sky now. So, I'll put Sky next to things that are by the author instead of the Oracle. That's all. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Make Me Write tag game
Rules: Make a 24hr poll listing the titles of every WIP you want to work on. (It’s fine if you only have one, still, make a poll for the vote count). Whichever WIP title gets the most votes, write 1 sentence for every vote received.
First off thank you @the-stray-storyteller for the tag. Second is it wrong if I beg for people to choose Home of the Lost? Pixie and the Dryad work too? I did need this, I might be procrastinating. -Emi

Happy WBW! What's the harshest part of your world? Be it a place, a law, something character-created or otherwise, what is just HARSH?
Happy WBW to you as well! That is an excellent question mortal.
The harshest thing I've seen is the hierarchy of species and what it can do. Gena Kingdom is the most accepting of species but it isn't without its faults. Gossip and rumors are all anyone knows about Gena. Since Queen Emblem came into power, she's tried to reach out to other kingdoms to change how they view us. However, so many of us are worried about the discrimination that comes from opening up the kingdom's walls. Even within our walls, people face hate for misconceptions and miscommunication on gossip sites. Anyone with a large amount of money can get whatever they want published in the papers. Even if that thing is harmful, untrue, and damaging. Rumors spread like wildfires here.
In Rosestorm and other places, the witches go through so many problems. The witch wars lasted years and yet even though witches won, there are so many creatures who believe the witch magic is useless. The Hollow barely lets another species in its walls because of it. They just want to be recognized for the work they do and not treated like children or servants. Their magic is seen as pitful and tragic. They are seen as the weakest magic users. At one point a bunch of witches believed the mortal realm might give them solace. Witches now tell horror stories of what happened in the mortal realm. The council that was put in place to help prevent them from being overlooked hasn't done anything. They placed a witch in their group but refuse to acknowledge her skills or arguments. They turn a blind eye to the discrimination of witches and other magic users.
Amore worships angels too much. They turn on anyone who isn't like them and it causes many problems. Demons are treated like playthings or monsters. Cat folk are seen as pets without autonomy. Humanoids are seen as freaks. Shapeshifters are called thieves and dangerous. The royal family does nothing to stop what happens and if anything, encourages it. They pretend to keep these groups close yet do nothing to stop the hate. The royal family refuses to acknowledge their own messed up past and fucked up system.
Aufero Fabula like me are all seen as dangerous. Despite the fact we can't help if we see a memory. We can't control whose memory we see nor when we see a memory. We are not all the same as well. Our powers vary depending on the person but, there are no books on these powers. People fear us despite the fact we were hunted for our eyes for years. Despite the fact, we've gotten used to hiding and running. Some of us don't know if we have any family left. Some of us are dangerous and should be locked up, I admit that. But so many of us are just trying to survive. Most of us keep to ourselves and keep out of trouble. Still, we're seen as criminals for existing. I'm not even sure how many of us are left.
Don't even get me started on changelings. I'm sorry for going on a long rant. I suppose it still hurts me how nothing seems to be happening to fix these problems. I hope I've answered your question well enough. I hope you have a good day today, mortal. Please do not be afraid to be yourself and take pride in who you are.
-The Oracle

Home of the Lost; Chapter Three; Tense Situations
(Chapter 3 has been finished. I wrote it then lost all of it, so here is the rewrite. Word count is 2,899. Tw: Zombies, cussing, talk about killing, spiraling. I hope you enjoy!)
Six years. The apocalypse started on January 15th. Did Emil have Elizabeth before it started? Did he have a partner and that's why they're going to Yellowstone? Did someone abandon a not even one-year-old baby? How did he take care of a baby in the apocalypse? A thousand thoughts go through Julian's head. It must be obvious on his face how Emil barks a laugh.
“Before you ask a million questions,” Emil says with a playful look daring Julian to disagree. “I found Liz the day before the apocalypse.” Julian lets out a small gasp and Emil ignores it. “I had friends to help me take care of her until she was old enough to travel. Then, we took off,” Emil lets out a self-deprecating laugh. “I wonder if she'll grow up to hate me for it.” Julian's heart clenches at the sad look on the man's face. He gently grabs Emil's face and looks him right in the eyes. “Emil, you're a wonderful father,” Julian is practically pleading but, he wants Emil to understand how much he means to Elizabeth. To him.
Emil seems to understand for now and gently bats Julian's hands away. “Yeah, sure,” He says with a slight blush. “You too.” Julian smiles at that. Deciding that was enough heavy topics for the night, Julian asks about Emil's favorite color. Emil lightly smacks him for the cliche question but, if Emil is always smiling and laughing brightly, Julian can't bring himself to care. He wants to make the brown-haired man happy all the time.
They talk about little things and life that no longer exists. Julian's eyes begin to droop and they call it a night. They head back to find the defenses undisturbed. It makes both of them relieved. They enter the room and barricade the door once inside. For extra protection, Emil had reasoned. Julian was too tired to argue or agree. He simply did as told so he could go to bed. Once everything's set up, he lays down next to Soul and smiles fondly at the teen's peaceful sleeping face. Julian drifts to sleep soon after.
The next morning he is woken up by a hyper kid and a semi-hyper teen chasing him. Emil stands off to the side packing things up. Julian sits up slowly trying to remember all that has happened. He rubs his eyes as the memories come back. His stomach growls and he tries to recall if he ate dinner. He comes up empty. When he finally coaxes his eyes open, he notices some jerky, fruit, and a protein bar next to him. Emil's airy chuckle startles him and he finds the man closer to him. Julian swears his heart skips a beat.
“Figured you needed some extra,” Emil explains as Julian stares at the food. He takes the jerky and starts eating it. Once his thoughts are more aware he decides to chat with Emil. “How long was I asleep?” Emil hums before responding. “Not too long. Besides we did stay up late,” That gives Julian pause. “How come you're awake then?”
“The kids, and I'm just used to staying up.”
”What do you mean?“
”Oh, you know, different experiences.“
”Now, what's that supposed to mean?!“
Emil gives Julian a look that makes the auburn man shut up. As much as Julian wanted to disagree, Emil was correct in the fact Julian wasn't used to staying up late. Luckily for both of them, the kids interrupt. Elizabeth barrels into Emil's arms and the older man doesn't so much as flinch. He takes it in stride and adjusts with no problem. It hits Julian at once.
Why wasn't he as close to Soul like them? Soul had only been 'his kid' for two years. Of course, they wouldn't know everything about each other. Julian will never know the person Soul was before the accident. Never know who Soul was when he was as young as Elizabeth. Never know what he liked when he was younger than he is now. He would never have the same relationship that Emil and Elizabeth have with Soul. Hell, it took Soul forever to even call him Jules. Julian's heart clenches at the idea of Soul hating or finding him overbearing. Was he overbearing? Was he pushing too hard?
As if he can tell Julian is spiraling, Soul places a hand on the older man's shoulder. “So,” The teen starts bringing Julian back to the present. “Are we sticking together?” Julian is torn between being annoyed or proud about how smart Soul is. “Yes, we're all traveling together,” He says instead with a small sigh. Emil gives him a pitying look. Elizabeth looks ecstatic. “Yay, Robin and I get to hang out more!” The little girl practically bounces up and down as she speaks. Julian finds it adorable but her sentence gives him pause.
”Robin?” Emil asks before he can. Elizabeth nods rapidly. She points at Soul who is staring intently at the ground now. “Robin.” Julian and Emil look at each as they try to process why Elizabeth would call Soul that. Emil seems to understand first, Julian following shortly after. They both dissolve into laughter. The was no way, right?
”Honeybee, do you call him Robin because he can lift you up?” Emil says when they finally catch their breaths. “And that his hair is red?” Julian adds, throwing a pitying glance at the clearly embarrassed teen. Elizabeth nods, clearly confused by the adult's reactions. “Robin can make me fly and he has red feathers,” She as if it's common knowledge. Julian has to take a few deep breaths to keep himself from laughing again. Emil looks away and stares at a wall, probably trying to laugh either. Soul pouts at the two of them and moves in front of Elizabeth. ”So what if I'm Robin,” The redhead says with confidence. “Elizabeth is a buzzing little bee.” He tickles the girl as he says the words. The little girl squeals and fails making Emil try and doge his daughter's punches. Laughter bubbles out of Julian and he looks at the scene fondly. They look happy and relaxed. Like nothing could ever break up such a wonderful family. Oh, they felt like a family. So soon? Julian is almost amazed by his ability to fall for someone so quickly. As he gets lost in his thoughts, Soul attacks him and the whole moment becomes a tickle fight.
