Xbox Game Pass is Too Good
Recently, I have discovered that my cousin decided to get the Xbox Game Pass and I am always amazed by the huge amount of games that’s on there. Not only is there a lot of really cool indie games, many of them being rogue-likes, but a lot of rpgs and tons of EA games recently such as Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge, Star Wars: Fallen order, and tons of other cool games. I continually bouncing between different games I got from the Game Pass.       So far, I have been putting time into Tales of Vesperia, a game I wanted to play for ages but haven’t had the chance to do so. Along with that, I have been playing a bit of Ori and the Blind Forest, which still looks amazing to do this day.      On the rogue-like side of things, I played Star Renegades, which is a really cool pixel art rpg with a neat turn based system that involves delaying turns and capitalizing on critical hits. The gameplay can be difficult and a bit stressful but really satisfying to make good usage of your character’s moves. Sometimes, I still chip away on Slay the Spire, which I am super glad I finally finished a run with the Ironclad after what felt like 20 tries.      Despite all of these games I have been playing, I installed Dragon Quest 11: Definitive Edition since it just released on the Game Pass. I already know this game is a bajillion hours long but since I played the demo of it on the switch, I know it’s going to be an awesome game regardless. However, I shall definitely keep it on the backburner for now to focus more on the games I am already playing. Likely, I will put more time into Tales of Vesperia and Ori and the Blind Forest.      I definitely think that the Xbox Game Pass is such a bomb.com investment. Out of the countless number of games they have in store, there definitely has to be a few that people are interested in. I am excited to see what other games is will arrive to the Game Pass in the future. I do hope Dark Souls: Remastered will manage to land it’s way onto the Game Pass since I have been wanting an excuse to play that game.

Let’s Do This Again
Howdy y’all. Going back to posting again on this blog. Now that I have a cool, not wack computer, making posts should be a lot more convenient for me so I shall try to be consistent on here again. I shall be starting this week. I will also try making my posts way earlier instead of at 11 pm like I was doing before. For now, just going to talk about Fallout: New Vegas since I am digging that game a lot.
I can see why so many people dig New Vegas. All the voice acting is great and expresses a lot of personality for the different npcs. So far, all of the npcs, from small-time to important, have pretty distinct personalities and quite engaging to speak with. I dig how a lot of your skills have varied uses when it comes to solving situations. You can actually bypass obstacles in quests or choose easier paths just because you have high enough points. For example, there was a minor side-quest where I had to collect 15 miscellaneous items to fix a piece of machinery. However, since my repair skill was at 100 at that point, I was able to fix it no problem and got a good chunk of xp for it without needing to go on a scavenging hunt. T
The variety of guns is also nice so far, and the gunplay feels more satisfying to me due to using irons sights when aiming. I am using a whole bunch of mods on it to make the look better but nothing too extreme. Even though I had some issues with the game crashing because two of the mods were not compatible, the game runs fairly smooth. The mods I downloaded was mostly things like better textures on pretty much everything, better weapon animations, a lighting overhaul system, the ability to sprint, etc. The most major one was a mod that adds a whole lot of new perks to the game. That way, I can have more variety on how I want to upgrade my character. So far, all of the perks that seems like they are new have been pretty interesting and does not seem to be too drastic of a departure from the original perks in the game.
In terms of progress, I have been trying to do side-quests first. I am only around level 14 so far and the main quest I have to do is actually enter Las Vegas and find out what the heck happened to my package and why I got clapped for it. I am sure once i get inside Vegas, there will be a lot of wild events and intriguing characters.  I have not played Fallout: New Vegas in a few days but I might go back to playing it tonight or tomorrow. I will talk about the other stuff I have been playing lately in future posts to make sure to watch the blog if you’re interested!

