Hm i think it's okay to not like a character and to explore the reasons or lack of reasons you don't like a character. I think it's okay to not like a character and talk about it on the world wide web. As long as your not deriding or being disrespectful to the original work and claiming your opinion defines the work itself, i think it's cool. Fandoms are for discussing and sharing opinions even if they are not accept by the majority.

I like cookies and I'm sure there are some bad people out there that likes cookies. I do not believe us sharing that opinion equivicates to me endorsing them being a bad person and doing bad people things.

I added the racism comment bc that's just how I felt in the moment and I think it would be cool to talk about it. The underlying prejudices we have can define our enjoyment and skew our perspective and I'm open to that possibility but after long consideration I just landed on the answer that sometimes it's okay to not like something even if you really really wanted to make yourself like that thing.

I see many, many posts saying that if you don't like Suvi then you aren't enjoying this media correctly, or if you don't like Suvi then your obviously missing the point, or if you don't like Suvi then you have no empathy and should keep your mouth shut. And i think that kinda sucks.

I don't like Suvi

I get she's a great character, strong beliefs, a good person, dutiful, a caring friend, tragic backstory that makes people feel for her.

I get her role and can even appreciate her story. I get the path she's carving out for herself and her themes and intrinsic motives and how well written and well played she is.

I just don't like her. I dont have a strong reason, I felt really bad for awhile that maybe i didn't like her bc of some hidden racist biased mindset that judges a strong, confident black woman by different harsher standards. And I've come to the conclusion, that nah, I just don't like her.

Like that one friend of a friend that's a decent person and has never done anything to you but just rubs you the wrong way. Like that one kid in class that is totally a cool person with some valid points but shares their opinion at every slight chance when your just trying to focus that makes you want to roll your eyes whenever they speak.

I know this is negative and most people would demand paragraphs of me justifying my feelings and I really do like the show and the characters but idk I think people should be allowed to just not like something.
