Here's the link to the evacuation gofundme. They're very close to their goal. They legitimately only have less than 10k USD left to go before all 9 of them can evacuate.

Republicans not wanting to fund libraries is part of their plan to make the next generation illiterate. That is why they are banning books too.

Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.
And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.
It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.
#a while back my gf and i watched the matilda musical movie and we were analyzing it + comparing it to the original movie#and being able to analyze it from the lens of someone who was abused just picking out the themes of abuse#without having the conversation shut down of feeling judged or pitied was just. so freeing#like. i was abused. its a fact of my life just like any other fact about me#ive been through a lot of therapy and i dont need pity or judgement. im not expecting anyone to help me work through it#(ive already done a lot of that on my own and any other issues will be addressed with my therapist—not random people)#sometimes i just want to talk about my experiences without it being treated like its the end of the world#(that makes me feel worse actually. yes being abused was awful. being A Person Who WAS Abused should not be treated as obscene tho)#it was very freeing not only to be able to talk about this aspect of my life without fear of getting a negative reaction#but also to be able to recontextualize it for at least a moment as like. an expertise that i had#the same way that i was able to draw on my choir experiences when we watched ride the cyclone#so i could explain some of the little intricacies about choirs to her and how i thought they affected the dynamics#(and also how fucking INCREDIBLE the ballad of jane doe is)#the same way that ex-catholics on here draw on their experiences to pick apart the religious theming in the locked tomb series#i was able to draw on my experiences as an abuse survivor to analyze the themes of abuse in both matilda movies#and compare and contrast the depictions of abuse between them#and it was just. really healing honestly. im glad i have someone i can talk to about that stuff in just like a normal way

A 28-year-old motorcyclist died in Washington State on Friday afternoon because a dipshit Tesla driver rear-ended him at speed. A Snohomish man, 56, was commuting in his 2022 Tesla Model S when he activated the car’s camera-based advanced driver assist system and according to his statements to police, began looking through his phone. With nobody paying attention to the car’s actions, the Tesla software ignored Jeffrey Nissen on his motorcycle and continued on at speed. The car rear-ended the two-wheeler, Nissen was flung from the bike, and his life ended pinned underneath the electric car, where he was still lodged when police arrived to the scene.
Tesla claims another life.
Reminder that even if you are personally aware of how dangerous Tesla vehicles are and vow to never ride in one, they can still kill you.
My own driving habits have changed around them. I always give Teslas extra space, avoid following them directly, and expect them to stop or swerve suddenly without notice.
Cannot count the times I've pulled up next to a Tesla at freeway speed, noticed the driver playing on their phone. Tap the horn. They look up with surprise.
Please, don't be that guy.

I'm convinced it was a tragedy that tumblr learned the phrase "bury your gays" at the exact same time it decided that any fictional media darker than Landlord White was pearl-clutchingly problematic. Pouring one out for every creator of earnest LGBT+ media wanting to explore the themes of grief loss and tragedy who then got subsequently hounded by mobs of terminally online users brainrotted on nothing but conflict-free coffee shop AUs.

Hey you. Yes you. You have been through enough, you hear me? You. Have. Been. Through. Enough.
The world has treated you shittily, you go through enough, don't do that do yourself too. Be decent to yourself, kiddo. We've only got one of you and it's the best one we have :]
I love you, I'm proud of you, go make yourself a beverage of your choice and be a little more decent to yourself today <3

But then around 30 million years ago — halfway through the Age of Mammals, give or take — something happened. The nautiloids started disappearing. Fewer species, less diversity. Bit by bit they shrank back into their current small range. What happened halfway through the Age of Mammals? Well, here’s one clue: the nautiloids’ long retreat showed a pattern. It wasn’t everywhere and all at once. They disappeared first in the northern arctic regions; then in the Antarctic; then in temperate zones; finally across most of the tropics except that one small patch. This pattern suggested a culprit: a warm-blooded predator that evolved in the Arctic and then spread around the world. But… the armored cephalopod design had been around forever. They’d been living with predators for half a billion years. Sharks. Primitive armored fish. Not-so-primitive modern fish. In the age of dinosaurs, they had to deal with ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and mosasaurs. Back in the Paleozoic, they were hunted by eight-foot-long giant sea scorpions. Way back in the Cambrian, they had to live with the anomalocariids. In the early Age of Mammals, there were primitive whales and sea-going crocodiles. The armored cephalopod design took them all in stride and kept going. So what happened?