How I Did in the Power Rangers Tournament
In the post I mentioned a few days ago, I decided to participate in a tournament for Power Rangers: Battle For the Grid. The power rangers fighting game that I have been playing a lot of recently. I only joined since the streamer who was running it, mswonderwoman84, is pretty cool and I have tuned into her streams a few times so far. I wanted to support her so I decided to participate in it, even though I don't normally join online tournaments. However, the online for the game is so good, along with me being fairly component with my combos, I decided to give it a shot. There was 16 players who signed up for the tournament but 4 people couldn't make it so there was 12 players instead. One of them being the man, the myth, the legend, FearChimera. He is an extremely good competitive player for the game. It was actually really cool seeing him and a lot of people from the Power Rangers:BFtG discord server decide to join it. Shows that they are willing to support any opportunity to enjoy the game and spread how great it is. Just to add, there was no prize or anything for this tournament. It was just for fun and to have a good time. When it comes to my own matches in the tournament, the first one went smoothly. I managed to overwhelm my opponent most of the time and got a win without too much effort. The second match, I got absolutely cooked. I lost 0-3 by someone who was pretty dang good. In the loser's bracket, I fought against someone who I actually played against a few times and always had back and forth matches. This time was no exception. Each fight was a struggle and ended up extremely close. However, with the power of time-outs on my side, I managed to win that way two times with only a sliver of health more. The other win was a lot more secure than the others. My last match was also against another really good player who was for sure mauling me. However, I actually managed to make a decent come-back whenever I wasn't getting pelted by some really tricky offense, impressive character tag-ins, and great anti-airs. I actually managed to get two wins against that guy before I ended up losing and being out of the tournament. The winner of the tournament ended up being the person I mentioned before, FearChimera. I was not surprised by this result since he was going ham on everybody he fought. Overral, the tournament was a lot more fun to watch and participate in that I thought. All of the support from the people in the stream chat and some friends I told about the tournament was extremely surprising yet nice to see. Even though I felt I was playing a bit lackluster at times, they still believed me to be a really strong player. It was really encouraging. I just think I am alright at the game but I do know for sure there are plenty of ways for me to get better. I will for sure try to play in the next tournament if that streamer hosts it again. Hopefully with a better performance! I shall let everyone know if I do, if you are interested!

Participating in an Online Power Rangers Tournament Tomorrow
Hey there everybody! I do not recall if I talked about this before but I have been playing a bunch of this fighting game lately called Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. As you can tell by the title, it is a fighting game that features characters from the well known Power Ranger series. It is similar to the Marvel vs Capcom series with where you use team of three characters who are capable of long, damaging combos that are kill the opponent with one or two touches most of the time if optimized. When playing some matches with a streamer who plays the game, they invited me to an online tournament that they are hosting tomorrow at 5 pm PST. If you are interested in checking out the details, here you go!
Considering that the streamer, Ms. Wonder Woman, is a really chill person to watch, I decided to go ahead and take part in it! I am for sure not a pro or anything in this game but I have practiced enough with the game to consider myself alright. I know a combo with my characters and I know how to use my assists decently so I think I will perform alright. However, I checked the brackets and a lot of good players will be in the tournament. I will just try to keep it cool and not take it too seriously. It’s all about having fun at the end of the day. I shall definitely try to get some practice in before the tournament so I do not get completely washed. I shall let everyone know how it goes tomorrow!

My Thoughts on Apex Legends Season 4
As I have said in my previous post, I am having a great time with Apex Legends. My usual one win a day actually continued and I managed to get a W when I played it yesterday. This time, my teammate, Caustic, pretty much pulled the whole team with about 1000 damage done while me and the other guy only did 200. Instead of gloating about my wins, I can going to talk about what I feel about the new additions to Season 4 of Apex Legends. When it comes to the map changes for World's End, I am not sure how impactful they are since I did not play much of Season 3. I do like how the map is appearing even more chaotic with the volcano cracks throughout one of the cities or the huge Harvester that's smack dab in the middle. It makes it even more distinct from the previous one, King's Canyon. This makes me curious on how a potential third map of the game could be like? I think a primarily jungle setting would be different enough from the other two. So far, my favorite place to land is anywhere the other teams are not going to. All my attempts at going to places relatively close to the initial drop off time has lead to rocky starts so I tend to wait about 15 seconds and choose a spot farther out. I do think that the city is still a fun spot for getting into close quarters combat though. When it comes to the weapon changes, the game now has the L-star, which used to be a golden weapon, now be a regular gun you can find, along with a new bolt action sniper rifle called the Sentinel. So far, I am digging the L-Star a lot. It's DPS is extremely good in a short-range fight, even if the accuracy can be a little iffy for me at times. However, getting some attachments helps out the gun a lot. Assuming I don't already find a shotgun or an R-99, I like going with the L-star. I have not messed with the Sentinel too much so far, considering I have poor aim with snipers as is. The fact that if I miss, I then have to reload afterwards is especially detrimental to me. However, I think it deals pretty good damage and when combined with your teammates firing with you, I think it's solid. Especially if you manage a headshot. That's not likely for me, so I've been avoiding it if possible. I rather get a Charge Rifle or a Longbow if possible. I am not the biggest fan of the Triple Take since I feel it does not do much damage in comparison to the other snipers, even with attachments. I think I may mess around with that gun some more though, just to see if there is any utility that I am missing out on in actual combat. I do not recall the full changes to certain weapons besides the Wingman having less ammo at higher mag attachments or the G7 Scout having a lower fire rate, but it has not been that much of a difference for me so far. I am really curious on how else Respawn will continue to evolve this super fun game. At the moment, I do not have any complaints about certain champions or weapons. I just feel they can all be strong in capable hands. I shall let y'all know any other Apex Legends escapades I end up doing or how I feel about future updates to the game!

