I wasted like half of my summer tryna hold on your hand

Leo grinned, lacing his fingers with Maria's. "Ready to go on our date amor?" He hummed, swinging his arm back and forth. Maria smiled, squeezing his hand. "Mhm! Though I am a little nervous..." Her voice trailed off. Leo frowned.

"How come?" He mumbles before he cut her off. "Is it the food? I'm not taking you anywhere fancy-" "Leo." "Unless you wanna go someplace fancy-" "Leo." "Should I book some place fancy?" "Leo!" Maria practically shouted, making the boy jolt and freeze in place "I'm worried about Ari." Maria sighed.

Leo looked over at his date. "And why would you be worried about Ari." He deadpanned. Sure Ari was a great girl and all but she was a little too over protective of her sister. Maria played with the hem of her shirt. "She's... A lot sometimes." Leo shrugged. "But she'll be fine." He smiled.

Maria shook her head and sighed. "That's not- that's not what I'm worried about. She's crazy overprotective. Even if I'm older. I don't want her tailing us or something." Maria mumbles and Leo clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "Oh come on babe. That's what you're worried about? Gimmie a minute let me text someone... " He grinned, pulling out his phone.

Mere moments pass and Maria frowned, what was he doing?

Leo grins, shoving his phone into his pocket. "Ok done. Now we have tonight. And probably tomorrow to ourselves." He hummed, taking Maria's hand once more. "Come on. I'm taking you to the carnival and we're gonna eat so much cotton candy we’re gonna throw up." Maria snorted. "Who were you texting??" She tilted her head, intrigued.

Leo swung her arm back and forth and grinned. "Lester... I told him to go tell Ari he needed tutoring. Knowing them, they're gonna be stuck studying for the next four days. Ari will drill him about everything and knowing Lester and his silly little puppy crush he'd let her if it meant he could spend time with her." Leo finished and Maria gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. "Poor Lester. He's gonna be stuck there for ages."

She shook her head and Leo snorted before he shrugged. "Does it really matter?" He smiled. "Now enough talking. There isn't any cotton candy in my mouth which means I'm not having a good time." He squeezed her hand and gave Maria a soft grin. "Let's get out of here.

a/n: I live for this face of everyone, it makes me very irresistible, lol.

— Want to die? — Jason asked, his expression completely changed. As if his pale skin wasn't enough, the way his face turned into a deadly calmness gave them enough reason to doubt every decision they had made in the last two miserable years of their lives. When they felt a cold breeze run down their spine, confirmed they had definitely messed with the wrong guy. What Jason didn't know was that normal mortals didn't find it hard to play that game because, well, those threats were never as real as he was used to.

— It's just a woman, no big deal, buddy — maybe was the brown-haired guy said it in a disdainful tone, or maybe was the last word that made Jason's stomach churn, but he remembered he was still in public, so he tried not to incinerate them with a snap or at least not to keep gritting his teeth the way he was because he swore he was about to shatter them.

— Just a woman — he repeated the words, dragging each one with hatred and disgust. The guy with the red hair looked more nervous than his other friend, so he tried to make peace, but that was something Jason had already left behind as an alternative to that argument. He wouldn't forgive any disrespect to you, because you were his best friend, his girlfriend, the person he would die for without a second thought, and if they wanted to see him that way, then you weren't just a woman, you were his woman.

He glanced to make sure you weren't anywhere near the checkout and took a few steps toward the pair. The redhead was close to wetting his pants, but his friend still had that stubborn look, pretending to downplay the significant difference in height and muscle mass between them.

For a moment, Jason struggled with his morality, because it was stupid to fight with his clearly abnormal strength for something that was easy to ignore because they would never be able to lay a finger on you while he was alive. However, he couldn't help but notice the way their eyes had been roaming over your body or the way they looked at you while you smiled at him. It made his blood boil and awakened the most primitive part of his being causing his logical side to drown and disappear, almost like those days when he was with the wolves. Besides, if he thought about it, it wasn't just them, it was every damn man and woman who dared to smile at you in a way that suggested more than just kindness, especially if they were the ones making you laugh. That's when he always felt on the edge of losing control.

Jason could feel shame somewhere in his conscience for his behavior, but this was also too real to hide for a little longer. That moment alone with those idiots had only given him the golden opportunity to unleash those piled-up frustrations.

