                    IT   WAS   INSTINCTUAL    to  bury  any  problems  that  arose  as  if  they  did  not  EXIST.    He  was  not  the  kind  of  person  to  share  everything  with  anyone     ------   fingers  clung  to  his  own  TROUBLES,    hid  them  so  far  within  even  he  could  not  always  access  them.        he  gives  a   smile,      a  pause                                   ‘    -------   peggy.   it’s  fine,    things    are  ...    are  under  control  and,     I   uh,     I   KNOW  whats  important   ’             &    to  him  it  was  SPIDER-MAN  that  was  important.   He  felt  the  weight  of  so  many   people  relying  on  him  acutely,    and   he  wouldn’t  let  himself  FAIL  THEM.

Rick’s got a GOOD feeling about this kid – maybe it’s naive but he remains confident. Not that he has much choice now anyway, he’ll have to put a little faith in this new acquaintance the SAME way he’s asking for that in return. Rick shakes his head before it turns into more of a nod as he steps forward, “Appreciate the TIP,” he chuckles, “I’ll keep it down ‘nd be sure t'wipe my boots off, alright?” He feels more content with his decision, with this chance meeting when the young man appears to care at all about keeping the home tidy. It’s an unnecessary kindness and thoughtfulness that he respects – that HAS to be even more of a rarity in this twisted world.

He steps inside carefully, mindful to keep as quiet as possible. “Thanks again for lettin’ me hide out in here with you,” he calls out (still not TOO loudly) as he waits to meet his new friend a little more eye-to-eye. 

              MAYBE  it  was  stupid  to  have  asked  him  to  keep  from  tracking  mud  through  the  house  but  something  felt  right  about  it    -----   that  despite  it  UNDENIABLY  being   the  end   of   the   world  they  were  still  doing  the  right  thing.     peter  imagined  whoever  owned  this  house  would  want  it  to  be  RESPECTED,    even  at  the  end  of  the  world  he  hadn’t  lost  that,    he  still  BELIEVED  in  respect  of  person.        that  rick  didn’t  laugh   at  the  request   made  him  more  CONFIDENT   in  his  decision  to  let  him  in.

peter  had  seen  some  BAD  THINGS  before  this  all  happened,   and  he’d  seen  alot  of  bad  things  since.      those  bad  things  had  sprouted  from  a  lack  of  HUMANITY   --  from   people  no  longer  treating  eachother  as  people  and  he  hoped  he  wouldn’t  become  that  --  that  he  could  nurture  his  own  compassion   &   dignity   and  not  have  it  SUCKED  out  of  him.       even  if  it   only  in  small  gestures.  

   -----              ‘  yeah  s’  --  s’okay.  ’            he  pauses,    DISCOMFORT  suddenly  flooding  him.    it  has  been  a  while  since  he  spoke  to  anyone  face  to  face,         especially  a   STRANGER.           ‘  um,   s’cool.    Not  the  best  to  be  ...   out  there  alone,   y’know  ?   ’