My Sudden Wins in Apex Legends
Hey there everybody! Sorry for not posting in a while but at least my absence was not as long as the last the time! As usual, been playing a bunch of stuff so I have some topics in mind to write about. The first one for now is going to be about Apex Legends! Recently, Season 4 has been released for the battle royale and seeing a lot of my friends play it, along with remembering how fun it was, I decided to hop back on. Last week, I played it about once or twice almost each day and I actually managed to get a win each day. It happened in the most sudden circumstances, where I happened to have hooked up with a fairly capable team and then bam, we’re suddenly the last four squads without realizing it. Each match usually had some real close firefights in the beginning but mellowed out with some more easy battles and lucky loot pickups. Then, it led to us being one of the remaining squads where we managed to jump the last two unexpectedly and all of a sudden, we’re the Apex champions! Every time I won, I was asking myself “Wait, really?” Usually because we won without too much effort. I am certainly not complaining about that! Right afterwards, I’d give props to my team and then they may even send me a squad invite so we can play some more!
Of course, right after that awesome win, we are immediately greeted with a string of losses. Usually right at the beginning. I am not too bummed out about it though. I am just glad to have gotten a win! I am rarely expecting to actually get another one. Shoot, I might play some Apex today now that I am writing about it. Maybe my streak of a win a play session will keep going on today!
Lucky wins aside, what do I think about the season? I think the new legend, Revenant, looks super cool. His ultimate ability where dead teammates come back to the totem he places is really unique and I feel like it can be really clutch in firefights. His ability to silence enemy abilities is also really good against certain legends. like a Gibraltr or Wraith, where they can no longer use them to save their lives. I have not purchased him, even when I had the chance to, since I used my coins to buy Octane instead. I thought Octane had a simpler kit for me to try out, and I dig his energetic personality. I still like how Revenant disses his teammates and constantly downplays him though. For example, when he revives a teammate, Revenant says that he is only bringing them back as a distraction for the enemy. I think having a teammate who is antagonistic like that is unique.I will talk more about my experiences with the game later! Likely tomorrow! Stay tuned in if interested!

A Privilege of Being a Healer in Ff14
I am now level 31 with my Conjurer turned White Mage, closer to continuing the story quest. One aspect of being a healer class in FF14 that I find interesting is that the queue times for duties, aka the dungeons and boss battles, are extremely short. You either get partied up instantly or in less than two minutes. This actually makes leveling up a healer fairly quick. A dps class on the other hand, has a queue time of about 10-15 minutes. This likely due to there not being too many players who actually use a healer while a lot of people uses dps. It does not help that the game has an extremely disproportionate number of healer classes when comparing them to the dps classes. There is only three healers, where one of them you have to get at level 30 through a dps starting class and the other you get at level 50. This means that starting off, there is only one healing class you allowed to be, which is Conjurer/White mage. Luckily, that happens to be the simplest and supposedly best healing class so it does make sense. It just means there is a lack of variety with healing throughout the game. I do not think having one healing class at the beginning is necessarily bad, considering that roll can be pretty stressful to use at times. Keeping it as simple and clear to use as possible is helpful for those who may not be used to acting as support. However, in comparision, have a huge range of dps classes with different gimmicks and abilities to choose from. This make sense since I am sure tons of players rather deal damage than spend most of the time healing it. I know tanks somewhat have the same issue but at least the four different tank classes that are now available are really different from each other from what I've glanced at. I do hope that for the next expansion, there is another healing class added. I do think four healing classes will be a nice spread at that point, allowing for some decent variability between them. Overral, I am enjoying my White Mage but I am excited to finally get further in the story and experience some content I have not seen before.