When they finally catch their breaths, they start on their journey. They all fall into a routine of sticking to hidden paths and looting places they can. Emil loots with such ease, it makes Julian's head spin. Julian tries to help where he can. The kids stay close and play games together quietly. Among their looting, they find some tents and start camping in heavily wooded when they can. “For safety,” Emil had explained when Soul asked why. Emil talks with Julian more and looks at ease around the other man. It makes Julian's crush worsen and it gets harder not to just blurt it out. However, Julian doesn't think he could handle Emil hating him. For now, he keeps quiet. Especially, since they're only halfway through their journey.
”Earth to Julian? You with me?” Emil's voice brings Julian out of his thoughts. “I'm here, Chestnut,” Julian says with a wave of his hand. Emil doesn't catch fall for his bluff. “Uh, huh,” Emil crosses his arms as he speaks. “What were we talking about?” Julian tries to rack his brain for answers but comes up empty. “Uh, We were,” Julian is saved by Soul calling his name. “Oh, well, the kids are calling.” He sends an apologetic look to Emil before fast walking to the kids. He hears Emil scoff behind him but, it almost sounds fond. Sure he imagined it, Julian makes it to the kids. “What's up, kid?” He says as he notices the uncertainty on Soul's face.
Soul doesn't say anything. Instead, he points to something on the open road. Julian grabs Soul's shoulder and squeezes it gently. Emil comes up by that point. He sucks in a breath when he sees what they're looking at. Two black horses carry a trailer with a brown horse leading them. Julian counts four people visible. A large rifle sits on the back of the brown horse's rider. “Hunters,” Emil practically whispers, confirming Julian's worst fear.
When the apocalypse started a lot of people were under three categories. Alone, Neighbors, or Hunters. Alone are groups who don't take orders from others. People who stay close to only a few people. Their little group was counted under Alone at the moment. Neighbors are communities that blocked off streets and lived in false normality. These people are very cautious about who they let in. Hunters are people who have no qualms about killing others for supplies. They only care for the people within their group and no one else. Julian had heard rumors of a Hunter gang that didn't kill unless they had to. He doesn't believe it. All Hunter groups are cruel and it's rare for anyone to escape their grasp. Julian and Soul are some of the lucky ones.
Julian holds onto Soul while Elizabeth hides halfway behind the teen. Emil stands to the side of them, a bit more forward. Julian prays that they go by without noticing them. Unfortunately, they don't have such luck and the brown horse's rider notices them. The man grins and suddenly the group is stopping in front of them. Julian feels himself tense as the black-haired man dismounts his horse. “My, my, my, what do we have here?” He says as he approaches where they stand. Emil blocks him from getting too close to them. “Just passing through,” Julian says through clenched teeth. The man looks him up and down before scoffing. He turns his attention back on Emil, making Julian's blood boil. Emil takes it with grace. “We're heading to a town near the park. Want to show the kids the geyser,” He lies and Julian's anxiety eases just a little. The man looks unimpressed and makes a show of checking out Emil. The other group members look annoyed at the man and one tries to speak before closing her mouth without a sound.
”Come on, angel,” The man gets closer to Emil as he speaks and it takes everything in Julian not to get between them. “I thought we were close enough to tell each other things?” Emil huffs at the statement and glares at the man. “I wish to remind you that you're my ex then, Troy,” Julian mind swirls with what Emil says. They were dating? Emil dated a Hunter? Why? Did he not know Troy was a Hunter? Troy's unnerving smirk drops. “You're still on about that, angel?” Troy's voice is devoid of emotion yet Emil doesn't flinch. “Of course, I am,” Emil says keeping eye contact. Troy doesn't say anything and mounts his horse. He leaves without checking if the rest of the group follows him. The girl who almost spoke earlier, speaks now.
”Em, you know the rest of us wish you nothing but happiness,” Her voice is soft yet loud and Emil seems to relax at the sound of it. “Yeah, I know,” The man says with a small smile. “Thanks, Arely. Tell Topher I miss him for me.” Arely nods and says goodbye. Elizabeth comes out from behind Soul and gives a shy wave to the brunette. Arely returns it with a grin and the rest of the group leaves. Julian feels the adrenaline rushes out of him as soon as they're out of sight. “Let's set up camp soon,” Emil suggests and Julian doesn't have the energy to do anything but nod. The walk to a suitable campsite is silent and Julian is grateful for it.
Soul and Elizabeth head off to bed right after dinner. Julian wonders if it was planned or simply due to all the tense emotions. Emil helps clean up and Julian notices he's not as tense as before. He's even humming as he packs things away. Julian can feel his thoughts start to spiral again. How could anyone be so calm? Why does he look so relaxed? I thought I knew him. That thought makes the world freeze around him. How well could he possibly know Emil? They've only known each for about a month. He fell too quickly again. He made the same mistake again. This was a mistake. He should have told Emil no when he suggested traveling together. This is all his own fault. He has to keep Soul safe this time.
”Julian?” Emil's voice breaks his thoughts. He looks at the man and swallows thickly. “You and Troy?” The question sounds more like a statement even to Julian's ears. Emil doesn't pay it any mind. “I'm so sorry you had to witness that,” Emil covers his face and groans. “We had a rough break up.” Julian nods and part of him wants to ask more. “Arely and Topher?” He says instead and Emil looks at him with confusion. “I don't follow? They're my friends. My best friends even,” Emil says and a fond smile crosses his face. Julian feels bile rise in his throat at the sight of it. “Even though they're hunters?” He's stopped looking at Emil at this point. He can't stand the way his heart feels like it's breaking. Emil scoffs at the question. “Them being Hunters doesn't mean anything,” He sounds defensive and Julian feels numb. “Plus, it would be hypocritical of me.” That one sentence shatters Julian's heart. No. Never again. He won't let him near again. He won't her ever get hurt again.
Emil notices Julian's change in attitude, giving him a questioning look. Julian doesn't say anything and Emil seemingly lets it go. They finish the clean-up and head to bed. The rest of the trip is tense, to say the least. Emil tries to talk with Julian only to be greeted with nothing. Soul and Elizabeth seem to not notice anything. They all stay close to each but feel so far away. As they reach the town of Cody, Elizabeth grabs Julian's arm and drags him away from the other two. It sends Julian's mind into a panic but, he tries to play it cool. He follows Elizabeth into one of the Western-themed buildings.
“Why are you mad at Papa?” The question surprises Julian. He didn't think Elizabeth would have noticed. “I'm not mad at your Papa,” Julian says as he glances over shelves for anything useful. “Papa says it's not good to lie,” The little girl responds back. Julian sighs and when he looks at the girl, he knows he's not getting out of this. Elizabeth stands with her arms crossed and an unhappy frown on her face. She's a mirror of her father despite not sharing any blood. The thought wants to thaw Julian's hardend heart but, he shakes it away.
“Your Papa made me upset, that's all,” He hopes that the statement appeals to the little girl. Unfortunately for him, Elizabeth doesn't give up easily. “Why? What did he do?” She asks, making Julian sigh. “He hangs out with bad people, Elizabeth, that's what he did,” Julian wants to take his words back, fearful the girl might cry. Instead, she scoffs. “So,” She taps her foot clearly annoyed. “He did what he had to.” Julian blinks at that. “But, he's friends with them?” He says feeling awkward for some reason. “They've been friends forever. Papa tries to pretend he doesn't miss them but, I know he does,” Elizabeth looks at the ground while she speaks. Julian moves closer and reaches a hand out to comfort the girl. “I just want my papa happy,” Her voice is barely a whisper. Julian wraps his arms around her in a tight hug. Even if he doesn't understand Emil, it's better for the kids that they are at the very least good acquaintances.
He releases the girl after a few moments. Elizabeth smiles at him, hope clear in her eyes. Despite the girl's puffy eyes that Emil was sure to kill him for later, she looks happy. Julian feels a smile worm its way onto his own face. “Let's finish looking around,” He says, patting her head. Elizabeth giggles at the touch. “Are we going to get more stuff than them?” She asks, perking up at the idea of a competition. Julian grins in response. “For sure,” He says and Elizabeth takes off. He chuckles as the girl moves from shelf to shelf without really looking at them. He wonders for a brief moment if this was how Soul was when he was young. Shaking off the thoughts quickly, Julian follows the whirlwind of a kid around the shop.
As they gather supplies (Elizabeth pretending to look for a minute before giving up and Julian actually collecting things they need), Elizabeth talks about the adventures she's been on. Julian finds it adorable how she exaggerates everything. It takes him calling her Elizabeth a few times before she pouts at him. “What?” He asks as the little girl glares at him. “Call me Lizzy,” She says, before resuming her walk ahead of him. He sighs and shakes his head fondly. He hopes Emil and Soul are having a good time as well.
(A/n: Finally done. Time to go start chapter 4 and not lose it. The next chapter will be very heavy with understanding Emil and Julian better. I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day!)

