I’ll never be able to blame a phenomenal actor for having to do bad films. There’s a bitterness in having to be confined to bad scripts or bad directors because of something you can’t control ie. race, sexuality, or because studio executives push you into doing them.

I feel sad for actors who were forced to do films that didn’t match their acting calibre. I’m talking about Tony Perkins (especially in his later years), but any actor or artist who’s been relegated due to society. I wish online streaming was a thing back then, so many great actors and writers could have returned to films or tv, doing meaningful and important work. Without the shame and bitterness that’s often associated with being marginalized for no fault of one’s own.