Catching Up to My Friends For The Third Time In FF14
Seems like this will be a Final Fantasy 14 blog at this rate. In my MMO adventures this time around, I managed to get my second new character to level 35 and I have reached the same point I stopped at in the free trial. My friends, excluding the wild one who is now at level 50, are near the same quests in the story. However, we reached an issue where our level 50 friend has decided he does not like being a healer anymore, now preferring to be a Red Mage. This is totally fine since we don't want to force him to be a class he doesn't care to use. He will still help us in our dungeons but I think he would prefer to practice with the Red Mage. One he gets level 60, he will likely go switch to Dancer, like he said he would. To help him and the rest of our party out, I decided to take the role of healer and started to level up a Conjurer. I was planning to be a Conjurer anyway at some point, and I have used the class in my free trial. So far, I am already level 12. I am currently waiting to be level 15 since I will be able to do dungeons, which will let me level up very quickly. Especially since my queue times will be lightning quick since healers are apparently infrequent but in high demand. I will let you know how I adjust to my new role as a healer later!

Update On My New FF14 Character
Last post I talked about making a new character who is properly on my friends' server in FF14 so I can join their free company and use certain game features with no issues. I woke up in the morning and managed to make the character, and was even able to keep the same name! Yesterday I played a whole bunch of the game and actually made it to level 22. Only 6 more levels below my last character. The first thing I did with my old character is that I had my friends take the inventory he had and place it into the free company storage chest. When I hopped onto my new character, I got back all my inventory and the money I had for future use. Then came the grind on completing all of the story quests. Even I surprised myself with how quickly I managed to get through them. I was mashing x through text and spamming circle during cutscenes to skip them like flash. I was also trying to manage my travel as efficiently as I can, looking at the map often while jumping over fences, tables, chairs, and walls so I can get through places as quickly as possible. Plenty of teleporting as well since I had the money to pay for it. Combat encounters were fairly quick as well, but not because I had good gear since a lot of my equipment from the previous character was untradeable. It was due to my gained experience at using a Thaumatrge, allowing me to play a lot more efficiently than I did before. I am certain that later today, I will catch up to my friends and be able to be on par with them. At least when it comes to the story quests. I will likely try to go past them too, since one of friends is already level 40. It is better for me to help my friends with dungeons that I already encountered and enjoy the game for myself than to just wait for us to go through the game equally. I am still away from seeing content I have not seen before but I believe I can see start to experience that by the end of this week. I shall let you know about my adventures in this great game later!

Making a New Character in FF14 Already...
Happy New Years to everybody! Hope 2020 is the beezkneez for everybody. I am still in the previous decade when writing this at the moment though. I will probably talk about what plans I have for the next year when it comes to this blog or what I want to play/finish playing. Right now, I am going to speak about my foolish but helpful plan in the long run. In my previous post on FF14, I talked about how I made a new character in order to play with my friends who were on a different date center than my free trial character. So, the issue I had is that because I was ignorant and impatient, I discovered I could make a character on the same world/server they were on if I waited until it was not a lot of people playing which is usually in the middle of night. It was the one and only server that is actually well populated too. Of course, I was just excited to play the game and didn’t care so I just made it on a different world instead of waiting.
The issue now is that my friends recently made a free company, which is pretty much a clan, but I am unable to join it since my world is different from theirs. There are also other features like unable to check my mail, sell stuff on the market, buying homes, can’t use retainers, and other things, while only visiting their worlds. It makes stuff pretty inconvenient for me in the long run. In order to make up for this, I decided I shall just suck it up and create another character on my friend’s world whenever I have the ability to do so. I actually had the chance to early this morning but I was not fully considering this plan so I didn’t do it. I shall hopefully be able to do it tomorrow morning though.
My reason for this is not only being able to join their free company but to not have any other issues in the future when playing with them. I do not want to burden myself 200 hours into the game. I rather just burden myself now with grinding another character while everyone is still relatively early. It does help that my friends are pretty slow at doing story quests and are having a lot of fun working on crafting classes than advancing the story.
I am still going to use the same  character, and probably change his name to Havard Azuraa, so he will just have an extra a at the end of the name. I would Ashura but I think the z sound is cooler. I will also use the same class, since I am enjoying it a lot still, but it will also allow me to skip through all of the cut-scenes for the class quests since I just seen them not too long ago. I still think going through all this stuff I practically just finished doing will be a pain but I am sure the power of music and podcasts will help me get through it.  It is better for me to get through this now than considering it once I am level 50. I shall let you know how my re-grinding process goes, if I end up successfully making a character tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great New Year’s evening by the way!