Thoughts - The Pixie and The Dryad
19. “You're always with me”
(Tw: Swearing,)
Emi complains a lot. It's the truth and he wears it with honor most of the time. He once told Lexi it was because his filter is broken. Lexi said she didn't mind. So, Emi complains to Lexi about everything and anything that annoys him. In turn, Lexi never judges when he changes his mind or tells him he's wrong. Today was different. Lexi knew the moment the pixie walked in and didn't say a word.
“Pix?” The dryad can't help the concern seeping into their voice. Usually, Emi would start by telling Lexi about his day and then complaining about customers that annoyed him. Today, Emi walked in and starts the kettle without even looking at Lexi. The pixie stays silent as he reaches for the tea bags. “Emi,” He freezes at Lexi's tone. He slowly turns to the dryad, unable to meet their eyes. Lexi frowns and takes the box out of his hands. She envelops him in a hug and waits.
It doesn't take long for the pixie to crack. “It's nothing,” He tries only to be hugged tighter. “You do so much for me already,” He attempts with no luck. Emi sighs and wraps his arms around Lexi. “Am I too much?” He asks softly and it makes Lexi's heart clench. “No. Never,” Emi lets out a choked-out sob at the statement. ”I am! I complain way too much. I talk too much. Everything I say is wrong ad I'm very bitchy! You're always with me! You must hate me!” Emi rambles through tears. Lexi simply holds him tighter. “I could never hate you,” The dryad says, blinking away their own tears. It hurt that Emi would ever think of himself as too much. “You are wonderful and kind. I enjoy it when you talk to me and complain about things.” Emi sniffles at the words. “Emi,” Lexi looks the pixie in the eyes. “I hang out with you because you're my best friend and I enjoy spending time with you.“ Emi lets out another sob. Lexi holds and rubs his back soothingly.
They move to the living room couch after calming down. Emi is on Lexi's lap with his head on their shoulder. ”Want to tell me what happened?' Lexi asks after a few moments. Emi makes a noise of disapproval. It makes Lexi roll their eyes. ”You have to tell me eventually,“ The dryad teases. They both knew Lexi would let it go if Emi really didn't want to say. The pixie sighs and gives in. ”One of the new hires told me to shut up,“ Emi can feel Lexi tense up under him. He gives the dryad a look before continuing. “Mika told me she was being rude but, I guess it got to me. My thoughts spiraled and I thought maybe you hate me but, you're too nice to leave.” Lexi snorts at the idea. “Hon, I can name several people who would disagree,” She says with a dismissive wave. “Then they would be wrong,” Emi responds crossing his arms in fake annoyance.
“No, they would be right. I can be super mean.”
“Bullshit.”
“Pix, you are one of the only people who see nice Lexi.”
“Again, bullshit. You are the nicest-HEY!”
Emi gets cut off by Lexi picking him up. Lexi chuckles at the pixie's glare. “Am I so nice now?” The dryad says with a teasing grin. Emi huffs but struggles to keep the smile off his face. Lexi sits him down after a moment. “You are way too strong,“ Emi remarks. ”Thank you, I try,“ Lexi responds in kind, making a show of showing off their muscles. Emi grins and launches himself at the dryad. Lexi catches him with ease. ”Oh my,“ Lexi says dramatically falling onto the couch. “A pretty boy on top of me, whatever shall I do?” Emi lightly smacks their arm. Lexi just grins in response. They stay like that for hours, joking and talking to each other.
(A/n: The list has dialogue as well. I love writing about these two. They're very sweet and care a lot about each other. I hope you enjoy and have a peaceful day!)

Rainy Day - The Pixie and The Dryad
10. Snuggle together on a rainy day
Emi hums as he listens to the rain. He loves his job at Heart of Ink. He enjoys the people he meets and seeing the designs that people will have forever. He's just the receptionist but always feels welcomed when talking with the tattoo artists. That said, he loves not working on a rainy day. On days like this, his true passion comes out. Pages and pages of stories flow out. The rain offers comfort like a warm blanket as Emi writes. No one would ever see the stories and Emi was okay with that. He enjoys his rainy off days with his notebooks as company. Emi sighs and tries to focus on the rain. He's experiencing a small creative block and it's frustrating.
“Pix?” Lexi's voice comes as a welcome and surprise. The dryad walks in clearly wet from the rain. “What are you doing here?” Emi asks as he gets up to provide towels. Lexi shrugs and stays in place until Emi hands them several towels. She takes it with a soft smile. ”Was bored. Needed out of the house,“ Lexi drys off as she talks. It doesn't seem to help much. “You want to shower? I'll get you some fresh clothes,” Emi offers, deciding not to push about Lexi showing up. He learned early in their friendship that Lexi sometimes needed someone with them. Lexi can't stand being alone and sometimes it gets too much. This seems like one of those moments.
“A shower and fresh clothes sound divine,” Lexi responds to Emi. She heads into the bathroom while Emi goes to his room. He pulls out an old shirt and sweats from the second drawer. He doesn't remember when Lexi started leaving clothes at his place or when she got an official drawer. At this point, it would be weird not to have a plethora of Lexi's clothes in his house. In fact, Emi was ninety-five percent sure the shirt he has on was originally Lexi's. Deciding it doesn't matter, Emi grabs the clothes, along with undergarments, and leaves them on the toilet seat. He goes to the kitchen and decides to start making some tea.
The dryad comes in fresh clothes and a towel around her neck. Emi smiles at them and Lexi returns it albeit strained. It makes Emi confused and he raises an eyebrow. Lexi shakes their head and Emi decides to drop it. Lexi will talk to him when she's ready. “It's the lavender one you like,” Emi tells them as he stirs the tea. Lexi hums in contentment. Lexi watches what Emi does and they fall silent until Emi finishes making the tea.
Emi tries to hand a mug to Lexi only to find the dryad lost in thought. ”Tree?“ Emi says, in an attempt to reach the dryad. It seems to work as Lexi looks at him and then at the mug. This time she grabs the mug and follows the pixie into the living room. Emi sits on the carpeted floor and gestures to the space beside him. Lexi takes it, still deep in thought. “Sorry,” Lexi mutters holding the mug tightly. Emi looks at them in confusion. “What for?” Emi asks moving to sit facing Lexi. “For showing up unannounced and making you frustrated,” Lexi says looking everywhere but Emi. Emi huffs at the explanation. “I'm frustrated at trying to write something not at you,” He says, his tone leaving no room for argument. “You are always welcomed here, Lexi.” The dryad lets out a whimper at the sentence but gives Emi a shy smile. “Thanks,” Her voice is soft and Emi can only give a fond smile in response. They lapse into a comfortable silence.
Once their teas are finished, Emi attempts to stand up to return the mugs to the kitchen. Lexi stops him by tugging his sleeve. Emi watches as Lexi stands up, confused about why the other stopped him. The moment she's standing up and stable, Lexi scoops Emi up bridal style. Emi lets out a noise of surprise and quickly wraps his arms around Lexi's neck. ”What are you doing?“ He asks in clear confusion and shock as Lexi starts to walk. “It's snuggle time,” Lexi says with no other explanation as she heads to the bedroom. Emi doesn't get a chance to say anything more before he's thrown on the bed. Lexi lays next to him and wraps their arms around the pixie. Emi tries to protest but his voice is muffled. His eyes droop and he lets them close. Perhaps, a little nap wouldn't hurt, he thinks as he wraps his arms around Lexi. They fall asleep tangled together with rain falling in the background.
(A/n: I might have a list of prompts to do with these two. I had a plan then the plan got derailed. Still, this is sweet and comfortable. No long notes as I'm sleepy and probably need to go sleep. I hope you enjoyed and have a fantastical day!)

Helping - The Pixie and The Dryad
Emi groans as he flops onto his very comfortable couch. Usually, he would curl up and let the day's stress wash away. Unfortunately, the world had other plans. Another bang makes him jump. It just had to be Waterlog, the one holiday Emi disliked most. Waterlog was a national holiday in the country of Cleca celebrating the rebuilding of everything after the flood. Fireballs of all colors and parades are thrown in honor of coming back home. The problem was that silencers were made for the loud fireballs and people don't take them. Leaving Emi, who is sensitive to loud sounds, curled up in his apartment with a headache. 'Stupid tradition bullshit,' the pixie thinks, burying his head further into his couch when another bang comes.
Emi completely misses his apartment door opening. It isn't until he feels gentle hands rub his shoulders that he looks up. Lexi looks back with a small frown. “Too loud Pix?” The dryad asks never stopping her hands. Emi nods and attempts to move close to them. Lexi stops then and Emi can't help the whine that comes out of him. “I know, Pix,” Lexi says soothingly. “You need to drink some Heal, then we can head to bed and I'll give you a massage.“ Emi thinks about the offer for a bit. ”You promise?“ The pixie asks, slowly starting to sit up. Lexi hums and helps Emi the rest of the way up. Once he's sitting up, Lexi grabs a potion bottle with light pink liquid off the side table. She gives it to Emi who drinks it down the best he can.