— Yeah, just a woman — it was stupid, the conversation didn't go beyond that, but the retort was enough for the air to smell metallic and their hair to stand on end warning of the electricity beginning to fill their surroundings. How bad would it be if two mortals were struck by lightning for earning the title of the biggest idiots of the month? The answer was obvious to Jason: very bad, useless, in fact. So he took a deep breath and watched their hair return to normal.

— She's mine — he said, starting to turn around to go help you, but he stopped when he heard the other mocking him.

— Who says? —Jason was fed up with the irreverence and turned back to them, his fingertips sparking again.

— Beat it —he said as he sent a small electric shock to both of them. Mild enough not to cause harm but enough to make them scream. His eyes literally sparkled, making them doubt what they were seeing, scaring them, and confirming that the Mist hadn't helped when he saw them run. He wondered if he had gone too far, if he had let himself be carried away too much by that part of him that didn't make him proud but that he knew was part of him. In the end, he decided he didn't care, remembering that someone had once told him he had to stop holding back. So, with that philosophy in mind, he decided to go look for you.

The picnic tables weren't as crowded as you expected, in fact, there was hardly anyone around you, and you wondered if it was because for a moment there was a hint of rain or because of the heavy aura that Jason had been carrying since you left the grocery store, and now that you thought about it, you considered that both reasons were possibly related.

— Jason Grace — you called him sweetly as you opened the picnic basket, and he immediately softened his frown and looked in your direction. He was struck by the gentle way the breeze swayed your hair, it was an almost imperceptible movement but it highlighted how beautiful you were. He knew why you were calling him by his full name, his behavior couldn't be more obvious, but those words echoed in his mind.

»Who says?«

He slid along the bench to get closer to you as he watched you set things on the table. He wrapped his hand around your waist, and although you smiled in that way that was like oxygen to him, it wasn't enough for him. So, taking you by the hips, he forced you to stand up.

— C'mon, let's eat, baby — you said giggling, and he sat you on that old wooden table while he returned to the bench.

He looked up at you with his blue eyes, and seeing you from that perspective that made you look majestic. he rejected the idea of letting anyone else be the person who hugged you or who was close enough to smell your sweet scent. The idea of someone else other than him being able to kiss your lips, which were so perfect and soft, drove him crazy, he couldn't handle it.

»Who says?«

With that thought, he started searching in your bag that was lying next to you, you never stopped him, but you wondered about that change in attitude because he seemed a little rougher and severe, his eyes were even a little darker, but you couldn't deny that he looked handsome, that you even liked it.

When Jason found what he wanted, he stood up supporting only his right knee on the bench as support and he enjoyed the way that velvet skirt rose, leaving your thighs in his view. Before leaning towards them, he searched your eyes for any kind of disapproval because for him, the most important thing was how you felt, and not finding anything like that, gave him enough confidence to continue.

He felt your muscles tense and tried to undo it by caressing your leg, but failing that, his lips kissed a bit above your knee, which made you swallow saliva, what the hell was he trying to do and why now? Jason was never too public, any major display of affection was always in a more intimate place. When he straightened up, in his hand you finally saw what he had taken from your bag: your eyeliner.

Dazed, you reached out to try to take it, but he quickly caught his hand with yours on the table and before you could do the same with the other, he placed the open eyeliner between his lips and trapped your other hand in the same way.

He raised his gaze above his glasses and slowly shook his head, sending a silent warning before leaning towards you again, exactly on your upper thigh. You felt the moisture of the pen on your skin and with a given precision, you started to see that he was writing, but it wasn't until he finished that you could barely read it. The air left your lungs when you deciphered it and you didn't understand how after doing that, he had sat back down with the same serene smile as always, his hands spreading the tablecloth for you to eat while he hummed a familiar song.

Had you missed something? It was definitely something new in him to behave openly in that way, but you didn't dislike it. After all, what it said there wasn't a lie.

— Do you have any objections? — His demanding question didn't match the sweet tone in which he had said it, and you got off the table to put both hands on his shoulders.

— No, sir — you confirmed with the same tone and kissed the line of his jaw before taking a seat beside him.

Jason continued to arrange things, he seemed peculiarly focused, so you took the opportunity to discreetly look down once more, but your skirt had covered the word. Slowly with your hand, you lifted the fabric until it was visible again:

"Mine"

You felt a warmth spread through your body and crossed your legs on purpose to make it visible. That action drew a smile on your boyfriend's face, and not long after, he kissed you. No, it wasn't a lie, but as you was his, he was yours.

