In the last two days I've seen this quote used in posts or fanart at least twice with the laughter being attributed to Armand, and I want to say that I disagree with that reading.

Because in the paragraphs both preceeding and following this bit, every use of he/his/him is in reference to Daniel, never to Armand:

Armand isn't laughing at Daniel for telling him he loves him, Daniel is laughing at the absurdity of Armand doubting for a second that he loves Armand.

I like everyone making up wild theories as to why Armand up and abandoned Daniel as much as the next person, but i feel like we’re missing like. The most obvious theory. Which is that the second Daniel whipped out that cunty sunglasses and leather jacket combo, Armand simply had to hide in shame knowing he could never serve as devastatingly hard as a recently Parkinson recovered octogenarian.