”Yuck,“ Emi says when the bottles empty. Lexi chuckles at the reaction. ”Sorry Pix, I didn't get any other flavors,“ The dryad explains before picking the pixie up. Emi looks at Lexi in surprise but, quickly wraps his arms around the other's neck. Lexi smiles softly and brings them to the bedroom. She sets Emi down gently and kisses him on the forehead. In response, Emi sighs contently. The loud bangs are muted now and his head feels slightly better. Lexi sits down next to him and moves some of pixie's hair out of his face.
”Still want that massage?“ Emi's mind takes a second to process what Lexi says. He makes a discontented noise and grabs Lexi's hand. He places the hand on his head. Lexi seems to get the hint and starts rubbing gentle patterns on the pixie's temple. Emi relaxes, even more, his body feeling too heavy to move anymore. He lets his eyes droop and gives Lexi one last loopy smile before falling asleep.
Emi wakes up slightly confused. When did he move the bed? He gets up and heads to the bathroom to get ready for work. It takes him a while, his body and mind were still groggy from the potion. As he cleans up, the memories of Lexi helping him come back. He blushes and groans in slight embarrassment. It wasn’t like Lexi hadn’t seen him out of it before, it was more the fact she was stuck helping the pixie once again. Once dressed and ready, he moves to the living room where the smell of waffles greets him. He sees Lexi humming along to a song playing as she cooks. Emi's heart clenches and he tries to push off his guilt.
“Whatcha doing?” He sits at the kitchen's island as he asks. Lexi doesn't look at him, more focused on their cooking. “Waffles,” The dryad says with a playful smile. “Figured you needed something sweet.” Emi snorts at that. “I always need something sweet,” He responds with a teasing grin. Lexi hums in agreement and plates the last two waffles. They stay in peaceful silence as they set the table and sit down to eat. Emi immediately digs into his, while Lexi watches carefully.
“What's up?” Emi asks when realizing Lexi is staring. “You okay?” The question is loaded and both of them know it. Emi sighs and taps his fork against his plate. “I feel bad you’re stuck taking care of me again,” He explains knowing he can’t lie to the dryad. Lexi frowns at him. “I like taking care of you,” Emi looks at the dryad with doubt. “Still, you could have been spending time with family instead,” The pixie points out and it makes Lexi snort. “Pix,” Lexi's voice is soft but commanding. It shuts Emi up. “I'm not on good terms with my family,” The dryad says looking away as memories come over them. “But, there is no one else I'd rather spend time with than you.” Lexi's smile is genuine and it makes Emi want to tear up. He pushes the feeling away and smiles back shyly. “How about next year we see a parade?” He suggests and Lexi grins at the idea. “Sounds wonderful Pix,” She says as she stands up. “Now, get your butt to work.” Emi takes it as a sign a more in-depth conversation would take place later. Also, he was going to be late if stayed any longer. “Thank you, Tree,” The pixie says, giving Lexi a small kiss on the cheek and rushing out the door.
Lexi chuckles as the door closes. She picks up both their plates and brings them to the kitchen. As she washes them, she thinks about how happy she is to have met Emi. Even when they first met, the pixie had always intrigued them. She didn't know how to explain why she liked taking care of Emi. Not that she needed to explain, what they have works for them. Lexi will always be happy with that.
(A/n: Did I write this because the fireworks wouldn't let me sleep? Yes. Did I make a holiday that didn't exist before today just for this story? Also yes. Also, world-building in my stories? It's more likely than you think. All jokes aside, this was cute to write. Very wholesome and another day I'll write about their trip to the lake or seeing a parade. I hope you enjoyed and have a fantastical day!)

The First Date - The Pixie and The Dryad
”So,“ Lexi sets their bottle down on top of the small dining table and sits down. Emi looks at the dryad with concern. It makes Lexi want to laugh. ”Want to go on a date?“ Lexi says instead deciding to have mercy on the pixie. Emi blinks twice and stares at Lexi with a tilt of his head. “A date?” He says slowly and Lexi can't help but snort. “Yeah, a date. Platonic your type of date,” The dryad explains in the way of an explanation. Emi's confusion quickly becomes excitement. “I would love to go on a date then!” He says practically jumping up and down. Lexi shakes their head fondly. “Where to, Pix?“ Emi's smile grows at the nickname. ”Well,“ He bats his eyes innocently, making Lexi raise an eyebrow. ”There is that new cafe in town.“ Lexi snorts and stands up. ”Get your ass ready in two hours Pix,“ She says before moving to the bedroom to get themselves ready.
The two hours are warranted when it came to Emi. The pixie was still finishing his makeup when the two hours are up. ”Hey Pix, I'm tempted to leave without if you don't hurry up,“ Lexi jokes while leaning on against the front door. ”What kind of person leaves their date?“ Emi yells back finishing his mascara. ”The one whose 'date' takes forever,“ Lexi responds with air quotes even if the pixie can't see them. Truthfully, this was a more fancy hang-out than anything else. Both had already talked about how dates would go and such. Emi rolls his eyes at Lexi's teasing and walks into the living room. He grabs his purse and walks through the door Lexi now held open. After finally getting through the door, the two head off. They decide to walk as it's a nice day and an excuse to talk more.
”And she swears he did it. I didn't believe her for a second, of course,“ Emi says with an eye roll as they near their destination. Lexi had tuned out most of the story and was more focused on how relaxed the pixie looked. Emi wouldn't mind them not knowing what he was talking about. Another thing they talked about. Emi knew he could ramble forever and Lexi couldn't keep up most of the time. ”I just like having someone there, you know?“ Emi had explained once when asked why he didn't mind. Lexi took it with grace and it worked for them. ”Oh! There it is!“ Emi's voice reorientates Lexi back to their surroundings. The cafe is light pink with pastel blue accents. A woman stands in front wearing a lavender jacket handing out papers and talking to people.
As they approach the woman turns to them and smiles brightly. ”Hello!“ She greets them and the two smile back in response. ”We have a special for couples today! And you two are just adorable!“ It hits Lexi how they must look, holding hands and being content around each other. It doesn't make Lexi upset just a little uncomfortable. Emi, however, tenses and gives a fake smile.
Lexi knows they have a choice then. ”Sorry,“ She says as she wraps an arm around Emi. ”Just friends.“ Emi looks at them in surprise and thankfulness. ”Oh,“ The woman's bright smile drops and she looks at them bewildered. ”Why not?“ Lexi scoffs at the question. ”Not any of your business,“ She says, their tone harsher than she intended. ”My friend and I would just like to go in now.“ Mrs. Lavender Jacket nods rapidly and steps aside. Lexi guides the still-frozen Emi into the cafe and slides into the first free booth.
When they finally settle in, Emi takes a deep breath. ”Why,” His voice is soft and timid. “Why did you say that?” Lexi rests their elbows on the table and looks into Emi's eyes. “Because it's the truth,“ Lexi says like it's the simplest thing in the world. Emi gapes at her. ”But, we're on a date?“ He says, confusion clear in his voice. ”So? We're still friends,“ Lexi responds back. ”They're having a sale for couples.“ ”So?“ ”You could have taken advantage of it!“ ”How? I'm not here with a romantic partner.“ Emi scoffs in disbelief. Lexi takes the opportunity to hold the pixie's hand. “Emi,” Lexi says and Emi can feel his anxiety slipping away. “You don't want a romantic partner. I'm not going to ever force you to pretend to be one with me for some random woman or stupid sale.” Emi finally softly smiles at the words. “Thank you,” He says, squeezing Lexi's hand tightly. Lexi squeezes back just as tightly. The moment is interrupted by the waitress coming to take their order. Both scramble to decide what they want.
The food is good and the company is better. Emi orders a milkshake for dessert and it finally arrives. With two straws. Emi doesn't seem to pay attention and immediately dives into it making Lexi laugh. “What?” Emi asks playfully oblivious. “Nothing,” Lexi dismisses with a wave of their hand. “You just really love sweet stuff.” Emi nods and bounces slightly. Instead of responding, he goes back to his shake. The waitress comes back with the check and looks at Emi with slight confusion. ”My friend happens to adore shakes,“ Lexi says, shrugging their shoulders. The waitress nods hesitantly, clearly even more confused. She takes Lexi's card and scurries off. Emi is in a world of his own with his shake. Lexi hums a little as she waits for her card back.