I wasted like half of my summer tryna hold on your hand

Leo groans in annoyance and rolls his eyes as Ari and Maria pour over different books, looking at the spines of them, pulling them out to read the blurb, whispering about the cover art. Giggling about fictional men, and in Ari's case, fictional women too. Gods, he was planning on separating the two sisters so he could have quality time with Maria and then Ari could drag Lester around like some sort of pet, and knowing the god he wouldn't mind one bit being dragged around by a woman like Ari and- wait. Leo looked up from the floors and turned to look around the bookstore. Where? Where was Lester? He knew that they needed to find the ex-god and fast too. Demigod reeked of a certain smell that attracted monsters.

Children of the big three were especially victim to the constant onslaught of enemies. Who knew how potent Apollo would be. Walking around and still holding onto some of that divinity? Leo quietly peeled himself away from the two girls, praying that they wouldn't notice him wandering off - which proved to be very easy since they were sitting on the floor, whispering quietly about some series he could care less about.

Leo briskly walked through the shelves of books, the smell of paper and ink felt strangely, very nice... Leo didn't know how long he'd been walking for, but he found himself pulling out a book about machinery and mechanics. "I'm pretty sure that one was written by a great grandkid of your dads... so some sort of half sibling of yours. Somewhere down the line," A voice came from beside him and Leo turned to look at the person. Lester grinned.

"Oh right- I was looking for you! I got distracted, you know... ADHD and all..." Leo shrugged, tracing the author's name with his finger, ignoring the way the words seemed slightly fuzzy on the page. Lester shrugged, shutting his book on poetry. "Yea... it's not surprising. I uh- got distracted too... I was gonna get Ari a gift you know. Maybe like... pick something out that she would like you know?" Lester looked down at the book and smiled at the name on the cover. "One of my daughters wrote this one." Lester slid the book back in its respective spot. Leo thought for a moment. "So, uh... you know what kind books Maria likes?" He shot Apollo a grin.

omg so excited about this. but for now I'm laughing at how silly and funny Lester and Leo are, I love them!

I wasted like half of my summer tryna hold on your hand

Ari frowned, looking at the small card in her palm. She chewed on her lip, drawing a mental schedule in her mind, along with a timetable. So many places, so little time. Plus, buses and trains, accounting for at least thirty minutes if the transport was late and- gods this trip was going to be tight on time. “Fifty dollars on food…” Maria looked over Ari's shoulder, startling the woman who snapped out of her train of thought and looked back at her half-sister with a confused expression before it dawned on her, what she was referring to exactly. "What- oh! Right! Sorry I zoned out." Ari mumbled. Maria shook her head. "It's quite alright. I was just muttering to myself. If we allocate fifty for food and two hundred on books... how much will we have left exactly?” Maria looked down at the page, filled with notes and small doodles of flowers and small animals.

Ari mumbled to herself, doing some quick math. "Ah... forty... dollars... that’s uh… yea that’s not very good." She frowned. The girls sighed. “Gods we have a bad addiction.” Maria mumbled. “Hey! It’s not our fault four books is like a hundred dollars. We’re not the ones upping the prices!!” Ari huffs, crossing her arms and leaning back in her chair, looking wistfully out of the cabin window. She stepped out of her chair and pushed the window open, letting the sound of the morning campers and the first few rays of the dawn’s sun leak through the curtains. The wind was soft and caused a pleasant shiver to run though her spine. Inhaling a deep breath of the fresh air calmed the jittery nerves of both girls.

Ari paused before she looked back at her half-sister, “We’re simple girls. Books are our Roman Empire. It's like our drug addiction. Who needs pills when you have words on a page. Besides. You can always re-read. So, in a sense. We're better because we're getting more for our money's worth, and we're not ruining our lives for some shady chemicals.” Ari grins. Maria snorted, shaking her head at the absurdity that was her younger sibling. “You make a good point. So… lunch, library, study, bookstore? That’s the plan, right? Or are we still headed for the science and arts museum?” She double checked the schedule. While the pair were chatting and discussing amongst each other, drawing up plans and diagrams a certain son of Hephaestus, accompanied by a certain ex-god turned mortal decided to make their presence in the cabin known.

