Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, ‘It might have been.’

You’ll never know how much emptiness can hurt; How the weight of it can crush you or how a hand can ache without another to hold it.
You’ll never know how big an empty bed can be when you sleep in it alone or just how long the days can feel when they have no purpose left in them.
You’ll never know just how hollow laughter can sound when it’s holding back tears or how vacant eyes can look in a mirror when you hate what you see.
You’ll never know how it feels to be incomplete because you gave your heart to somebody who left you with nothing but an empty chest and a head full of memories you can’t erase.
So don’t tell me you’re sorry for the pain you’ve caused when you don’t even know what it feels like…. You can keep your empty apology…
You’ve given me enough emptiness already.