Luckily, it doesn't take long and they two are on the way back home. Home was also known as Emi's apartment they both practically lived in. Lexi was at Emi's place more than their own. Emi talks about something surrounding Rosestorm, while Lexi zones out and focuses on their conjoined hands. She only zones back in when Emi lets out a happy sigh. ”Home sweet home,“ The pixie says and lets go of their hands to unlock the door. They walk through and once the door is shut, Emi is on Lexi. The date was amazing and after the date even better. Lexi couldn't wait for more.
(A/n: Plantonic date! Correcting people who don't know and not letting people assume. The reasoning on why that's important will most likely show up later. I'm happy I got to write this. This was adorable and sweet. I now have to go rewrite everything for Home of the Lost as I lost all of chapter three. Wish me luck. With all that said have a wonderful day and hope you enjoyed!)

Coming Out - The Pixie and The Dyrad
Emi sighs as he applies more concealer to his neck. Lexi just had to leave so many marks. Speaking of the dryad, Emi is startled out of his thoughts when he feels an arm wrap around him. He sighs and leans into the girl's touch. "Something wrong?" She asks and Emi remembers his thoughts. "Yeah, nothing you could do about it though," He responds, the discomfort making his stomach swirl. Lexi raises an eyebrow. "You sure?" She holds Emi just a bit closer and Emi feels his anxiety scream at him.
"I can't love you," He says before he can stop himself. Realizing what he said, Emi looks down and stares intently at the sink. Lexi from behind him blinks in confusion. "Uh, I don't love you like that either?" Emi feels a bit better at the words and lifts his head. He meets Lexi's gaze with a hopeful smile. "I do have to ask what made you say can't," Lexi says, curiosity taking over. Emi's smile fades and he sighs again. He thinks about the words carefully before answering the dryad.
"You know how we're friends with benefits," Lexi nods in response. "How we don't kiss a lot, just occasionally?" Lexi hums and gives Emi a little nod to continue. "Well, I despise the idea of making out and I can't imagine myself committing to someone. I've never gotten butterflies or had a crush before that wasn't superficial. But, I still crave to take someone on dates and buy them gifts. I want to cuddle and know everything about someone without the whole dating aspect."
Lexi takes a moment to think before speaking. "So, the relationship benefits without the romance?" Lexi asks to get a little more information. "Exactly!" Emi exclaims. "Does this include sexual benefits?" Lexi says trying to gauge Emi's response. Emi nods and sighs once more. "I'm sure that seems weird and confusing. I thought I was pansexual for the longest time for it. I'm actually under the aromantic scale, it's called cupioromantic. It's the desire for a relationship without the romance part. Also, you don't or feel very little romance for people either," Emi explains the best he can. Lexi nods and takes everything into account. It explained a lot about the pixie and who he was.
"I'm not asking you to be that either, by the way. I mean, I want you too but, if that's too much and you prefer we just stay fuck buddies, I'm cool with it. Hell, you can even cut off contact with me if you want. I just want you to know the truth and how I feel," Emi rattles on but Lexi has already made up their mind. She takes Emi's face and gently makes him look them in the eyes. "Emi," Lexi starts and Emi is immediately nodding. "I would like that with you. Platonically dating sounds wonderful." Emi can't help that his eyes start to water. "You mean it?" He asks, his fear still lingering. Lexi chuckles. "Yeah, as long as you don't mind if I get a partner or anything," The dryad says with a gentle ruffle to the pixie's hair. Emi grins at the affection. "As long as they don't mind what we do, I'm okay with it," He responds with his own teasing grin.
The two would need to talk about boundaries and more but, for now, they were okay. Emi's heart bursts with happiness and contentment. They could talk about it more in detail later for now they enjoyed being in the present and in each other's arms. The peace is unfortunately broken by one of their phones going off. "Shit!" Emi says as he quickly tries to finish hiding the hickeys. Lexi smirks at the response. Yeah, they were going to be just fine together.
(A/n: Meet Emi. An oc who is cupioromantic like me. The experience that Emi describes and how he feels is a mirror of my own. The differences are not having a partner (of any type) and we have different wishes about the sexual benefits. I was coming to terms with being cupio and I thought what if an oc had this? Maybe it would help me understand myself more by writing it out. I can confirm that it did help a lot. The fwb was just something my brain thought would be an interesting dynamic and a good way to approach the topic. So what if a character has a buddy and he's scared the other is in love with them? Thus, Emi the pixie and Lexi the dryad were born. Their dynamic is going to be a fun one to write and I hope I do more writing for them. I already have ideas. I'm going to hopefully finish chapter 3 of Home of the Lost first. It's currently longer than the first two chapters and I'm so excited to share it when it's done. I hope you enjoyed and have a fantastical day!)

Happy STS! ♥️ You can go back in time and give yourself one piece of writing advice. What is it?
Happy STS to you as well! Hmm, your question is a hard one to answer, mortal. I think I would tell myself it's okay to be unsure. That writing down my thoughts and visions is better than letting them disappear. I would also tell myself to look into the mortal realm more. It's not as scary as I once believed it to be.
(From Emi: I would tell myself to be proud of what I've written and stop writing things that make me uncomfortable just because others wanted me to. Also, write down my stories more and don't lose them. Even if I rewrote them completely, I think the reminders of where I came from would be heartwarming and sweet.)

Hi Oracle! Happy STS! Have you ever thought about the cover of your wip or maybe some illustrations of your favourite scenes? Could you describe them?
Happy STS to you too! I haven't thought of covers but of certain scenes for sure. I would like to show mortals silly scenes like The Dummies all together laughing. Show Camillia and Emil cuddling each other with Marcie and Brooklynn chating nearby. The image of Rina, Jazz and Camillia in their formal outfits dancing happily together. A picture of all the witches together or just certain pairs like Celeste and Scarlett or Vic and Christine. I believe the most would be the image of the royal family together (Ecerardus, Ellinora, Emblem and me) in the rose gardens looking regal.
(From Emi: One of my goals is to get a commissioned piece of Gena royal family or of Camillia in this regal evening dress. The Camillia in dress is from a scene that I wrote but never published that means a lot to me in what it stands for. The scene is Camillia coming to terms with who she is and embracing it. She has her broken horns and tail out and she's smiling like nothing can ever bring her down. The Gena royal family together I want because the family is based after my own. Queen Emblem is my grandmother and Ellinora is based after my sister. Ecerardus and the Orcale are both based after me in different times of my life. Ecerardus when I first started to live with them and the Oracle of me now. Having a picture of them together wiuld be a nice reminder of how my family has always been there for me when I've needed it.)

Home of the Lost; Chapter 2; Naivete of Man
(Chapter 2 is done! From Emil's pov. This is 2,682 words. I hope you enjoy! Tw: Zombies, cussing, manipulation, panic attack)
Truthfully, Emil knew what he wanted to say. Julian’s anxiety and nervousness make him stay silent. He wants to talk about the argument but also drop it at the same time. It wasn’t even his fault. Julian was the one who was stubborn about checking out the school for no reason. Although, Emil probably should have just given in. The brown-haired man bites his bottom lip in thought.
“We’re here,” Julian’s gruff voice startles Emil. The sound strikes him as strange. Everything about Julian was strange to him. From the tattoos on his arm that stick out from under his black leather jacket to his shaggy auburn hair, Julian’s entire demeanor screamed that he lived rough. However, his attitude to the others said he was sheltered and naive. Was Emil just overthinking again? “So we are,” He says when he remembers that Julian said something. Julian’s eyebrow quirks up but he stays silent. The two enter the cafeteria with bated breaths. Once the doors close behind them, it’s silent. Emil hears Julian sigh in relief. The auburn-haired man takes the lead and starts towards the kitchen area. Emil follows shining a flashlight to light their way. Julian hops over the small divider and starts rummaging through the kitchen. Emil follows and starts checking for canned goods. He keeps the flashlight between them.
“I’m sorry,” Emil blinks in surprise at the apology. It takes him a moment to realize what Julian is apologizing for.“It’s fine,” Emil says with a wave of his hand. The fight left his mind the second they entered the kitchen. His mind was already focused on caring for Lizzy and checking for some edible food. “Still, it- I was being kind of a dick and I’m sorry for it,” Julian’s voice is timid and Emil turns around to face him. Julian looks back at him, eyes full of hope and sadness. It makes Emil uncomfortable. “It’s okay, really. I’m over it already, you don’t need to apologize,” The words feel wrong leaving Emil’s mouth but he pushes through. Usually, he would have already left this man behind a few hours ago. If they have to be around each other, and if Emil wants his plan to work, they need to pretend to like each other.