FFXIV Is Still Pretty Fun
Sorry for not posting here for a while, just wanted to take a break and relax for the rest of the holidays and this weekend. I shall try to be more diligent this week with my posts. Either way, since Final Fantasy XIV was on sale and a few of my friends apparently bought the game, I shrugged my shoulders and went “why not buy it as well?” I actually played a bunch of the free trial and I already liked the game a whole lot, so since I just got a lot of Christmas moolah, I got it was well to play all the way with my friends. Unfortunately, they were playing on a different data center so I had to make a whole new character on their data center. I went with an Hrothgar, which is the big furry lion men, and named mine Havard Azura.
Tumblr media
Here is the low quality ipad picture of him. I will probably get a better one later. I am way too big of a fan of his name for some reason. It helps that he has some nice sauce in his mage outfit. Right now I have him as Thaumaturge/eventual black mage, since my friends wanted a range DPS. Since I already messed around with the arcanist and archer on my other character, I went with that class instead. Right now I am only level 20, which is probably not that bad considering I only got the game last night. I’ve been skipping cutscenes and text like nobody’s business to catch up with my friends, who are around the level 30 range right now. I already seen a lot of the story missions and side quests so I do not mind zooming through them.
So far, like most of the classes in the beginning, Thaumaturge is straightforward to use but I do dig the meter management aspect of it so far. I can’t wait to see how he changes when I become a black mage, since I have seen a lot of jokes on reddit or discords about black mages  rarely move out of AOE attacks so they can keep on dealing damage consistently. I doubt I will be that guy but I am curious to gain more context on it. Right now, I am eager to get back playing it tomorrow morning so I can level up and be more on par with my friends, as well as experience the parts of the story I have not seen yet. I have heard the story is pretty dang good, especially when it comes to the expansions. I know it’s probably going to take a loooong time to get there but I am excited to go on the journey again!

Dang, My Skullgirls Buddies Are Getting Good
A few posts ago, I talked about playing Skullgirls with some new psn friends who were pretty solid at the game in my opinion. This Christmas Eve, we ended up bopping heads in Skullgirls once again and they were noticeably better than last time! One of them did get a new controller since their previous one was not working well and I can tell the difference. His combos were coming out a lot more consistently and were able to block a little better than before. He still have to pushblock though! So far that's the main thing they need to do more, which I reminded them a few times when we played. That will help him not get pressured as much and give him space to counterattack if possible. I did show off my new Valentine combos to him, which he was pretty impressed by and I do hope that he tries that out to get more damage. At least with Valentine. His Parasoul is the one who is really putting in work with those big axe kicks to my dome. I got to try practicing with her more too at some point. The other person who I've been playing with that uses Fukua and Squigly has also been a ton more consistent with Her combos as well. Mostly with Squigly. Luckily she has not been doing too many run forward and instantly hit me with an overhead that some Squigly's I have faced been doing. I do think there are few points in her combo where she could go for a grab reset or some other tricky move but she is still pretty tight at using that character. One thing the both of them could learn to do is use their meter if they more than three bars. Especially if the opponent has half health or less. A good level 1 into a level 3 super could definitely kill. There were a few matches that was lost due to them being unable to pull that off. I am sure the next time we fight, they might get even stronger. One of them did want to try having a training session so they can learn Ms Fortune and Eliza so I do hope that can happen sometime soon!