Leo threw open the door to their room, effectively causing them both to jump and freak out. Apollo - Now more commonly known as "Lester" stood behind him, looking around at the interior of the Athena cabin, taking in every minute detail. With his ukelele slung over his shoulder he carefully stepped into the room, offering the girls a nervous, lopsided grin. Leo bounded forward before he swept Maria into his arms and grinned when she shrieked in shock. “Put me down Valdez!!” She shouted, practically scrambling to cling onto him to avoid possibly slipping and falling. Ari gasped and slipped her slipper off, pausing to get a good aim before slapping the boy in the face with the article of footwear which made the boy whimper in pain, putting her half-sister down on the floor.

“Uncalled for Ari!” He grumbled rubbing his face and Ari scoffed. “Should’ve thought twice before you decided to fuck with my sister.” Ari hissed through her teeth, crossing her arms and staring at the boy with a grimace. “Geez... You Athena kids are so stuck up…” He mumbles before raising his hands in defence when Ari steps forward, glaring daggers. Lester stood back, debating if he should involve himself in the whole ordeal, but when his gaze slid over to Maria, and then over to Leo, before finally resting on Ari's face he decided that he didn't want to die before he became a god again. Lester slipped behind Ari before standing beside Maria, carefully watching the pair to step in if things got too heated. "Ex-fucking-cuse me!? What did you just say!!" Ari stepped forward, placing a finger on Leo's chest, eyes cold and hard. Leo stepped back, mentally cursing himself for not noticing the other girl before he went to embrace Maria. “Nope! You didn’t hear anything!” He grinned nervously.

Maria sighed, placing a hand on her half-sister’s shoulder. “Just drop it. You know how he is..." She whispered and Ari huffs. "Fine... you're lucky Maria's here to save your ass otherwise I would've beaten your sorry ass back to Tartarus." She hissed and Leo stepped back, looking grateful at the other child of Athena for technically, saving him out of a situation where it would be very difficult to worm his way out of. "And I am truly grateful you know! Ahem- how about I make it up to you two hey? We may or may not have overheard the fact that both of you were heading into the city tomorrow?" Leo grinned. "We?" Ari tilted her head to the side and Lester stepped forward. "Hey." He smiled softly. "I uh... need new things for my next quest." He mumbled, voice trailing off as he stared off into space, thinking about the next ridiculously difficult part of his quest to gain his father’s approval and return to his rightful throne on Olympus.

Ari cleared her throat, looking expectantly at Lester who snapped out of his train of thought. "R-Right and I thought since you two were already going why not stretch my legs and come along you know? It would be a good change of scenery too… I mean I love Meg and all, but she can be a bit much sometimes you know…" He mumbled, fingers reaching up to mindlessly pick at his acne. Ari sighed and grabbed his arm - Apollo tried his best to ignore the feeling of warmth that spread through his body - and pulled it away from his face. "Fine. You can come but only because you're paying for your own stuff you got that?" Ari drawled and Lester's face lit up with a grin. "Of course! I don't think it will take that long so I can just accompany you and Maria after." He awkwardly fiddled with the cuffs of his sleeves. "I mean if you'll let me of course I don't want to intrude you know-" Lester says, freezing when he’s cut off. "Yea sure whatever just don't bother us." Ari rolled her eyes before looking over at Leo. "You are coming with us too, right? Isn’t that why you made this whole trip to this cabin in the first place?"

Leo tore his gaze away from Ari's half-sister, chuckling nervously when he meets her cold gaze. The kind of look that screamed 'Stay away from my sister!!'. He shrugged. "I mean if you check the Camp Half Blood account you would know I posted for some help regrading-" "Materials yea." Ari cut in with a wave of her hand. "That's why you're coming?" She said, tilting her head to the side and Maria looked over at her sister. "You never know what you might find I guess." She shrugged and Ari nodded. "I cannot argue with that." Leo tapped his foot against the floor. "I mean I'm getting Frank and Percy to help out by looking in the usual places, but it won't hurt to see what someone might be selling... If everyone looked in the usual spots what about the… unusual spots…" He thought for a moment, chewing on his nail. "I should've brought Hazel actually. You think she'd be able to help?" Leo looked over at Ari who sighed. "Just... get ready to leave for tomorrow, Valdez." She said dryly, making both boys light up and turn to each other and grin.

Leo and Lester left the cabin silently cheering and clapping each other on the back.