“So we’re good then?” Julian asks and Emil’s heart squeezes at the pleading look on the other man’s face. “Yeah, we’re good,” Emil’s voice sounds fake even to his own ears. Julian doesn’t seem to notice. “Find anything?” Emil asks, desperate to change the topic. Julian takes it with grace. “Nothing much, just some pots and pans,” Julian holds up a large pot as if he’s debating whether it’s useful or not. Emil resists the urge to roll his eyes. “What about you?” Emil startles a bit at the question. He hadn’t been looking too hard, his mind was on other things. “Nothing. Everything’s expired,” He says and it’s the truth. Emil doesn’t need to go through every can to know he's right.
“I’ve got some fruit and trail mix,” Julian’s eyes widen as if he hadn’t meant to say the words out loud. Emil waves off his panic. “I’ve got protein bars and jerky,” He says and starts back towards the kitchen’s exit. Julian lets out a small chuckle and quickly follows. “We could make a whole meal out of it,” Julian offers shyly. Emil’s body goes stiff and his hands curl around the flashlight tighter. Julian looks oblivious to the turmoil inside Emil’s head. What was wrong with this guy? Shouldn’t he know the dangers of offering food? Emil pushes those thoughts away and gives Julian a tight-lipped smile.
Julian takes it as an okay and the rest of the walk is in heavy silence. Once they reach the kids, Emil lets out a soft sigh of relief. Elizabeth comes rushing over to them and practically leaps into Emil’s arms. Emil is quick to drop the flashlight and catch the small girl. “Careful, hon. You don’t want to get hurt again,” He says with an airy laugh as he hugs his daughter. He gives her shoulder two short squeezes before letting go. Elizabeth understands the code and steps away appeased. Emil grabs his bag and pulls out a bag of jerky and two protein bars. It was enough for dinner. They would eat more when they reached the safe house. Emil risks a look at Julian’s food and nearly drops his bag in shock.
Fresh Fruit. Julian somehow had fresh fruit. It wasn’t one fruit either. He had apricots, raspberries, and strawberries. Emil can feel himself and Lizzy drooling. It had been so long since they had fresh fruit. Julian looks at them with a curious tilt of his head. Emil feels himself flush and he quickly opens one of the bars. He gives it to Elizabeth before digging into his own.
“Here,” Julian holds out some raspberries to the father-daughter duo. Emil eyes them suspiciously and Elizabeth freezes at the sight. It’s subtle but still visible. Elizabeth is shaking. Her pupils are wide and memories of something dancing across her face. Emil wraps his arms around her tightly. Julian drops his hand quickly. “It’s okay Lizzy. It’s gonna be fine. Everything’s okay,” Emil reassures his daughter, calming himself down in the process. Julian backs away and gives the two space. That’s the first smart thing he’s done this evening, Emil thinks before his attention is back on Lizzy. Emil’s heart breaks as she sobs into his chest. He gently runs his fingers through her hair and rubs her back soothingly. “Let it out, honeybee,” He mummers before kissing the girl’s head.
“Feeling better?” Emil asks when he doesn’t feel Elizabeth crying and shaking anymore. The girl sniffles before looking up at him. “M’sorry, papa,” Elizabeth mumbles, tearing her eyes away from the older man. Emil takes lifts her head making their eyes meet and gently wipes away the last of her tears. “Don’t be, hon. You did nothing wrong,” He tells the girl. He wouldn’t let her apologize for having trauma, especially when he’s supposed to protect her.
The two approach Julian and Soul after a while. Julian’s eyes are filled with guilty and Soul looks at them with concern. “Hey,” Emil starts as Elizabeth hides semi-behind him. Julian says nothing, staring at the two with conflicting emotions. Soul gives his father an unimpressed look before responding to the other two. “Hi. Everything okay?” Soul's eyes rest on Elizabeth who frowns. “Sorry,” She mumbles, hiding her face from them. “Doing better. She's currently very embarrassed,” Emil says as he pats Elizabeth's head. Soul gives an understanding nod at the explanation and kneels down to the little girl's height.
“There's nothing to be embarrassed about,” He reassures the little girl from hiding with open arms. Elizabeth runs into them and wraps her arms around his neck holding tightly. “You mean it?” Her voice is barely above a whisper. Soul nods and a content noise comes from the girl. Emil's heart warms at the sight. Soul was a good kid despite his naive caretaker. Speaking of Julian, Emil's gaze falls back onto the man. Julian fidgets under his eyes and makes a gesture to leave. Emil raises an eyebrow but nods at the request. Julian whispers something into Soul's ear before moving to leave the room. Emil is a little surprised but complies. They make it out and stand in silence for a few moments.
“What,” Julian clears his throat as Emil stares at him confused. “What was that?” Emil resists the urge to laugh. Truthfully, there was no way for Julian to know about their past. It wasn't the man's fault for walking into an unexpected trigger. Still, Emil could use this. “Elizabeth and I find it hard to trust people based on past experiences,” Emil decides it's all the information he’s willing to give. Julian, for his part, takes it with a nod. “I'm really sorry,” He starts but, Emil cuts him off with a shake of his head. “It’s fine,” His voice is curt and leaves no room for argument. “Still, is there something I can do? I’ll do anything,” Julian is practically begging and Emil feels something stir in his stomach. He takes a deep breath. This was no time to feel sorry or be forgiving. Besides this is his opportunity. “Travel with us,” Julian's eyes widen in surprise. “I must have heard you wrong,” He tries but Emil cuts him off again.
“Travel with us,” The brunet repeats, tone purposely neutral. “If you're sorry, travel with us and make sure we stay safe.” Julian swallows and nods. Emil's face manages to keep a smirk off his face. Extra protection was always wanted and needed with a six-year-old. It's especially wanted on a dangerous trip like this. Once they get to the cabin, Julian and Soul can go their merry way. “We need to make a stop,” Julian breaks Emil from his thoughts. “What kind of stop and where?” Emil doesn't want to waste too much time. Not when Brooklynn had sacrificed too much for them already. “Yellowstone, supplies,” Julian doesn't elaborate. Emil doesn't need him too. “Lucky for you, we're heading to Yellowstone,” He says before turning around and walking back through the door.
He walks back in to find Elizabeth curled up in Soul's arms fast asleep. Soul looks at the older man with a small smile. “We ate some jerky and fruit,” He whispers just loud enough for Emil to hear. Emil nods and goes through his bag. He pulls out a gray sleeping bag and a black bunny stuffed animal. The toy is clearly well-loved and gives Emil pause. Memories of Elizabeth rush through his mind as he smiles at the bunny. “Mr. Bunny?” Lizzy's sleepy voice brings Emil out of his thoughts. Emil can't stop the fond smile on his lips as he gently scoops the girl into his arms. “I have him right here, honeybee,” Emil says as he kisses the top of Lizzy's head. He gives Soul a grateful nod when he notices the teen laying out Lizzy's sleeping bag. Emil places the sleepy girl down and tucks her in tightly with Mr. Bunny. She looks up at him with glossy eyes and a tiny smile. “Night, Papa,” Elizabeth says as her eyes close. Emil rubs the girl's back in soothing patterns until her breathing evens out.
Emil lets out a soft sigh and moves to pull a thin blanket and pillow from his pack. He takes note that Soul is in his own sleeping bag and seems to be asleep. Julian, however, still hasn't come in. Emil frowns and gets up from his place next to Elizabeth. He couldn't sleep if someone else was up without talking about it first. If he was on guard duty, they need to figure out how much time between shifts. Emil walks through the door with one last fond look at the sleeping little one and teenager. He couldn't deny Soul had already wormed his way into Emil's heart. Not that the teen needed to know that. Emil walks down the hall, unease causing him to shiver. He didn't know if it was because of the eeriness of the empty school or its clear wealth. This wasn't a place Emil's parents could have ever sent him to. Not that they would have anyway. Guilt floods Emil as he knows he couldn't have afforded for Elizabeth to go to a private school like this one. He shakes it off, walking faster in hopes of finding Julian quicker. Anything to get away from the memories and thoughts.
He finds the auburn-haired man in front of the iron gate leading to the second floor. “What are you doing?” Emil asks, confusion clear under his annoyed tone. Julian faces him with a small smile. “Need some air,” He says before looking back at the gate. “Wondering if it's worth it.” Emil crosses his arms and makes a noise of understanding, a little surprised by Julian's honesty. “We could close it after going through. Make sure the kids are safe,” He suggests offhandedly. Julian looks at him with wide eyes before tilting his head in thought. “Maybe. That might work,” He mumbles and Emil watches as the man's nose scrunches in thought. Emil’s stomach flutters and he is quick to shake the feeling off. It's been a while since I've had conversations with someone who’s actually nice, that's all, He tells himself as Julian's head suddenly snaps up. “Are you coming with me?” Julian asks, his tone is urgent with a hint of excitement. Emil nods in a slight panic, unsure about the other man's quick change in attitude. “I have a plan then,” Julian says confidently and grabs Emil by the hand.
Julian's plan is simple. Block the room with desks and chairs from other the other classrooms. It takes the both of them and Emil feels slightly embarrassed at how long it takes them. They are only able to move one desk and several chairs. Julian says it's because of the small doorways and Emil pretends with him. Afterward, they open the gate and close it behind them. Emil even kicks and pushes on it to double-check it's secure. It's better to be safe than sorry. Emil follows Julian as they head up the stairs to the second floor. They don't find much, just more empty classrooms. The silence gives Emil both peace and unease. Julian seems to notice and fills the air with nonsense. He's quiet and still alert as he does. Emil does his best to hide the smile threatening to bloom across his face.
The two come across a staircase that's not as wide as the one they come upon. It's in a corner and almost hidden away from the rest of the school. There's a door at the end with a faded sign neither man can read. Julian and Emil exchange glances before turning back. Pushing away his anxiety, Emil starts the walk up. He lets out a slight sigh of relief when he hears Julian's footsteps behind him. Knife in hand, Emil opens the door ready for anything. All his nerves disappear with a gasp as he stares at what they find.
They walk onto the roof and Emil shivers at the change in temperature. The evening air is slightly nippy and leaves fly around them in a silent dance. The sky is yellow, orange, and purple mixing with blue. The stars are twinkling ever so slightly with a bright full moon. It's beautiful and it makes Emil's stomach twist on itself. He looks at Julian in an attempt to prevent himself from crying. He quickly regrets it. Julian stares at the sunset with his eyes wide and mouth slightly open. A slight warmth comes over Emil but, he pushes it down and turns back to the sunset. He watches as the sun disappears and the wonderful colors fade away with it. Julian is the first to break the silence.
“Should we sit down?” Emil nods in response. They sit at the edge of the building. Emil looks at the other buildings and feels the breeze ruffle his hair. He feels content for the moment and slowly closes his eyes. He can feel Julian scoot close to him and the nervousness radiating off the man. “So, um, do you wanna talk?” He asks and Emil resists laughing. “Sure,” He says instead. “How old are you?” Julian asks with a little hesitation now. “Twenty-eight, you?” Emil responds feeling in a giving mood. “Thirty,” That surprises Emil. He would have assumed Julian was younger than him. “How long have you been with Elizabeth,” Julian asks next, keeping the conversation going. It was obvious Emil and Elizabeth weren't related. Elizabeth's red almost orange hair and green eyes were completely different from Emil's. Still, he can't help but feel a little offended. Elizabeth is his daughter through and through. “Six years,” He answer, trying his best to keep his voice neutral. “Had her since she was a baby.”
(This has a whole timeline and plan for how chapters are going to go. Again this started from me not writing my actual world storyline. I'm excited to write this and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Plus I personally adore the plot twists I have planned. Also please let me know if I messed any trigger warnings.)

Hi, happy WBW Oracle! What are popular snacks to-go in your universe? Are they sweet or savoury? Maybe eating in rush is seen as a lack of manners?
Hello! Happy WBW to you too! Popular snacks are really based on where you're from and what you like. My favorites are savory treats. My favorite is Dragon Kabob (Different meats topped with peppers and spices grilled over dragon flames for extra flavoring). Prince Ecerardus prefers sweet and cold treats like Pixie Delight (Frozen dairy (I believe you mortals call it ice cream) topped with different sugars and a hint of fairy dust.) I find it too sweet personally. I've heard a popular snack is Butterfly Cookies (typically cinnamon flavored with fairy dust (But can come in all flavors). The cookies are known to try and fly away if you don't eat them fast enough so be careful if you ever get some.) Pair them with a brew of Witch's tea (Lavender and peppermint are my favorite flavors but again can come in all types) and you have the perfect snack. People tend to savor and enjoy their snacks but it depends on the circumstances. Food is something for everyone to enjoy and if you wish to eat slow or fast it's up to you. I think it's only seen as improper if the royal family does it but since Queen Emblem came into power I think the public is less harsh on them. I hope I've answered your questions well! I'm so grateful you asked them in the first place! Have a fantastical day mortal!

Officially hit 1k words in chapter 2. Mostly due to rewriting, double-checking, and having new ideas. I have a whole timeline for this, I kid you not. I'm so excited.
Home of the Lost; Chapter 1; A Start
(This is 2,655 words. It is also set in a different universe than my other writings. Tw: Zombies, swearing, little blood, violence, weapons? I hope you enjoy it!)
Fear. Fear runs through Julian’s body as the bang echoes through the gardens. Why did he let Soul talk him into this? The botanical gardens were clearly a death trap and they had just walked right in. Soul breaks him out of his thoughts as he slowly creeps closer to the noise. “Are you crazy?” He harshly whispers as he grabs Soul. Soul frowns at him and scoffs. Julian has the urge to remind him they’re in an apocalypse. “It’s not zombies,” Soul says as he continues getting closer. Julian’s eye twitches. “It could be looters,” Julian’s words go unheard as Soul is already gone. Julian groans and moves to find the teen.
Unless Soul turned ten years younger, Julian is sure he just found what made that noise. The kid looks to be about 6 or 7. They’re crying and holding onto their head. A lamppost nearby is still shaking a bit. Julian sighs deeply. How does he always manage to find kids? He’s about to walk closer when a man with light brown hair rounds the corner. “Lizzy!” The man quickly runs to the kid. “What happened?” The kid doesn’t say anything but points to the lamppost. A long-suffering sigh comes from the brown-haired man who looks at the kid with fondness. “Oh, Lizzy,” His voice is soothing, and he gently holds the girl. Julian feels like he’s spying on a private moment. He’s about to leave when-
“Jules?? Where are you?” Soul comes rounding the corner, freezing at the sight of the other two. The man looks at him curiously. Julian represses a sigh and walks out of his hiding spot. The man’s eyes snap to his. The man looks at him with distrust and holds the child closer. Julian feels annoyed at the response. He doesn’t trust the man either. Soul snaps him out of his thoughts. “Jules, Who are these people?” The man softens a little at Soul’s voice. He seems to mull over his words thoughtfully.
“Dunno kid,” He answers honestly. Soul nods and slowly approaches the man. Julian has to take a deep breath at the sight. Does the kid have no survival instinct? The man seems to realize Soul was talking about him. His eyes narrow as he takes Soul’s form in. Julian suppresses rolling his eyes. A swift motion catches his eye. Before he can call out, a large thud echoes around the group. The whirlwind of a kid stands a top of a fallen Soul. “I’m Elizabeth! What’s your name?” The little kid bounces with her words. Soul groans and Julian can’t help the small smile that spreads across his face. His back aches at the memories of Soul jumping on it. The man pales and quickly tries to grab the child. “Lizzy!” He says exasperated at the kid’s antics. Elizabeth looks at the man confused. “But, Papa,” They whine as the older man tries to coax her away. “They could be new friends!” The man looks pained at the kids words, and Julian can feel his own heart ache.
“He can’t answer you if you’re on top of him, sweetheart,” Julian says with a slight smile. Soul’s eyes widen with glee and thanks. The man looks at him with clear shock and confusion. Julian shrugs in return. He didn’t understand why he was doing this either. Perhaps he’s weak when it comes to kids.
Elizabeth takes Julian’s advice and gets off of Soul. The orange-haired girl bonces in place as Soul gets up. Julian has internally laughs at the girl’s quick turn around of emotions. As Soul introduces himself, Julian and the brown-haired man freeze. The other man quickly scoops Elizabeth into his arms as Julian places a hand on Soul’s arm. The two kids look at the adults in confusion. Both groups are quiet and the silence in the air is heavy. Then they all heard it.
Every since the apocalypse started six years ago, Julian trained himself to recognize the sound of the undead coming. The sound of scraping limbs, the horrid scent, and, of course, the groans of the mindless. When Julian found Soul, he tried to teach him the same lessons, but they never seemed to stick. However, this man seems to have trained the same way. Julian makes eye contact with the other who seems to have reached the same conclusion. They were too loud.
“Soul,” Julian’s voice is warning and Soul listens closely. “We are going to go to the west exit with these people.” Soul whips his head to look at him in surprise. Julian supposed he deserved it as he often told Soul they would never work with another group. Truthfully, they don’t have a choice at the moment. The other man seems to have told Elizabeth the plan and gives Julian a nod. As the sound of a hoard moves closer, Julian holds up three fingers. He slowly puts them down and right before as the first zombie shows it’s face, Julian fires his gun. “RUN!” He yells and the group of four take off. The west entrance was luckily not too far.
The rusty iron gate squeals at being opened and both older men wince at the loud noise. Julian gestures for the man and Elizabeth to exit first. The man takes it with a nod and Soul follows after him. Julian holds off as many undead as he can before following the rest of the group. They take off towards an academy nearby. Some point during the journey, Soul holds Elizabeth and the man helps Julian kill the few undead that they can’t shake off. When they seem to be in the clear, Julian saddles up to the man as they walk down the fading paved road.
“It occurs to me, I don’t know your name. Should I call you Chestnut?” Julian mental slaps himself for the stupid nickname as the man blinks at him in confusion. “Chestnut?” The man asks with a tilt of his head and Julian swears his heart skips a beat. “Your hair is a light brown. Plus chestnuts are nuts and we met in the gardens,” He responds pretending to look for zombies to avoid the other man’s eyes. A muffled laugh causes Julian to look at the other. The sun hits the man’s brown hair perfectly making it seem lighter, the pastel blue sweater bright despite the dirt and grim on it, and his black backpack bounce as they walk. Julian feels his heart sputter and heat rise up his neck and cheeks.
The man comes to reality before Julian can and he clears his throat embarrassed.
“It’s Emil, though I don’t mind the nickname,” The brown haired man says with a shy smile. “May I know yours?” Julian’s heart thunders as he responds way to quickly. “Julian,” He looks away to try and will his heart to calm. “It’s Julian.” Emil giggles and Julian looks at him with a slight glare. Emil gives him the grace of changing the topic. “Sorry for this,” He says looking ahead at the kids. “I’m sure you didn’t want to be dragged into this.” Julian snorts before he can stop himself. “The kid was bound to get us in trouble anyway,” He says, tone jokingly annoyed. “We wouldn’t have been in the damn gardens if it weren’t for him.” Emil hums in understanding and gestures to Elizabeth. “Same thing with her. I can’t seem to say no to her,” He says with an airy laugh. “It’s their eyes, I swear,” Julian responds, causing Emil to chuckle. The two smile at each other and then to their kids.
“Jules, is that where we’re going?” Soul breaks the light atmosphere as he points to a nearby building. Elizabeth doesn’t say anything, opting to give her papa a questioning look instead. The building is large and made of dark red bricks. Two large rusty black gate doors protect it with a chain and lock keeping it sealed tight. Julian is happy at the sight of it. While they would still need to check for danger, there is hope that the building is clear. “School’s were shut down when it first started to show up,” Emil supplies and Julian has the urge to kiss him. “Less chance of looters,” Julian says instead, nodding towards the lock. Emil hums his response and picks up Elizabeth. Julian gets down in front of the lock, ignoring the sound of confusion from the other man.
Soul watches closely over his shoulder. Julian sighs and pulls out a misshapen paper clip. He quickly gets to work on the lock as the rest of the group watches on. His concentration doesn’t break until the lock clicks and slides right off. Soul grins as Julian stands up and removes the rest of the chains. “I can do the check,” Emil’s voice is timid and Julian almost doesn’t hear him. “Absolutely not,” He practically growls, startling the man. “Besides, someone needs to watch the kids.” Soul glares at Julian and opens his mouth to say something. Julian shuts him down with a single gaze. Emil sets Elizabeth down and fixes Julian with hard look. “You got it open, the least I can do is check it out,” Emil eye’s bore into Julian’s, daring him to disagree. Unfortunately for the man, Julian is stubborn.
“I repeat, not happening,” Julian’s arms cross and he stares back at Emil. “You don’t even have anything to protect yourself with.” Emil sputters at the comment. “I have my knife,” His teeth are clenched as he talks. “A knife isn’t going to do shit,” Julian responds back, progressively getting angry. “Can’t do shit? You weren’t saying that when it killed these zombies back there!” Emil’s voice teeters on the edge of yelling. “Yeah, because I had your back. Alone it isn’t enough,” Julian says, too far annoyed to think about what he’s saying. Emil huffs in annoyance.
“Fine. Give me the gun.”
“No fucking way.”
“I know how to use a damn gun.”
“Cool, still not happening.”
“We could all go together,” A voice startles the two adults from their staring match. Soul stares at them with a look Julian can’t quite decipher. “No. It’s way to dangerous,” Emil veto's harshly. Perhaps, it’s the man’s pride or stubbornness, that leads Julian to speak. “Fine.” Emil gaps at him, eyes wide and mouth a little agar. For a moment, Julian is proud he shut the man up, until he looks at Soul. Soul who looks back with a shit-eating grin and Julian knows he’ll regret this choice. He huffs before pushing Soul behind him. “Kids stay in the middle.”
The inside of the academy is similar to every school, albeit a bit fancier and cleaner. They decide to limit the check to the first floor, closing off the second with an iron gate. Once everything shows up clear, Julian leads them into a random classroom. A giant world map is taped to the whiteboard and a globe sits on the biggest desk. Julian gauges their in a history classroom and thanks the stars the room is carpeted. Sure, the carpet doesn’t feel the best but, it’s better then sleeping on hardwood. As the kids take time exploring the decent sized room, Julian gets to work moving desks. Emil starts checking windows and covering them with curtains. Julian resists the urge to say they weren’t vampires, figuring the two of them weren’t on the best of terms currently. Besides, it gives Julian some time to think.
Like how he’s acting like a damn schoolboy around the other man. Julian internally groans remembering the small argument. He was sure Emil saw him as a creep or weirdo. Truthfully, Julian just wanted to keep everyone safe. Honestly, there were more problems than just the protectiveness. The way his heart leapt when the man so much as smiled, was also not ideal. First, he just met Emil and second, he doesn’t even know if he’s into men. Third, they’re in the apocalypse. Neither of them have time for romance. Between taking care of the kids and keeping themselves safe, why would a relationship ever be on the table? Forth, Julian wouldn't make the mistake of dating someone again. After tonight, they were never going to see each other again. Julian almost snorts as he recalls the millions of times he’s told Soul they’re a solo group. The two of them against the world. Pretty boys with chestnut brown hair and adorable daughters don’t fit into that plan.
Julian sighs and it feels like a physical weight off of him. He can do this for one night. Then he and Soul will continue to the safe house in Wyoming. There Soul and him will stay with Christine. They will live safe and protected. That's all Julian can ask for. A slight cry knocks Julian from his thoughts and he quickly turns to the two kids.
Soul is holding Elizabeth and trying to calm her down. “What’s wrong?” Julian asks making sure to keep his voice even. “She tripped,” Soul says his eyes pleading for Julian to do something. Emil moves to rummages through his bag and Julian kneels in front of Elizabeth to check her wounds. “Where does it hurt?” He asks the whimpering little girl. Elizabeth points to her knees and Julian rests his hands near by them. “Can I look at them?” The older man asks and waits for the girl’s response. Elizabeth nods and even leans down to try and roll her pants up herself. Julian chuckles lightly at the try and rolls them up himself. The girl’s knees are scrapped and have very little blood on them. A first aid kit is set down next to Julian and he turns to see Emil averting his eyes.
Julian opens the kit, pulls out a few band-aids, gauze and Neosporin. “Can you get me some cloth and a water bottle?” He asks Emil who is quick to follow instructions. He returns shortly with a water bottle and ripped cloth. Julian takes them with a small smile before turning his focus back on Elizabeth. “I’m going to clean them first, so stay still,” He tells the girl who nods. Soul places his hand in hers and gives it gentle squeeze. “You can squeeze my hand as hard as you want if it hurts,” Soul says as he curls himself next to Elizabeth. Julian can’t stop the fond smile at the scene. He takes a deep breath and pours some water on the cloth. He gentle cleans the scraps and dries them with the other side of the cloth. He squeezes some ointment on his finger and winces when Elizabeth cries out as he places it on the scraps. He puts the ointment on as fast as he can and finishes it off by putting on the band-aids. “All done,” He tells the girl when he’s finished. Elizabeth lets out a single sniffle with a watery smile. Emil wraps his arms around her as Julian cleans up the supplies.
Soul talks with Julian for a few minutes while Elizabeth and Emil have a moment. “Hey,” Emil’s voice is soft and Soul is the first to look at him. “Elizabeth’s asleep.” Julian hums his understanding and watches as the man struggles to say something else. “I was thinking Soul could stay and watch her while we check the cafeteria,” Emil finally gets out making Soul tilt his head in confusion. There was very little chance of any food being edible or any food at all. However, Julian understood the underlying, we need to talk alone that accompanied the request. “That sounds like a plan,” He says, getting up with a slight groan. “Soul, hold down the fort.” Soul opens his mouth to argue before shutting it at the look Julian gives him. Julian ruffles the teen's hair before heading to the door with Emil. “Be good,” He calls before walking out the door.
(A/n: This started with procrastination. I wrote this instead of working on my games or writing my main storyline's first chapter. Still, I adore it and hope other people do too. I hope you have a fantastical day and let me know your thoughts!)
